Hi
I have a simple problem, I have an app based on CoreData and I need to change the structure a little. How can I migrate the old structure into the new one. Just adding one attribute will chrash the whole app.
Thanks
I realize this sounds a little crazy, but I'm working on a project for which I need a server to run user-provided Ruby code and return the result.
I'm looking to prevent something like this:
system("rm -rf /")
eval("something_evil")
# etc...
I'm sure there must be some reasonably safe way to do this, as it already exists at places like tryruby.org. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Can anyone recommend decent software that could replace a physical whiteboard, as used in Agile development?
I've had a look at http://www.brightgreenprojects.com/ but ideally we'd like something we could host ourselves. We use Jira for issue tracking, and are looking at integrating GreenHopper for project management at the moment.
The general feeling among users so far seems to be that GreenHopper is a little clunky. Is there a more straight-forward agile whiteboard software tool out there?
I like the visual behavior of the DOJO TitlePane widget, but it has too much other bunk for my purpose. http://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/dijit/TitlePane.html#dijit-titlepane
Is anyone aware of a jQuery widget that provides the same ability to expose and hide content in a stacked manner with the little flippy-arrow, pane highlighting on mouse over, etc? An accordion does not accomplish my goal being able to have multiple panes open at the same time.
Thanks in advance.
Hi.
Yesterday me and my friend we've had nice conversation about IT and he asked me WHY JEE is so widely used when it comes to build complicated IT systems? From my point of view advantages are easily visible, but he is IT manager with a lot of Micro$oft experience (and little Java exp.), so I would like to hear your voice. And I'll give him a link of course.
I don't want new .NET - JAVA war - just - why JEE :)
Thanks,
orsonek
Hey Guys
We have a nasty little problem. In short we can detect if a screen is connect when x11 boots (we do this by looking at the log - Xorg.0.log), but we are having trouble detect when are screen is disconnected while the machine is running (ie post x11 boot)
Any one have any ideas?
Cheers
C and C++ are different languages, blababla we know that.
But if those language are different, why is it still possible to use function like malloc or free ? I'm sure there are all sort of dusty things C++ has because of C, but since C++ is another language, why not remove those things to make it a little less bloat and more clean and clear ?
Is it because it allows programmers to work without the OO model or because some compilers doesn't support high-level abstract features of C++ ?
I deployed hudson.war in the sun application server 9.1. I like to check how can i change the home directory of hudson to point to another directory becasue if using a .hudson directory is not ok as i have very little diskspace left in main disk drive.
Hi,
I was just wondering how I can get a single tap to undo the zoom inside of a scroll view? I cant seem to figure it out.
I was also wondering how do you know what size to set your scroll view contentSize, as I find this issue a little confusing at the moment I have it set at 460x320.
Thanks
Want to draw an UIImageView which has an CGImage, and the UIImageView has alpha 0.5f. But this CGContextDrawImage function doesnt take an transparency value. So how could I draw an image slightly transparent?
To be clear: The image itself is not transparent, but I want it to be "dimmed" a little bit. Just like you would do with an UIImageView and some alpha like 0.5f :-)
Hi,
Has anyone got any suggestions on where to start with building a google map into a rails app? I would like users to be able to add a marker by clicking the map, and have spent a few days looking for a suitable tutorial or plugin (beyond ym4r), to little avail...any help would be much appreciated!
Hi folks,
after rotating a label in flex the text still is a little bit blurry. I've made up a small example to show what I mean:

How can I avoid this? Thanks for any help!!
When I code, I always write little pieces of unit, and compile it often. This helps me to make sure that everything run correctly, but it's very time consumed. is there any programming language that can support us to do coding and running at the same time side by side ? i mean as soon as a key press leads to valid code, the effect of the edit is incorporated into the executing program.
I know little of optimization problems, so hopefully this will be didactic for me:
rotors = [1, 2, 3, 4...]
widgets = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd' ...]
assert len(rotors) == len(widgets)
part_values = [
(1, 'a', 34),
(1, 'b', 26),
(1, 'c', 11),
(1, 'd', 8),
(2, 'a', 5),
(2, 'b', 17),
....
]
Given a fixed number of widgets and a fixed number of rotors, how can you get a series of widget-rotor pairs that maximizes the total value where each widget and rotor can only be used once?
Hi
I am a c++ programmer , I know little bit about java. As in java programmer do not deal with memory directly, in C++ application most of crashes are due to memory corruptions.
So an application written in Java will never crash due to memory relate issue.
Thanks
Hi I am little new to SharePoint. Here is my question
How can we make different views for administrator VS logged in user. For instance I need to display the
quicklaunch only to admin and not for user. And user should not see site actions tab.
How can we set this. Please can anyone come up with solution or any blog that we can refer?
Thanks in advance.
So I have a little (musical) keyboard that has USB midi interface. I know you can program to this (many programs accept input from the midi device via USB interface) but where do you begin to program a midi device?
Ideally I'm looking for a platform-independent api, through Python or something.
The documentation describes the class as a helper object to create, open, and/or manage a database. Having that in mind wouldn't you say that the name is a little misleading?
i m developing a little tool on my Pocket PC using WM6 SDK but i would like to implement a finger friendly user interface (iphone-like).
So i m looking for a free .NET framework that offers the possibility to easily integrate a finger friendly interface for Windows Mobile 6 Pro .
Any ideas ?
EDIT : Finger friendly means big icons, big buttons , scrollable screens with a simple touch of the thumb... Because the Winforms in Compact framework are made for the stylus, not fingers !!
Hi! I'm writing a little website (webapp) in php+codeigniter, I'd really like to make it open source (to attract collaborators and to have a free VCS hosting).
Is that a good practice?
This mine security?
Which are the best tools to change important data before uploading? (like config files with db names and passwords used for testing etc..)
I'd like to turn off the accordian animation during page load, and then turn it back on after the page is loaded.
Basically I've got multiple forms inside the accordion sections and when submitted the page gets reloaded and the relevant section is reloaded. But during the reload the animation is triggered which looks a little ugly. But I like it when the page is not being loaded.
How do I achieve this effect?
Hi,
I noticed that neither the zip or jar targets are including empty directories. I googled a little and found this was a regression issue way back with 1.6 (.2 I think), but it was claimed to have been fixed. I was using 1.8.0 so I upgraded to 1.8.1, but am having the same issue. Anyone know of any workarounds besides adding dummy files to those directories?
Thanks,
Ben Anderson
I have an application that performs a little slow over the internet due to bandwidth reasons. I have enabled GZip which has improved download time by a significant amout, but I was also considering whether or not I could switch from XML to JSON in order to squeeze out that last bit of performance. Would using JSON make the message size significantly smaller, or just somewhat smaller? Let's say we're talking about 250kB of XML data (which compresses to 30kB).
