  • Workflow Automation software for SVN

    We're currently using IBM's ClearQuest for task management and ClearCase for change management. They plug and play very well with each other. Users can create tasks in ClearCase as defects and enhancements, and developers can use those tasks to check out and modify code in source control. We're looking to upgrade to a better, more modern Source Control system, like SVN, although we're not married to that as our Source Control system. There are loads of source control systems out there, but I'm having difficulty finding one that also includes the ability to have users enter tasks and track them, especially in a native way to the source control system itself. Are there any products that replace ClearQuest for systems like SVN? Are there any other cheap / open source application pairs that handle both sides of the coin?

  • Productive Writing Software

    What do you guys use to write a personal journal, notes, and reference information that you want to group and search through later? I'm not one of those crazy people who likes to share their journal with the world. Some things I like to keep to myself. It's quite nice to have a reference. Preferences for cross-platform stuff (windows, mac, linux) Some Background For Windows, there's a program called Yeah Write, which really changed my expectations about how easy it should be to start writing something. You don't open or close files -- just click an empty slot and start writing, or click a filled slot to work on another file. And you can organize things into categories by creating tabs. Now that I carry a Macbook, I've just been using TextEdit. I like it because I can't lose my work when my computer crashes: it auto-saves everything and restores it when I launch TextEdit again. But I make a mess, leave thirty open files, and save everything to one directory with no tags for easy grouping. Saving files and selecting the directory they should be in is too clunky to do in the middle of a meeting. And organizing files into folders in the Finder is a pain, since there's no tree view like on Windows. Sure, I'm lazy, but I miss Yeah Write. I'm not going to get a windows laptop just to use it though. Since the laptop I take my notes on is a mac, I'm gonna be biased toward mac solutions.

  • Both screens always stay on after adding second monitor

    I had a single 1920x1080 monitor on a Windows 7 desktop PC and, per "power management" (not screen saver), the screen would go blank after 10 minutes. I added another monitor (2560x1600 if that matters) and since then, neither screen has ever blanked. I've tried turning on the "blank" screen saver, but that didn't help either -- I can go away for hours and when I come back, both screens are on. I've seen others with similar issues apparently caused by e.g. wireless mice that seem to move infinitesimally, but I've got the same wired mouse I had before. I can't understand why neither the screen saver nor power management is doing what it should to blank the screens, when "power management" used to do it when there was only one monitor. Maybe it doesn't matter so much with current LCD display technology (no "burn in") but doesn't a monitor use more power when "power management" hasn't turned off the display? Thanks for any suggestions.

    We write test case documents. In these documents, each test case is numbered. E.g. Foobar-UI-1 to Foobar-UI-23 or Foobar-Device-1 to Foobar-Device-87 I'd like to autonumber these. I don't think I want just a new numbered list format, I want something like the list of figures - where figures (or test case) can be defined anywhere in the doc with other headings and paragraphs between them, and I can insert a "List of figures" table at the beginning. So how do I do "test cases" and a "list of test-cases" table in the same way as figures work out of the box?

    I am trying to find an .adm or GPO settings so when any users login to the 2003/2008 server using Windows 7/windows xp pro client it will add the keyboard Chinese PRC (one of the inputs that is listed) in the language bar.   • Video/films organizing software for mac

    I am looking for application that will help me organize movies, clips and other videos I have. I tell it a folder to watch, and then I can mark every video there as watched/unwatched, set rating, add description, tag it. And possibility to open with preferred video player (for me — VLC). Option to get all info from imdb or other source will be very good. yFlicks would be a good one, but it uses quicktime, so it doesn't like any non standard codec and container (for example mkv), it doesn't work well on Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

I added delimiters part and when I tried running the query from phpmyadmin, Firefox went into not responding state. After that I started Internet Explorer and tried opening my pages which use the same database, it worked fine. However, I tried opening phpmyadmin and IE went into not responding state as well. I restarted both servers. Later restarted PC. Tried again but its same behavior. So whats wrong with this tiny little code ? Am I missing something which might be causing infinite loop ? Thanks

    I currently have an Exchange 2010 SP1 server in house, and due to some changes, it looks like i will need Multi Tenant support for a few extra domain names. Looking at the documentation i have found so far, it only mentions multi tenant support when upgrading from 2010 RTM - SP1, and not what you do if you have already got 2010 SP1 installed. So, from what i can gather, i have a few options: Install a new Exchange server with Multi Tenant support and migrate DBs over Back everything up and start again Something else... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks.

