    Is there a way to tell how to get a file size that is uploaded to database? SELECT [ID] ,[File] FROM [dbo].[Reports] I would like to be able to tell user the size of File which is VarBinary(max) field in MS SQL 2005/2008. How to do that? Maybe the only way to do is to create another column and when inserting file i should also insert it's size in additional column?

    I have a DataGridView which is filling from Table in SQL Server Database. One of it's columns is "price". Type of column in DGV is automatically sets as Decimal. In some cases I need to write in cells of this column text like "none", instead of price. How can I do it? DGV.Item("price", 0).Value = "none" doesn't work, because of decimal type of a cell.

  • Tools to update tables in SQL server 2000/2005

    Is there any handy tool that can make updating tables easier? Usually I got an Excel file with the original value in one column and new value in another column. Then I write a formula in Excel to create the 'update' statement. Is there any way to simplify the updating task? I believe the approach in SQL server 2000 and 2005 would be different, so could we discuss them both? Thanks.

    Can someone explain to me why when I perform a LIKE select in SQL (T-SQL) on a varchar column I can do the following: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Name LIKE 'Th%' to get names beginning with Th, but when I do the same on a datetime column I need a % before the year, like: SELECT * FROM Table WHERE Date LIKE '%2013%' to get dates in 2013. The datetimes are stored in yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss format. I know I could use a DATEPART style query but I was just interested in why I need the extra % here.

  • Characters spilled over multiple columns in Oracle 11g?

    This is related to question: How to store unlimited characters in Oracle 11g? If maximum I need is 8000 characters, can I just add 3 more varchar2 columns so that I will have 4 columns with 2000 char each to get 8000 chars. So when the first column is full, values would be spilled over to the next column and so on. Will this design have any bad side effects? Please suggest.

    Sorry I dont know the correct terminology to use but I have a 3x3 matrix like this 1 3 4 5 4 5 2 2 5 and I want get the highest score by picking a value from each row/column but I cant pick the same row or column more than once , so the answer in this case is 3 + 5 + 5 = 13 (row0,col1 + row1,col0 + row2,col2) 4 + 5 + 5 = 14 is not allowed because would have picked two values from col2 I'm using Java, and typically the matrix would be 15 by 15 in size. Is there a name for what Im trying to do, and whats the algorithm thanks Paul

  • How to refresh xmlDataProvider when xml document changes at runtime in WPF?

    I am trying to make a image viewer/album creator in visual studio, wpf. The image paths for each album is stored in an xml document which i bind to to show the images from each album in a listbox. The problem is when i add a image or an album at runtime and write it to the xml document. I can't seem to make the bindings to the xml document update so they show the new images and albums aswell. Calling Refresh() on the XmlDataProvider doesn't change anything. I don't wish to redo the binding of the XmlDataProvider, just make it read from the same source again. Let's say I have an user table in declarative mode: class User(Base): __tablename__ = 'user' id = Column(u'id', Integer(), primary_key=True) name = Column(u'name', String(50)) When I have a list of users identifiers, I fetch them from db with: user_ids = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] users = Session.query(User).filter(User.id.in_(user_ids)).all() I dislike using in_ because I think I learned it has bad performance on indexed fields (is that true/false?). Anyway, is there a better way doing that query? Thanks!

Similarly, i also need to add a new column as log of sales, I tried df['logSales'] = math.log(df['Sales']), again, it did not work.

When I select the contents of this column using the following select statement: SELECT * FROM categories ORDER BY menu_order ASC It lists the category items that have nothing as their menu order first and then the one's that have 1's and 2's and 3's. Is there any way to prevent SQL from take nothing to come before numbers when I am trying to list things in order?
