can't register a soft phone to asterisk11

I have a VM (on oracle vbox) running Fedora17. I've installed asterisk 11 on it from sources. I've followed the wiki for installation (https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Creating+SIP+Accounts) to the letter. The ip on the VM machine running fedora is 192.168.1.7 and I can ping it from the host machine (Ubuntu 12.04), which is at 192.168.1.2 I've tried registering with ekiga with the following settings: user: [email protected]. Password: verysecretpassword registar: 192.168.1.7 but I'm getting an error "transport fail". Also, while trying to register I'm logged in to the asterisk CLI with verbose level 3 and debug level 4 and nothing appears. some more relevant data: I've added the following code to the end of my sip.conf.sample file: [demo-alice] type=friend host=dynamic secret=verysecretpassword context=users deny=0.0.0.0/0 permit=192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 [demo-bob] type=friend host=dynamic secret=othersecretpassword context=users deny=0.0.0.0/0 permit=192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 After I changed the sip.conf.sample file, I've created a copy of it and named it sip.conf. then I logged in to the asterisk CLI and typed sip reload. Then I'm trying to register and ekiga client from my host machine at 192.168.1.2 but it doesn't work and nothing appears on the asterisk CLI while in verbose mode level 3. How to reduce celeryd memory consumption?

I'm using celery 2.5.1 with django on a micro ec2 instance with 613mb memory and as such have to keep memory consumption down. Currently I'm using it only for the scheduler "celery beat" as a web interface to cron, though I hope to use it for more in the future. I've noticed it is the biggest consumer of memory on my micro machine even though I have configured the number of workers to one. What is the best way to reject messages with the same body in AMQ queue?

I have a single AMQ queue that receives simple messages with string body. Consider I'm sending CLSIDs as message bodies. CLSIDs could be not unique, but I'd like to reject all messages with not unique bodies and keep only single instance of such messages in the queue. Is there any simple way to do it? Currently I'm using a workaround. Messages from the queue are consumed by some processor that tries to insert bodies into a simple DB table with UNIQUE constraint applied to message_body field. If processor inserts the messages succesfuly - it's assigned to exchange.out.body and sent to other queue. If ConstraintViolationException is thrown - nothing is resent to other queue. I would like to know does AMQ support something similar out of the box?

What technology to use for a RIA

I have to develop a online business software solution (similar to ERP) for a company to manage the information exchange for internal use and with external partners. It should be online. What technology should I use, I have checked framewroks like: Flex, Silverlight, Google/GWT, sencha (ExtJS), jQuery, DoJo, Telereik, Infrajistics and others similar. But they seam to be very low level programming. May be this is advantage for other projects, where you need more flexibility, but this project is stright forward. I need something more focused on business software (tables, forms, processes) where and eventually more efficient with less coding, or something I can save time. Is force.com an option? But I can not install this on the customer's servers... Do you have any ideas for me for a web based framework focused on business applications?

How to deploy and secure an ASP.NET web app to be available to internal and outside users?

My company has several web applications written in ASP.NET. We need to make these applications available to Intranet users as well as authenticated external users. Most of the features are the same for the two groups, though there are some extra features available to the Internal users. The two different sets of users would use a slightly different security setup... our internal people will be authenticated using LDAP against Exchange, whereas the external users will have accounts in SQL Server. What is the best approach for deploying our web apps? Should we deploy 2 copies to different servers, one configured for an Intranet and one for outside users? Or is there a better way to share the code between the 2 servers, yet have the flexibility to use different web.config settings for security??

Instant file sharing between users in PHP

Hi there, Working on a rather complex system in which users can directly exchange files with eachother from the website. However is any of these things possible: EITHER * Have another user download a file which is still being uploaded by another user ( in progress ) OR * Make a user automaticly ( instant ) download a file from another users PC through our website OR * Make a user automaticly (instant) download a file from our server ( so it's directly downloaded to the users pc and the progress shown on our website of the download progress, without the normal internet explorer dialog downloading the file or firefox ). I was recently asked by a Team Leader (not mine) if I would be willing to undertake a programming project. The members of his team are currently pre-occupied with other more important projects. I graduated college two years ago, and up until now programming has only been a hobby of mine. Recently I decided that I would like to pursue a career in software development. I accepted his offer so that I can gain some real-world experience and start building a portfolio. In about an hour I'm scheduled to meet with the Team Leader to discuss the details of what he needs. From a short e-mail exchange with him, I know that the base project is to update an existing ASP.NET form—but I also think there's more to it than that. Considering that I'd like to eventually put this project in a portfolio, what kinds of notes should I take at the meeting?

Tell bots apart from human visitors for stats?

I am looking to roll my own simple web stats script. The only major obstacle on the road, as far as I can see, is telling human visitors apart from bots. I would like to have a solution for that which I don't need to maintain on a regular basis (i.e. I don't want to update text files with bot-related User-agents). Is there any open service that does that, like Akismet does for spam? Or is there a PHP project that is dedicated to recognizing spiders and bots and provides frequent updates? To clarify: I'm not looking to block bots. I do not need 100% watertight results. I just want to exclude as many as I can from my stats. In know that parsing the user-Agent is an option but maintaining the patterns to parse for is a lot of work. My question is whether there is any project or service that does that already. Bounty: I thought I'd push this as a reference question on the topic. The best / most original / most technically viable contribution will receive the bounty amount.

