    I'm trying to add a context (right click) menu to a Qt QListView. I see in Qt 3.3 there is "contextMenuRequested" (which I could use) - http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/qlistview.html#contextMenuRequested. However, I can't see such a method in Qt4. Does anyone know how to add a context menu to a QListView?

  • LDAP c++ API choice

    I would like to write my own LDAP client under Linux, specific to our local environment. Most probably I will use QT4 to provide a shiny frontend without much hassle. I found that there seems to be no standard C++ library for this. OpenLDAP provides a C API and there should also be a C++ API (experimental?) somewhere.. Do I need to use the C stuff or is there a C++ API out there worth of recommendation?

  • How to remove package from apt-get autoremove "queue"

    I just installed Calibre for ebook management via apt-get on Ubuntu 10.04, however I found out that it's one major version behind the current release, so I decided to reinstall it directly from sources. When I uninstalled the packaged version, apt added bunch of dependencies to the autoremove queue, and as I installed newer version of Calibre from sources, it has no knowledge of it being dependent on those packages. Now I basically have all libraries that I want, but they are still in the autoremove queue. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: libqt4-script libqt4-designer libqt4-dbus python-lxml python-cherrypy3 python-encutils libqt4-xmlpatterns libqt4-help python-qt4 python-clientform python-sip python-django python-mechanize libqt4-svg python-django-tagging libphonon4 libqt4-xml libqt4-assistant libqt4-webkit libqt4-scripttools python-beautifulsoup python-pypdf python-dateutil python-cssutils Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. How do I tell apt that I want to keep these packages installed, without reinstalling them manually?

  • Windows 7 just corrupted Microsoft F# and now won't fix itself.

    I lost half a year's worth of custom CGAL/GMP/LEDA/Qt3/Qt4/MPFR/MPFI/Visual Studio/Boost/blahblahblah open source nonsense with DLLs that are scattered in various parts of the OS that I had gotten to finally work. All because F#, which came with .NET 4 and which I never, ever used, is now "corrupted" one day for reasons only Windows 7 knows, and now Windows 7 won't even boot. Of course none--none--of the above setup works as accessed from the USB port. How do I remove a corrupted file that prevents a Windows 7 from booting, or even being fixed by an external CD mount of the Windows 7? Thanks for any help.

  • Error installing avogadro with CMake 'lconvert: could not exec No such file or directory'

    I'm brand new in ubuntu. I'm trying to install Avogadro. The program need the following packages, which I could install: CMake - OpenBabel 2.3.2 - Qt4 - Git - Eigen2. Here it is the recepy to install the : cd $HOME/src git clone git://github.com/cryos/avogadro.git mkdir -p $HOME/build/avogadro cd $HOME/build/avogadro cmake $HOME/src/avogadro make -j2 sudo make install It was unable to compile, but when I skipped the 'git clone' step it seemed to work just fine. After several stops during the CMake compiling process (software actualizations, get Doxygen, get flex, get bison) I was able to compile.   • How to recover broken dpkg after lucid-bleed ppa-purge?

    Did a ppa-purge of lucid-bleed and dpkg didn't downgrade properly and now it is broken. dpkg: PreDepends: tar (>= 1.23) but 1.22-2ubuntu1 is to be installed What scares me is when simulating the removal of dpkg I get: Removing this package may render the system unusable. Are you sure you want to do that? and then the list of packages which depend on it, which will also be removed, is obviously very long. Is it safe for me to remove dpkg just to reinstall it? How would I ensure the list of packages which were also removed are then reinstalled? Will forcing the version of dpkg help? (FYI: simulating a forced version brings up a much smaller list of applications which will also be removed). Any other suggestions?   • How do I install Kodos in 12.10?

    In previous Ubuntu version I used Kodos extensively. But the package has been dropped in 12.10. It's a neat regular expression testing tool. It's hard to find an alternative that is not Windows only (or Air, or uses action script which bails on more complicated RegEx, or works in Wine - well kinda, but not really..., etc.). So I tried to install Kodos from source, which seems to work (download sourceball and setup.py) but it won't run because of missing PyQT dependencies (that I can't manage to fulfill with anything install-able trough standard packages). I then tried to install PyQT manually (which seems to require manual install of SIP and QT too) and instead of pip I have to use configure.py and qmake. It throws error after error at me. I tried to overcome one after another for over an hour but no luck. It even managed to break Calibre and Music Brains Picard. So I purged all the stuff, reinstalled python-sipand python-qt4 from the standard packages and gave up. Has anyone managed to get Kodos running on 12.10? Or any hints on how to do it?

I'm on fedora11, with the following packages installed: QtRuby-4.4.0-1.fc11.i586 ruby-1.8.6.369-1.fc11.i586 These crashes also happen when running the script on Windows.

    I am debugging certain application written with C++/Qt4. On Linux it has problems that with certain window managers (gnome-wm/metacity), the main window (based on QDialog) is created in the background (it's not raised). I managed to re-create the scenario using PyQt4 and following code: from PyQt4.QtCore import * from PyQt4.QtGui import * import sys class PinDialog(QDialog): def showEvent(self, event): QDialog.showEvent(self, event) self.raise_() self.activateWindow() if __name__ == "__main__": app = QApplication(sys.argv) widget = PinDialog() app.setActiveWindow(widget) widget.exec_() sys.exit(0) If I remove self.activateWindow() the application works as expected. This seems wrong, since documentation for activateWindow does not specify any conditions under which something like this could happen. My question is: Is there any reason to have activateWindow in showEvent in the first place? If there is some reason, what would be good workaround for focusing issues?

