Define variable in variable/parameter and use in javascript?

I want to defined a variable/parameter in CSS and access it by javascript. What is the best way of doing this? One option I thought of would be to place a cutsom attribute on the body element, then access that attribute via jQuery. A little more info: I'm defining colour sets in CSS. I've created a function with RaphaelJS to draw a gradient background on the page. I want this function to use a highlight colour (which is not used elsewhere on the DOM) which will be defined in the CSS along with the other colour elements. Thanks

Twitter Bootstrap Collapsible Navbar Duplicating

I am working on a project using Twitter Bootstrap. One thing that I noticed is that my pages have duplicate navbars when they are defined as collapsible and the page is resized smaller. Say I have two classes created work and workItem. CWorker *work = new CWorker(); CWorkItem *workItem = new CWorkItem(); The work class has a public list m_WorkList and I add the work item to it. work->m_WorkList.push_back(workItem); If I just delete work if(work != NULL) delete work; Do I need to loop through the list in the destructor like the following? How do you keep yourself and your co-workers from creating huge classes

Stackoverflow users, How do you keep yourself from creating large classes with large bodied methods. When deadlines are tight, you end up trying to hack things together and it ends up being a mess which would need to be refactored. For me, the one way was to start with test driven development and that lends itself to good class design as well as the SRP (Single Responsibility Principle). I also see developers just double clicking on controls and typing out line after line in the event method that gets fired. What are your suggestions?

A code using SharePoint classes doesn't run on systems not having SharePoint installed

I have a window application which uses SP classes to create a site. I works fine on a system having Windows Server 2003 R2 with sharepoint installed. But it doesn't work on a system having XP installed and SharePoint not installed. The fact is that both of these systems are on a intranet. So I assumed that the NON-SP system would be able to run the code and create a site on the system having SP installed if all the required parameters (like serverLocation, domain, username, password) are provided. I did copied the DLLs to these NON-SP system and referenced them to build the project: Microsoft.SharePoint.dll microsoft.sharepoint.portal.dll Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.dll But this too didn't worked. What am I missing? Is my assumption wrong?

Unit Testing Model Classes that inherit from NSManagedObject

So...I'm trying to get unit tests set up in my iPhone App but I'm having some issues. I'm trying to test my model classes but they inherit directly from NSManagedObject. I'm sure this is a problem but I don't know how to get around it. Everything is building and running as expected but I get this error when calling any method on the class I'm testing: Unknown.m:0:0 unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xc2b120 If I follow this structure (http://chanson.livejournal.com/115621.html) to create my object in my tests I end up with another error entirely but it still doesn't help me. Basically my question is this: how can I test a class that inherits from NSManagedObject?

Drupal: Multiple Stylesheets

I'm currently creating a custom Drupal theme for my company and I'm having trouble getting multiple stylesheets to load. I followed the instructions on this page by adding stylesheets to the .info file in the format: stylesheets[all][] = style.css stylesheets[all][] = name2.css etc... However, when I load the page nothing changes and when I view source, it consistently lists style.css but seems to ignore the others. Am I misunderstood in the process of adding additional stylesheets? What could I be doing incorrectly? Thanks for any help!

Switching/Linking to another external stylesheet in a .js file using Ruby on Rails

Im learning JQuery from a Sitepoint Book but Im trying to apply all the lessons to a Rails App. In one lesson, we are taught how to switch to a different stylesheet if the browser window is resized beyond a certain point. Here's the javascript code: if ($('body').width() > 900) { $('<link rel="stylesheet" href="wide.css" type="text/css" />') .appendTo('head'); } else { $('link[href=wide.css]').remove(); } Rails doesn't seem to want to link to the new stylesheet using 'link rel'. I've tried using the Rails helper: <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'base', :media => 'screen' %> but that doesn't work in a .js file. How do I link to an external stylesheet in a .js file using Ruby? Can I use Ruby on Rails code in a .js file? Thanks.

I'm just getting started with OOP PHP via PHP Object-Oriented Solutions and am a little curious about the notion of protection in OOP. The author clearly explains how protection works, but the bit about not wanting others to be able to change properties falls a bit flat. I'm having a hard time imagining a situation where it is ever possible to prevent others from altering your classes, since they could just open up your class.php and manually tweak whatever they pleased seeing as how PHP is always in plaintext. Caution: all of the above written by a beginner with a beginner's understanding of programming...

Specifying different page base classes for different directories in your web.config file

I have a website (coded in vb.net) with an "admin" section (the admin section being a folder in the actual site)... So in every page of the site I'm using my own custom class as the page base (which has been set in the web.config file) but I want to inherit from different class for the files in the "admin" folder... Is there any way to inherit different classes for pages in different folders using the web.config or some other equally as global method? (meaning some other way than inheriting on a per page basis.)

