  • Load testing multipart form

    - by JacobM
    I'm trying to load-test a Rails application using JMeter. A critical part of the application involves a form that includes both text inputs and file uploads. It works fine in a browser, but when I try to post that page in JMeter, Rails is saving all of the parts of the multipart form as temp files, which causes things to break when it's looking for a string and gets a tempfile instead. It appears that the difference is that, from a browser, the piece of the multipart request that contains a text input looks like this: -----------------------------7d93b4186074c Content-Disposition: form-data; name="field_name" test -----------------------------7d93b4186074c while from JMeter it looks like this: -----------------------------7d159c1302d0y0 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="field_name" Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit test -----------------------------7d159c1302d0y0 So apparently Rails sees the former and interprets it as a plain text value and treats it as a string, but sees the latter and saves it to a temp file. I have not been able to find a setting to convince JMeter not to send the additional headers in the multipart form for non-file fields. Is there a way to convince Rails to ignore those headers and treat the text/plain text as strings instead of text files? Or a quick way to put a filter in front of my controller that will strip the extra headers? Alternately, is there a better tool to load-test a Rails application that includes file upload?

  • Apache commons HTTPClient and log4j.xml

    - by java_pill
    I'm using Apache commons HTTPClient with Apache Axis 1.5 and I'm trying to log the messages exchanged when making Web Service calls by enabling org.apache.commons.httpclient to DEBUG and httpclient.wire to DEBUG. However, this doesn't work. Mentioned below is my log4j.xml - can someone help me? Thanks <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <!DOCTYPE log4j:configuration SYSTEM "log4j.dtd"> <log4j:configuration xmlns:log4j="http://jakarta.apache.org/log4j/"> <appender name="rolling" class="org.apache.log4j.DailyRollingFileAppender"> <param name="File" value="test.log" /> <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout"> <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d [%t] %-5p %c:%L - %m%n"/> </layout> </appender> <logger name="org.apache.commons.httpclient"> <level value="DEBUG"/> </logger> <logger name="httpclient.wire"> <level value="DEBUG"/> </logger> <root> <level value="DEBUG" /> <appender-ref ref="rolling"/> </root> </log4j:configuration>

  • Parsing third-party XML

    - by mare
    What path would you took to parse a large XML file (2MB - 20 MB or more), that does not have a schema (I cannot infer one with XSD.exe because the file structure is odd, check the snippet below)? Options 1) XML Deserialization (but as said, I don't have a schema and XSD tool complains about the file contents), 2) Linq to XML, 3) loading into XmlDocument, 4) Manual parsing with XmlReader & stuff. This is XML file snippet: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xmlData date="29.04.2010 12:09:13"> <Table> <ident>079186</ident> <stock>0</stock> <pricewotax>33.94000000</pricewotax> <discountpercent>0.00000000</discountpercent> </Table> <Table> <ident>079190</ident> <stock>1</stock> <pricewotax>10.50000000</pricewotax> <discountpercent>0.00000000</discountpercent> <pricebyquantity> <Table> <quantity>5</quantity> <pricewotax>10.00000000</pricewotax> <discountpercent>0.00000000</discountpercent> </Table> <Table> <quantity>8</quantity> <pricewotax>9.00000000</pricewotax> <discountpercent>0.00000000</discountpercent> </Table> </pricebyquantity> </Table> </xmlData>

  • TabHost NullPointerException in layout

    - by Chubbs
    I been following the Tab example provided by Google. I am trying to use the XML layout provided to setup a tab layout. I use this XML layout @ http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TabHost xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/tabhost" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TabWidget android:id="@android:id/tabs" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <FrameLayout android:id="@android:id/tabcontent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is a tab" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview2" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is another tab" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textview3" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:text="this is a third tab" /> </FrameLayout> </LinearLayout> </TabHost> When ever I switch the Layout tab in the Eclipse layout designer I get a NullPointerException: null error inside my Eclipse. This happens also when I try to drag and drop a TabHost, and then a TabWidget into an empty layout file. What am I doing wrong ? this seems pretty simple.

