  • Truncated string in android spinners

    On the iPhone, if an option is too long for the area, instead of wrappeing you get a "..." at the end of the "drop down" and the user will know there is more text than is shown. I want to recreate this with android but am new to it so cant see how. I want the heights of "rows" in my layout to be uniform hence not able to wrap the text. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the example in the Dev Guide does not relate to anything in my mind. I know I am missing some fundamental points to the functionality and possibly about Uri itself.     How can I browse the SQLite database that I am creating in my app on my Android myTouch phone? When I log in through adb shell, sqlite3 gives me a permission denied. Is there another way to check if my database and tables are actually being created, and if rows are being inserted? I am not able to use the emulator, since it doesn't play videos etc. very well that is the main feature of my app, so I can only test on phone. Thanks Chris

  • Gigantic Tabs in Eclipse on Ubuntu

    Short version: How do I make a short version of Eclipse's tabs & toolbars in Ubuntu? I've been looking around for a fix to this on Google, but to no avail. With any GTK theme, I still have this same issue and it's very, very annoying--to the point where I've stopped using Eclipse in favor of gEdit. However, after running pylint from a terminal too. many. times. I've decided I need to find a solution to this issues with Eclipse so I can have PyDev back. Here's what the tabs look like: As you can see, not only are the tabs exaggerated, but the toolbar is, too: so is the toolbar on the bottom; so are the tabs in the bottom pane. Overall, it's eating up a lot of screen space, which is a hard item to come by on a 17" screen. Any suggestions/fixes?

    I have a question about postDelayed. The android docs say that it adds the runnable to the queue and it runs in the UI thread. What does this mean? So, for example, the same thread I use to create my layout is used to run the Runnable?   • Android problem: BufferedReader wont read whole stream into a string

    Hi all! I'm making an android program that retrieves content of a webpage using HttpURLConnection. I'm new to both Java and Android. Problem is: Reader reads whole page source, but in the last while iteration it doesn't append to stringBuffer that last part. Using debbuger I have determined that, in the last loop iteration, string buff is created, but stringBuffer just doesnt append it. I need to parse retrieved content. Is there any better way to handle the content for parsing than using strings. I've read on numerous other sites that string size in Java is limited only by available heap size. Anyone know what could be the problem. Btw feel free to suggest any improvements to the code. Thanks!     Hi, i have created 3 tabs using the TabActivity. The class declaration is like this. public class ABTM extends TabActivity { ........ some code .......... } now i want to create a Menu with three menu items. but the problem is that the **@Override public boolean OnCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu){ }** gives error. It says that i should remove the @Override. When i remove the @Override the error is gone and the application runs fine but pressing the menu button does nothing. What am i doing wrong here?

    Hi, I have an activity that uses VideoView and MediaController. I have a .mp4 file. (1) When I put the file in res/raw folder, I can play the video using Uri.parse("android.resource://<package>/" + R.raw.id_video) (2) However, when I put the same file in the file-system, it plays properly.
