  • Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000 PC resolution slightly off

    - by user18818
I have a PC running two Nvidia 8500 GTs in SLI mode and I am trying to use my TV in dual mode. When I switch the TV to PC the screen is nearly centered with a slight offset. All resolutions are effected from 800x600 all the way up to the TVs native 1360x768. I have tried with SLI on and off and have PhysX turned off as well as I thought that might have an effect. I am running Windows XP 64-bit SP2 DirectX ver 9.0c Nvidia driver version 181.22 Any other information please let me know. Thanks in advance.

  • Converting PDF eBooks into a Kindle format

    - by Ender
Over the past couple of years I've amassed quite a collection of guides, tutorials and ebooks in PDF format. A lot of these are quite useful for work, especially PDF documentation, and rather than have to be at a computer every time I want to read how to do something in Sitecore or to read through a software testing ebook I'd like to do it on my brand-spanking-new Kindle. However, even though there is now a native PDF reader on the Kindle due to the nature of PDF's they are practically unreadable. The text doesn't wrap due to how PDF's are sized and so far after a bunch of Google searches I've yet to find a viable solution to get my PDF's converted into a readable Kindle format. Sometimes these books have code or pictures/tables in them, but most of the time they're text-heavy and to be honest I'd be surprised if there wasn't a free tool to handle the converting of PDF to one of the (seemingly many) Kindle formats. So, can anyone help me out with this?

  • How do I view the CMake command line statement that Qt Creator executes?

    - by Evan
I'm attempting to debug a command line CMake failure. The same CMake file works in Qt Creator, with the arguments in the Qt Creator window matching what I have entered on the command line. This makes me think Qt Creator is adding some extra arguments, which makes sense since the generator drop down has several options that specify architecture and CMake version. Is there a way to get the CMake command that Qt Creator executed to produce the desired result, specifically the arguments passed to the CMake executable? I found one post that talks about viewing the CMakeCache files to do some forensics, but this only proves there are differences, it doesn't quickly show me what arguments to change.

  • format specifier for short integer

    - by cateof
I don't use correctly the format specifiers in C. A few lines of code: int main() { char dest[]="stack"; unsigned short val = 500; char c = 'a'; char* final = (char*) malloc(strlen(dest) + 6); snprintf(final, strlen(dest)+6, "%c%c%hd%c%c%s", c, c, val, c, c, dest); printf("%s\n", final); return 0; } I want my executable to print aa500aastack and not aa500aasta Why I am loosing 2 byte? What is the correct format specifier for an unsighed short integer? thanks.

  • How can I force my browser to search Google in English?

    - by Tom Wijsman
I'm too bored of seeing sites like Google and such show up in my native language, I would rather like them to be in English. Yet, I have to explicitly change the URL to .com and en and that kind of parameters in order for them to show up in English. Can I somehow force this? So, how is Google configured? However, it is set to English on the site itself so it has to be my browser: Then, how does my browser land up on non-english pages, like Google? It usually shows up in non-English when I'm performing a search, which uses: {google:baseURL}search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:searchFieldtrialParameter}{google:instantFieldTrialGroupParameter}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s When performing a search, it fills these variables in with non-english values. How can I tell my browser to fill these in with the English values? My Google Chrome options give preference to English:

  • Quickly translate a word from English

    - by licorna
I'm always reading English, but I'm a Spanish native speaker (I'm working on my thesis). Sometimes I need to translate a word into Spanish, and what I do now is to open a new tab and go to Google Translate and then put the word into the input field. Just a quick translation, one word or a small phrase. I'm a Mac and Firefox user. Is there a better way to achieve this? I was thinking that maybe a dashboard widget would do the trick and I was looking for one. The other option is to install the Google Toolbar, but I really hate toolbars. I don't know, a good Firefox extension maybe?

