C : character; Char : character; type Myarr_Type is array (character range 'A'..'K') of character; Myarr : Myarr_Type := ('A','B','C','D','E','F','G','H','I','J','K'); Next_Address := Myarr'address Last_Address := Next_Address + Storage_Offset'(40); my_func(int P1,int P2) { return P2 + Storage_Offset'(4); } Last_Address := Next_Address + Storage_Offset'(4); Now my doubt is 1)what does P2 + Storage_Offset'(4) actually mean.Does that mean that its returning the address of the next element in the array which is 'B'.Storage_Offset'(4) in ada --does this mean 4 bits or 4 bytes of memory. 2) If i assume that Last_Address points to last element of the array which is 'K',how does the arithmentic Storage_Offset'(40) satisfies the actual implementation?   • Moving from Linear Probing to Quadratic Probing (hash collisons)

    Hi, My current implementation of an Hash Table is using Linear Probing and now I want to move to Quadratic Probing (and later to chaining and maybe double hashing too). I've read a few articles, tutorials, wikipedia, etc... But I still don't know exactly what I should do. Linear Probing, basically, has a step of 1 and that's easy to do. When searching, inserting or removing an element from the Hash Table, I need to calculate an hash and for that I do this: index = hash_function(key) % table_size; Then, while searching, inserting or removing I loop through the table until I find a free bucket, like this: do { if(/* CHECK IF IT'S THE ELEMENT WE WANT */) { // FOUND ELEMENT return; } else { index = (index + 1) % table_size; } while(/* LOOP UNTIL IT'S NECESSARY */); As for Quadratic Probing, I think what I need to do is change how the "index" step size is calculated but that's what I don't understand how I should do it. I've seen various pieces of code, and all of them are somewhat different. Also, I've seen some implementations of Quadratic Probing where the hash function is changed to accommodated that (but not all of them). Is that change really needed or can I avoid modifying the hash function and still use Quadratic Probing? EDIT: After reading everything pointed out by Eli Bendersky below I think I got the general idea. However, in the code above, it's doing something more like c(i)=(i^2-i)/2 I was ready to implement this on my code but I would simply do: index = (index + (index^index)) % table_size; ...and not: index = (index + (index^index - index)/2) % table_size; If anything, I would do: index = (index + (index^index)/2) % table_size; ...cause I've seen other code examples diving by two. Although I don't understand why... 1) Why is it subtracting the step? 2) Why is it diving it by 2?

  • Are there any real benefits to including javascript dynamically rather than as script tags at the bo

    I've read that including the scripts dynamically may provide some better performance, however i'm not really seeing that on the small local tests I'm doing. I created a jquery plugin to dynamically load other plugins as necessary and am curious as to if this is actually a good idea. I am actually in process of writing a Pseudo distributed one using python and multiprocessing module and thus wanted to know if someone else has also tried implementing it.     Hi, Can anyone advise if its possible to pass data via JQUERY to an ASP.NET MVC controller action and have a view rendered in new browser tab based on the model data passed to the action method. My scenario is that I have a Jqgrid populated with product info on a page. The user would tick the items in the grid that they would like a label produced for. After they've made their slection they would click a button and I would like (if possible) to render a view of that contains a label for each selected item and have the view render in a new browser tab. All the code to allow the selections and post the relevant data back to the action method is all working fine and I know its easy to use the Jquery $(selector).load() command to populate an element on the current page with the HTML returned from the action. But is it possible to populate an element on a page in a new browser tab. If it is how would I go about it? Hope this make sense.

    I have a string that looks like this: "#Text() #SomeMoreText() #TextThatContainsDelimiter(#blah) #SomethingElse()" I'd like to get back [#Text(), #SomeMoreText(), #TextThatContainsDelimiter(#blah), #SomethingElse()] One way I thought about doing this was to require that the # to be escaped into \#, which makes the input string: "#Text() #SomeMoreText() #TextThatContainsDelimiter(\#blah) #SomethingElse()" I can then split it using /[^\\]#/ which gives me: [#Text(), SomeMoreText, TextThatContainsDelimiter(\#blah), SomethingElse()] The first element will contain # but I can strip it out. However, is there a cleaner way to do this without having to escape the #, and which ensures that the first element will not contain a #? Basically I'd like it to split by # only if the # is not enclosed by parentheses. My hunch is that since the # is context-sensitive and and regular expressions are only suited for context-free strings, this may not be the right tool. If so, would I have to write a grammar for this and roll my own parser/lexer?

  • Ruby on Rails: strange voting increment behavior

    So I have an up and a downvote button that inserts a vote with a value of 1 or -1 into the database. This works correctly. Then, I display the total vote count for that element by summing up its votes' values. However, this isn't working correctly, because the vote sum display is acting really strange: The first vote on a video doesn't seem to increment it at all. Then the second vote does. If I go from an upvote to a downvote, it increments up once, and then the next downvote is down. This is difficult to explain, but maybe you can figure out what is wrong with my code. I have this function in my Video model (the element that is voted on, it has_many video_votes): def vote_sum read_attribute(:vote_sum) || video_votes.sum(:value) end I also have this in my VideoVote model: after_create :update_vote_sum private def update_vote_sum video.update_attributes(:vote_sum => video.vote_sum + value) end What am I doing wrong?

    i am using movable type 4.23 (publishing system) and have been testing my site on a PC and discovered that internet explorer (IE) browsers are unable to view my site due to a conflict in the javascript of the signin widget (initially i thought it was in the mt.js file). i receive this error: "Error 80004004"...as well as in the Javascript itself: "Element is not an object" (or object is not an element?)... function mtUpdateSignInWidget(u) { var el = document.getElementById('signin-widget-content'); if i put in "id" where 'sign-widget-content' goes, it will say its not an object. all other browsers work perfectly (firefox, safari and opera on my mac and firefox on pc). if anyone wants a link to the test page, i can provide that... someone please help! thanks.

