  • Update NSView in function of events

    - by Forchita
    Hi everyone! I have a main view (subclass of NSView) and as i'm new to cocoa, i'd like to know how to update the view in function of events. I know there are many methods that take events such as -(void)mouseMoved:(NSEvent*)event or - (void)mouseClicked:(NSEvent*)event My algorithm to determine what to do is ready. I want to know where I should update the main view: is it in the -(void)mouseMoved:(NSEvent*)event or in the - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect. And if it is in drawRect, then how should i pass the information to it? Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery click event behaves differently with live function in Firefox

    - by fjsj
    Using the event click with live function leads to strange behavior when using Firefox*. With live in Firefox, click is triggered when right-clicking also! The same does not happen in Internet Explorer 7 neither in Google Chrome. Example: Without live, go to demo and try right clicking the paragraphs. A dialog menu should appear. With live, go to demo and try right clicking "Click me!". Now both dialog menu and "Another paragraph" appear. *tested with firefox 3.5.3

  • Javascript: Perform function on form submit

    - by flight643
    Hopefully this is a pretty simple question! I've got the code working in jQuery to listen for a specific form on a page to be submitted and perform an alert when it is.. I.e.: The form itself doesn't have a name so I am targetting the form within a specific form ID. $("#content form").submit(function() { alert("lorem ipsum dolor?"); }); What would be the syntax for performing this in javascript alone without using jquery? For example, I have this code (below) and just am unsure of how to listen for the form to be submitted to perform an action.. var submitform = document.getElementById("content").getElementsByTagName("form"); Thanks!

  • Interaction between for loops with clock function?!

    - by learningtolive
    Can someone explain me the exact interaction in context of delay between the two for loops with clock function. How does for1 interact with for2 on the cout statement(30 on 640000000)? start=clock(); cout<<endl<<start<<endl; for(delay=0; delay<30; delay++) for(i=0; i<640000000; i++); end=clock(); cout<<end<<endl; cout<<"Num of ticks for non reg-loop: "; cout<<end-start<<'\n';

  • Does this have anything to do with endian-ness?

    - by eSKay
    This piece of code: #include<stdio.h> void hello() { printf("hello\n"); } void bye() { printf("bye\n"); } int main() { printf("%p\n", hello); printf("%p\n", bye); return 0; } output on my machine: 0x80483f4 0x8048408 [second address is bigger in value] on Codepad 0x8048541 0x8048511 [second address is smaller in value] Does this have anything to do with endian-ness of the machines? If not, Why the difference in the ordering of the addresses? Also, Why the difference in the difference? 0x8048541 - 0x8048511 = 0x30 0x8048408 - 0x80483f4 = 0x14 Btw, I just checked. This code (taken from here) says that both the machines are Little-Endian #include<stdio.h> int main() { int num = 1; if(*(char *)&num == 1) printf("Little-Endian\n"); else printf("Big-Endian\n"); return 0; }

  • testing existing attribute of a @classmethod function, yields AttributeError

    - by alex
    i have a function which is a class method, and i want to test a attribute of the class which may or may not be None, but will exist always. class classA(): def __init__(self, var1, var2 = None): self.attribute1 = var1 self.attribute2 = var2 @classmethod def func(self,x): if self.attribute2 is None: do something i get the error AttributeError: class classA has no attribute 'attributeB' when i access the attribute like i showed but if on command line i can see it works, x = classA() x.attributeB is None True so the test works. if i remove the @classmethod decorator from func, the problem disapears. if i leave the @classmethod decorator, it only seems to affect variables which are supplied default values in the super-class's constructor. whats going on in the above code?

  • Difference of answers while using split function in Ruby

    - by N L
    Given the following inputs: line1 = "Hey | Hello | Good | Morning" line2 = "Hey , Hello , Good , Morning" file1=length1=name1=title1=nil Using ',' to split the string as follows: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/,\s*/) I get the following output: puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >Hey >Hello >Good >Morning However, using '|' to split the string I receive a different output: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/|\s*/) puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >H >e >y Both the strings are same except the separating symbol (a comma in first case and a pipe in second case). The format of the split function I am using is also the same except, of course, for the delimiting character. What causes this variation?

