  • Kill named running screen with -X only works after reattached

    Hello I am using ubuntu 8.04.4 and would like to start daemons like this: screen -dmS SESSIONNAME script.sh Then i want to kill these screens with -X like so screen -S SESSIONAME -X kill But, this does not work. Only if i attach and detach that session it gets kill'ed with above command. What am i doing wrong? I would like to not have to attach/deattach the session to kill it since i want to use fabric scripts that start/stop daemons remotly. - Thank you

But since we got a new system administrator who installed some policy to terminate disconnected sessions after some hours, I never again could reconnect to to an unexpectedly terminated session (usually VPN problem) I found the following link which shows a similat scenario.

  • Automatically log off idle Windows 7 console sessions

    We have a number of shared computers that users never seem to log out of. Am I correct that there is no built in functionality to automatically log off console sessions after an idle timeout? I've seen two suggestions: a logoff screensaver, and a scheduled task with an idle trigger. Will the idle trigger work if only the session is idle, but the computer is in use with a different session? Is there a better way to go about this? Thanks,

    I have Windows Server 2008 r2 with static ip address on WAN interface. I connecting to the server from home from my laptop. Laptop at home is behind nat box. When i connecting to the server from home in Remote Desktop Session Manager i see in client status dialog a local ip address of client behind the nat box not WAN ip address of nat box. I suppose i must see the WAN ip address of the nat box in Remote Desktop Session Manager, isnt it?

For Example: PassengerMaxPoolSize is configured to 40 based off our system specs What happens if all 40 sessions are active (processing a request) and our load balancer passes another session to this particular web server? This would send a 41st session to be processed without an available Passenger process.

During this phase, the expression merely accesses the value of name from the customer bean, as is done in immediate evaluation. For a postback request, the JavaServer Faces implementation evaluates the expression at different phases of the lifecycle, during which the value is retrieved from the request, validated, and propagated to the customer bean. I am not sure I understand initial request vs postback request. Does the client browser make two different request to the webserver?

    I would like to do something like that: An object ReportingFile that can be a LogRequest or a LogReport file. ( both got the same structure) An object Reporting containing for one logRequest, a list of logReport with a date. I tryed to set an EmbededId, that would be an attribute of the logRequest. And that's the problem i got. I don't arrive to mannage embedded id.     Hi there! I have to execute long running threads in a WebLogic Bea 10.0 M1 server environment. I tried to use WorkManagers for this. Using an own WorkManager allows me to specify my own thread timeout (MaxThreadStuckTime) instead of adjusting the timeout for the whole business application. By some logic upon this action the bean also updates its category field. This change should be reflected in the form. Questions: What scope shall I use for EntryRecorder? Request may not be satisfactory for multiple AJAX requests, while session will not work with multiple browser windows per one session. How can I register my updateCategory() action in EntryRecorder so that it is triggered when the bean is updated?

    Hi, complete and utter newbie on spring webflow (and indeed, spring mvc). 30 minutes in... got the first page of my flow appearing, which happens to be a captcha, an input field and a submit button. The actual captcha value is stored in session and i need to validate that the input field values matches the value in session. In order to do validation, my model is passed a 'ValidationContext'. Question: i can't seem to access session data from the ValidationContext. How do i do this? Thanks!

    Hi, I have a form with 3 fields (simplyfied example). The first one is a checkbox. <ice:selectBooleanCheckBox value=#{backingBean.bean.visible} ID=checkbox1 partialSubmit=true> The second one is a <ice:inputText ID=text1> The third one is also a <ice:inputText ID=text2> text1 should only be visible when checkbox1 is checked. text2 is a required field. So my first approach with just using #{backingBean.bean.visible} failed because text2 has is required and a validation message appeared (after the checkbox was clicked) when the text2 field is empty. Because of ths valdation error the form was never completely submitted such that the visible property is set (update model phase was never reached). So my question: how can I make sure text1 is only visible when checkbox1 is clicked? Thanks.

