If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate any advice. $(this) .css({ backgroundImage : 'url(' + src + ')', // set background image backgroundPosition : 'center center', // position background image backgroundRepeat : 'no-repeat' // don't repeat image });

  • html transparent background

    - by amarsh-anand
    I want to create a webpage with transparent background, a table and some text. I have seen posts related to this, but due to my lack of familiarity with css, I somehow cant get my code to work. I just want a transparent background, while this code is making everything transparent. Can someone kindly help. <html> <head><style type="text/css"> div.transbg {background-color:#4a6c9b; opacity:0.6;} </style></head> <div class="transbg"> <body><Center><font color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Toll Charges</b> <table bgcolor="#000000" cellspacing=3> <tr> <td bgcolor="#009900"><font color="#FFFFFF" align="left"> &nbsp; &nbsp;Class 2 inc Private&nbsp;</font></td> <td bgcolor="#009900"><font color="#FFFFFF" align="right"> &nbsp;A$ 4.95 &nbsp;</font></td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#009900"><font color="#FFFFFF" align="left"> &nbsp; &nbsp;Class 2 inc Commercial&nbsp;</font></td> <td bgcolor="#009900"><font color="#FFFFFF" align="right"> &nbsp;A$ 13.95 &nbsp;</font></td> </tr> </table> <br> Toll has to be paid within 48 hrs of passage, else an additional A$ 13.95 of administration charges would be added </font></Center> </div> </body> </html>

  • id vs class selection benchmark

    - by zaf
    Has anybody bench marked selecting elements with id's and class's from CSS and javascript? It would make sense that an element with an id is faster to select than if it had a class even if it was the only element with that class. Do I really need to be concerned?

  • What is the proper way to credit public code snippets?

    - by Babiker
    This question might not be a programming problem, but its been bothering me. There is a lot of free js/css scripts out there for public use. I some times use these scripts. If any, what is the formal and proper way to credit these snippets when all i have is a name of a website and a url. I understand that a simple comment might get the job done but i wanted to know whether there is a more professional way.

    With the following CSS, anchor links end up being hidden by the navigation bar. What solution would you proposed to have the anchor link text being shown just under it? /* style and size the navigation bar */ table.navigation#top { position: fixed; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; top: 0; left: 0; z-index: 10; } thanks

  • Why are these styles not visible in IE6

    - by Laramie
    Given the following markup <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML Strict//EN"><META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <HTML xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> div.apartBox { padding:12px; background: #FFFFFF; border: solid 1px #6182A3; } .browser { background: #fff; border: solid 1px #0055E3; border-top: solid 12px #0055E3; border-bottom: solid 4px #7A99C5; padding:10px 10px 8px 14px; color: #333; font: 0.8em/1 arial; margin: 8px 20px; } .callout { background: #EEF2F0; border: solid 1px #9CC7C0; padding:8px; } </style> </head> <BODY> <div class="apartBox" id="subPopout" style="Z-INDEX: 2; WIDTH: 400px; POSITION: relative"> <div id="upSubPop"> <div class="callout" id="subDetails"> <div class="browser"> <span id="txtExample">Me afecta que digan que soy incapaz.</span> </div> </div> </div> </div> </BODY></HTML> The styles from the css .browser and .callout are not visible in IE6 unless I manually remove the position:relative style from subPopout. This div is generated automatically from a modal popup so I unfortunately can't touch this style. It displays fine in FF. If I select the .browser div with my mouse, it displays when I unselect it!

  • HTML: order of divs and a tags for href

    - by user2962389
    I'm busy with HTML and CSS and got stuck with this. I have created a button with :hover and :active options, which is centered on the page. Clicking on this button needs to lead to a website. My HTML is: <div> <a href="website"><div id="button">Text</div></a> </div> The CSS is: body, html { height: 100%; } a { text-decoration: none; } #button { text-transform: uppercase; font-size: 18px; text-align: center; padding: 1em 0.5em 0.8em; background-color: white; font-family: Myriad Pro, Source Sans Pro, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; color: #ff4700; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; border-radius: 5px; border: 1px solid #ff4700; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 50px; -webkit-transition: all .1s ease; -moz-transition: all .1s ease; -ms-transition: all .1s ease; -o-transition: all .1s ease; transition: all .1s ease; } #button:hover { background-color: #ff4700; color: white; border: 1px solid white; } #button:active { background-color: #cc3900; } The problem lies in the fact that the whole width of the page is clickable at the height of the button and not only the button itself that is 150px wide and is centered on the page. I think I have my divs mixed up and it needs other formatting and precedence, but I'm not sure. Thanks for your help! P.S. First time on StackOverflow, sorry if I formatted something wrong.

