  • Create an RSS feed from Existing RSS

    Im using the Twitter API to read the Favorites RSS, it generates the following output: http://vl3.co.uk/favs/getfavs.php I'm not sure why this file seems to be incorrect, doesnt come up in my RSS reader or render correctly in the browser. Can anyone shed any light on this? If the output is not valid RSS how can I make it so? Secondly I'd like to cache the RSS feed to then use something like Magpie RSS Parser.

    I've been looking at different tutorials and I know I'm close but I'm getting lost in implementation details because some of them are a little bit dated and a few things have changed since Firefox 3. I have already written the javascript for the firefox extension, now I need to make it into an XPCOM component. This is the functionality that I need: My Javascript file is simple, I have two functions startServer() and stopServer. I need to run startServer() when the browser starts and stopServer() when firefox quits. Edit: I've updated my code with a working solution (thanks to Neil).     I created a cab file that contains my activex using CABARC.exe. I also created an .inf file. My inf file looks like this: [version] signature="$CHICAGO$" AdvancedINF=2.0 [Add.Code] MySetup.exe=MySetup.exe [MySetup.exe] file-win32-x86=thiscab clsid={49892510-B520-4b35-8ADF-57084DD2F717} My html looks like this: <object name="secondobj" style='display:none' id='TestActivex' classid='CLSID:49892510-B520-4b35-8ADF-57084DD2F717' codebase='http://myurl/MySetup.cab#version=1,0,0,0'></object> I created the CABARC using the following commmand: C:\tools\Cab\BIN>CABARC.EXE N MySetup.cab MySetup.msi setup.inf I also added http://myurl to the trusted sites. Now the first time I opened the html page in IE, I saw a yellow bar, which I accepted. However it never installed the activex control. I dont see the installation in my program files nor can I see anything in the event logs or in the temporary download folder or in the "manage add-ons". Now everytime I open the webpage in IE, I do not see the yellow bar anymore. Can anybody help me out here please?

Due to some spelling mistakes, exact matching is not possible, so I am trying to use agrep() to fuzzy match names.     I want to use encryption algorithm available in .Net Security namespace, however I am trying to understand how to generate the key, for example AES algorithm needs 256 bits, that 16 bytes key, and some initialization vector, which is also few bytes. Can I use any combination of values in my Key and IV? e.g. all zeros in Key and IV are valid or not? I know the detail of algorithm which does lots of xors, so zero wont serve any good, but are there any restrictions by these algorithms? Or Do I have to generate the key using some program and save it permanently somewhere?

    Does anyone know how to make a map overlayitem draggable so I can press and hold it and drag it across the map. I am trying to duplicate the draggable icon behavior that's available on the iPhone. One developer suggested a possible solution is to detect a touch event, get rid of the existing overlay item, draw your own copy of the icon where the overlay item had been, manually animate that as the user drags, and then put the overlay item where the user drops it (getting rid of your manually-drawn icon). Does anyone have sample java code to do this Android 2.1? This would be much appreciated.

If the answer is yes, where the implementation located? Specifically, assume that I want to add new subclass of "Boolean" called "Other" which will represent a third option: neither true nor false. I want that other, the only instance of Other to be similar to the true/false global singletons. Any ideas? Thank you.

    For a little project about XML I try to use HTML5 as it has SVG and WAI-ARIA Support. I also want to use a XSL stylesheet for my document. But I can't get a valid HTML5 document with a nested SVG. Here are some version I tested so far: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output indent="yes" method="xml"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> In combination with header('Content-Type: application/xml'); it works and produces this HTML output: <?xml version="1.0"?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> But it is not HTML5 and without a DOCTYPE I get a lot of errors on the W3 validator. So trying to get a HTML5 document I used the following XSL: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output indent="yes" method="html"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:text disable-output-escaping='yes'>&lt;!DOCTYPE HTML></xsl:text> <html> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> But unfortunately that will produce thze following HTML output: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> .... </head> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> As you can see it's regular HTML5 but using it in combination with header('Content-Type: application/xml'); it fails because of the missing slash at the end of the meta tag (which was automatically created). Using header('Content-Type: image/xhtml+svg'); or header('Content-Type: text/html'); there is no XML parsing error, but the page will not show the SVG as a graph but as text (without the tags). Can anyone tell me how to avoid the meta tag to be inserted or how to set a propper Content-Type that will make the browser rendern the SVG. Or even any other hint to get this working. I would really like to keep HTML5 to be able to keep the WAI-ARIA Landmark Roles an the HTML5 tags like NAV and FOOTER.

    I'd like to define a method that is available in both my views and my models Say I have a view helper: def foo(s) "hello #{s}" end A view might use the helper like this: <div class="data"><%= foo(@user.name) %></div> However, this <div> will be updated with a repeating ajax call. I'm using a to_json call in a controller returns data like so: render :text => @item.to_json(:only => [...], :methods => [:foo]) This means, that I have to have foo defined in my Item model as well: class Item def foo "hello #{name}" end end It'd be nice if I could have a DRY method that could be shared in both my views and my models. Usage might look like this: Helper def say_hello(s) "hello #{s}" end User.rb model def foo say_hello(name) end Item.rb model def foo say_hello(label) end View <div class="data"><%= item.foo %></div> Controller def observe @items = item.find(...) render :text => @items.to_json(:only=>[...], :methods=>[:foo]) end IF I'M DUMB, please let me know. I don't know the best way to handle this, but I don't want to completely go against best-practices here. If you can think of a better way, I'm eager to learn!

With the newest version this method produces a completely black image. nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colorspace gray -compress group4 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemon.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colors 2 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontestfinal.jpg This results in a bitonal gray and black image, but it's really rough. NOT clean at all.