  • Problem with Richfaces running with NGinx proxy

    Hi, I got a problem with my Richfaces application. I am using it with JSF and GlassFish v.2 on my localhost and combination od dataTable and dataScroller works fine. While moving the app to the VPS running Tomcat but proxied by Nginx server, everything crashes. Exactly the scroller is working, but the dataTable view is not refreshed! I looked at responses with Firebug and figured out, that even on VPS the response contains 2nd page of the dataTable, but it is not shown on the screen. I tried everything - changing page attribute of dataScroller (it was taken from session bean, I changed that to request bean). I also removed page attribute from dataScroller - did not help either. Finally I added my table to reRender attribute of dataScroller - still whichever page I choose I am seeing only the first one. Does anyone even heard about such problem? I am going crazy with this.     I am calling a REST service that requires basic auth and I respond to the didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge delegate OK NSURLCredential *credential = [[NSURLCredential alloc] initWithUser:self.user password:self.password persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]; [[challenge sender] useCredential:credential forAuthenticationChallenge:challenge]; [credential release]; The Credentials are valid for the Session but I would like for my App to be able to switch between servers and therefore need to "reset" the Session so it asks again for a challenge. I can of course try the option of not storing the credentials for the Session and supply them for each call but this does not seem like a good idea. Any ideas would be appreciated!

    I am considering using Windows Server Appfabric for it caching functionality. I have an existing classic ASP application that I want to rewrite in ASP.NET MVC. However, I want to be able to do this "piecemeal" i.e. a few pages at a time. The problem is session state between the ASP and ASP.Net MVC application. I could use a database but I would like to use Appfabric since it has good scalabilty, admin, etc. My question is: does the Appfabric caching service/functionality have an API that I could wrap in .Net and expose to my classic ASP application as a com object? I could then change all the Session and Application caching in the classic application to use the com object i.e. Appfabric. In this way I can share session state between ASP.Net MVC and classic ASP. I will have to test the performance penalty associated with interop as well.

    I want to use @PreAuthorize annotation on service methods with Spring Security. One of requirements is to use role-hierarchy. But by default it is not enabled. I found that in SecurityExpressionRoot class ("the base class for expression root objects") there is a property roleHierarchy. The class actually does use this property for methods like hasRole() and hasAnyRole(). I suppose that if I supply it with my own RoleHierarchy bean I will be able to use @PreAuthorize annotations with hierarchical roles. How can I inject my hierarchy bean into SecurityExpressionRoot?

    Hi, I have a problem with parameters replacing by Spring JdbcTemplate. I have this query : <bean id="fixQuery" class="java.lang.String"> <constructor-arg type="java.lang.String" value="select fa.id, fi.? from fix_ambulation fa left join fix_i18n fi on fa.translation_id = fi.id order by name" /> And this method : public List<FixAmbulation> readFixAmbulation(String locale) throws Exception { List<FixAmbulation> ambulations = this.getJdbcTemplate().query( fixQuery, new Object[] {locale.toLowerCase()}, ParameterizedBeanPropertyRowMapper .newInstance(FixAmbulation.class)); return ambulations; } And I'd like to have the ? filled with the string representing the locale the user is using. So if the user is brasilian I'd send him the column pt_br from the table fix_i18n, otherwise if he's american I'd send him the column en_us. What I get from this method is a PostgreSQL exception org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: syntax error at or near "$1" If I replace fi.? with just ? (the column name of the locale is unique, so if I run this query in the database it works just fine) what I get is that every object returned from method has the string locale into the field name. I.e. in name field I have "en_us". The only way to have it working I found was to change the method into : public List<FixAmbulation> readFixAmbulation(String locale) throws Exception { String query = "select fa.id, fi." + locale.toLowerCase() + " as name " + fixQuery; this.log.info("QUERY : " + query); List<FixAmbulation> ambulations = this.getJdbcTemplate().query( query, ParameterizedBeanPropertyRowMapper .newInstance(FixAmbulation.class)); return ambulations; } and setting fixQuery to : <bean id="fixQuery" class="java.lang.String"> <constructor-arg type="java.lang.String" value=" from telemedicina.fix_ambulation fa left join telemedicina.fix_i18n fi on fa.translation_id = fi.id order by name" /> </bean> My DAO extends Spring JdbcDaoSupport and works just fine for all other queries. What am I doing wrong?
