• Unable to SSH into EC2 instance on Fedora 17

  I did following steps But I am not able to SSH to it(Same steps work fine on Fedora 14 image). I am getting Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic) I created new instance using fedora 17 amazon community image(ami-2ea50247).   Hi I am having getting an exception when trying to initialize ActiveRecord and I cannot figure out what I am missing. I am trying to convince the company I work for to use Castle ActiveRecord and it won't look good if I can't demonstrate how it works.   I'm writing some code which could really do with some simple compile time metaprogramming. It is common practise to use empty-struct tags as compile time symbols. I need to decorate the tags with some run-time config elements. static variables seem the only way to go (to enable meta-programming), however static variables require global declarations. to side step this Scott Myers suggestion (from the third edition of Effective C++), about sequencing the initialization of static variables by declaring them inside a function instead of as class variables, came to mind. So I came up with the following code, my hypothesis is that it will let me have a compile-time symbols with string literals use-able at runtime.   I recently encountered an idiom I haven't seen before: string assembly by StringWriter and PrintWriter. I mean, I know how to use them, but I've always used StringBuilder. Is there a concrete reason for preferring one over the other? The StringBuilder method seems much more natural to me, but is it just style? I've looked at several questions here (including this one which comes closest: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/602279/stringwriter-or-stringbuilder ), but none in which the answers actually address the question of whether there's a reason to prefer one over the other for simple string assembly.   I was trying to follow this tutorial in order to create my own restful web-service using Spring framework.   Hi, My input is a InputStream which contains an XML document. Encoding used in XML is unknown and it is defined in the first line of XML document. From this InputStream, I want to have all document in a String. To do this, I use a BufferedInputStream to mark the beginning of the file and start reading first line. I read this first line to get encoding and then I use an InputStreamReader to generate a String with the correct encoding. It seems that it is not the best way to achieve this goal because it produces an OutOfMemory error. (2) - 3525.01," } [1]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(39) "E-Book What I Didn't Learn At School..." } [2]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(1) "2" } [3]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(7) "3525.01" } } which matches only one items... what i need is to get all items from such strings. when i've added "," sign to the end of the string - it worked fine. but that is non-sense in adding comma to each string. Any advice?

  I have built a parser in Sprache and C# for files using a format I don't control. Using it I can correctly convert: a = "my string"; into my string The parser (for the quoted text only) currently looks like this: public static readonly Parser<string> QuotedText = from open in Parse.Char('"').Token() from content in Parse.CharExcept('"').Many().Text().Token() from close in Parse.Char('"').Token() select content; However the format I'm working with escapes quotation marks using "double doubles" quotes, e.g.: a = "a ""string""."; When attempting to parse this nothing is returned. It should return: a ""string"". Additionally a = ""; should be parsed into a string.Empty or similar. I've tried regexes unsuccessfully based on answers like this doing things like "(?:[^;])*", or: public static readonly Parser<string> QuotedText = from content in Parse.Regex("""(?:[^;])*""").Token() This doesn't work (i.e. no matches are returned in the above cases).   we have SAP Business One - Fourth Shift Edition running here at a small manufacturing company. The consulting company that has come in to do the installation/implementation uses the "sa" id/pass to initially connect to the database to get the list of companies. From then on, I have to assume that its the sa id/pass that is being used to connect the client software to the database. Is this appropriate? I dont know where this data is being stored... as an ODBC connection? directly in the registry somewhere? Is it secure? Would it be better to set the users network ID in the database security and then use the "trusted connection" setting instead? Or do most people create a separate login in the database for each user and use that in the client settings? seems like the easiest way would be to add the users network login to the sql server security so they can use the "trusted connection"... but then wouldn't that allow ANY software to connect to the database from that machine? So anyways: what are the best-practices for setting this up?

  Hi everyone! Despite that I’m a regular reader of this great forum, this is my first post on it. I believe that this community can help me with the following problem that I have. I’m trying to publish an ASP.NET website over an IIS 6.0 (Windows 2003 Server), and I have some troubles trying to connect to the database. Curiously, I have installed another ASP.NET website into the same IIS 6.0 with the same properties and security parameters and can connect without problems with the same database. The application that works fine is almost the same that the one that can’t connect with SQL Server (actually is the same but with several modifications). I’ll enumarate some information related to the problem: S.O: Windows 2003 Server SQL Server Engine: SQL Server 2008 SQL Server accept remote connections? Yes. ASP.NET version: 2.0.50727 The connections via TCP/IP are enabled to the SQL Server instance? Yes. The corresponding user that I have in the connection string, actually exists into the database with the “owner” role? Yes. ORM Tool used: nHibernate I get the following error when I try to run the aplication into the browser: Error while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may occur because the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) In order to isolate the problem, I made some test. For example, using the web app that works fine I can connect without any problema with the database that uses the web app that can’t. With this evidence I concluded that the problem is within the web app and not into the SQL Server instance. I also google it my problem but sadly I can't find nothing usefull to solve it. If someone can help me I’ll appreciate that. Thank you so much for your time!