    Is there a way to load an image from some url or a local folder and then make some complex morphing to it in real time? For example, I have a vector animated pseudo 3D paper in my project that, for example, is being flipped different ways. Then I want to place some image inside that paper box and want to morph that image accordingly to the box form changes or at least make it look more realistically, not exactly the same as the paper box.     Hello, From the documentation it's clear I need to use the following to get a simple unmarshalling to occur from my XML file/schema: JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance("PackageName"); where PackageName is my package name. I've looked on google for a bit to no avail, to find out why I'm then getting this runtime error: Line:Col[2:142]:cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'myconfig'. Line:Col[2:142]:unexpected element (uri:"http://www.w3.org", local:"myconfig"). Expected elements are <{}myconfig> Caught UnmarshalException This occurs at the top of all my class files, including the ones the XJC plugin for eclipse created for me (which I then moved out of PackageName.PackageName which it automatically created): package PackageName; so why is this error occurring?

  • An event for when xVal validation fails?

    I have a registration form leveraging xVal to handle all validation on the form. It works really well, with one exception: the user doesn't get feedback because another element on the page (a tip telling the user that their username will be their email address) draws on top of the span element xVal spits out when it notices a problem. If I had a way to detect when xVal has a problem with the email field, I could just toggle the visibility of that tooltip and be on my way, but I'm not sure how to do so. I know that xVal uses jquery.validate.js under the hood; is there an event or something I could tie into to do this?

I don't understand the logic in this system... why is dijit generating the style directly inside the element? how can I change these properties? Thanks Tom

  • Storyboard elements are not sized properly on the device

    In the storyboard, I am placing a table view element into a subclassed UIView. The element is not appearing on the iPad device I am running it on the same as it appears in the storyboard however. This also happens for additional content that I place into the storyboard. Below is a screenshot as it appears in the storyboard, as well as UI width/height information. And here is the description of the UI file running on the iPad. https://gist.github.com/4323186 (embedding it directly into the post is giving me problems) You'll notice that the tableview is explicitly set at 178 width, and is showing up in the description as 276 width. My initial thought was that perhaps a cell was forcing the parent to be larger (I'm very new to iOS UI development), but drilling into that shows the prototype cell it appears that the width is defined by it's parent at 178. The image views and label also are appearing in the incorrect spot, as shown in the second image below.

    I have a bit of a special requirement when combining lists. I will try to illustrate with an example. Lets say I'm working with 2 lists of GamePlayer objects. GamePlayer has a property called LastGamePlayed. A unique GamePlayer is identified through the GamePlayer.ID property. Now I'd like to combine listA and listB into one list, and if a given player is present in both lists I'd like to keep the value from listA. I can't just combine the lists and use a comparer because my uniqueness is based on ID, and if my comparer checks ID I will not have control over whether it picks the element of listA or listB. I need something like: for each player in listB { if not listA.Contains(player) { listFinal.Add(player) } } However, is there a more optimal way to do this instead of searching listA for each element in listB?

    Ok, I have these 2 types of layouts, basically, it can be any layout really. I have decided to use tables for this, since using div tags cause undesirable results in some possible layout types. Here are 2 pics that describe the returned results of row and column: This would return the $layout array like so: $layout[0][0] $layout[0][1] $layout[1][1] In this layout type: $layout[1][0] is NOT SET, or doesn't exist. Row 1, Column 0 doesn't exist in here. So how can we use this to help us determine the rowspans...? Ok, this layout type would now return the following: $layout[0][0] $layout[0][1] $layout[1][0] $layout[2][0] $layout[2][1] $layout[3][1] Again, there are some that are NOT SET in here: $layout[1][1] $layout[3][0] Ok, I have an array called $layout that does a foreach on the row and column, but it doesn't grab the rows and columns that are NOT SET. So I created a for loop (with the correct counts of how many rows there are and how many columns there are). Here's what I got so far: // $not_set = array(); for($x = 0; $x < $cols; $x++) { $f = 0; for($p = 0; $p < $rows; $p++) { // $f = count($layout[$p]); if(!isset($layout[$p][$x])) { $f++; // It could be a rowspan or a Colspan... // We need to figure out which 1 it is! /* $not_set[] = array( 'row' => $p, 'column' => $x, ); */ } // if ($rows - count($layout[$p])) } } Ok, the $layout array has 2 keys. The first 1 is [ row ] and the 2nd key is [ column ]. Now looping through them all and determining whether it's NOT SET, tells me that either a rowspan or a colspan needs to be put into something somewhere. I'm completely lost here. Basically, I would like to have an array returned here, something like this: $spans['row'][ row # ][ column # ] = Number of rowspans for that <td> element. $spans['column'][ row # ][ column # ] = Number of colspans for that <td> element. It's either going to need a colspan or a rowspan, it will definitely never need both for the same element. Am I going about this whole thing the wrong way? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!! I've been driving myself crazy with this for days! Pllleaase...
