• Facebook Graph API: user gender

  The old Facebook API provided the user sex/gender as part of the default user data. Apparently the new Graph API does not provide that information, even though the documentation says that it does. I've heard people say that you need to request special permissions to get it and other pieces of data, but I have not been successful in getting it to work. Does anyone have an example, using the Facebook Graph API, of how to get the user's gender and/or location (city/state/country/whatever)?

  My ASP.NET app is using windows authentication. If I run the following code: WindowsIdentity wi = (WindowsIdentity)User.Identity; foreach (IdentityReference r in wi.Groups) { ListBox1.Items.Add(r.Translate (typeof (NTAccount)).Value); } if (User.IsInRole ("Everyone")) Label1.Text = "Is in role"; The listbox will contain the name of every group the user belongs to. If I then call User.IsInRole, and pass in the name of any of those groups, I always get a false. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Its zooming to some location in Africa, though the user location on map is showing correct.   Hi, I've a scenario where I need to bind to an interface - in order to create the correct type, I've got a custom model binder that knows how to create the correct concrete type (which can differ). However, the type created never has the fields correctly filled in. • Assigning a group while adding user in django-admin

  In my application, I have models that have the Users model as a Foreign key, eg: class Doctor(models.Model): username=models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) ... In the admin site, when adding a new Doctor, I have the option of adding a new User next to the username field. This is exactly what I want, but in the dialog that opens, it asks for a username and password for the new user; I would also like to be able to assign a group to this new user.   Hi, Is there a way I can delete an image that is loaded into my app from a UIImagePickerController? I want to be able to delete the image from the user's photo library when the user performs a specific action. I am prompting the user to choose a image from their library, then it gets loaded into my app at which point the app does some shnazzy animation, then actually deletes the image. Please help!

• Android Activity is displayed after user unlocks the screen

  Hi, I was wondering if anyone understood how to make your application be displayed when you unlock the screen. I have an application where the user turns on a Bluetooth device, it connects to the phone, and the user should be presented with a UI. Having them hunt for the app or using the notification menu is not a workable option (too much work and not the obvious behavior). The problem is that: When the screen is unlocked: - you can popup the activity from the background service when Bluetooth connects to a device - User is happy because the UI is right there When the screen is locked: - The application gets started but is destroyed - User unlocks the phone and nothing is there but the homescreen One work around would be to disable the keyguard when the application gets woken up but the nuclear option is a pretty bad option. PS: I know the standard Android assumption is that you shouldn't do this. In the normal case this behavior is fine, but in this case I explicitly did something I want the phone to respond without adding more work for the user to do. As per Google's guidelines if you don't like this behavior there can be an option for you to turn this off or you can not use the application.

  I'll cut a really long story short and give an example of my problem. Given a class that has a pointer to a primitive type as a property: @interface ClassOne : NSObject { int* aNumber } @property int* aNumber; The class is instantiated, and aNumber is allocated and assigned a value, accordingly: ClassOne* bob = [[ClassOne alloc] init]; bob.aNumber = malloc(sizeof(int)); *bob.aNumber = 5; It is then passed, by reference, to assign the aNumber value of a seperate instance of this type of class, accordingly: ClassOne* fred = [[ClassOne alloc] init]; fred.aNumber = bob.aNumber; Fred's aNumber pointer is then freed, reallocated, and assigned a new value, for example 7. Now, the problem I'm having; Since Fred has been assigned the same pointer that Bob had, I would expect that Bob's aNumber will now have a value of 7. It doesn't, because for some reason it's pointer was freed, but not reassigned (it is still pointing to the same address it was first allocated which is now freed). Fred's pointer, however, has the allocated value 7 in a different memory location. Why is it behaving like this? What am I minsunderstanding? How can I make it work like C++ does?