  • OutOfMemory exception when loading an image in .Net

    - by Ben
    Hi, Im loading an image from a SQL CE db and then trying to load that into a PictureBox. I am saving the image like this: if (ofd.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { picArtwork.ImageLocation = ofd.FileName; using (System.IO.FileStream fs = new System.IO.FileStream(ofd.FileName, System.IO.FileMode.Open)) { byte[] imageAsBytes = new byte[fs.Length]; fs.Read(imageAsBytes, 0, imageAsBytes.Length); thisItem.Artwork = imageAsBytes; fs.Close(); } } and then saving to the Db using LINQ To SQL. I load the image back like so: using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(@"C:\Temp\img.jpg", FileMode.CreateNew ,FileAccess.Write )) { byte[] img = (byte[])encoding.GetBytes(ThisFilm.Artwork.ToString()); fs.Write(img, 0, img.Length); } but am getting an OutOfMemoryException. I have read that this is a slight red herring and that there is probably something wrong with the filetype, but i cant figure what. Any ideas? Thanks picArtwork.Image = System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(@"C:\Temp\img.jpg");

  • Monotouch serialize UIImage

    - by cvista
    Hi I need to cache images locally and was thinking about saving them as SerializableDictionary SerializableDictionary is from: http://weblogs.asp.net/pwelter34/archive/2006/05/03/444961.aspx I was wondering if this was a: a good way of handling caching of images (for offline mode - the data is constantly updated so pulls from the web first). b: how can i do this? I seem to be only left with the following xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="us-ascii"?> <dictionary> <item> <key> <string>http://img.theguidestar.com/thumb/491520.png</string> </key> <value> <UIImage xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <Handle /> <Size> <Width>0</Width> <Height>0</Height> </Size> </UIImage> </value> </item> </dictionary> Is there anything specific i should be doing to make it serialize the image itself? w://

  • jQuery .load() XHTML issue

    - by Urfe
    I am having some strange problems loading content from another XHTML page via jQuery. When the second page I try to load from is served as XHTML I get the below error. I don't know if it helps but both documents validate when I get the error. Uncaught Error: NO_MODIFICATION_ALLOWED_ERR: DOM Exception 7 Currently the header on the second page I load from is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <meta name="language" content="en" /> <title>some title</title> <!-- CSS & Javascript included here --> </head> The content type is set as: application/xhtml+xml;charset=iso-8859-1 Interestingly, when I remove all the XHTML stuff from the header and stop setting the content type the error does not occur and everything works great. The load process currently looks like the below. It works fine when everything is plain HTML. $('#overpage').find(".wrap").load(this.getTrigger().attr("href")+" #op").show(); I'm curious why the process only does not work when the second page I load from is XHTML. I don't want to serve the page as just plain HTML and am looking for advice on what I am doing wrong. Both pages validate and I'm really scratching my head here. Many thanks!

  • iPhone JSON object releasing itself?

    - by MidnightLightning
    I'm using the JSON Framework addon for iPhone's Objective-C to catch a JSON object that's an array of Dictionary-style objects via HTTP. Here's my connectionDidFinishLoading function: - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; NSString *responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; [loadingIndicator stopAnimating]; NSArray *responseArray = [responseString JSONValue]; // Grab the JSON array of dictionaries NSLog(@"Response Array: %@", responseArray); if ([responseArray respondsToSelector:@selector(count)]) { NSLog(@"Returned %@ items", [responseArray count]); } [responseArray release]; [responseString release]; } The issue is that the code is throwing a EXC_BAD_ACCESS error on the second NSLog line. The EXC_BAD_ACCESS error I think indicates that the variable got released from memory, but the first NSLog command works just fine (and shows that the data is all there); it seems that only when calling the count message is causing the error, but the respondsToSelector call at least thinks that the responseArray should be able to respond to that message. When running with the debugger, it crashes on that second line, but the stack shows that the responseArray object is still defined, and has 12 objects in it (so the debugger at least is able to get an accurate count of the contents of that variable). Is this a problem with the JSON framework's creation of that NSArray, or is there something wrong with my code?

