  • how to get the value of a kendoui dropdown list selected value in a listview

    - by user1568738
am having Some kendoui listviews which consists of kendoui dropdown lists and i want to get those dropdown list selected values. To do this am trying, $("#cnty1").val(); and here is my dropdownlist,i.e., list of countries coming from Database table, <input select STYLE="width:90px;height:auto" id ="cnty1" data-bind="value:cnty1" name="cnty1" data-type="string" data-text-field="cnty" data-value-field="cntyid" data-source="sourcedata1" class="k-d" data-role="dropdownlist" /> <span data-for="cnty1" class="k-invalid-msg"></span> here cnty1 is the id of the dropdown list, but am not getting the value instead am getting "id" of the slected value but not the selected value. And also if the value is not selected am getting the first value id by using $("#cnty1").val(); So, please suggest me a solution so that, 1) I should get only the Selected value and 2) Value of the dropdown list Only if the user selects a value from the list, but don't get the value of the list without selecting.

  • How to get users to read error messages?

    - by FX
If you program for a nontechnical audience, you find yourself at a high risk that users will not read your carefully worded and enlightening error messages, but just click on the first button available with a shrug of frustration. So, I'm wondering what good practices you can recommend to help users actually read your error message, instead of simply waiving it aside. Ideas I can think of would fall along the lines of: Formatting of course help; maybe a simple, short message, with a "learn more" button that leads to the longer, more detailed error message Have all error messages link to some section of the user guide (somewhat difficult to achieve) Just don't issue error messages, simply refuse to perform the task (a somewhat "Apple" way of handling user input) Edit: the audience I have in mind is a rather broad user base that doesn't use the software too often and is not captive (i.e., not an in-house software or narrow community). A more generic form of this question was asked on slashdot, so you may want to check there for some of the answers.

  • How to get the clicked element in a dynamically built JQuery Treeview?

    - by Alexander
I have a product database with several product categories. Each category has a number of sub-categories, which has sub-sub-categories, which has... Well, quite some levels deep. The tree is too huge to load at once, so I need to built it dynamically as users select specific product categories. Here's a snapshot of the product tree. Initially, only the first level is loaded. The second level (Cat. 1.1 and cat. 1.2) is added when the user clicks on cat. 1: <ul id="navigation"> <li id="625212">Product cat. 1 <ul> <li id="625213">Product cat. 1.1 <ul></ul> </li> <li id="625109">Product cat. 1.2 <ul></ul> </li> </ul> </li> <li id="624990">Product cat. 2 <ul></ul> </li> </ul> I intend to extend the tree as users click on specific product categories. I can get the list of sub-categories from a URL that takes the parent product category ID as input and outputs HTML in the format needed by treeview. I cannot use PHP and have to make this work with the .click() event. Here's the code that I have: $(document).ready(function(){ function doSomethingWithData(htmldata, id) { var branches = $(htmldata).appendTo("#navigation #"+id+" ul"); $("#navigation").treeview({ add: branches }); } $("#navigation").treeview({ collapsed: true, unique: true, persist: "location" }); $("#navigation li[id]").click(function() { var id=$(this).attr("id"); if ($("#"+$(this).attr("id")+" ul li").size()==0) { $.get('someurl?id='+$(this).attr("id"), function(data) { doSomethingWithData(data, id); } ) } }); }); The problem I'm having is with the click-event. When clicking on cat 1.1. to extend it one level deeper, it still returns the ID of the top level product category. How can I change the click events so that it will return the ID of the clicked <LI> instead of the top one? If the product category does not have any sub-categories, how can I remove the <UL></UL> and thus inidcating that the tree cannot be expanded any further?

  • How do I retrieve the values entered in a nested control added dynamically to a webform?

    - by Front Runner
I have a date range user control with two calendar controls: DateRange.ascx public partial class DateRange { public string FromDate { get { return calFromDate.Text; } set { calFromDate.Text = value; } } public string ToDate { get { return calToDate.Date; } set { calToDate.Text = value; } } } I have another user control in which DateRange control is loaded dynamically: ParamViewer.ascx public partial class ParamViewer { public void Setup(string sControlName) { //Load parameter control Control control = LoadControl("DateRange.ascx"); Controls.Add(control); DateRange dteFrom = (DateRange)control.FindControl("calFromDate"); DateRange dteTo = (DateRange)control.FindControl("calToDate"); } } I have a main page webForm1.aspx where ParamViewer.ascx is added When user enter the dates, they're set correctly in DateRange control. My question is how how do I retrieve the values entered in DateRange (FromDate and ToDate)control from btnSubmit_Click event in webForm1? Please advise. Thank you in advance.

