  • Which datagrid to use for ASP.NET MVC2 project?

    Hi, I am developing a commercial MVC2 app that requires a grid that has callback update in some form to support 10,000+ rows. It should also support relatively rich content (icons, multiline descriptions etc). Although it requires the usual paging/scrolling/sorting features it does not need support for grouping. So nothing that special. The commercial grids I looked at were Component Art (http://www.componentart.com/products/aspnetmvc/datagrid/) and Telerik (http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-mvc/grid.aspx) which both look pretty good but may be a little OTT for what I need. They are also $800 and $999 respectively (1 developer). I've also looked at jqGrid (http://www.trirand.net/download.aspx) and the grid from MvcContrib. These appear ok but for a commercial app I am concerned that these may be risky options - though could be wrong there. I'd really appreciate any views/exprience on either the above grids or perhaps you can suggest a better option/approach. FYI I am using EF4 and C#. Cheers

    I am using NHibernate with NHibernate.Linq, and have a bunch of dynamically loading modules each with their own POCO's and Mappings (ClassMap<POCO). I have created OData services before, but normally with a datacontext and IQueryable as Properties/Getters. What I want is to create the service by passing in IEnumerable, into the constructor IEnumerable<IQueryable>> queryableObjects; var dataService = new DataService(queryableObjects); Is this at all possible?

    I have an asp.net website that will generate some excel files with 7-8 sheets of data. The best solution so far seems to be NPOI, this can create excel files without installing excel on the server, and has a nice API simillar to the excel interop. However i can't find a way to dump an entire datatable in excel similar to CopyFromRecordset Any tips on how to do that , or a better solution than NPOI ?

  • Calling C# object method from IronPython

    I'm trying to embed a scripting engine in my game. Since I'm writing it in C#, I figured IronPython would be a great fit, but the examples I've been able to find all focus on calling IronPython methods in C# instead of C# methods in IronPython scripts. To complicate things, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 RC1 on Windows 7 64 bit. IronRuby works like I expect it would, but I'm not very familiar with Ruby or Python syntax. What I'm doing: ScriptEngine engine = Python.CreateEngine(); ScriptScope scope = engine.CreateScope(); //Test class with a method that prints to the screen. scope.SetVariable("test", this); ScriptSource source = engine.CreateScriptSourceFromString("test.SayHello()", Microsoft.Scripting.SourceCodeKind.Statements); source.Execute(scope); This generates an error, "'TestClass' object has no attribute 'SayHello'" This exact set up works fine with IronRuby though using "self.test.SayHello()" I'm wary using IronRuby though because it doesn't appear as mature as IronPython. If it's close enough, I might go with that though. Any ideas? I know this has to be something simple.

  • Show PDF in iPad using CGPDF APIs

    I have learned Apple has release CGPDF APIs in SDK 3.2 for drawing PDF context. What I understand from these APIs is that you can draw a PDF to a data object or a PDF file. You can then export it, may be, to your sandbox's directory OR add as an attachment in the mail. But I am not sure if we can use these APIs to read a PDF from application bundle and show it to the user page-by-page on the screen. What I want to do is open a PDF of a magazine in a magazine reader app. I was also wondering if we can identify the links in a PDF file and open them in the app. Let me know if have done OR doing anything like this.     I have created Passbooks and they are loaded onto my customer's iOS devices. I need to update these Passbooks. According to the Passbook docs you need to use the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) to trigger a pull from the iOS device in order to update the Passbook. This APNS push consists of a "push token" and a "pass type id." However, the APNS body is to be left empty. The APNS docs talk about a "device token" needed to send a push notification but make no mention of a "push token." Is an APNS "device token" the same as a Passbook "push token"? How do I send the Passbook "pass type id" in my APNS push?

  • WinForms Web Browser control forcing refocus?

    I'm trying to automate a web process where I need to click a button repeatedly. When my code "clicks" that button (an HtmlElement obtained from the WebBrowser control I have on my form) then it brings focus back to my application, more specifically the WebBrowser control. I wish to better automate this process so that the user can do other things while the process is going on, but that can't happen if the window is unminimizing itself because it's attaining focus. The code associated with the clicking is: HtmlElement button = Recruiter.Document.GetElementById("recruit_link"); button.InvokeMember("click"); I've also tried button.RaiseEvent("onclick") and am getting the exact same results, with focus problems and all. I've also tried hiding the form, but when the InvokeMember/RaiseEvent method is called, whatever I was working on loses focus but since the form is not visible then the focus seems to go nowhere. The only non-default thing about the webbrowser is it's URI being set to my page and ScriptErrorsSuppressed being set to True.