  • Passing html parameters to server odd problem

    - by StealthRT
    Hey all i am having a weird problem with sending data back to my server. This is the code i am using: NSString *theURL =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.xxx.com/confirm.asp?theID=%@&theName=%@&empID=%@&theComp=%@", theConfirmNum, tmpNBUserRow.userName, labelTxt.text, theID]; NSLog(@"%@,%@,%@,%@", theConfirmNum, tmpNBUserRow.userName, labelTxt.text, theID); NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:theURL]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"POST"]; NSError *error; NSURLResponse *response; NSData *urlData=[NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error]; NSString *data=[[NSString alloc]initWithData:urlData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) I can run the code from the browser and it works just fine using the data i got from the NSLog output. The NSLog output for each value is correct. But for some reason when i put a break on the IF ([data isEqualToString:@"Done"]) it has no return value. I checked each value for what it was sending (and again, it was correct in the NSLog output) and i found that the value "theID" said "Out of scope". Although, again, the NSLog had the value in it correctly? So i searched the forum and found a simular problem. I took their advice and added "RETAIN" to the "theID" value like so: theID = [customObjInstance TID]; [theID retain]; However, that did not solve the issue... Here is the console NSLog output: [Session started at 2010-04-11 01:31:50 -0400.] wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003 wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003 nbTxt(5952,0xa0937500) malloc: *** error for object 0x3c0ebc0: double free *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug 2010-04-11 01:32:12.270 nbTxt[5952:207] 5122,Rob S.,5122,NB010203 The NSLog values i am sending is the last line "5122,Rob S.,5122,NB010203" Any help would be great :o) David

  • DDMS won't load (or doesn't parse?) KML file

    - by nderraugh
    I can't get DDMS to load any KML files. I have a KML file for example with the following in it: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <kml xmlns="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2"> <Placemark> <name>Simple placemark</name> <description>Attached to the ground. Intelligently places itself at the height of the underlying terrain.</description> <Point> <coordinates>-122.0822035425683,37.42228990140251,0</coordinates> </Point> </Placemark> </kml> The docs at http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/ddms.html seem to indicate that I only need to launch my app and fire up DDMS and load the KML. That doesn't work. I even tried the Google Earth solution suggested at the same link. I'm using SDK 1.5_r2. I am doing something wrong or missing something?

  • How do I place widgets above and below a listview with Relative Layout

    - by Jay Askren
    I have a list view and want to put stuff both above(on the y axis) and below(y axis) it including images, text views, and a row of buttons. Below is a simplified version of what I am creating. Unfortunately the list covers(i.e. above on the z axis) the header so the header text is not visible instead of being underneath (on the y axis) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/footer" android:text="footer" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" /> <ListView android:id="@+id/list_view" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_above="@id/footer" android:background="#ff9999ff"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/header" android:text="header" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_above="@id/list_view" android:baselineAlignBottom="false" /> </RelativeLayout> Here is the corresponding Activity class: public class SampleListActivity extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.list_activity); } }

  • Problem merging similar XML files with XSL

    - by LOlliffe
    I have two documents that I need to merge, that happen in a way that I don't seem to be able to find covered in other examples. Namely, that it needs to match not only on a node's attribute at one level, but also on the value of an attribute a node level below that, to get that node's value. I'm trying to take this sample: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Art</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="949" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="i">Review of conference proceedings</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Byzantine</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> And when the value of "datafield" '035', "subfield" 'a' matches e.g. "12345" <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/xpath-functions" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:fo="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Format"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="035"> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Dietrichson, Lorentz, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="035"> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Lange, Julius Henrik, 1838-1896</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> The result should be: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <marc:collection xmlns:marc="http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">12345</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Art</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Dietrichson, Lorentz, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2=" " ind1=" " tag="654"> <marc:subfield code="a">Généralités</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Historiens et critiques d'art</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="b">Smith, John, 1834-1917</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="949" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="i">Review of conference proceedings</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> <marc:record> <marc:datafield tag="035" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">54321</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="041" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <marc:subfield code="a">eng</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield tag="650" ind1=" " ind2="4"> <marc:subfield code="a">Byzantine</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> <marc:datafield ind2="4" ind1=" " tag="650"> <marc:subfield code="a">General works</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Historians and critics</marc:subfield> <marc:subfield code="x">Lange, Julius Henrik, 1838-1896</marc:subfield> </marc:datafield> </marc:record> </marc:collection> I've tried using examples that I've found that did lookups, but none of them seemed to work. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can anyone help me (a Python newbie) with the appropriate conversion so that I can get on with parsing and manipulating the SVG code?