  • Accessing 'data' argument of with() function?

    - by Ken Williams
    Is it possible, in the expr expression of the with() function, to access the data argument directly? Here's what I mean conceptually: > print(df) result qid f1 f2 f3 -1 1 0.0000 0.1253 0.0000 -1 1 0.0098 0.0000 0.0000 1 1 0.0000 0.0000 0.1941 -1 2 0.0000 0.2863 0.0948 1 2 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 1 2 0.0000 0.7282 0.9087 > with(df, subset(.data, select=f1:f3)) # Doesn't work Of course the above example is kind of silly, but it would be handy for things like this: with(subset(df, f2>0), foo(qid, vars=subset(.data, select=f1:f3))) I tried to poke around with environment() and parent.frame() etc., but didn't come up with anything that worked. Maybe this is really a question about eval(), since that's how with.default() is implemented.

  • design function: underlying structure to store list of results for print to file

    - by forest.peterson
    is this a good approach to print a list of items to csv file with a sublist attached to each item. The gist of the function is when an item is found that does not exactly macth then a list of close matches is generated - this works now writing out one list at a time to a command window. For export to a csv file I think all the lists must be generated, stored and then written at once. Right now I use a struct to store the attributes printed, each struct is an item on the list - these structs are then added to a sorted stack and when printed they pop off into write out. Is a stack of stacks of structs a good design?

  • C++ performance, optimizing compiler, empty function in .cpp

    - by Dodo
    I've a very basic class, name it Basic, used in nearly all other files in a bigger project. In some cases, there needs to be debug output, but in release mode, this should not be enabled and be a NOOP. Currently there is a define in the header, which switches a makro on or off, depending on the setting. So this is definetely a NOOP, when switched off. I'm wondering, if I have the following code, if a compiler (MSVS / gcc) is able to optimize out the function call, so that it is again a NOOP. (By doing that, the switch could be in the .cpp and switching will be much faster, compile/link time wise). --Header-- void printDebug(const Basic* p); class Basic { Basic() { simpleSetupCode; // this should be a NOOP in release, // but constructor could be inlined printDebug(this); } }; --Source-- // PRINT_DEBUG defined somewhere else or here #if PRINT_DEBUG void printDebug(const Basic* p) { // Lengthy debug print } #else void printDebug(const Basic* p) {} #endif

  • Removing title from wp_list_cats()

    - by Alex
    I'm trying to remove/replace the title attribute on the category elements used by WordPress. I'm using WordPress 2.9.1, with the following code: <div id="categories"> <h3>Manufacturers</h3> <ul> <?php str_replace("title=\"View all posts filed under ","",wp_list_categories('use_desc_for_title=0&exclude=1,2,3,4,5&title_li=&hierarchical=1')); ?> </ul> </div> From what I had read this method used to work on older versions (I had never tried it though). I really don't want to hack at the interals of WordPress, or have to use a JavaScript hack, for something so straight forward. Any help is appreciated... Update below is what is created from the code above... Manufacturers Featured

  • Simple to program yet computationally difficult functions

    - by ViralShah
    I need an example of a slow Excel sheet that could exist in the real world. Problem is I'm not sure what sort of functions are computationally difficult. Are there any sort of (maths?) functions that are easy enough to program that they can be used in Excel, yet computationally expensive? Something which has a real world application is a bonus.

  • Occasional conversion error using SUM function

    - by user153777
    My app uses sql2000 and a select statement it uses will sometimes fail. Once a week or so the select returns the error 'Error Converting data type varchar to numeric' SQL: sum(case when ISNULL(form_prsn_id, -1) = irpd_prsn_id then convert(dec(11,2), case when valu_value = '' then '0' else isnull (valu_value,'0') end)* case when fmdt_deduction_flag = 'Y' then -1 else 1 end else 0 end) as client_sum The valu_value field is a varchar and stores some numeric and some varchar. But including my join and where clause filter it will always select numeric or empty string. When it is failing I can remove the SUM, see the data and know that its numeric. So why would the SUM function sometimes (say 5% of time) fail on data that is numeric. I wonder if SQL somehow "looks ahead" to ensure it could convert to decimal on more than just the rows returned without the sum. Note I have discovered a fix where I include ( where isNumeric(valu_value) = 1 ) Thanks