Background task in mobile phone to access a secure element and a web server

Is it possible in a GSM mobile phone OS (e.g. Android, Win Mo, Symbian, etc.) to have some kind of background task or application able to exchange data at the same time with a web server and a secure element of the mobile? The purpose if for the web server to be able to push APDUs to the secure element (an retrieve response APDUs) without activating the IHM of the mobile. NB: I know that this is possible when the secure element is the one managing the GSM baseband, for example using BIP as described in Ulysse specifications. My question is only when using another secure element (e.g. Java Card in a microSD).

Android – multiple custom versions of the same app

Whats the best way to deploy several customized versions of a Android application? Currently I have a script to exchange the resource folder for getting a customized version of my app. It works great, but all custom versions still have the same package name in the AndroidManifest.xml. Therefore it is not possible to install two customized versions of the app at the same time. This is one solution for this problem, but that has to be done by hand Can you think of a more easy solution, or how this could be built into a skript? (btw: it is not for a porn/spam/whatever app, not even a paid one)

Detecting well behaved / well known bots

I found this question very interesting : Programmatic Bot Detection I have a very similar question, but I'm not bothered about 'badly behaved bots'. I am tracking (in addition to google analytics) the following per visit : Entry URL Referer UserAgent Adwords (by means of query string) Whether or not the user made a purchase etc. The problem is that to calculate any kind of conversion rate I'm ending up with lots of 'bot' visits that are greatly skewing my results. I'd like to ignore as many as possible bot visits, but I want a solution that I don't need to monitor too closely, and that won't in itself be a performance hog and preferably still work if someone has javascript disabled. Are there good published lists of the top 100 bots or so? I did find a list at http://www.user-agents.org/ but that appears to contain hundreds if not thousands of bots. I don't want to check every referer against thousands of links. Here is the current googlebot UserAgent. How often does it change? Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Getting a list of all phone contacts?

Simple enough question. I need to know the best way to get the same list of contacts that show up when a user presses the Contacts button. By secondary accounts, in Android you can add additional gmail accounts to have the mail/contacts synced. The above intent will not list those additional contacts. I am also told that on the HTC Desire you can add contacts to the phone that do not get synced up to Google. These contacts also do not show up. So how do I get a real list of contacts so I can create my own list activity that works properly where the Google intent does not.

Email Proxy Ideas

Hi Everyone, I wish to host some managed email servers for some customers. Each customer will have their own email server which will be an all-in-one virtual machine running postfix, dovecot and some webmail suite. Even though each customer will have their own server, I do not wish to give each email server it's own public facing IP. I wish to avail the use of proxy servers so all customers use the same public IP. As for the "smtp-in" from the public internet, this isn't a problem as I can set up many mx servers (using postfix) which will store-and-forward the mail to the correct server (using transport maps). As for the IMAP access from the customer, I was thinking of using perdition which is an IMAP proxy - I believe that this will suit my needs. I am confused however on what to use for the "smtp-out" proxy. The customers will have to authenticate with their receptive email server, however they will have to go via a proxy of some sort as they won't have direct access to their server instance. It probably can't be a store-and-forward proxy either. Does anyone have any idea on what I could use here? Many Thanks

Could anyone give me the MOST basic example of how/why to use one, and perhaps the difference with or without it (what would happen if you didn't attach the '&'). for example, if I've created a function: int doSomething(int& a, int& b), what would be the consequences of not putting in that '&.' I understand that reference variables are used in order to change a formal-reference, which then allows a two-way exchange of parameters. However, that is the extent of my knowledge, and a more concrete example would be of much help. Thank you.

Parallel doseq for Clojure

I haven't used multithreading in Clojure at all so am unsure where to start. I have a doseq whose body can run in parallel. What I'd like is for there always to be 3 threads running (leaving 1 core free) that evaluate the body in parallel until the range is exhausted. There's no shared state, nothing complicated - the equivalent of Python's multiprocessing would be just fine. So something like: (dopar 3 [i (range 100)] ; repeated 100 times in 3 parallel threads... ...) Where should I start looking? Is there a command for this? A standard package? A good reference? So far I have found pmap, and could use that (how do I restrict to 3 at a time? looks like it uses 32 at a time - no, source says 2 + number of processors), but it seems like this is a basic primitive that should already exist somewhere. clarification: I really would like to control the number of threads. I have processes that are long-running and use a fair amount of memory, so creating a large number and hoping things work out OK isn't a good approach (example which uses a significant chunk available mem). update: Starting to write a macro that does this, and I need a semaphore (or a mutex, or an atom i can wait on). Do semaphores exist in Clojure? Or should I use a ThreadPoolExecutor? It seems odd to have to pull so much in from Java - I thought parallel programming in Clojure was supposed to be easy... Maybe I am thinking about this completely the wrong way? Hmmm. Agents?

I'm most of all trying to make sure that such a lib does not exist yet, so I know my time is not wasted when I start to design and write such a thing. It's supposed to provide a great foundation to write editing UI components.

Using my ISerializable implementation instead of DataContractSerializer

My WCF client and server exchange objects whose types are defined on a class library shared by both, the server and the client. These objects implement custom serialization via ISerializable. However, my custom serialization is not being used. DataContractSerializer is being used, instead. How do I force my custom serialization to be used? The reason why I need to use my own serialization is because I do trasfer some big object graphs and my serialization algorithm does a good job in compressing/speeding up things.
