  • Why is png file looks different in firefox?

    If you take screen shot this web page in different browser, you'd see that it displays slightly different in firefox. (7.01, ubuntu) At first I thought it was because of color profile, but even if I turned on color management in firefox, the problem is still there. Although it's not a very noticeable problem, I got a perfectionist boss who asked to make it look exactly the same in every browser. Does any one know what might have caused the problem? Thanks!

  • How to mkdir only if a dir does not already exist?

    I am writing a script to run under the korn shell on AIX. I'd like to use the mkdir command to create a directory. But the directory may already exist, in which case I don't want to do anything. So I want to either test to see that the directory doesn't exist, or suppress the "File exists" error that mkdir throws when it tries to create an existing directory. Any thoughts on how best to do this?

    The advantage of writing a Makefile is that "make" is generally assumed to be present on the various Unices (Linux and Mac primarily). Now I have the following Makefile: PYTHON := python all: e installdeps e: virtualenv --distribute --python=${PYTHON} e installdeps: e/bin/python setup.py develop clean: rm -rf e As you can see this Makefile uses simple targets and variable substitution. Can this be achieved on Windows? By that mean - without having to install external tools (like cygwin make); perhaps make.cmd? Typing "make installdeps" for instance, should work both on Unix and Windows.

    This code for parsing my xml and appending via jquery seems to work great in every browser but Chrome (Mac only, the windows version of chrome works fine) and explorer. I'm not aware of any glaring issues in the code so I thought some fresh eyes might help.     I have the following command that I run on cygwin: find /cygdrive/d/tmp/* -maxdepth 0 -mtime -150 -type d | xargs du --max-depth=0 > foldersizesreport.csv I intended to do the following with this command: for each folder under /d/tmp/ that was modified in last 150 days, check its total size including files within it and report it to file foldersizesreport.csv however that is now not good enough for me, as it turns out inside each /d/tmp/subfolder1/somefile.properties /d/tmp/subfolder2/somefile.properties /d/tmp/subfolder3/somefile.properties /d/tmp/subfolder4/somefile.properties so as you see inside each subfolderX there is a file named somefile.properties inside it there is a property SOMEPROPKEY=3808612800100 (among other properties) this is the time in millisecond, i need to change the command so that instead of -mtime -150 it will include in the whole calculation only subfolderX that has a file inside them somefile.properties where the SOMEPROPKEY=3808612800100 is the time in millisecond in future, if the value SOMEPROPKEY=23948948 is in past then dont at all include the folder in the foldersizesreport.csv because its not relevant to me. so the result report should be looking like: /d/tmp/,subfolder1,<itssizein KB> /d/tmp/,subfolder2,<itssizein KB> and if subfolder3 had a SOMEPROPKEY=34243234 (time in ms in past) then it would not be in that csv file. so basically I'm looking for: find /cygdrive/d/tmp/* -maxdepth 0 -mtime -150 -type d | <only subfolders that have in them property in file SOMEPROPKEY=28374874827 - time in ms in future and not in past | xargs du --max-depth=0 > foldersizesreport.csv

  • How to get number of rows deleted from mysql in shell script

    Hi all I can't work out how to get the mysql client to return the number of rows deleted to the shell when running a delete. Does anyone know what option will enable this? Or ways around it? Here's what i'm trying, but i get no output: #!/bin/bash deleted=`mysql mydb -e "delete from mytable where insertedtime < '2010-04-01 00:00:00'"|tail -n 1` I was expecting something like this as the output from mysql: deleted 999999 Which is why i have the tail -n 1 so i only pick up the count and not the column name. When running the command by hand (mysql mydb -e "delete from mytable where insertedtime < '2010-04-01 00:00:00'") there is no output. When running the command interactively when running the mysql client i ge the following: mysql>delete from mytable where insertedtime < '2010-04-01 00:00:00'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) I want to get the rows affected count into my shell variable. Any help would be most appreciated.

    I'd like to script p4 a little. Unfortunately, some of the filenames that we're tracking have "@" in the filename. The filenames are in the form [email protected]. If I try to do something like p4 sync a\@b.xml on a mac (or p4 sync [email protected] on windows) it gives the error: Invalid changelist/client/label/date '@b.xml' Is there another way to escape it that perforce will recognize?

    I have been porting oracle selects, and I have been running across a lot of queries like so: SELECT e.last_name, d.department_name FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id(+) = d.department_id; ...and: SELECT last_name, d.department_id FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id(+); Are there any guides/tutorials for converting all of the variants of the (+) syntax? What is that syntax even called (so I can scour google)? Even better.. Is there a tool/script that will do this conversion for me (Preferred Free)? An optimizer of some sort? I have around 500 of these queries to port.. When was this standard phased out? Any info is appreciated.

    I need to set a variable inside of a bash for loop, which for some reason, is not working for me.   • Div width: auto and IE

    I'm using the jQuery qTip to show individual users and their votes when an average rating is mousedover. qTip calls a PHP file which grabs all the users and votes for the item from the MySQL database and builds a 3 column table, which appears as the tooltip. In Firefox, the tooltip displays properly. In IE7 (haven't tested on IE8 yet), the tooltip is the proper height, but the width is only 2 or 3 characters - not the entire table. If I set the width of the div to a fixed number, say width: 300px; I can coax IE into displaying it properly. However, the length of my users' names varies considerably, and I'd rather not nail down the div to its maximum possible width and then have a crapload of whitespace when you look at an item voted on only by "Joe". Using width: auto; has no effect in IE7. Are there alternatives? Sorry if I've overlooked a similar question. I searched for a bit before posting but didn't find anything suitable.   • Accessing variable from ARGV

    I'm writing a cPanel postwwwact script, if you're not familiar with the script its run after a new account is created. it relies on the user account variable being passed to the script which i then use for various things (creating databases etc). However, I can't seem to find the right way to access the variable i want. I'm not that good with shell scripts so i'd appreciate some advice. I had read somewhere that the value i wanted would be included in $ARGV{'user'} but this simply gives "root" as opposed to the value i need. I've tried looping through all the arguments (list of arguments here) like this: #!/bin/sh for var do touch /root/testvars/$var done and the value i want is in there, i'm just not sure how to accurately target it. There's info here on doing this with PHP or Perl but i have to do this as a shell script. EDIT Ideally i would like to be able to call the variable by something other than $1 or $2 etc as this would create issues if an argument is added or removed Any ideas?

I want to allow the user to login and then I have embedded an iframe into domain B.com which attempts to grab the cookie from A.com to allow the user to be continued to be signed in. I can't seem to get this working in IE ? A new session gets set instead and the cookie is never retrieved. I have set a P3P policy ? Any ideas what I am doing wrong.

  • How do I send a file as an email attachment using Linux command line?

    I've created a script that runs every night on my Linux server that uses mysqldump to back up each of my MySQL databases to .sql files and packages them together as a compressed .tar file. The next step I want to accomplish is to send that tar file through email to a remote email server for safekeeping. I've been able to send the raw script in the body an email by piping the backup text file to mailx like so: $ cat mysqldbbackup.sql | mailx [email protected] cat echoes the backup file's text which is piped into the mailx program with the recipient's email address passed as an argument. While this accomplishes what I need, I think it could be one step better, Is there any way, using shell scripts or otherwise, to send the compressed .tar file to an outgoing email message as an attachment? This would beat having to deal with very long email messages which contain header data and often have word-wrapping issues etc.