Douglas Crockford describes the consequence of Javascript inquiring a node's style. How simply asking for the margin of a div causes the browser to 'reflow' the div in the browser's rendering engine four times. So that made me wonder, during the initial rendering of a page (or in Crockford's jargon a "web scroll") is it faster to write CSS that defines only the non-zero/non-default values? To provide an example: div{ margin-left:2px; } Than div{ margin:0 0 0 2px; } I know consequence of this 'savings' is insignificant, but I think it is still important to understand how the technologies are implemented. Multiple classes in a Python module

I'm very new to Python (I'm coming from a JAVA background) and I'm wondering if anyone could help me with some of the Python standards. Is it a normal or "proper" practice to put multiple class in a module? I have been working with Django and started with the tutorials and they place their database model classes in the same module. Is this something that is normally done or should I stick with 1 class per module? Is their a reason I would do one over the other? Hope I'm being clear and not to generic. Non-IE6 IE7 hack

I managed to create a page the crashes IE6 and 7 regularly as per here: http://raven-seo-tools.com/blog/2675/crash-ie6-with-only-css I have a solution for non-IE browsers (display: inline-block), but the only way to get IE6/7 working is to use different CSS (display: inline). Normally I would have other browsers use inline-block, then in a seperate IE67 CSS file I would set display to inline. The problem is IE67 crash as soon as they reach the display: inline-block line, so I need a way to hide this code from IE6 and 7 but not other browsers.

Currently, I can't seem to get away from assigning each one manually. ie: $this->widgetSchema['title']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); $this->widgetSchema['tag_line']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); $this->widgetSchema['description']->setAttribute("class","fieldInput"); // etc Things I tried without success 1) looping through $this-widgetSchema, treating it as an array and setting attributes to each key 2) $this-widgetSchema-setAttribute() but this only applied the class to the label that was generated, not the form element There must be a way to hit all the fields without specifically directing them? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

IE8 no honoring display:none

I have the following markup on a page and unfortunately I do not have direct access to it. . This page is opened in an iframe. There is other code on the page but it is not relevant so I have not posted it. The only access to target the code in via css. I want to not display the close button so I added this to the css file img[alt='Close'] {display:none !important;} this is the markup <td align="center"><a href='javascript:window.close()'><img src='v/vspfiles/templates/100/images/buttons/btn_close.gif' alt='Close' border=0></a></td> It works as expected in all browsers that i have tested (firefox, Opera, Safari) but in IE8 it seems to ignore this css and shows the button. Not sure if it doesn't like the selector or perhaps I have a syntax error. Not sure where to go from here.

I'm using Flash Builder 4 (the version after Flex Builder 3, so very similar to Flex Builder 3) and have a bunch of actionscript classes that I frequently need to reference. I have them in a separate folder/package to keep things clean. I know that it's possible to create a SWC from these actionscript files. My question is how do I do it in Flash Builder 4 or Flex Builder 3. Do I need other tools? My objective is just to use the SWC in the project and keep things clean instead of dragging around all these files.

Need to map classes to different databases at runtime in Hibernate

I have MainDB database and unknown number (at compile time) of UserDB_1, ..., UserDB_N databases. MainDB contains names of those UserDB databases in some table (new UserDB can be created at runtime). All UserDB have exactly the same table names and fields. How to handle such situation in Hibernate? (database structure cannot be changed). Currently I am planning to create generic User classes not mapped to anything and just use native SQL for all queries: session.createSQLQuery("select * from " + db + ".user where id=1") .setResultTransformer(Transformers.aliasToBean(User.class)); Is there anything better I can do? Ideally I would want to have mappings for UserDB tables and relations and use HQL on required database.

Service Contracts with Message causes duplicate proxy classes

Hi, I have a service contract with Message as shown below. [OperationContract] Message MyMethodWithMessage(Message myMsgParam); Everything works fine. I could host my services. But when I try to create proxies through "Add Service References", I am getting the duplicate proxy classes. If I take out the above OperationContract and re run my services and try to create proxies, then "Add Service References" does not provide duplicate proxies. I am really confused about this!!! Need help using ThemeRoller

Hi - I'm using DataTables to dress up a table I'm using to display XML results based on an XSL transformation. I have everything working from a technical sense (paging, sorting, filtering), but I'm trying to figure out to use a ThemeRoller theme to make it look like they have on their website. So far, I have added the following file to my project with its reference: <link type="text/css" href="css/custom-theme/jquery-ui-1.8.7.custom.css" rel="stylesheet"/> and enabled ThemeRoller themes using the following as per the DataTables website: $(document).ready(function() { $('#mainTable').dataTable( { "bJQueryUI": true, "sPaginationType": "two_button" }); }); The table gets styled, but it doesn't look right with the header rows being too wide and things being on multiple lines that should be on one line. Any indication as to what I'm doing wrong? Thanks very much in advance.
