    I'm looking to add circle-polygon collisions to my Separating Axis Theorem collision detection. The metanet software tutorial (http://www.metanetsoftware.com/technique/tutorialA.html#section3) on SAT, which I discovered in the answer to a question I found when searching, talks about voronoi regions. I'm having trouble finding material on how I would calculate these regions for an arbitrary convex polygon and aleo how I would determine if a point is in one + which. The tutorial does contain source code but it's a .fla and I don't have Flash unfortunately.

  • How to enable user sharing per instructions in .xsession-errors log

    I have this entry in .xsession-errors log "Nautilus-Share-Message: Called "net usershare info" but it failed: 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare: cannot open usershare directory /var/lib/samba/usershares. Error No such file or directory Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing." This is in relation to my applets having to be reloaded after every boot. Just wondering how I would enable user sharing, and how it affects my applets ??

  • How can I schedule a nightly reboot?

    I'm having some periodic issues running a particular application, XBMC. If I use XBMC regularly I don't seem to have any issues but if I leave it unattended for more than about 12 hours I need to reboot to get it working again. I know a scheduled reboot is NOT the answer but until I can figure out the problem I need to schedule a reboot each morning so my wife can use it if I'm away and it doesn't get thrown out the window :) Any takers?

  • Is there a tool for detecting sites using the same template?

    I often buy webtemplates online, and when I do so I often look at the demos to get some inspiration on how to use the components. But I would love to look at other sites which have already implemented a full website using this template. So I am looking for a tool which searches sites having a similar HTML as the demos (and therefore are probably implementing the template). I am referring to templates which do not have a static text like "Created with Template FooBar by BarFoo" in the footer.

    At Pass Summit 2011 a new project was announced. It’s a Microsoft SQL Azure Lab and its codename is Microsoft “Data Explorer”. According to the official blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dataexplorer/), this new tool provides an innovative way to acquire new knowledge from the data that interest you. In a nutshell, Data Explorer allows you to combine data from multiple sources, to publish and share the result. In addition, you can generate data streams in the RESTful open format (Open Data Protocol), and they can then be used by other applications. Nonetheless we can still use Excel or PowerPivot to analyze the results. Sources can be varied: Excel spreadsheets, text files, databases, Windows Azure Marketplace, etc.. For those who are not familiar with this resource, I strongly suggest you to keep an eye on the data services available to the Marketplace: https://datamarket.azure.com/browse/Data To tell the truth, as I read the above blog post, I was tempted to think of the Data Explorer as a "SSIS on Azure" addressed to the Power User. In fact, reading the response from Tim Mallalieu (Group Program Manager of Data Explorer) to the comment made to his post, I had a positive response to my first impression: “…we originally thinking of ourselves as Self-Service ETL. As we talked to more folks and started partnering with other teams we realized that would be an area that we can add value but that there were more opportunities emerging.” The typical operations of the ETL phase ( processing and organization of data in different formats) can be obtained thanks to Data Explorer Mashup. This is an image of the tool: The flexibility in the manipulation of information is given by Data Explorer Formula Language.   • Window's Files not appearing in Ubuntu.

    I'm trying to delete old system files in Windows 7, I switched into Ubuntu to delete the files there but now I can't see the files. They are on my D: drive and I can see all of the files on my C: drive, but not the D. I know that ubuntu doesn't enumerate the drives but I have located the drives in Ubuntu and am still having trouble accessing the files. I have tried using ctrl + H but the files still do not show up.

  • How do I keep user input and rendering independent of the implementation environment?

    I'm writing a Tetris clone in JavaScript. I have a fair amount of experience in programming in general, but am rather new to game development. I want to separate the core game code from the code that would tie it to one environment, such as the browser. My quick thoughts led me to having the rendering and input functions external to my main game object. I could pass the current game state to the rendering method, which could render using canvas, elements, text, etc. I could also map input to certain game input events, such as move piece left, rotate piece clockwise, etc. I am having trouble designing how this should be implemented in my object. Should I pass references to functions that the main object will use to render and process user input?