  • Restart Delphi Application Programmatically

    - by Smasher
It should not be possible to run multiple instances of my application. Therefore the project source contains: CreateMutex (nil, False, PChar (ID)); if (GetLastError = ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS) then Halt; Now I want to restart my application programmatically. The usual way would be: AppName := PChar(Application.ExeName) ; ShellExecute(Handle,'open', AppName, nil, nil, SW_SHOWNORMAL) ; Application.Terminate; But this won't work in my case because of the mutex. Even if I release the mutex before starting the second instace it won't work because shutdown takes some time and two instance cannot run in parallel (because of common resources and other effects). Is there a way to restart an application with such characteristics? (If possible without an additional executable) Thanks in advance.

  • Which Wine DLLs should I *not* overwrite with the real thing?

    - by endolith
I have a legit installation of Windows XP and dual boot with Ubuntu (currently Karmic). WineHQ says it's possible to use DLLs from a real installation of Windows in place of "DLLs that Wine does not currently implement very well". So I'd like to just create softlinks that point to all of the DLLs in my real Windows System32 folder, under the theory that this would help things function better and behave in a less buggy, more native way. But should I go as far as replacing the Wine DLLs with the real ones? If so, are there any DLLs that need to remain the way they are for compatibility with the Linux world? Which ones are safe to replace?

  • Launch apps or run commands on Windows via shortcuts

    - by Francisc
Is it possible to register shortcuts on Windows 7 so that regardless where you are looking (Desktop, a folder etc) the shortcut gets "heard" and the appropriate action is performed. For example, creating a shortcut in the System32 folder which will work if you use Run with the shortcut's name, will not work if you set a key combination when focus is set on the Desktop for example. Is there a native way of registering top-level shortcuts or even an application for enabling this? Example of things I want keyboard shortcuts for: open a specific folder like %path% create a new .js file in the current folder launch an application eventually with its path set to the current location if the app supports this (e.g. command prompt) Thank you.

  • g++ - is using the "-g" flag for production builds a good idea?

    - by Grigory
Just to give some context, I'm talking about compiling C++ code with g++ here. I can see how including the -g flag for production builds would be convenient for maintenance: the program will be much easier to debug if it crashes unexpectedly. My question here is, does including the -g flag affect the output executable in any other way than increasing its size? Can it somehow make the code slower (e.g. by turning off certain optimizations)? From what I understand, it shouldn't (the documentation only mentions the inclusion of debug symbols), but I'm not sure.

  • Jenkins and Visual Studio Online integration authentication

    - by user3120361
right now I am trying to Setup Continuouse Integration - Delivery for a basic WCF Service, which will be hosted on a Microsoft Azure VM. The Project is Version Controlled through Visual Studio Online. So I installed Jenkins (also on the Azure VM), TFS plugin etc. and started the first Test Build: As Server URL I used "[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection" and for Login purposes my Microsoft Account (I can Access VSO with that). The Problem is, when I run the Build I get the following error: Started by user Developer Building in workspace C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins\jobs\test\workspace [workspace] $ "C:\Program Files (x86)\TEE-CLC-11.0.0.1306\TEE-CLC-11.0.0\tf.cmd" workspaces -format:brief -server:[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection ****" An error occurred: Access denied connecting to TFS server [VSO Adress] (authenticating as har****@*******o.com) FATAL: Executable returned an unexpected result code [100] ERROR: null Finished: FAILURE So my question is, whether it is generally possible to connect Jenkins and VSO that way and if so, which login credentials are needed

  • Cannot install wireless lan service on windows 2012 RTM offline

    - by user1763118
I'm having trouble installing the wireless lan service offline with a fresh installed windows 2012 server RTM. I tried "install-windowsfeature wireless-networking" in the non-gui mode and using the server manager in the gui mode to enable the wireless lan service, but both of them show a "failure configuring windows updates" message after the installation restarted the system. I checked the event log and I think messages about "The WLAN Autoconfig service depends on the following service: nativewifip. This service might not be installed" are the source of the issue. Google shows it is a service called "native wifi filter", but I cannot find anywhere to install that service. I don't have a Ethernet adapter for that computer, so have to install everything offline before the wifi's working.

  • Lightweight PHP server to bundle with application?