  • Time to start returning IQueryable<T> instead of IList<T> to my Web UI / Web API Layer?

    - by JohnnyO
I've got a multi-layer application that starts with the repository pattern for all data access and it returns IQueryable to the Services layer. The Services layer, which includes all of the business logic, returns IList to the Controllers (note: I'm using ASP.NET MVC for the UI layer). The benefit of returning IQueryable in the data access layer is that it allows my repositories to be extremely simple and the database queries to be deferred. However, I'm triggering the database queries in my services layer so that my unit tests is more reliable and I don't give flexibility to the Controllers to reshape my queries. However, I've recently encountered several situations where deferring the execution of queries down to the Controllers would have been significantly more performant because the Controllers had to do some projections on the data that was UI specific. Additionally, with the emergence of things like oData, I was starting to wonder if end points (e.g. web UI or web apis) should be working directly with IQueryable. What are your thoughts? Is it time to start returning IQueryable from the services layer to the UI layer? Or stick with IList? This thread here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/718624/to-return-iqueryablet-or-not-return-iqueryablet seems to vouch for returning IList to the UI layers, but I was wondering if things are changing because of new emerging technologies and techniques.

  • CSS and jQuery slider height/positioning question

    - by wilwaldon
TEST SITE If you look at the example above the slider on the right has 2 images. The first one is smaller than the second. The second is around 500px high. What I'm looking to do is expand the slider vertically depending on the height of the images inside. I believe the js is setting the height of the image when it is called from the server and I can't find a way to override it with the CSS. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you!

  • Ajax Div Maintain Height

    - by pws5068
Greetings, I have a list of user comments on a page, with a next button which makes an Ajax call to get the second set of comments. The problem is, the height of the comments div temporarily becomes very small while the loading bar is in place. This makes the user need to scroll back down to see the new comments The issue can be seen at the bottom of this page by clicking "Next" comments. Is there a way to force the div to maintain its height through Javascript? I do not want to hard code the div height in case a page has 3 or less comments.

  • web grid server pagination trigger multiple controller call when changing page

    - by Thomas Scattolin
    When I server-filter on "au" my web grid and change page, multiple call to the controller are done : the first with 0 filtering, the second with "a" filtering, the third with "au" filtering. My table load huge data so the first call is longer than others. I see the grid displaying firstly the third call result, then the second, and finally the first call (this order correspond to the response time of my controller due to filter parameter) Why are all that controller call made ? Can't just my controller be called once with my total filter "au" ? What should I do ? Here is my grid : $("#" + gridId).kendoGrid({ selectable: "row", pageable: true, filterable:true, scrollable : true, //scrollable: { // virtual: true //false // Bug : Génère un affichage multiple... //}, navigatable: true, groupable: true, sortable: { mode: "multiple", // enables multi-column sorting allowUnsort: true }, dataSource: { type: "json", serverPaging: true, serverSorting: true, serverFiltering: true, serverGrouping:false, // Ne fonctionne pas... pageSize: '@ViewBag.Pagination', transport: { read: { url: Procvalue + "/LOV", type: "POST", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8" }, parameterMap: function (options, type) { // Mise à jour du format d'envoi des paramètres // pour qu'ils puissent être correctement interprétés côté serveur. // Construction du paramètre sort : if (options.sort != null) { var sort = options.sort; var sort2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < sort.length; i++) { sort2 = sort2 + sort[i].field + '-' + sort[i].dir + '~'; } options.sort = sort2; } if (options.group != null) { var group = options.group; var group2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < group.length; i++) { group2 = group2 + group[i].field + '-' + group[i].dir + '~'; } options.group = group2; } if (options.filter != null) { var filter = options.filter.filters; var filter2 = ""; for (i = 0; i < filter.length; i++) { // Vérification si type colonne == string. // Parcours des colonnes pour trouver celle qui a le même nom de champ. var type = ""; for (j = 0 ; j < colonnes.length ; j++) { if (colonnes[j].champ == filter[i].field) { type = colonnes[j].type; break; } } if (filter2.length == 0) { if (type == "string") { // Avec '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~'" + filter[i].value + "'"; } else { // Sans '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~" + filter[i].value; } } else { if (type == "string") { // Avec '' autour de la valeur. filter2 = filter2 + '~' + options.filter.logic + '~' + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~'" + filter[i].value + "'"; }else{ filter2 = filter2 + '~' + options.filter.logic + '~' + filter[i].field + '~' + filter[i].operator + "~" + filter[i].value; } } } options.filter = filter2; } var json = JSON.stringify(options); return json; } }, schema: { data: function (data) { return eval(data.data.Data); }, total: function (data) { return eval(data.data.Total); } }, filter: { logic: "or", filters:filtre(valeur) } }, columns: getColonnes(colonnes) }); Here is my controller : [HttpPost] public ActionResult LOV([DataSourceRequest] DataSourceRequest request) { return Json(CProduitsManager.GetProduits().ToDataSourceResult(request)); }