    Right now if I try to add a non-system user not in the university's Kerberos realm I am prompted for a Kerberos password anyway. Obviously there is no password to be entered, so I just press enter and see: passwd: Authentication token manipulation error passwd: password unchanged Typing passwd newuser has the same issue with the same message. I tried using pwconv in the hopes that only a shadow entry was needed, but it changed nothing. I want to be able to add a local user not in the realm and give them a local password without being bothered about Kerberos. I am on Ubuntu 10.04.     I'm trying to set up a dual-boot situation with my Windows 7 and Fedora 17 partitions and I left the install grub to /boot option on when I was installing Fedora. I would like to be able to add Windows 7 to the grub boot loader, but the advice I've seen online says to modify /boot/grub/grub.conf, but I don't have that file. $ ls /boot/grub/ splash.xpm.gz Has anyone done this? I'm thinking that I'll just need to re-install everything and use the Windows boot loader, but it would be nice to use grub instead.

  • Error 22 no such partition on adding a SSD

    I'm trying to add a second SSD to a Centos 6 system. But I get the error 22 no such partition at boot. The system already has a single SSD (sdb) and a pair of HDDs (sd{a,c}) in a RAID 1 array from where it boots. It is as if the new SSD assumes one of the devices of the RAID array. Is it? ( please see the below screen-shot for your reference ) Can you please guide, what problem can i face if i kept my configuration in this way. but i am wondering, can this setting can create a problem? because the computer will be able to reach corp.abc.com easily, with the help of host file.

    I am trying to add a web folder via command line in windows. At first I though I should use the "net use" command, but when I tried I kept getting System error 67: C:net use * http://dev.subdomain.domain.tdl/dav/ the user name for 'dev.subdomain.domain.tdl': correctusername the password for dev.subdomain.domain.tdl: System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found. The url I used works in a browser. It's an Apache dav on basic auth LDAP authentication method being used. Here's the thing... I CAN create a web folder when I use the "Add a network place" wizard. When I do net use, I don't see it listed in the prompt that follows. What utility do I need to use to mount a web folder in command line?

    I'd like to make it so that whenever I open a particular file type (by double clicking it in explorer) it always opens the associated program with particular command line options. So, for example, when double clicking a .tex file I want it to not only open it with emacs (which is easy to set up just by going into "Open With"), but run emacs with the command line option "-fs".     Hi, Are there software you know that can copy images from a DVD? now the problem is there images in the DVD that are corrupt that I won't force to copy, If the software can recover the file and copy it that would be cool, If it cannot then skip the file. The dvd is kinda large and I don't want to sit and wait there. I want the DVD do the decision, If it can recover then recover if it cannot, then skip. And do you know other solution copying corrupt files? thanks!

Is there a website/app/forum/newsletter where I can followup different softwares or technology and feature soon after their new releases. i.e. ipad iphone ios 7 release as soon as it will release with its feature. andriod next version soon after it release with its feature. coreldraw x7 whenever it will rlease zend framework new version when ever it will release. mac php new version photoshop new version ....... there are lot more list than that which goes on and on and Its difficult to follow up new technology as they come out. Any better and less time consuming way to follow up.

  • vmware host stuck after adding a virtual drive to client

    I use ESXi 5.0 I created a virtual (400GB) drive (located on an iSCSI mapped drive), and tried to add it to a specific client on the host. The task has stopped at 11%. After over an hour, it seems that everything is pretty stuck. Looking at the datastore - it says that 400GB are allocated, but I don't see the new drive with the client. How can I check if the process is still working? or should I restart the host and pray for good?

    I understand the 32 bit Vista limit in addressing only 4Gb of memory space but I have a very specific question: I have 3Gb installed on a Vista 32 bit system with a 512Mb video card, MSI X-58 board, Intel i7, 920 CPU. System Information currently shows: Installed Memory: 3.00Gb Available Physical Memory: 1.73 Gb My understanding is that the 512Mb video card occupies memory addresses between 4.0Gb and 3.5Gb and so does not subtract from the 3.0Gb of physical memory (correct my understanding if wrong) My Question: If I install another 1Gb of RAM, will my Available Memory increase to 2.73Gb? I've used tools (PostScript, various vector drawing programs) that do one of these modes well, but leave me pining for the other model. Which tools should I be investigating? I'm currently on OS X. Examples: Creating diagrams with precise spacing, sets of cards, either likely drawing from some sort of data.
