  • What Happens if i create a byte array continuously in a while loop with different size and add read an stream into it?

    - by SajidKhan
    I want to read an audio file into multiple byte arrays , with different size . And then add into a shared memory. What will happen if use below code. Does the byte array gets over written. I understand it will creat multiple byte array , how do i erase those byte arrays after my code does what it needs to do. int TotalBuffer = 10; while (TotalBuffer !=0){ bufferData = new byte[AClipTextFileHandler.BufferSize.get(j)]; input.read(bufferData); Sharedbuffer.put(bufferData); i++; j++; TotalBuffer--; }

  • Interrupt a thread in DatagramSocket.receive

    - by SEK
I'm building an application that listens on both TCP and UDP, and I've run into some trouble with my shutdown mechanism. When I call Thread.interrupt() on each of the listening threads, the TCP thread is interrupted from listening, whereas the UDP listener isn't. To be specific, the TCP thread uses Socket.accept(), which simply returns (without actually connecting). Whereas the UDP thread uses DatagramSocket.receive, and doesn't exit that method. Is this an issue in my JRE, my OS, or should I just switch to (Datagram)Socket.close()?

  • Should i use lock.lock(): in this method?

    - by user962800
I wrote this method whose purpose is to give notice of the fact that a thread is leaving a specific block of code A thread stands for a car which is leaving a bridge so other cars can traverse it . The bridge is accessible to a given number of cars (limited capacity) and it's one way only. public void getout(int diection){ // release the lock semaphore.release(); try{ lock.lock(); //access to shared data if(direction == Car.NORTH) nNordTraversing--; //decreasing traversing threads else nSudTraversing--; bridgeCond.signal(); }finally{ lock.unlock(); } } My question is: should I use lock.lock(); or it's just nonsense? thanks in advance

  • Creating Linear Layout with TextViews using a for loop

    - by cad8
Hi all, I was wondering if there is a way to dynamically create an additional linear layout with a textview within a predefined liner layout. THis is my code so you get the gist of what I am asking: LinearLayout MainLL= (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.myLayoutId); for(int i=0; i<5; i++) { LinearLayout childLL= new LinearLayout(this); childLL.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL); childLL.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT)); childLL.setGravity(Gravity.LEFT); TextView text = new TextView(this); text.setText("The Value of i is :"i); text.setTextSize(12); text.setGravity(Gravity.LEFT); text.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); childLL.addView(text); MainLL.addView(childLL); } My problem is that I am only getting "The Value of i is :0" as the output, i.e. the first instance. Any help would be much appreciated

  • Designing DAOs for data sources other than a database

    - by James P.
Hi, Until now I've been used to using DAOs to retrieve information from databases. Other sources of data are possible though and I'm wondering if and how the pattern could be applied in general. For example, I'm now working on an application that fetches XML on the web. The XML file could be considered as a data source and the actual fetching is similar in principle to a database request. I'm not quite sure how the DAO could be structured though. Any views on the subject are welcome.

  • Inheritance question / problem

    - by Itsik
I'm creating a custom Layout for android. The layout implementation is exactly the same, but once I need to extend from RelativeLayout, and once from LinearLayout. class Layout1 extends LinearLayout { // methods and fields } class Layout2 extends RelativeLayout { // the same EXACT methods and fields } How can I use inheritance to avoid DRY and implement my methods once.

  • Is there some way to assume @Nullable as default? (using FindBugs or any other free tool).

    - by alex2k8
Consider such code public void m1(String text) { if(text == null) text = "<empty>"; System.out.println(text.toLowerCase()); } And this is a buggy version: public void m1(String text) { System.out.println(text.toLowerCase()); } If null value passed, the NullPointerException may be thrown. I would like the static-analysis tool (e.g. FindBugs) to report this issue. Unsuccessfully the FindBugs (at least by default) requires me to specify @Nullable annotation explicitly. public void m1(@Nullable String text) { System.out.println(text.toLowerCase()); // FindBugs: text must be nonnull but is marked as nullable } The problem is that if I forget to annotate it, the bug will be missed!!! How can I make the FindBugs (or any other free tool) to assume @Nullable by default?

  • @Stateless, @Remote and @Local

    - by Jeff Foster
In my deployment on JBoss 5.1.0GA with JavaEE-5 I have beans of the general form public interface Foo { void baz (); } @Stateless public class FooBean implements Foo { void baz() { // ... } } I have assumed that this is the same as if I have explicitly annotated the Foo interface with @Local. From seeing a stack trace in the code I think that it is actually using a remote interface, whereas I want all of my beans to be local. Do I need to explicitly annotate interfaces as Local or is there some default? Finding documentation on this is proving challenging so any links to relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

  • Determining an object's variable name dynamically?

    - by ZenBlender
Let's say I have some objects: ArrayList<SomeObject> list = new ArrayList<SomeObject>(); SomeObject A = new SomeObject(); SomeObject B = new SomeObject(); SomeObject C = new SomeObject(); SomeObject D = new SomeObject(); These constructors automatically add each object to the ArrayList so I can iterate over them but still maintain the variable names for direct access: public SomeObject(){ // init stuff here list.add(this); } But then, let's say I want to output some debug info, and iterate through list and print out the NAME of each object? How can I do that? Essentially, when "SomeObject A = new SomeObject();" is executed, I want to use reflection (if possible) to determine that this variable's name is "A" (a String) and either store that in the object when the constructor executes, or determine it dynamically through reflection when referencing this object with the variable named "A". Does that make sense? How can I do this? Thanks!