  • Dinamically creating a member ID card as pdf using PHP?

    - by aefxx
I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birth day along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP librarys out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas? EDIT I solved it using the TCPDF library which let's you scale images at a certain resolution. Get it here: http://www.tecnick.com/public/code/cp_dpage.php?aiocp_dp=tcpdf

  • How to use JQUERY to filter table rows dynamically using multiple form inputs

    - by tresstylez
I'm displaying a table with multiple rows and columns. I'm using a JQUERY plugin called uiTableFilter which uses a text field input and filters (shows/hides) the table rows based on the input you provide. All you do is specify a column you want to filter on, and it will display only rows that have the text field input in that column. Simple and works fine. I want to add a SECOND text input field that will help me narrow the results down even further. So, for instance if I had a PETS table and one column was petType and one was petColor -- I could type in CAT into the first text field, to show ALL cats, and then in the 2nd text field, I could type black, and the resulting table would display only rows where BLACK CATS were found. Basically, a subset. Here is the JQUERY I'm using: $("#typeFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( theTable, this.value, "petType" ); } }) // end typefilter $("#colorFilter").live('keyup', function() { if ($(this).val().length > 2 || $(this).val().length == 0) { var newTable = $('#pets'); $.uiTableFilter( newTable, this.value, "petColor" ); } }) // end colorfilter Problem is, I can use one filter, and it will display the correct subset of table rows, but when I provide input for the other filter, it doesn't seem to recognize the visible table rows that are remaining from the previous column, but instead it appears that it does an entirely new filtering of the original table. If 10 rows are returned after applying one filter, the 2nd filter should only apply to THOSE 10 rows. I've tried LIVE and BIND, but not working. Can anyone shed some light on where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

  • Using fscanf with dynamically allocated buffer.

    - by ryyst
Hi, I got the following code: char buffer[2047]; int charsRead; do { if(fscanf(file, "%2047[^\n]%n%*c", buffer, &charsRead) == 1) { // Do something } } while (charsRead == 2047); I wanted to convert this code to use dynamically allocated variables so that when calling this code often I won't get heavy memory leakage. Thus, I tried this: char *buffer = malloc(sizeof(char) * 2047); int *charsRead = malloc(sizeof(int)); do { if(fscanf(file, "%2047[^\n]%n%*c", *buffer, charsRead) == 1) { // Do something } } while (*charsRead == 2047); Unfortunately, this does not work. I always get “EXC_BAD_ACCESS” errors, just before the if-statement with the fscanf call. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help! -- Ry

  • JW Player: cross-browser "display:none" player behavior

    - by two7s_clash
Is there a simple, upfront method to have FF and IE treat hidden JW Players the same? I am placing different instances of the player dynamically in jQuery generated tabs. In effect, switching tabs hides the parent div of each player. In FireFox, the tab switch and accompanying "display" change stops the player. This doesn't happen in IE. I would like it to. What is the easiest way to have both browsers act the same? I am hoping for a CSS/HTML solution, either thorough the way the players are embedded or a style rule Otherwise I suppose I will need to add an item listener that compares the currently selected tab id to currently active players... but I'd rather not go that route. Thanks for your tips! EDIT: So, I'd rather be able to change the player CSS or markup on tab change than send stop events to all the players but the player in the currently active tab.