    I have two Qt4 Gui Application projects and one shared library project, all referenced under a .pro file with the "subdirs" template. So, it's like: exampleapp.pro app1.pro app2.pro sharedlib.pro Now, what I want to do is reference sharedlib from app1 and app2 so that every time I run app1.exe, I don't have to manually copy sharedlib.dll from its own folder to app1.exe's folder. I could set PATH environment variable in the projects window, but this isn't very portable. I've looked at putting the LIBS variable in the app1.pro file, but I'm not sure if that refers to statically linked libraries only - I've tried it with various syntaxes and it doesn't seem to work with shared libs.

  • C++ library for Coordinate Transformation Matrices (CTM)?

    I'm looking for a C++ library which allows for easy integration of Coordinate Transformation Matrices (CTM) in my application. You might know CTMs from PDF or PostScript. For one project we are using C++/Qt4 as a framework, which offers a QTransform class, which provides methods like .translate(double x, double y) or .rotate(double degrees). After doing some transformations, it would allow me to get all 6 CTM values, which I could feed into a PDF library or use a transformation matrix in export files. Qt's API also allows for arbitrary mapping of polygons (QPolygon), rectangles (QRect) and other primitive data structures into transformed coordinate systems. So basically I'm looking for something similar to what Qt provides, but without the need of using Qt. I know I could do the matrix multiplications myself, but I'm not really interested in doing so, as I'm very sure that someone already solved this problem, so please no links to books or other guides on how to multiply matrices.     hi, I am very new to Mac. I downloaded QT SDK Mac Open source (http://get.qt.nokia.com/qtsdk/qt-sdk-mac-opensource-2010.02.dmg) and installed the Package. I can run qmake, build samples and run demos, but I cannot run configure (in order to build the Qt libraries statically). It says: -bash: No such file or directory. Documentation says I should run this in the "Qt root folder", but what is this folder in Mac? I looked for it in /usr/bin, /usr/local/Qt4.6, /Developer/Tools/Qt. Anyway, what is "configure" on Mac. is it an executable or a script? Thanks a lot

    I have a Qt app with a Czech translation. I can get my translation compiled and installed fine with the following code. But when I run the app, translation doesn't work. What am I missing? I even tried to chmod 644 to change the permissions of the translation file, but it didn't work either. Thanks in advance.     I am working on my first Python app using PythonXY (2.6 and Qt4). I have a window with some buttons and a QtabWidget. When I press a button I want to plot a 3D image on a specific tab. I managed to get a 2D plot but I can't get the axes to 3D. Via Qt desiger I use the mplwidget. In many examples I see the use of figure(), but I can't get that to work with the mplwidget. (I am not sure if that is even possible) Can you please show me an example of code defining the 3D axes (in a QtabWidget) with a simple plot ? Thanks very much

    Ive seen Qt GUI syntax like the following all over the place: myDialog::myDialog(QWidget *parent, Qt::WFlags flags):QDialog(parent, flags) { QPushButton *button = new QPushButton("&Download", this); QVBoxLayout *layout = new QVBoxLayout(this); //something that can throw here layout ->addWidget(button ); setLayout(layout); } I've always wondered if this can leak in the event of an exception because the "this" I'm giving as a parent to button and layout is not fully constructed so it might not destroy its children. I tried it out in MSVC2010 Qt4.8.3 and it looks like as soon as the base QObject class is fully created (which is done first of course) it is ok to pass "this" to other objects in the constructor, they will destroyed correctly. I haven't found the spot in the Qt docs guaranteeing this though, can someone point me to it so I have assurance that this will not change in the future?

  • Best way to remote restart Ubuntu from Windows machine

    Background: I'm looking to put a series of Ubuntu machines into retail locations, they're being used as dumb kiosks to show a series of slides onto large LCD panel TV screens. Once installed, they won't have a keyboard or mouse connected but will have a fixed IP on the local network. Everything is configured to auto-start, no automatic updates, no power saving etc - I think we're pretty-much good to go apart from one thing. I need the retail staff to be able to restart the boxes if a problem arises. We have VNC running (now that we've turned off desktop enhancements!) so that we can remotely get into the machines if we need to, but that's not something we would allow the retail staff to do. The machines are going to be physically 'out of the way' (probably in the ceiling space) so the power button is not easily accessible!. I'd like to have some means of allowing the retail staff to restart the Ubuntu machine, from the desktop of one of their Windows terminals. I don't really want to give them some kind of raw terminal access (the command line will frighten them!) and I don't want them to use VNC (as stated above). Ideally there would be an icon on the Windows desktop, they double-click it, reply to a simple 'are you sure?' prompt, and then the Ubuntu box is told to restart. The Windows side of that won't be a problem, we can write something using Delphi, Python & Qt4, whatever - it's the Ubuntu side of it I'm stuck with. Out of sight/view, could I have a Windows program open a terminal across the network and tell Ubuntu to restart? Is this what SSH could be used for (I have never set that kind of thing up). The Windows programming side isn't really an issue, it's just that I'm a total Ubuntu noob and don't know where to start from the platform point of view. The other thing we considered is also having the machine automatically restart itself at a set time each day (obviously out of store hours!). To me, that seems a bit unnecessary (though forcing a restart once a week/month might be worthwhile). Any thoughts or suggestions? Being able to restart the box on demand across the network is my prime requirement.
