  • preg_match problem.

    - by SoLoGHoST
How do I add the character - within the preg_match? preg_match('#^(\w+/){0,2}\w+\.\w+$#', $string) But it must be before the . within string. I've tried just about everything I know here. I know that the - needs to be escaped. So I tried to escape it in various places, but it's not working :( Thanks :)

  • Backslashes in gsub (escaping and backreferencing)

    - by polygenelubricants
Consider the following snippet: puts 'hello'.gsub(/.+/, '\0 \\0 \\\0 \\\\0') This prints (as seen on ideone.com): hello hello \0 \0 This was very surprising, because I'd expect to see something like this instead: hello \0 \hello \\0 My argument is that \ is an escape character, so you write \\ to get a literal backslash, thus \\0 is a literal backslash \ followed by 0, etc. Obviously this is not how gsub is interpreting it, so can someone explain what's going on? And what do I have to do to get the replacement I want above?

  • Ctrl-Backspace Visual Studio 2010

    - by Chris Watts
I recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 and found out that when i press Ctrl-Backspace on a empty line it will delete the line, which is what it did in 2008, but then it will also delete the last character on the line above. I have tried to see if there is any settings anywhere but i cant seem to find any. Does anyone know if you can change this or did they make it default in 2010 Im using C#, if that makes a difference.

  • Check for a string format...

    - by ThePower
I need an simple way to check whether a string that is sent to my function is of the form: (x + n)(x + m) //the +'s can be minus' //n and m represent a double //x represents the char 'x' Is there a simple string format that I can use to check that this is the form. As opposed to checking each character singularly. The whitespace will be removed to save any confusion. Regards Lloyd

  • Python, Unicode, and the Windows console

    - by James Sulak
When I try to print a Unicode string in a windows console, I get a "UnicodeEncodeError: 'charmap' codec can't encode character ...." error. I assume this is because the Windows console does not accept Unicode-only characters. What's the best way around this? Is there any way I can make Python automatically print a "?" instead of failing in this situation? Edit: I'm using Python 2.5.

  • Web-serving a file : Firefox truncates name

    - by interstar
I'm serving a file from Lighttpd whose name contains space-characters. I'm using mimetype "application/octet-stream" When I download this in Chrome, it works perfectly. But when I download in Firefox, the filename is truncated at the first space. Is this to do with the mimetype? With some other lightty config? Or maybe something to do with the kind of space-character I'm using?

But if I do: SELECT Name from People It says: ERROR: column People.Name does not exist SQL state: 42703 Character: 8 But the name column shows up during select *. I've tried: SELECT People.Name from People as well, with the same result. Am I missing something? It should be pretty easy to do this in any other database.

  • Why doesn't ifstream read to the end?

    - by user146780
I'm making a notepad-like program. To get the text from a file I read each character into the buffer by doing while (!file.EOF()) { mystr += file.get(); } however if I load in an exe it stops after MZ but Notepad reads the whole exe. I set my ifstream to binary mode but still no luck. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