  • OData / WCF Data Service - HTTP 500 Error

    - by Eric
    I have created an OData/WCF service using Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 with all current patches installed. When I click on "view in browser", the service opens and I see the 3 tables from my EF model. However, when I add a table name ("Commands" in this case) to the end of the query string, rather than seeing the data from the table, I get an HTTP 500 error. (This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.). I have not only followed the examples from 2 sites, but have also tried running the sample application that the blog poster sent me (that works on his machine), and still am not having any luck. The blog post is at Exposing OData from an Entity Framework Model Does anyone have an idea why this is occurring and how to resolve it? Here is the output of the "View in Browser": <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?> - <service xml:base="http://localhost:1883/VistaDBCommandService.svc/" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" xmlns:app="http://www.w3.org/2007/app" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2007/app"> - <workspace> <atom:title>Default</atom:title> - <collection href="Commands"> <atom:title>Commands</atom:title> </collection> - <collection href="Databases"> <atom:title>Databases</atom:title> </collection> - <collection href="Statuses"> <atom:title>Statuses</atom:title> </collection> </workspace> </service> ============================= Thanks, Eric

  • Dreamweaver and GZIP files

    - by Vian Esterhuizen
    Hi, I've recently tried to optimize my site for speed and brandwith. Amongst many other techniques, I've used GZIP on my .css and .js files. Using PuTTY I compressed the files on my site and then used: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-encoding} gzip RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !Konqueror RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.gz -f RewriteRule ^(.*)\.css$ $1.css.gz [QSA,L] RewriteRule ^(.*)\.js$ $1.js.gz [QSA,L] <FilesMatch \.css\.gz$> ForceType text/css </FilesMatch> <FilesMatch \.js\.gz$> ForceType text/javascript </FilesMatch> </IfModule> <IfModule mod_mime.c> AddEncoding gzip .gz </IfModule> in my .htaccess file so that they get served properly because all my links are without the ".gz". My problem is, I cant work on the GZIP file in Dreamweaver. Is there a plugin or extension of somesort that allows Dreamweaver to temporarily uncompress thses files so it can read them? Or is there a way that I can work on my local copies as regular files, and server side they automatically get compressed when they are uploaded. Or is there a different code editor I should be using that would completely get around this? Or a just a different technique to doing this? I hope this question makes sense, Thanks

  • How to call JSON asynchronous in xcode/ iphone develope

    - by Frames84
    I'm using the JSON framework hosting on Google. What and it's a news app that loads JSON feeds, when app goes off to load the feed I want to display the UIActivityIndicatorView but I've found my JSON Access code is not being called asynchronous which is locking the user interface. I have highlighted the function in the code and can't figuree out without breaking how to change the code. #import "JSON DataAccess Wrapper.h" #import "JSON.h" @implementation JSON_DataAccess_Wrapper @synthesize dataItemList; ////////////////////////////////////////////// /* START FEED CONNECTION/ HANDLE METHODS */ ////////////////////////////////////////////// - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { [responseData setLength:0]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [responseData appendData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { //label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Connection failed: %@", [error description]]; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { [connection release]; } - (NSString *)stringWithUrl:(NSURL *)url { NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReturnCacheDataElseLoad timeoutInterval:30]; NSData *urlData; NSURLResponse *response = nil; NSError *error = nil; /* HOW TO MAKE THE CALL BELOW ASYNCHRONOUS */ urlData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:urlRequest returningResponse:&response error:&error]; return [[NSString alloc] initWithData:urlData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; } -(id) objectWithUrl:(NSURL *)url { SBJSON *jsonParser = [SBJSON new]; NSString *jsonString = [self stringWithUrl:url]; return [jsonParser objectWithString:jsonString error:NULL]; } - (NSMutableArray *) downloadJSONFeed { id response = [self objectWithUrl:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.mysite.co.uk/index2.php?option=JSON"]]; NSMutableArray *feed = (NSMutableArray *) response; return feed; }