  • Reference app relative virtual paths in .css file

    - by bravo9
Assume I have an "images" folder directory under the root of my application. How can I, from within a .css file, reference an image in this directory using an ASP.NET app relative path. Example: When in development, the path of ~/Images/Test.gif might resolve to /MyApp/Images/Test.gif while, in production, it might resolve to /Images/Test.gif (depending on the virtual directory for the application). I, obviously, want to avoid having to modify the .css file between environments. I know you can use Page.ResolveClientUrl to inject a url into a control's Style collection dynamically at render time. I would like to avoid doing this.

  • How to continuously scroll content within a DIV using jQuery?

    - by Camsoft
    Aim The aim is to a have a container DIV with a fixed height and width and have the HTML content within that DIV automatically scroll vertically continuously. Question Basically I've created the code below using jQuery to scroll (move) the child DIV vertically upwards until its outside the bounding parent box where the animation then completes which triggers an event handler which resets the position of the child DIV and starts the process again. This works fine, so the content scrolls up leaving a blank space and then starts from the bottom again and scrolls up. The problem I have is that the requirements for this is for the content to appear as if it was continuously repeating, see below diagram to better explain this, is there a way to do this? (I don't want to use 3rd party plug ins or libraries other than jQuery): What I have so far The HTML: <div id="scrollingContainer"> <div class="scroller"> <h1>This is a title</h1> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse at orci mi, id gravida tellus. Integer malesuada ante sit amet enim pulvinar congue. Donec pulvinar dolor et arcu posuere feugiat id et felis.</p> <p>More content....</p> </div> </div> The CSS: #scrollingContainer{ height: 300px; width: 300px; overflow: hidden; } #scrollingContainer DIV.scroller{ position: relative; } The JavaScript: /** * Scrolls the content DIV */ function scroll() { if($('DIV.scroller').height() > $('#scrollingContainer').height()) { var t = $('DIV.scroller').position().top + $('DIV.scroller').height(); /* Animate */ $('DIV.scroller').animate( { top: '-=' + t + 'px' } , 4000, 'linear', animationComplete); } } function animationComplete() { $(this).css('top', $('#scrollingContainer').height()); scroll(); }

  • JAVA - Create variable names using a loop?

    - by SeerUK
Hi, first time poster, long time reader so be gentle with me :) See the following code which works to generate me timestamps for the beginning and end of every month in a financial year. int year = 2010; // Financial year runs from Sept-Aug so earlyMonths are those where year = FY-1 and lateMonths are those where year = FY int[] earlyMonths = {8, 9, 10, 11}; // Sept to Dec int earlyYear = year -1; for (int i : earlyMonths) { month = i; Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.clear(); cal.set(earlyYear,month,1,0,0,0); Long start = cal.getTimeInMillis(); cal.clear(); cal.set(earlyYear,month,1); lastDayofMonth = cal.getActualMaximum(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_MONTH); cal.set(earlyYear,month,lastDayofMonth,23,59,59); Long end = cal.getTimeInMillis(); } int[] lateMonths = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}; // Jan to Aug for (int i : lateMonths) { month = i; Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.clear(); cal.set(year,month,1,0,0,0); Long start = cal.getTimeInMillis(); cal.clear(); cal.set(year,month,1); lastDayofMonth = cal.getActualMaximum(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_MONTH); cal.set(year,month,lastDayofMonth,23,59,59); Long end = cal.getTimeInMillis(); } So far so good, but in order to use these results I need these timestamps to be output to variables named by month (to be used in a prepared statement later in the code. e.g. SeptStart = sometimestamp, SeptEnd = some timestamp etc etc. I don't know if it is possible to declare new variables based on the results of each loop. Any ideas?

  • Custom title bar without padding (Android)

    - by Casebash
So I am using the techniques in this thread to use a custom background for my titlebar. Unfortunately the framework places my layout inside a FrameLayout which has padding and so the image doesn't cover the whole bar, but instead has gray borderes. Is there anyway to remove this padding? I can't just set the padding attributes because I do not create the frame layout.
