  • Large or small company?

    - by James
Hi, I would like to hear some opinions regarding working in small companies versus large corporations. So far, my personal experience has been that esp. for junior programmers small companies have given a more solid background, as follow-up is with experienced workers. In larger corporations on the other hand, the experienced have already worked they way way out of reach. Is this a general feeling or just my bad experience?

  • Refactoring one large list of C# properties/fields

    - by dotnetdev
If you take a look at http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/dhananjaycoder/activedirectoryoperations11132009113015AM/activedirectoryoperations.aspx, there is a huge list of properties for AD in one class. What is a good way to refactor such a large list of (Related) fields? Would making seperate classes be adequate or is there a better way to make this more manageable? Thanks

  • A file's web address is different from the local file structure

    - by allanb
I'm not sure how best to describe this (as you can clearly tell from the title) so I'll give you an example: I have a multisite Drupal installation. Each of the sites' sitemap.xml files are located on the server at /sites/example.com/files though with a browser (and to search engines) it is accessible at example.com/sitemap.xml I was wondering how this was achieved? Is this called Virtual Directory? Thank you

  • Is there a way of getting a file name and inserting into Matlab script?

    - by torr
In a folder, I have both my .m file that contains the script and an imaging .dcm file that needs to be analyzed. Folder structure: Folder1/analysis.m Folder1/meas_dynamic_123.dcm My script (analysis.m) begins as follows: target =''; <== here should go the full path to the file + filename example: /Volumes/Data/Folder1/meas_dynamic_123.m txt = dir(target); // etc So I'm wondering if there is a way of when running analysis.m it will: automatically search the folder it's in, grab the full path + filename of file containing string dynamic in the name, insert its full path + name into target variable continue running the script Does anyone have any pointers on how to achieve this? Using ffpath?

  • HTML table print large column

    - by Emma
Windows XP, IE 7 If the data in one of the column in table is more than say 800 bytes, it seems to print partial pages. Previews also appears same (span into multiple partial pages). What is the best way so that large number of rows with wide coulumns (fixed width) are printed properly without giving blank or partial page. Used table with thead and colgroup with width in 14%.

  • Parallel computation of the median of a large array

    - by recipriversexclusion
I got asked this question once and still haven't been able to figure it out: You have an array of N integers, where N is large, say, a billion. You want to calculate the median value of this array. Assume you have m+1 machines (m workers, one master) to distribute the job to. How would you go about doing this? Since the median is a nonlinear operator, you can't just find the median in each machine and then take the median of those values.

  • Dojo treemodel- adding large number of items

    - by Ashley
I am trying to add a large number of items (100+) to my tree via ForestStoreModel by calling newItem in a loop. This seems to be quite slow and locks up the browser. Is there any way I can do something similar to grid's beginUpdate & endUpdate? I want to basically 'turn off' my tree, add 100 items in a batch, then 'turn on' my tree. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Read file structure into an array, but only specific files.

    - by dmackerman
I have a directory structure that looks like this: /expandables - folder - folder - folder - folder - BannerInfo.txt - index.html Each one of the folder has the same exact stucture. One file named BannerInfo.txt and index.html. There are about 250 of these folders if that matters. I want to loop through these folders and store each of the index.html files into an array. Inside of the index.html file is just some simple HTML and Javascript of which I want to read into a string to be displayed later on. I'm struggling with how to filter out only the index.html file from the individual folders. The purpose of this is because I want to randomly select an index.html file and put the contents into a textarea. I thought I could do a simple array_rand() on the returned array and spit out the string. Any ideas?

  • How to find header dependencies for large scale projects on linux

    - by user12371
I'm working an a very large scale projects, where the compilation time is very long. What tools can I use (preferably open source) on Linux, to find the most heavily included files and that optimize their useages? Just to be clearer, I need a tool which will, given the dependencies, show me which headers are the most included. By the way, we do use distributed compiling

  • How do you handle large projects?

    - by cam
I've just inherited a large project previously coded by about 4-5 people. The documentation consists of comments, and is not very well written. I have to get up to date on this project. How do I start? It consists of many different source files. Do you just dig in? Are there tools that can help visualize the structure/flow?

  • dealing with a large flat data files with a very big record length

    - by gsp
I have a large data file that is creatd from a shell script. Next script processes it by sorting and reading several times, that takes more than 14 hours, it is not viable. I want to replace this long running script with a program, probably in JAVA, C, or COBOl, that can run on windows or on sun solaris. I have to read a group of records everytime, sort and process and write to the output sort file and at the same time insert into db2/sql tables.

  • I have this broken php upload script

    - by Anders Kitson
I have this script for uploading a image and content from a form, it works in one project but not the other. I have spent a good few hours trying to debug it, I am hoping someone could point out the issue I might be having. Where there are comments is where I have tried to debug. The first error I got was the "echo invalid file" at the beginning of the last comment. With these specific areas commented out the upload name and type that I am supposed to be grabbing from the form is not being echoed, I am thinking this is where the error is occurring, but can't quite seem to find it. Thanks. <?php include("../includes/connect.php"); /* if ((($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/gif") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/jpeg") || ($_FILES["file"]["type"] == "image/pjpeg")) && ($_FILES["file"]["size"] < 2000000)) { */ if ($_FILES["file"]["error"] > 0) { echo "Return Code: " . $_FILES["file"]["error"] . "<br />"; } else { echo "Upload: " . $_FILES["file"]["name"] . "<br />"; echo "Type: " . $_FILES["file"]["type"] . "<br />"; echo "Size: " . ($_FILES["file"]["size"] / 1024) . " Kb<br />"; echo "Temp file: " . $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"] . • Batch file reads in text file and replaces quotes with variables into new file?

    - by John
I have customer Pizza lists that i have saved into 5 seperate txt files from my database in this format: Filename = 25Percent.TXT "555-1211" "555-1212" "555-1223" ... ect Each list is a phone number in quotes and each list varies in length. Part 1: I have two sets of variables that i would like to replace with each quote in the 5 text files. The two variables would be like: Var A = < Discount Pizza price for phone number is " Var B = " 25 % So i would like to run a batch file that reads each line in the text file and writes into another text file the following, replacing the quotes with the variables: New Filename = 25Percentfinished.TXT < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1211" 25 % < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1212" 25 % < Discount Pizza price for phone number is "555-1223" 25 % Then I would repeat for 30percent.txt, then 35percent.txt, 40percent.txt, and then finally 50percent.txt file. Part II: I would also like to append the 5 new files together, with the append command? I am assuming that the SET Var command would also be used? Not sure what to do here.