  • HttpWebRequest does has empty response requesting a search from Bing

    - by Jarrod Maxwell
    I have the following code that sends a HttpWebRequest to Bing. When I request the url below though it returns what appears to be an empty response when it should be returning a list of results. var response = string.Empty; var httpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create("http://www.bing.com/search?q=stackoverflow&count=100") as HttpWebRequest; httpWebRequest.Method = WebRequestMethods.Http.Get; httpWebRequest.Headers.Add("Accept-Language", "en-US"); httpWebRequest.UserAgent = "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"; httpWebRequest.Headers.Add(HttpRequestHeader.AcceptEncoding, "gzip,deflate"); using (var httpWebResponse = httpWebRequest.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse) { Stream stream = null; using (stream = httpWebResponse.GetResponseStream()) { if (httpWebResponse.ContentEncoding.ToLower().Contains("gzip")) stream = new GZipStream(stream, CompressionMode.Decompress); else if (httpWebResponse.ContentEncoding.ToLower().Contains("deflate")) stream = new DeflateStream(stream, CompressionMode.Decompress); var streamReader = new StreamReader(stream, Encoding.UTF8); response = streamReader.ReadToEnd(); } } Its pretty standard code for requesting and receiving a web page. Any ideas why the response is empty? Thanks in advance. EDIT I left off a query string parameter in the url. I also had &count=100 which I have now corrected. It seems to work for values of 50 and below but returns nothing when larger. This works ok when in the browser, but not for this web request. It makes me think the issue is that the response is large and HttpWebResponse is not handling that for me the way I have it set up. Just a guess though.

  • scraping text from multiple html files into a single csv file

    - by Lulu
    I have just over 1500 html pages (1.html to 1500.html). I have written a code using Beautiful Soup that extracts most of the data I need but "misses" out some of the data within the table. My Input: e.g file 1500.html My Code: #!/usr/bin/env python import glob import codecs from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup with codecs.open('dump2.csv', "w", encoding="utf-8") as csvfile: for file in glob.glob('*html*'): print 'Processing', file soup = BeautifulSoup(open(file).read()) rows = soup.findAll('tr') for tr in rows: cols = tr.findAll('td') #print >> csvfile,"#".join(col.string for col in cols) #print >> csvfile,"#".join(td.find(text=True)) for col in cols: print >> csvfile, col.string print >> csvfile, "===" print >> csvfile, "***" Output: One CSV file, with 1500 lines of text and columns of data. For some reason my code does not pull out all the required data but "misses" some data, e.g the Address1 and Address 2 data at the start of the table do not come out. I modified the code to put in * and === separators, I then use perl to put into a clean csv file, unfortunately I'm not sure how to work my code to get all the data I'm looking for!

