  • Find overdrawn accounts in SQL

    Hey guys, I have a program that allows me to run queries against a large database. I have two tables that are important right now, Deposits and withdraws. Each contains a history of every user. I need to take each table, add up every deposit and withdraws (per user), then subtract the withdraws from the deposits. I then need to return every user whos result is negative (aka they withdrew more then they deposited). Is this possible in one query? Example: Deposit Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |1 | Use1 |100.00| |2 | Use1 |50.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | WithDraw Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |2 | Use2 | 5.00 | |1 | Use1 |100.00| |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | So then the result would output: |OverWithdrawers| | Use2 | Is this possible (I sure don't know how to do it)? I can't seem to remember the safe way to cast this to call hide if it is really of type Control and do nothing otherwise.   • Find common nodes from two linked lists using recursion

    I have to write a method that returns a linked list with all the nodes that are common to two linked lists using recursion, without loops. For example, first list is 2 - 5 - 7 - 10 second list is 2 - 4 - 8 - 10 the list that would be returned is 2 - 10 I am getting nowhere with this.. What I have been think of was to check each value of the first list with each value of the second list recursively but the second list would then be cut by one node everytime and I cannot compare the next value in the first list with the the second list. I hope this makes sense... Can anyone help?

  • C++ Memory Leak, Can't find where

    I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Developing an OpenGL window. I've created several classes for creating a skeleton, one for joints, one for skin, one for a Body(which is a holder for several joints and skin) and one for reading a skel/skin file. Within each of my classes, I'm using pointers for most of my data, most of which are declared using = new int[XX]. I have a destructor for each Class that deletes the pointers, using delete[XX]. Within my GLUT display function I have it declaring a body, opening the files and drawing them, then deleting the body at the end of the display. But there's still a memory leak somewhere in the program. As Time goes on, it's memory usage just keep increasing, at a consistent rate, which I'm interpreting as something that's not getting deleted. I'm not sure if it's something in the glut display function that's just not deleting the Body class, or something else. I've followed the steps for memory leak detection in Visual Studio 2008 and it doesn't report any leak, but I'm not 100% sure if it's working right for me. I'm not fluent in C++, so there maybe something I'm overlooking, can anyone see it?

When it gets to the base case, f is no longer a partial application, but a result of the function. Yet the function expects a function as the first argument. How can I deal with this problem?   • Need to find number of new unique ID numbers in a MySQL table

    I have an iPhone app out there that "calls home" to my server every time a user uses it. On my server, I create a row in a MySQL table each time with the unique ID (similar to a serial number) aka UDID for the device, IP address, and other data. Table ClientLog columns: Time, UDID, etc, etc. What I'd like to know is the number of new devices (new unique UDIDs) on a given date. I.e. how many UDIDs were added to the table on a given date that don't appear before that date? Put plainly, this is the number of new users I gained that day. This is close, I think, but I'm not 100% there and not sure it's what I want... SELECT distinct UDID FROM ClientLog a WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM ClientLog b WHERE a.UDID = b.UDID AND b.Time <= '2010-04-05 00:00:00' ) I think the number of rows returned is the new unique users after the given date, but I'm not sure. And I want to add to the statement to limit it to a date range (specify an upper bound as well).

The length() method of the XMLList class returns a value of 1 for an XMLList object that contains only one value. i called it on an xml that looked like this: <xml> <picture>1</picture> <picture>2</picture> </xml> and it reallt returned 1. how do i get the number of children in my xml?

Example: if I have: ABCDE and XABCZ then the suffix tree is (some branches from XABCZ omitted due to space): The longest common substring is ABC but it is not I can not see how the description of wiki helps here. ABC is not the deepest internal nodes with leaf nodes. Any help to understand how this works?

    I'm trying to use reflection to automatically test that all my linq2sql entities match the test database. If I debug the code, "table" is properly instantiated, and if I expand the results view in the debugger I can see actual data. BUT, I can't figure out how to get my code to actually query that table. I'd really like to just be able to do table.FirstOrDefault() to get the top row out of each table and make sure the SQL fetch doesn't fail. But I cant cast that table to be anything I can query. Any suggestions on how I can make this queryable? Just the ability to call .Count() would be enough for me to ensure the entities don't have anything that doesn't match the table columns.