  • In an iPad SplitView, how do I add a Date Picker control to the Root View?

    I'm diving into iPhone OS development on the iPad and one of the things I'm playing with is the SplitView template. The template provides a window with a UISplitView view, containing the Root View (on the left of the window) and the Detail View (on the right of the window). The Root View is a subclass of a TableView. Rather than having the entire Root View consist of a TableView, I'd like it to contain a DatePicker view along with the TableView under it. When I go into IB and try and drop a DatePicker into the Root View, it won't let me. It will only let me add a DatePicker view to the Detail View. Why wont IB let me drop a DatePicker view into the Root View? How can I add a DatePicker to the RootView in addition to the TableView? I'm still learning this new platform, so I apologize if these questions are absurd in any way. Thanks so much in advance for your help, I'm going to continue researching these questions right now.

    Is there any way to Linkify a specific TextView that is contained within a ListView? I tried using android:autoLink="all" but that didn't work. I was getting an out of context error. Important also to note: the ListView is my second view in the ViewFlipper. I have also tried: TextView infoText = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.rowText2); Linkify.addLinks(infoText, Linkify.ALL); Right after the adapter was bound to the ListView and the View was switched.     We have created an ASP.NET web app that upload files to WSS Doc Libary. The files get added under 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT' in the library. The FullTextSqlQuery class is used to search the document libary items. But it only searches files that has been uploaded by a windows user account like 'Administrator' and ignores the ones uploaded by 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT'. As a result the search results are empty even though we have the necessary data in the document library. What could be the reason for this?   • How to read from path in wpf comboboxitem and write into path of binding

    Hi, I tried to make up an example to show my problem. My combobox has a list of objects as itemssource. In my example it's a list of Persons. In the combobox i want to show the first name and the last name of the person. But i want to save the last name of the person in the "owner" property of the house-object. My guess was that i bind the SelectedValue to my property and the SelectedValuePath to the name of the property in the comboboxitem. I already googled and tried a view other versions but nothing worked. If i use SelectedItem instead of SelectedValue with the same binding at least the value of the "tostring" function get's written in the property. Sadly that solution doesn't fit in the Rest of my Program because i don't want to override "ToString".   • How to access the FirstData web service integration WSDL file?

    FirstData has horrendous customer support, but I have to integrate with their Global Gateway web service for a project I'm working on. I'm simply trying to run the Axis2 wsdl2java tool according to the instructions in their manual. This basically consists of adding the keyStore and keyStorePassword JVM parameter. I've done both, but I continue to get Connection reset errors when trying to run: wsdl2java.bat -uri https://www.staging.linkpointcentral.com/fdggwsapi/order.wsdl -S C:\ When I try to access the URL with my browser, I get Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error. I assume there are developers out there who have completed a FirstData web service integration. What am I doing wrong?   • JQgrid - Get Row Number instead of ID

    Hello, all, I am creating a JQGrid from a database table that does not contain a single field primary key. Therefore, the field i am supplying as id is not unique and the same one exists in several rows. Because of this, when passing a reference to the data with ondblClickRow to a function external to the grid i need to use the rownumber and not the id. To test, I'm using ondblClickRow: function(id){alert($("#grid1").getInd('rowid'));}, , and i should be getting and alert with the row number, except that it isn't working. I've been over the documentation and can't understand what i am doing wrong... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Mario.   • Can't get msbuild.exe path correct with Hudson's MSBuild plugin

    I have the msbuild plugin installed on my Hudson server, and it's attempting to execute the command, but for some reason the path I'm setting in my configuration is not being used when the msbuild task gets fired. I have the following set in the configuration of hudson's msbuild plugin: Path To msbuild.exe C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\msbuild.exe I left the name property blank. When I do a build it outputs this: Executing command: cmd.exe /C msbuild.exe /p:Configuration=Release ... Which I know is wrong because all the other examples show the [msbuild.exe] part fully qualified. I've been searching everywhere trying to figure out why this isn't getting set properly and I've hit a brick wall. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi all, I am in need of some help with an error message I get with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I would like to create a gallery for my site so I downloaded the NotesForGallery from codeplex. I have added the reference into the project like it told me to in the installation instructions. The instructions then say Register the ThumbnailHandler in the Web.Config file (httpHandlers section): <httpHandlers> … <add verb="*" path="ThumbnailHandler.ashx" type="NotesFor.ThumbnailHandler, NotesForGallery"/> … </httpHandlers> So I open the web.config file in my solution and I add it in. When I try and start the website (clicking the play button in Web Developer) I get the error message: Unrecognized configuration section httpHandlers. The complete list of errors I get are: Message 1 Could not find schema information for the element 'httpHandlers'.