• Issue allowing custom Xml Serialization/Deserialization on certain types of field

  I've been working with Xml Serialization/Deserialization in .net and wanted a method where the serialization/deserialization process would only be applied to certain parts of an Xml fragment. This is so I can keep certain parts of the fragment in Xml after the deserialization process. To do this I thought it would be best to create a new class (XmlLiteral) that implemented IXmlSerializable and then wrote specific code for handling the IXmlSerializable.ReadXml and IXmlSerializable.WriteXml methods. In my example below this works for Serializing, however during the Deserialization process it fails to run for multiple uses of my XmlLiteral class. In my example below sTest1 gets populated correctly, but sTest2 and sTest3 are empty. I'm guessing I must be going wrong with the following lines but can't figure out why.. Any ideas at all? • Castle Windsor upgrade causes TypeLoadException for generic types

  I have the following mapping in my Castle Windsor xml file which has worked okay (unchanged) for some time: <component id="defaultBasicRepository" service="MyApp.Models.Repositories.IBasicRepository`1, MyApp.Models" type="MyApp.Models.Repositories.Linq.BasicRepository`1, MyApp.Models" lifestyle="perWebRequest"/> I got this from the Windsor documentation at http://www.castleproject.org/container/documentation/v1rc3/usersguide/genericssupport.html. Since I upgraded Windsor, I now get the following exception at runtime: Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.TypeLoadException: GenericArguments[0], 'T', on 'MyApp.Models.Repositories.Linq.BasicRepository`1[TEntity]' violates the constraint of type parameter 'TEntity'.   I have a question of how to sort an anonymous type. Using Linq2SQL I have the following query, which returns a list of submissions: var submissions = EventSubmissions .Where(s => s.EventId.Equals(eventId)); Consider the following interface (somewhat simplyfied): public interface IQuerySorter { IOrderedQueryable Sort(IQueryable query); IOrderedQueryable<T> Sort<T, U>(IQueryable<T> query, Expression<Func<T,U>> selector); ... } Using this interface allows me to implement a number of 'sorters', e.g. on Date, Rating or whether or not a submission has been nominated (for voting). sortedQuery = sorter.Sort(submissions) So far so good. A submission can be made "votable". I get the number of votes a nominated submission may have using the following query: var withVoteCount = submissions .Select(s => new {NumberOfVotes = s.Votes.Count(), Submission = s}); I would like to sort this new query by NumberOfVotes using my "general" sorter class, but run into the problem that the anonymous type/member does not seem to live outside the repository-method, hence I am unable to sort on it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

• File extensions and MIME Types in .NET

  I want to get a MIME Content-Type from a given extension (preferably without accessing the physical file). I have seen some questions about this and the methods described to perform this can be resumed in: Use registry information. Use urlmon.dll's FindMimeFromData. Use IIS information. Roll your own MIME mapping function. Based on this table, for example. I've been using no.1 for some time but I realized that the information provided by the registry is not consistent and depends on the software installed on the machine. Some extensions, like .zip don't use to have a Content-Type specified. Solution no.2 forces me to have the file on disk in order to read the first bytes, which is something slow but may get good results. The third method is based on Directory Services and all that stuff, which is something I don't like much because I have to add COM references and I'm not sure it's consistent between IIS6 and IIS7. Also, I don't know the performance of this method. Finally, I didn't want to use my own table but at the end seems the best option if I want a decent performance and consistency of the results between platforms (even Mono). Do you think there's a better option than using my own table or one of other described methods are better? What's your experience?

  In a basic Unix-shell app, how would you print to stdout without disturbing any pending user input. e.g. Below is a simple Python app that echos user input. How would you work around that, so that the shell writes a new line while preserving the line the user's currently typing on?

  We've configured our Flex client to have two channels for calling our services via BlazeDS. One channel is configured to use AMFChannel and the other for HTTPChannel. The problem is that although the client can switch between channels it sends an AMF binary payload when attempting to call services via AMFX (expecting XML). The funny thing is that we can write services-config.xml to use either AMF or AMFX individually but Flex doesn't seem to want to let us use both. Is this a bug in Flex? If not how can we get it to use the correct protocol?

• llvm's getelementptr instruction with array types

  I'm trying to use array type in llvm and can't get a hold of it yet. As far as I can understand from documentation, array should grow all by itself. But how does it happen, should I just getelementptr with whatever index I have and it'll grow so that index will still be in bounds? That's not what happens, I get all sorts of funny problems which hide away the moment I create array big enough to accommodate all my data. I mean that on change or modification of data returned by that query the cache should get invalidated. I have read that in the output cache directive in the user control Sqldependency = "CommandNotification" cannot be used.