    - by munchybunch
Does there exist some sort of PHP server that can be bundled with a locally-deployed application? It sounds wonky, but the end result is I can't use a remote web server to do anything. Clients will be downloading a package, and the plan is to use a Java backend that reads from a flat file. The flat file contains settings and is modified through a GUI written in HTML/JS, and this is where the server would come in. The forms in HTML should be able to submit to the server, which does a simple file write to the flat file. Is there any simple, lightweight server that has that simple feature? When running the executable for the application, it would start the installation process for the server before moving the web GUI files to the appropriate locations. Note that I'm doing this for a client, so I can't quite change the reqs and would rather not discuss their effectiveness. I would be ever thankful if people had suggestions for the server though!

  • The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll

    - by Psilokan
As I had feared some of our old VB6 projects are not playing nice with Windows 7. Some of our customers have already upgraded and our one product is returning this error every time you run the executable: The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll First thing I tried was creating a .local in the folder so it uses all the DLL and OCX files packaged with the product. That didn't do anything, though I'm not sure if this .local trick still works in Win7. Tried turning on compatibility for several previous versions of Windows, that had no effect either. Hopefully someone else has some more suggestions, as my Google-Fu has failed me on this one.

When the message box asks you if you would like to run the application, an exception is thrown: 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): android.content.ActivityNotFoundException: Unable to find explicit activity class {com.xxx.xxx/com.android.internal.app.ResolverActivity}; have you declared this activity in your AndroidManifest.xml? 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.Instrumentation.checkStartActivityResult(Instrumentation.java:1 480) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.Instrumentation.execStartActivity(Instrumentation.java:1454) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.Activity.startActivityForResult(Activity.java:2660) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.Activity.startActivity(Activity.java:2704) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.packageinstaller.InstallAppDone.onClick(InstallAppDone.java:105 ) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.View.performClick(View.java:2344) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.View.onTouchEvent(View.java:4133) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.widget.TextView.onTouchEvent(TextView.java:6504) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.View.dispatchTouchEvent(View.java:3672) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:882) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:882) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:882) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:882) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.superDispatchTouchEv ent(PhoneWindow.java:1712) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.superDispatchTouchEvent(PhoneW indow.java:1202) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.Activity.dispatchTouchEvent(Activity.java:1987) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.dispatchTouchEvent(P honeWindow.java:1696) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1658) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java: 791) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) 02-03 16:42:44.270: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(395): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) The crash happens because com.android.internal.app.ResolverActivity is trying to find a (single) component which resolves the following intent: <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> Please note that this has been tested BOTH with the AppInstaller, and the actual Marketplace on a real device.

  • Issue with Visual C++ 2010 (Express) External Tools command

    - by espais
I posted this on SuperUser...but I was hoping the pros here at SO might have a good idea about how to fix this as well.... Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): * couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

  • iSightAudio.plugin error when playing video using MediaPlayer

    - by Elisabeth
I am working on creating a simple iPhone app that plays a movie via URL. When I Build&Run to test in the simulator, it works fine; as soon as I start playing the movie, I get the following message in the console: [1757:4b03] Cannot find executable for CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x820ffe0 </Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/iSightAudio.plugin> (not loaded) [1757:4b03] Cannot find function pointer iSightAudioNewPlugIn for factory 9BE7661E-8AEF-11D7-8692-000A959F49B0 in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x820ffe0 </Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/iSightAudio.plugin> (not loaded) I don't get this error on other programs, so I assume it has something to do with this specific program, which uses the MediaPlayer.framework. Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix it? Thank you

  • How to catch exceptions from another program (for logging)?

    - by CuriousCoder
I am working on a tool that monitors a number of applications and ensures they are always running and in a clean state. Some of these applications have unhandled exceptions which do occur periodically and present the 'send crash report' window. I do not have the source code to these applications. Is there any mechanism I could use to catch the exceptions, or simply identify their exception type, as well as identify the application's main executable file that threw the exception. I'm not trying to do anything crazy like catch and handle it on the applications behalf, I'm simply trying to capture the exception type, log it and then restart the application.
