  • Java's equivalent to bisect in python

    - by systemsfault
Hello all, Is there a java equivalent to python's bisect library? With python's bisect you can do array bisection with directions. For instance bisect.bisect_left does: Locate the proper insertion point for item in list to maintain sorted order. The parameters lo and hi may be used to specify a subset of the list which should be considered; by default the entire list is used.

  • Parse (extract) DTMF in Python

    - by Joseph
If I have a recorded audio file (MP3), is there any way to get the figure out the DTMF tones that were recorded in pure Python? (If pure python is not available, then Java is okay too. The point being that it should be able to run in Google Appengine)

  • Could someone give me their two cents on this optimization strategy

    - by jimstandard
Background: I am writing a matching script in python that will match records of a transaction in one database to names of customers in another database. The complexity is that names are not unique and can be represented multiple different ways from transaction to transaction. Rather than doing multiple queries on the database (which is pretty slow) would it be faster to get all of the records where the last name (which in this case we will say never changes) is "Smith" and then have all of those records loaded into memory as you go though each looking for matches for a specific "John Smith" using various data points. Would this be faster, is it feasible in python, and if so does anyone have any recommendations for how to do it?

  • Moving mysql files across servers

    - by tesmar
I have a massive MySQL database (around 10 GB), and I need to copy it to a different server (slicehost). I don't want to do a DB dump and reimport b/c I think that would take forever. Is it possible to just move the raw SQL files from one machine to the next, setup an identical mysql server, and flip the switch?

I am beginner in PHP/MySql and would develop a simple site that has user management. I like the idea of using OpenId's (like stackoverflow uses). I wonder from where to start? What should I read? • Python required variable style

    - by Adam Nelson
What is the best style for a Python method that requires the keyword argument 'required_arg': def test_method(required_arg, *args, **kwargs: def test_method(*args, **kwargs): required_arg = kwargs.pop('required_arg') if kwargs: raise ValueError('Unexpected keyword arguments: %s' % kwargs) Or something else? I want to use this for all my methods in the future so I'm kind of looking for the best practices way to deal with required keyword arguments in Python methods.

Hello, if I explicitly attempt to list the contents of a shared directory on a remote host using python on a windows machine, the operation succeeds, for example, the following snippet works fine: os.listdir("\\\\remotehost\\share") However, if I attempt to list the network drives/directories available on the remote host, python fails, an example of which is shown in the following code snippet: os.listdir("\\\\remotehost") Is anyone aware of why this doesn't work?, any help/workaround is appreciated.

    I have written a simple multi-threaded C program to access MySQL,it works fine except when i add usleep() or sleep() function in each thread function. i created two pthreads in the main method, int main(){ mysql_library_init(0,NULL,NULL); printf("Hello world!\n"); init_pool(&p,100); pthread_t producer; pthread_t consumer_1; pthread_t consumer_2; pthread_create(&producer,NULL,produce_fun,NULL); pthread_create(&consumer_1,NULL,consume_fun,NULL); pthread_create(&consumer_2,NULL,consume_fun,NULL); mysql_library_end(); } void * produce_fun(void *arg){ pthread_detach(pthread_self()); //procedure while(1){ usleep(500000); printf("producer...\n"); produce(&p,cnt++); } pthread_exit(NULL); } void * consume_fun(void *arg){ pthread_detach(pthread_self()); MYSQL db; MYSQL *ptr_db=mysql_init(&db); mysql_real_connect(); //procedure while(1){ usleep(1000000); printf("consumer..."); int item=consume(&p); addRecord_d(ptr_db,"test",item); } mysql_thread_end(); pthread_exit(NULL); } void addRecord_d(MYSQL *ptr_db,const char *t_name,int item){ char query_buffer[100]; sprintf(query_buffer,"insert into %s values(0,%d)",t_name,item); //pthread_mutex_lock(&db_t_lock); int ret=mysql_query(ptr_db,query_buffer); if(ret){ fprintf(stderr,"%s%s\n","cannot add record to ",t_name); return; } unsigned long long update_id=mysql_insert_id(ptr_db); // pthread_mutex_unlock(&db_t_lock); printf("add record (%llu,%d) ok.",update_id,item); } the program output errors like: [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 0xb7ae3b70 (LWP 7712)] Hello world!   • MS SQL 2008 and MySQL Daily Backups

    - by Tyler
Is there a quick and easy way to backup both MS SQL 2008 and MySQL, all their databases? Right now I have a batch script that runs, but I have to manually add a database each and every time, and I'm sick of maintaining it. So I want to set it up to backup all MS SQL and then all MySQL, I dont care if its two different solutions, just want the ability to backup all the databases without having to type them in. Thank you.

  • What happens when I instantiate class in Python?

    - by Konstantin
Could you clarify some ideas behind Python classes and class instances? Consider this: class A(): name = 'A' a = A() a.name = 'B' # point 1 (instance of class A is used here) print a.name print A.name prints: B A if instead in point 1 I use class name, output is different: A.name = 'B' # point 1 (updated, class A itself is used here) prints: B B Even if classes in Python were some kind of prototype for class instances, I'd expect already created instances to remain intact, i.e. output like this: A B Can you explain what is actually going on?

  • Python's cPickle deserialization from PHP?

    - by Ciantic
Hi! I have to deserialize a dictionary in PHP that was serialized using cPickle in Python. In this specific case I probably could just regexp the wanted information, but is there a better way? Any extensions for PHP that would allow me to deserialize more natively the whole dictionary? Apparently it is serialized in Python like this: import cPickle as pickle data = { 'user_id' : 5 } pickled = pickle.dumps(data) print pickled Contents of such serialization cannot be pasted easily to here, because it contains binary data.