  • Override GWT Styling

    - by KevMo
    I had a beautiful pure HTML mockup for a webpage that I am now recreating in GWT. I'm attempting to use the same css in my GWT app, but that's not working well for me. GWT styles seem to override mine. I know I can completely disable the GWT styles, however I would prefer to have the styling for the GWT components that I'm adding (tab panel, button, etc). Is there a way to disable GWT styling, and only enable it for components that I choose?

  • Flexslider position of previous and next slides

    - by TJ15
    I am using the basic flexslider, I wantto display some of the previous and next , so if slide 2 is showing you will see part of slide 1 to the left and part of slide 3 to the right. <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="flexslider.css" type="text/css"> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style> .container {overflow: hidden; width: 100%} .flexslider {max-width: 500px; width: 500px; margin: 0 auto} .content {background: #f2f2f2; max-width: 500px; display: block; margin: 0 auto} .flex-viewport {overflow: visible !important} </style> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div class="container"> <div class="flexslider"> <ul class="slides"> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> <li><img src="785.jpg" /></li> </ul> </div> </div> <script src="jquery.flexslider.js"></script> <script> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { // You can use the locally-scoped $ in here as an alias to jQuery. $(window).load(function() { $('.flexslider').flexslider(); }); }); </script> </body> </html> I have reduced the image to 70% and positioned it in the middle of the page. I want to have the next and previous slides visible on either side of the main pic but no idea where to make the appropriate changes (I assume in the js file). I thought this was a margin issue but setting this to 0 in styles makes no difference. Has anyone done this and can provide some advice?

  • How to preserve sibling element position when one sibling is absolutely positioned?

    - by Casey
    In the snippet below, the child div is normally positioned until it is :hovered , when it becomes absolutely positioned. The reasoning behind this markup is to simulate a popup style in a limited environment where I can't use a <select> (among other limitations). When child is hovered, the sibling elements jump around, which is expected, as the contents of the block have changed. But how can I preserve their positioning? That is, what CSS can I add to prevent the siblings from jumping around when child is hovered. Javascript is also not allowed, so please no answers using JS. HTML: <div class="container"> <div class="child"> <span class="d4"></span> <label><input type="radio" name="radio" value="1"/>One</label> <label><input type="radio" name="radio" value="2"/>Two</label> </div> <input type="text" name="sibling"/> <button name="sibling2">Button</button> </div> CSS: .container, .child, button { display:inline-block; } .child { vertical-align: middle; width: 35px; height: 35px; } .child:hover { background: gray; position:absolute; width: 100px; height: auto; } .child:hover > .d4 { display: none; } .child label { display:none; } .child:hover label { display: inline-block; } .d4 { background-position: -411px -1px; width: 35px; height: 35px; background-image: url("https://i.imgur.com/zkgyBOi.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; color: transparent; display: inline-block; } Here's a fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/cpctZ/1/

  • Soften a colour border, maybe with a gradient, programmatically.

    - by ProfK
    I have a narrow header in corporate colour, bright red, with the content below on a just-off-white background. Ive tried softening the long line where these colours meet using border type divs with intermediate backgrounds, but I think I need the original type curved gradient 'area transitions'. I could copy the 1024px wide, and too narrow (vertically), header gif from their web site, and chop it up for eight border images, but that seems clumsy, and I'm looking for something I can apply anywhere, without needing images. I am able to do round borders in the x-y plane, but I'm curious as to how I can apply a gradient to any chosen colour transition. The extra divs I'm using as border elements above and below '#top-section' arose when I was toying with making many divs for one bordered element. This seemed the ultimate in border manipulation, sans code, but very tedious to spec in CSS and lay out a new border for each bordered element. <div id="topsection"> <div style="float: right; width: 300px; padding-right: 5px;"> <div style="font-size: small; text-align: right;"> Provantage Media Management System</div> <div style="font-size: x-small; text-align: right;"> <asp:LoginStatus ID="loginStatus" runat="server" LoginText="Log in" LogoutText="Log out" /> </div> </div> <span style="padding-left: 15px;">Main Menu</span><span id="content-title"> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="titlePlaceHolder" runat="server"> </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </span> <div style="background-color: white; height: 2px;"> </div> <div style="background-color: white; height: 3px;"></div> And the CSS: #topsection { background-color: #EB2728; color: white; height: 35px; font-size: large; font-weight: bold; }