  • Problem connecting to Apache Derby using Hibernate configuration file in Netbeans (ERROR XSDB6)

    - by me_here
    I've created a local Apache Derby database in Netbeans, but am having problems when I try and autogenerate the POJO files, using the "Hibernate Reverse Engineering Wizard". My Hibernate configuration (generated by Netbeans from the database connection, then I added a few bits): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-configuration PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Configuration DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-configuration-3.0.dtd"> <hibernate-configuration> <session-factory> <!-- Default Netbeans generated parameters --> <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class">org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.url">jdbc:derby:C:/CerealDatabase</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.username">cerealuser</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.password">cerealpass</property> <!-- Additional parameters --> <property name="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.DerbyDialect</property> <property name="hibernate.show_sql">true</property> <property name="hibernate.default_schema">CEREALUSER</property> </session-factory> </hibernate-configuration> When I try and generate the POJOs using this configuration file, I get the message to check my configuration file, and the derby.log gives the errors: java.sql.SQLException: Failed to start database 'C:/CerealDatabase', see the next exception for details. Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: Failed to start database 'C:/CerealDatabase', see the next exception for details. Caused by: ERROR XSDB6: Another instance of Derby may have already booted the database C:\CerealDatabase. I've closed any other connections to the database before trying this, and there is no "db.lck" lock file at the time, which indicates there are no connections to the database as I understand it. Does anyone have any ideas? Help gratefully received.

  • Beginner video capture and processing/Camera selection

    - by mattbauch
    I'll soon be undertaking a research project in real-time event recognition but have no experience with the programming aspect of video capture (I'm an upperclassman undergraduate in computer engineering). I want to start off on the right foot so advice from anyone with experience would be great. The ultimate goal is to track events such as a person standing up/sitting down, entering/leaving a room, possibly even shrugging/slumping in posture, etc. from a security camera-like vantage point. First of all, which cameras/companies would you recommend? I'm looking to spend ~$100, more if necessary but not much. Great resolution isn't a must, but is desirable if affordable. What about IP network cameras vs. a USB type webcam? Webcams are less expensive, but IP cameras seem like they'd be much less work to deal with in software. What features should I look for in the camera? Once I've selected a camera, what does converting its output to a series of RGB bitmaps entail? I've never dealt with video encoding/decoding so a starting point or a tutorial that will guide me up to this point would be great if anyone has suggestions. Finally, what is the best (least complicated/most efficient) way to display video from the camera plus my own superimposed images (boxes around events in progress, for instance) in a GUI application? I can work on any operating system in any language. I have some experience with win32 GUIs and Java GUIs. The focus of the project is on the algorithm and so I'm trying to get the video capture/display portion of the app done cleanly and quickly. Thanks for any responses!!

  • Creating an MJPEG Viewer Iphone

    - by Tony
    Hey all, Im trying to make a MJPEG viewer in Objective C but I'm having a bunch of issues with it. First off, Im using AsyncSocket(http://code.google.com/p/cocoaasyncsocket/) which lets me connect to the host. Here's what I got so far NSLog(@"Ready"); asyncSocket = [[AsyncSocket alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; //http://kamera5.vfp.slu.se/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi NSError *err = nil; if(![asyncSocket connectToHost:@"kamera5.vfp.slu.se" onPort:80 error:&err]) { NSLog(@"Error: %@", err); } then in the didConnectToHost method: - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didConnectToHost:(NSString *)host port:(UInt16)port{ NSLog(@"Accepted client %@:%hu", host, port); NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://kamera5.vfp.slu.se/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi"]; NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"GET"]; //set headers NSString *_host = [NSString stringWithFormat:host]; [request addValue:_host forHTTPHeaderField: @"Host"]; NSString *KeepAlive = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"300"]; [request addValue:KeepAlive forHTTPHeaderField: @"Keep-Alive"]; NSString *connection = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"keep-alive"]; [request addValue:connection forHTTPHeaderField: @"Connection"]; //get response NSHTTPURLResponse* urlResponse = nil; NSError *error = [[NSError alloc] init]; NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&urlResponse error:&error]; NSString *result = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(@"Response Code: %d", [urlResponse statusCode]); if ([urlResponse statusCode] >= 200 && [urlResponse statusCode] < 300) { NSLog(@"Response: %@", result); //here you get the response } } This calls the MJPEG stream, but it doesn't call it to get more data. What I think its doing is just loading the first chunk of data, then disconnecting. Am I doing this totally wrong or is there light at the end of this tunnel? Thanks!