  • casting issue with realpath function (c programming)

    - by Ralph

I'm running Ubuntu Linux 9.04

  • jquery json function returning null

    - by ian
    I have a jquery script as below: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://www.site.com/v4/ajax/get_song_info.php", data: ({id : song_id }), dataType: "json", success: function(data) { alert( "Data: " + data ); } }); And the associated php page: <?php include_once '../connect.php'; $song_id = $_GET['id']; $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM songs WHERE id = '$song_id' LIMIT 1"); $song = mysql_fetch_row($query); $song_info = array( htmlentities($song[3]) , htmlentities($song[4]) ); header('Content-Type: application/json'); echo json_encode($song_info); ?> The php returns something like this when I call it on its own in a browser: ["Peaches","I Feel Cream (Proxy Remix)"] However when I make the jQuery call my alert shows 'Data: null'

  • Cakephp: Access data in add function

  • Lists Hash function

    - by John Retallack
    I'm trying to make a hash function so I can tell if too lists with same sizes contain the same elements. For exemple this is what I want: f((1 2 3))=f((1 3 2))=f((2 1 3))=f((2 3 1))=f((3 1 2))=f((3 2 1)). Any ideea how can I approch this problem ? I've tried doing the sum of squares of all elements but it turned out that there are collisions,for exemple f((2 2 5))=33=f((1 4 4)) which is wrong as the lists are not the same. I'm looking for a simple approach it there are any.

  • PCI function number for SATA AHCI controller

    - by Look Alterno
    I'm debugging a second stage boot loader for a PC with SATA AHCI controller. I'm able to enumerate the PCI bus and find the hard disk. So far, so good. Now, lspci in my notebook (Dell Inspiron 1525) show me: -[0000:00]-+-1f.0 Intel Corporation 82801HEM (ICH8M) LPC Interface Controller +-1f.1 Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller +-1f.2 Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller \-1f.3 Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller My question: Is SATA AHCI Controller always function 2 in any PC? If not, how I found? I don't pretend to be general; booting my notebook will be good enough, without compromise further refinements.

  • How to dynamically add a Javascript function (and invoke)

    - by whitey
    Based on a click event on the page, via ajax I fetch a block of html and script, I am able to take the script element and append it to the head element, however WebKit based browsers are not treating it as script (ie. I cannot invoke a function declared in the appended script). Using the Chrome Developer Tools I can see that my script node is indeed there, but it shows up differently then a script block that is not added dynamically, a non-dynamic script has a text child element and I cannot figure out a way to duplicate this for the dynamic script. Any ideas or better ways to be doing this? The driving force is there is potentially a lot of html and script that would never be needed unless a user clicks on a particular tab, in which case the relevant content (and script) would be loaded. Thanks!

  • MySql returning multiple rows from stored procedure / function

    - by pistacchio
    Hi, I need to make a stored procedure or function that returns a set of rows. I've noted that in a stored procedure i can SELECT * FROM table with success. If i fetch rows in a loop and SELECT something, something_other FROM table once per loop execution, I only get one single result. What I need to do is looping, doing some calculations and returning a rowset. What's the best way to do this? A temporary table? Stored functions? Any help appreciated.

  • Problem with a recursive function to find sqrt of a number

    - by Eternal Learner
    Below is a simple program which computes sqrt of a number using Bisection. While executing this with a call like sqrtr(4,1,4) in goes into an endless recursion . I am unable to figure out why this is happening. Below is the function : double sqrtr(double N , double Low ,double High ) { double value = 0.00; double mid = (Low + High + 1)/2; if(Low == High) { value = High; } else if (N < mid * mid ) { value = sqrtr(N,Low,mid-1) ; } else if(N >= mid * mid) { value = sqrtr(N,mid,High) ; } return value; }