• Where should I store user config data? Specificaly the path to the data file?

  I have an app using a SQLite db, and I need the ability for the user to move the data file and point the app to where it moved to. I used the Entity Framework to create the model, and by default it puts the connection string in the App.Config file. From what I've read if I make changes to the connection string there then they won't take effect until the app is restarted. That seems a bit clunky for my use. I see how I can init my model and pass in a custom string but I'm unsure what the best practice is in where to store basic user prefrences such as this? Ini, Registry, somewhere else? I don't want the user to have to "Open" the file each time, just when it relocates and then the app will try to auto open from then on.

• Chicken and egg problem (restore database) when trying to write unit test against SQl Server 2008.

  Ok, they are not unit tests but end-to-end tests. The setup is somewhat involved. Unit tests will use C#, ODBC connection. Every unit tests will try to clean up after itself, but every 20 tests or so (once per C# class) we would need to do a full database restore. I do not think I can do it over an ODBC connection, according to this document: http://www.sql-server-performance.com/articles/dba/Obtain_Exclusive_Access_to_Restore_SQL_Server_p1.aspx Msg 6104, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot use KILL to kill your own process. However, I would like to, so that 199 tests do not go amok because of a bad clean-up. Is there another way? Perhaps I can open a different "connection" such as use COM automation or something of that sort, and then kill all database connections from there? If so, how can I do that? Also, will the clients be able to re-connect automatically after a restore, or would I have to dismantle everything once every 20 tests or so? If you find this question confusing, please let me know what your questions are. Thanks!

• All connections in pool are in use

  We currently have a little situation on our hands - it seems that someone, somewhere forgot to close the connection in code. Result is that the pool of connections is relatively quickly exhausted. As a temporary patch we added Max Pool Size = 500; to our connection string on web service, and recycle pool when all connections are spent, until we figure this out. So far we have done this: SELECT SPId FROM MASTER..SysProcesses WHERE DBId = DB_ID('MyDb') and last_batch < DATEADD(MINUTE, -15, GETDATE()) to get SPID's that aren't used for 15 minutes. We're now trying to get the query that was executed last using that SPID with: DBCC INPUTBUFFER(61) but the queries displayed are various, meaning either something on base level regarding connection manipulation was broken, or our deduction is erroneous... Is there an error in our thinking here? Does the DBCC / sysprocesses give results we're expecting or is there some side-effect catch? (for example, connections in pool influence?) (please, stick to what we could find out using SQL since the guys that did the code are many and not all present right now)

• Configuring WPA WiFi in Ubuntu 10.10

  Hello, I am trying to configure my wireless network on my laptop running Ubuntu 10.10 and am having a bit of difficulty. I am a complete Linux newb, but want to learn it, hence the reason I'm trying to set this up. Here's the vitals: It is a Gateway 600 YG2 laptop. It was previously running Windows XP, but I installed Ubuntu 10.10 in place of it (not a dual boot, I removed XP altogether). I have an old wireless card that I'm trying to resurrect. I haven't really used the card in a couple years, but it seems to still work, I just can't connect to my home's wireless network. The card is a Linksys WPC11 v2.5. When I plug it in, Ubuntu recognizes the network, but won't connect to it. My home network uses WPA encryption and the only connection type that Ubuntu's network manager is giving me is WEP and then it asks for a key -- I have no idea what that key should be. So, basically, I'm asking, is there a way I can instead connect through WPA? I've tried creating a new connection in network manager, but that won't work, it keeps falling back to the WEP connection and asking me for a key. I have tried to install the XP driver using ndiswrapper but I don't know if that's working or not. Is there a way to tell if: A) the card is working as it should B) the correct drivers are installed (again, I installed the XP one using ndiswrapper NET8180.INF, but I'm not sure what to do next) Any help would be appreciated.
