• Does Unity have existing support for Timelines?

  I am planning the development of a game in Unity3D, and trying to come to terms with what the engine has already provided, and what I must code myself. The game itself is going to be a rhythm game, which means synching audio and graphical events so that they always play when they're supposed to. What I'm looking to avoid is a potential scenario of lag where either the audio or the graphics starts to progress faster than the other. When we discussed this type of coordinating system in my game design class back at university, my professor called this type of design a "Timeline" class. The idea being that you can instantiate one or more of these to progress at different rates, schedule things to happen in the future, and synch up periodic events. However, calling this a "Timeline" class seems to have been limited to my professor himself, as googling for whether a certain API features "Timeline" functionality has been a fruitless endeavor. Is there some more common name for this kind of functionality? Does Unity have any pre-existing methods to coordinate the scheduling of events like this, or is this the kind of thing that needs to be built onto the engine? And if it does, I'd appreciate being pointed towards some tutorials!

• No WIFI or LAN on Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 Live CD/USB using Toshiba qosmio x870

  I recently had issues with secure boot and couldn't boot the Live CD/USB but after disabling secure boot, I was able to 'TRY UBUNTU'. My currently problem is that I can't access WIFI or LAN from either Ubuntu 12.04 or 12.10 Live CD/USB which I do from Windows 8. Also, the wireless button is able to turn on and off the wireless LED but doesn't find available WIFI. Please, what should I do to get both WIFI and LAN working on Ubuntu using Toshiba qosmio x870? • usb wifi dongle on ubuntu server, cannot install realtek driver RTL 8188cus

  I got cheap Ebay wifi dongle from HongKong, Im trying to set it up on my ubuntu server. Occasionally need to move server, so it cannot always be connected to router via lan. Anyhow, usb wifi came with a driver cd. • Transfer page from internal to external

  Afternoon all! Currently I have a website with a list of audio products (essentially a search engine for audio deals). http://www.soundplaza.co.uk Once you go to the details page, you can then press the 'view deal' button to go to providers site e.g. = http://www.soundplaza.co.uk/all-deals/113/bookshelf-speakers/acoustic-energy-1 This jump between two sites is a bit harsh and I would like to show a transition page, to simply ease them into another site and not scare them off. Within this tradition page I will have a simple loading gif and some graphics showing that your transferring. QUESTION: What is the best way to send the details (link, product name etc) to this transfer page, to then wait 5 seconds, to then move on to the desired link... this can in NO WAY damage my SEO, if anything rel="nofollow" would be great if possible. Currently I have seen that you can submit form to the transition page, then you can use php sleep and then php header to transfer... however I am not sure if php header will transfer SEO value tot he provider?   As part of an academic project, I am trying to access the dialogue files (whether audio or text) from a variety of sports video games (Madden or NBA 2kX would be fantastic). I have searched extensively on other sites (scholarly text-mining publications, r/gaming, r/madden, modding sites, etc.) for guidance in how to extract dialogue files, but have been unsuccessful. Given that I don't have even the domain specific language to ask the right question (i.e. the resources I am seeking are out there, I just can't find them) I am asking the SE game dev community for help with the 2 following questions: Is there a canonical resource that I should study that would get me started with how to extract text or audio files from games? I am very fluent in python, which usually excels at mining information from sources, but I struggle with knowing where to start with a video game (as opposed to a more familiar database with a defined API). Is this even feasible, or are protections included with newer games (e.g. NBA 2k13) going to make extraction of these resources in a programmatic way impossible? Thank you for your help!

• Gotcha when using JavaScript in ADF Regions

  You use the ADF Faces af:resource tag to add or reference JavaScript on a page. However, adding the af:resource tag to a page fragment my not produce the desired result if the script is added as shown below <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1" xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"> <af:resource type="javascript">   function yourMethod(evt){ ... } </af:resource> Adding scripts to a page fragment like this will see the script added for the first page fragment loaded by an ADF region but not for any subsequent fragment navigated to within the context of task flow navigation. The cause of this problem is caching as the af:resource tag is a JSP element and not a lazy loaded JSF component, which makes it a candidate for caching. To solve the problem, move the af:resource tag into a container component like af:panelFormLayout so the script is added when the component is instantiated and added to the page.  <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.1" xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"> <af:panelFormLayout> <af:resource type="javascript">   function yourMethod(evt){ ... } </af:resource> </af:panelFormLayout> Magically this then works and prevents browser caching of the script when using page fragments.