  • Jquery push data to the good row.

    - by marharépa
    Hi! This is my big problem. This script put the information to a table. function handleAccountFeed(result) { var entries = result.feed.getEntries(); var outputTable = ['<table><tr>', '<th>Account Name</th>', '<th>Profile Name</th>', '<th>Profile ID</th>', '<th>Table Id</th></tr>']; for (var i = 0, entry; entry = entries[i]; ++i) { var row = [ entry.getPropertyValue('ga:AccountName'), entry.getTitle().getText(), entry.getPropertyValue('ga:ProfileId'), entry.getTableId().getValue() ].join('</td><td>'); outputTable.push('<tr><td>', row, '</td></tr>'); } outputTable.push('</table>'); document.getElementById('outputDiv').innerHTML = outputTable.join(''); } I've got an own SMARTY template, which makes a table: <table id="stuffs"> <tbody> {section name=i loop=$ownsites} <tr><td>{$ownsites[i].id}</td><td>{$ownsites[i].domain}</td><td>PLACE</td></tr> {/section} <tbody> </table> I'd like to put the TableId (getTableId().getValue()) to that row's PLACE where {$ownsites[i].domain} is equal to the jquery row's Title (getTitle().getText()) How can i do this within this jQuery script?

  • Very Urgent :How to start a new session if a user click on the new tab in IE or mozilla on websphere

    - by ha22109
Hi, I have one "user search" portlet on the home page of one application running on websphere portal server.Which display the matching user records as per the search criteria filled in the search form.I have requirement to have a "back to search input" link on the results page which onclick should show the filled form on the input jsp. The issue which i am facing is if i open the application in two diff tab of same IE browser and start giving some search criteria and submit and same time search for some other input from other IE tab (in the same browser)and then go back to previous tab and click on "back to search input" link then instead of showing me the first input it will show me the imput which i entered in the next IE tab. I am setting and getting the bean(form bean) through portlet session.but in the two diff tab of same IE it will be the sae user session (and may be the same portlet session..) Please tell me solution for this. The one thing to be notice here is i can access this "user search" application even without doing login also.so it must be taking the default portlet session in this case. what wil happen once i login and then search, will it going to overwrite the portlet session and http session or howz is that?

  • Do null SQLite Data fields take up extra memory?

    - by CSharperWithJava
I'm using the built in sqlite library on the Android platform. I'm considering adding several general purpose fields that users will be able to use for their own custom applications, but these fields will be blank most of the time. My question is, how much overhead will these blank fields add to my database? Do null fields even take up per record memory in sqlite? If so, how much? I don't quite understand the inner workings of a sqlite database.

  • Can I replicate some of the optimisations done by the JVM by hand?

    - by Subb
I'm working on a Sudoku solver at school and we're having a little performance contest. Right now, my algorithm is pretty fast on the first run (about 2.5ms), but even faster when I solve the same puzzle 10 000 times (about 0.5ms for each run). Those timing are, of course, depend of the puzzle being solved. I know the JVM do some optimization when a method is called multiple time, and this is what I suspect is happening. I don't think I can further optimize the algorithm itself (though I'll keep looking), so I was wondering if I could replicate some of the optimizations done by the JVM. Note : compiling to native code is not an option Thanks!

  • Accessing loop iteration in a sub-function?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
I'm using the Google Maps API to plot several points on a map. However, in the click event function below, i is always set to 4, i.e. its value after iterating the loop: // note these are actual addresses in the real page var addresses = new Array( "addr 1", "addr 2", "addr 3", "addr 4" ); for (var i = 0; i < addresses.length; i++) { geocoder.getLatLng(addresses[i], function(point) { if (point) { var marker = new GMarker(point); map.addOverlay(marker); map.setCenter(point, 13); GEvent.addListener(marker, "click", function() { // here, i=4 marker.openInfoWindowHtml("Address: <b>" + addresses[i] + "</b>"); }); } }); } So when the marker displays it's using addresses[4] which is undefined. How do I pass the correct value of i to the function?

  • Swing: Programmatically select a text

    - by HH
Hey everyone, I have a very simple Swing GUI with just a JTetxtArea. I am trying to programmatically select a part of text using: textArea.select(startSelection, endSelection); This work. However as soon as I add some other components to the GUI I do not see selection anymore frame.getContentPane().add(button); frame.getContentPane().add(textArea); textArea.select(startSelection, endSelection); I suspect that during layouting the gui, some event causes the text to be deselected. Am I right? And could anybody suggest a solution? My goal is to have a program which displays a text, and allows the user to input start and end selection position, and a selection appears between these two position. Thank you.

  • setfirstresult & setmaxresult in child collection

    - by Miguel Marques
I have and entity lets call it Entity, and a Child collection Children. I have a screen where the user has the Entity information, and a list with the Children collection, but that collection can be get very big, so i was thinking about using paging: get the first 20 elements, and lazy load the next only if the user explicitly presses the next button. So i created in the Entity Repository a function with this signature: IEnumerable<Child> GetChildren(Entity entity, int actualPage, int numberOfRecordsPerPage) I need to use the setfirstresult and setmaxresult, not in the Agregate root Entity, but in the child collection. But when i use those two configurations, they allways refer to the entity type of the HQL/Criteria query. Other alternative would be to create a HQL/Criteria query for the Child type, set the max and first result, then filter the ones who are in the Entity Children collection (by using subquery). But i wasn't able to do this filter. If it was a bidirectional association (Child refering the parent Entity) it would be easier. Any suggestions? Any
