  • Transform a NTFS partition type into EISA

    hi there Some time ago I've installed windows 7 on my laptop which has a EISA partition with MS Vista. I really don't remember what I did(I'm silly i Know) but now, that EISA partition has NTFS type but is also hidden. Does anyone knows how can I make that NTFS partition into a EISA partition type, as it was build when I've buyed the laptop? TY

  • NetBeans remote synchronization : failed to save file

    Hi, I'm using NetBeans in a project, making use of remote sync to save both locally and to a FTP server. This feature works in other projects, but this time is failing when trying to save the file to the remote server. The IDE log tells me that had occurred a unknown error, as well as this : Upload failed: org.netbeans.modules.php.project.connections.TransferInfo [transfered: [], failed: {index.php=Cannot upload file index.php (unknown reason).}, partially failed: {}, ignored: {}, runtime: 61136 ms] Cannot logout from server The version of the IDE is 6.8.   • Loosing network cached passwords after a restart on Vista

    The passwords cached for Network shares on other computers and applications like MSN Live, MS Outlook, Sharepoint portal, Outlook Webmail, etc are lost when I reboot my computer, which runs on Vista. I always check the Remember password checkbox in applications/login dialogs where ever prompted. I cannot imagine of a third party program that may clean up this on system restart/shutdown. Any idea, as to what is going wrong?

  • Can't uninstall trial version of Expression Blend 3, error writing to file Config.msi

    I can not remove a trial version of MS Expression Blend 3 from my pc. I am always getting the same error: "Error writing to C:\Config.msi\6e6288.rbf." The name of the file varies. On the error message window there are two buttons: "Retry" and "Cancel", but clicking on any of them gives the same result - uninstall is cancelled and everything is rolling back. I tried to change access permissions to that folder in many ways, but result all the same.

  • Windows powering off after "preparing your desktop" stage.

    Windows 7 64 bit. The only recent change was I installed two updates for MS Office, and a cumulative security update for IE. As soon as I choose a user and login, after loading my user profile it states the preparing your desktop message, and then powers off. I have used DaRT to check the event log, but nothing is recorded. Ideas?

    In the default email client in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, how can arbitrary files(.zip, .mp3, .txt, .pdf etc) be attached. As the storage is sand-boxed, the file handler can implement hooks to the email client, as MS-Office does and Adobe Reader doesn't, but the email client can not access files in the Phone's storage. Is there a way, or a work around? I my usage pattern, I tend to send a lot of pdfs, and am unable to do that!

  • What's the advantage of OpenVPN over SSTP?

    If considering Windows only environment, what's the advantage of introducing OpenVPN as the company VPN service, instead of Windows built-in protocols? Especially the new SSTP protocol already overcome the one of the weakness of PPTP, which may not go over firewall/NAT. I'm wondering is there any reason not to use Windows integrated solution. The strength of the security can be an issue but I'm not sure how different they are (I know MS VPN was vulnerable but is it still?) Thanks.

    Is there a simple way in MS Word to get large quotation marks tightly round a paragraph of text, like you might see in print media to mark a quote? If you simply increase the font size of the quote character, it moves too far away from the text it's accompanying. Worse, the first and last lines start to detach from the rest of the paragraph.     Is it possible to edit contents of e-mail messages (including headers) in any mailbox stored on Exchange Server (Exchange Server 2010 SP3 UR2 - 14.3.158.1)? Or, alternatively, edit the email messages in the OST file (of MS Outlook), so that they then can be synchronized with the Exchange server? PS.     Trying to manually remove an entry from Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. (custom software, not MS KB patch or windows component and not doing anyting 'funky' like trying to stop itself form being uninstalled) Followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481 removing all applicable registry keys for program from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ and even tried rebooting but still it persists. Double checked followed KB314481 and search for program name doesn't return any other matches in that part of the registry. Any ideas what would cause this or how to solve?

  • LPR on Windows: Can you specify # of copies?

    In Linux, you can use lpr -#5 foo.txt to get 5 copies of a document when sending to an LPD-based print server. The Windows (XP, 2003, 2008) version of LPR supplied by MS doesn't seem to have this option, though. Does anyone know if there's a hidden option to specify the number of copies? Thanks.