• Internal Mic not working on Dell Adamo 13

  So I'm using Elementary Luna Beta (based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) on a spare HDD after successfully using Jupiter release (based on 10.10) for many years. In Jupiter I had my internal mic work out of the box and with Skype installed from deb it was all setup without having to step foot inside the terminal. In Luna Beta the internal mic is not recognised by the OS and so also not recognised by Skype. I'm able to switch out my Luna HDD with the Jupiter HDD to help troubleshoot what the differences are between the two and why the more recent OS can't find / use the mic correctly. • Connect to bluetooth device from command line

  Background: I'm using my bluetooth headset as audio output. I managed to get it working by the long list of instructions on BluetoothHeadset community documentation, and I have automated the process of activating the headset as default audio output into a script, thanks to another question. However, since I use the bluetooth headset with both my phone and computer (and the headset doesn't support two input connections) in order for the phone not to "steal" the connection when handset is turned on, I force the headset into a discovery mode when connecting to the computer (phone gets to connect to it automatically). So even though the headset is paired ok and would in "normal" scenario autoconnect, I have to always use the little bluetooth icon in the notification area to actually connect to my device (see screenshot). What I want to avoid: This GUI for connecting to a known and paired bluetooth device: What I want instead: I'd want to make the bluetooth do exactly what the clicking the connect item in the GUI does, only by using command line. I want to use command line so I can make a single keypress shortcut for the action, and would't need to navigate the GUI every time I want to establish a connection to the device. The question: How can I attempt to connect to a specific, known and paired bluetooth device from command line? Further question: How do I tell if the connection was successful or not?

  At the Moment I finished the first game with my game engine(if I wanna call it like that) which is based in LWJGL. Now i'm worring if I could do crossplattforming in my engine. I build me a tool tool with a batch file to compile my project dir into an .exe . At first i'm looking to do it on Android with an comparable batch file. An link for an tutorial would be awesome! At next place there would be an renderer and audiosystem. If read that theres an OpenGL ES renderer, and I allready played a bit around with the Android SDK. But I use the Texture and Audio class in slick-util. So I thought about creating OOP classes that carry around the data and load it in an platform specific Buffer.   I'm getting really low battery life under ubuntu, not even close to windows. I tried powertop, and I saw that my laptop is consuming in idle nearly 20 watts (a bit more). I tried to install laptop-mode-tools, change "good" into "bad" in powertop, but nothing changes. I see that I have the the HD audio output device which is running at 100% every time. Could this be the problem? This is a report from powertop. • Discs in DVD Drive not being read

  Does anyone have an experience with Ubuntu that is no longer reading discs in the DVD drive? This is my first time Ubuntu does not see the disc :| The disc is fine and works on my other Ubuntu computers. The drive is there and powered. I can even type in eject in a terminal and the drive will open. Using the command: sudo lshw -C disk I am able to see info about my drive too. Actually BOTH of my internal DVD drives cannot read discs anymore. • Ubuntu 12.10: Installing proprietary Nvidia driver causes freeze at boot

  Ok, so I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop, and I immediately encountered an issue: the HDMI audio output won't work. Yes, I know about the sound settings thing where you have to select the HDMI option, but even when it's selected I get no sound out of the TV I'm hooking it up to. This is a dealbreaker for me, because my laptop speakers are terrible, it's one of the big reasons I use my TV monitor. So I decided to work on solving the problem by upgrading my Nvidia drivers. I switched to one of the propriety drivers offered in that software updating utility that comes with the OS, the one option that said (tested). Viola, sound over the HDMI is now working. Unfortunately, this now brings me to my next problem: when I reboot Ubuntu with this or any other proprietary driver installed, it freezes when it tries to load my desktop. As in I can see my wallpaper, but no icons or options of any kind. The system is totally frozen, and gives me one of those "we've experienced an error, do you want to report it messages." So there's my bind. I need HDMI audio out, that's a total dealbreaker for me, but installing the drivers that give me that capability crash the system. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this

We want to start telling Google these pages are mobile-crawl-able too, by adding them to mobile sitemaps, but the documentation is unclear if I need to specify physically different files for my mobile URLs than for my normal ones.   I'm trying to record an mpeg2 video stream from a website that doesn't have the greatest bandwidth. The video often buffers. I want to download the stream and watch it offline. Anyone know what's wrong or how to fix this?
