• Get dialog input field IDs in CKEditor

  Each input field in the CKEditor dialogs are renamed with a unique number, but the number changes depending on what options are visible. I need to reference 'txtUrl' which has an id something like #35_textInput. So far I have discovered that something like this should work: alert(CKEDITOR.instances.myElement.document.$.body.getId('txtUrl')); But it doesn't. Please help.

• Web browser being selective about the sites that it will visit.

  I've been trying to help my father-in-law with this problem but haven't been able to get anywhere. Since the weekend the web browsers on his computer (Chrome and Internet Explorer on Windows XP) will only let him get to certain sites - for example, he is able to conduct his online banking but he cannot visit www.bbc.co.uk, www.amazon.co.uk or www.ancestry.com. There is another computer in the house that goes via the same router and this can connect to both, which suggests it is his machine. I tried running a tracert to www.bbc.co.uk and managed to get through, but the web browser hangs with a message that it is waiting for a response. I tried using the WinSockFix tool in case it was anything to do with a recent registry change but that didn't work either. He can't think of anything that he recently did on his machine to cause the problem. Can anyone help?

However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me what could cause the issue, please? • How to set up Windows server 2008 to receive email?

  First off apologies, I'm from a medical background not a networking one, but I've got roped into setting up a windows 2008 server. So far web server running, fixed IP address assigned (within a large private network of the National Health Service in the UK if that makes any difference) and the network team have assigned a DNS entry for me which works, so the server can be addressed as nww.myserver.nhs.uk I've only got ports open on the router for 80 and 443 (http and https) at the moment, so presume I need a different port to enable email services. My need is to be able to accept an email to the domain name like [email protected].uk in order to pick up a confirmation mail from an SSL issuer (Comodo) I guess to confirm that I control the domain. After that I don't actually need mail services on the server. I see lots of stuff about setting up SMTP services but thought that was about mail out and re-routing, but how do you get the server to "listen" for mail to the domain (assuming I open port xyz or whatever it is) ?

• Nginx redirect one path to another

  I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find a solution that works. A website has switched CMS services, but has the same domain, how do I set up an nginx rewrite for a single page? E.g. Old Page http://sitedomain.co.uk/content/unique-page-name New page http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name Please note, I don't want everything within the content page to be redirected, but literally just the url mentioned above. I have about 9 redirects to set up, non of which fit in a pattern. Thanks! Edit: I found this solution, which seems to be working, except for the fact that it redirects without a slash: if ( $request_filename ~ content/unique-page-name/ ) { rewrite ^ http://sitedomain.co.uk/new-name/unique-page-name/? permanent; } But this redirects to: http://sitedomain.co.uknew-name/unique-page-name/

  I have recently had to change a URL on a website (in PHP on Apache). The old URL is: http://content.mywebsite.org.uk/hidden/discounts/ When a user visits the above link. The new URL is: http://www.mywebsite.org.uk/charity_benefits.php I have tried variants of the following (and some others), but its just not working for me. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/hidden/discounts/$ [NC] RewriteRule ^/hidden/discounts/$ /charity_benefits.php [R=302,L,NC] I need the redirect to redirect to www mywebsite.org.uk. (Notice the www! Its important!). So basically, a simple redirect from the old page to the new page. (Which are on different subdomains (OLD: content., NEW: www.) which are hosted on the same server).

  I have setup a virtual host which specifies a default file to load when the URL is called. The problem I have is that I need that default DirectoryIndex file to appear in the URL. So when I go to: www.mysite.co.uk, I want www.mysite.co.uk/app.php to appear in the URL. How can I achieve this using my virtual host configuration within my apache.conf file? • Fully Qualified Domain name on Ubuntu Server

  I've setup a LAMP server on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) and have also installed Virtualmin. This is my first attempt at setting up a server of any sort. I set up one virtual host using Virtualmin and so far so good. Some odd things are happening though, such as when I type in my primary domain into a browser, I see the contents of the virtual server instead of what should be in the default directory. I'm going to use 123.345.789 and example.co.uk instead of my actual ip and domain name's if thats ok. I checked my hostname by using hostname -f and got production1 as my response The contents of my /etc/hosts file is (ip's and domain changed to something generic for this post): 127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain 123.456.789 production1.example.co.uk 123.456.789 production1 shouldn't my FQD be production1.example.co.uk? How can I go about changing this?, a simple step by step instruction would be great! thanks in advance.

• Android app hanging, sometimes until Force Close / Wait dialog appears

  I'm making an app that records uncompressed (wav format) audio. I'm using this class to actually record the audio. Currently, my application records fine (I can play the file), however when I click the button to stop the recording, the app hangs for 10 seconds or so, with no log output or any signs of life. Finally it comes round, dumps a load of errors into the log, updates the UI etc. I'm using AsyncTasks to try and avoid this kind of thing but it's not working. Users go to the page, the widget read the cookies variable to display contact info (locale2contact)and preselect the drop-down menu (function build_dropdown) If users select the drop down menu, the displya contact info change (function changeContactInfo), and then I need to rebuild the drop down menu with user previously selection (function build_dropdown2). I am looking for best practices for adding this functionality to RightNow widget. Thank you. I really do not like the way i am doing now. It works; but the code looks bad.

To be perfectly honest – I’m more interested in attending than presenting as the sessions and speaker line up look great. But in the middle of all that I will be doing the following (rather cheekily named) session: Looking at the Clouds through dirty Windows Many developers assume that the Microsoft Windows Azure Platform for Cloud Computing is only relevant if you develop solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET Framework. The reality is somewhat different. In the same way that developers can build great applications on Windows Server using a variety of programming languages, developers can do the same for Azure. Java, Tomcat, PHP, Ruby, Python, MySQL and more all work great on Azure. In this session we will take a lap around the services offered by the Azure PaaS and demonstrate just how easy it is to build and deploy applications built in .NET and other technologies. If you have detailed experience of any aspect of the Windows Azure Platform and can spare a few hours of time to turn that into a short article (400 to 800 words) then please get in touch. This is not a big commitment but my suspicion is the end result will make for a cracking good read. I was aware of BidNow but had not found the time to take a look at it nor seems it running before. Adrian convinced me it was worth some a further look. In brief I like it :-) It is more than Hello World, but still easy enough to follow. Bid Now is an online auction site designed to demonstrate how you can build highly scalable consumer applications using Windows Azure. It is built using Visual Studio 2008, Windows Azure and uses Windows Azure Storage. Auctions are processed using Windows Azure Queues and Worker Roles. Authentication is provided via Live Id. Bid Now works with the Express versions of Visual Studio and above. • Why is Rhythmbox becoming the default (again)?

  So, it seems with 12.04, they're switching back to Rhythmbox, after switching from Rhythmbox a year ago. I don't get why. They say that it's because of a blocking bug in GTK3# (if I understand that correctly), but that's just one bug, and in the same breath they say RB is not well maintained. It seems Ubuntu guys were dissatisfied with Banshee in some way, but apparently the Banshee guys were never notified of any problems. Also, it can't be to save disc space by dropping mono, because at the same day it was announced that the install disc will be enlarged by 50MB. Also, isn't it a bit shortsighted to push Banshee for default inclusion, and then drop it again a year later? How is that a sustainable use of dev resources, or consistent? Apparently there was quite some heavy effort by banshee devs - David Nielsen used the term "bending over backwards for Ubuntu" iirc. In summary: Can anyone shed more light on this? • Is there any site which tells or highlights by zone developer income source? I think i am getting less yearly [closed]

  http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/ Thats the only one good site i have found, but missing for Belgium and for other European countries. I was searching a site which can tell the income source details for European developer (specially for Belgium). But mostly not a single website exist who tells the true. My situation: As a programmer myself in one company i use all my knowledge, 20++ hours a day (office , home, office, home) because every-time its challenge/complex/stress/over-time feature-requests, at the end of the year in Europe i was getting in total not even the lowest amount shown here (UK pound vs Euro + high-tech most of the time they use + speed in development): http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/ In one company i have to use my best performance knowledge for whole year with: C, Java, PHP (Zend Framework, Cakephp), BASH, MySQL/DB2, Linux/Unix, Javascript, Dojo, JQuery, Css, Html, Xml. Company wants to pay lesser but always it has to be perfect and it has to be solid gold and diamond like quality. And the total amount in Europe is not sufficient for me if i compare with other countries and living cost in Europe including taxes. Is there any developers/community site where we can see by country, zone what is minimum to maximum income source getting offered to the developers? So that some developers who is in troubles, they can shout and speak up louder with those references?

• SEO + international sites? country.domain.com or domain.country?

  Hi folks, is it better to have seperate country specific domains (which costs more money) or subdomains which define the country, for better SEO? eg. stackoverflow.com stackoverflow.com.au stackoverflow.co.uk vs stackoverflow.com au.stackoverflow.com uk.stackoverflow.com Assumption: int the search engine web master tools, each subdomain are associated to a country. eg. au.stackoverflow.com is associated to the country Australia. cheers! Update I understand that both methods do work, especially when i utilize the assumption, listed above. The question is about: Which method is better? Is there such a small SEO difference between them? Is the first method way way way better than the second with getting better SEO results? Update #2 A number of folks have suggested that the following is a good/better approach: stackoverflow.com/ stackoverflow.com/au stackoverflow.com/uk By adding a country specific iso code to the end of the url/the first folder of the domain can be recognised as the country. But a number of SEO mates have suggested that this is a valuable waste of folder level space. Er.. how can i explain. Ok, it's been suggested by some SEO experts that if the number of levels or folders in the domain exceeds 5 then the page drops dramatically in importance. Basically, you don't want to make it deep. As such, adding the country as the first level can be considered a waste, especially when it can be handled by the domain OR subdomain - hence the question :) So, any more thoughts on this? (Maybe SO is the wrong place to ask this question?)
