  • Prevent RegEx Hang on Large Matches...

    - by developerjay
This is a great regular expression for dates... However it hangs indefinitely on this one page I tried... I wanted to try this page ( http://pleac.sourceforge.net/pleac%5Fpython/datesandtimes.html ) for the fact that it does have lots of dates on it and I want to grab all of them. I don't understand why it is hanging when it doesn't on other pages... Why is my regexp hanging and/or how could I clean it up to make it better/efficient ? Python Code: monthnames = "(?:Jan\w*|Feb\w*|Mar\w*|Apr\w*|May|Jun\w?|Jul\w?|Aug\w*|Sep\w*|Oct\w*|Nov(?:ember)?|Dec\w*)" pattern1 = re.compile(r"(\d{1,4}[\/\\\-]+\d{1,2}[\/\\\-]+\d{2,4})") pattern4 = re.compile(r"(?:[\d]*[\,\.\ \-]+)*%s(?:[\,\.\ \-]+[\d]+[stndrh]*)+[:\d]*[\ ]?(PM)?(AM)?([\ \-\+\d]{4,7}|[UTCESTGMT\ ]{2,4})*"%monthnames, re.I) patterns = [pattern4, pattern1] for pattern in patterns: print re.findall(pattern, s) btw... when i say im trying it against this site.. I'm trying it against the webpage source.

  • fastest method for minimum of two numbers

    - by user85030
I was going through mit's opencourseware related to performance engineering. The quickest method (requiring least number of clock cycles) for finding the minimum of two numbers(say x and y) is stated as: min= y^((x^y) & -(x<y)) The output of the expression x < y can be 0 or 1 (assuming C is being used) which then changes to -0 or -1. I understand that xor can be used to swap two numbers. Questions: 1. How is -0 different from 0 and -1 in terms of binary? 2. How is that result used with the and operator to get the minimum? Thanks in advance.

  • Proper chart scaling in Reporting Services 2005

    - by lastas
I'm developing a simple bar-chart in Reporting Services 2005 with a stored procedure as data-source. The values in this graph can be both positive and negative, and can span a very big range, and hence I cannot specify any non-dynamic scale that will work for all scenarios. The problem I'm facing is that the automatic scaling pretty much sucks. I get no line to show where the zero-point is, and the y-scale labels are from top to bottom: 8818 -191181 -391181 etc etc... So my question is, what is the best approach to make the scale more adapted to human reading? Is there any guide out there? Does reporting services 2008 handle this better? Also, moving away from Reporting Services is not really an option. I realize how to put values and expression in the max, min, and the gridline interval fields, although its more of a question what expressions I should put there.

  • Searching for URL's Relative to Site Root in Javascript Source

    - by James
Hi, I am working on a web site with several other developers and we have had problems where people commit JavaScript code with AJAX calls that use URL's relative to the site root. An example would be /Home/Index which will not work if the site is hosted in a virtual directory. To get round the problem we use a $.url() method to convert it to a full path, e.g. $("#container").load($.url("/Home/Index")) I am trying to write a unit test that will search each JavaScript file and find places where the $.url method is not being used. The only problem is that I cannot seem to write a regex expression to do this. I have tried the following: (?!\$\.url\()"(/\w*)+" But this does not work. I cannot find a way to say that I don't want the $.url in front. Does anyone know if this is possible? Note that I need regular expressions that are compatible with .NET Thanks.

  • SQL Convert Nvarchar(255) to DateTime problem

    - by steven
Hi, I'm using SQL server 2008. I have 2 Tables: Table 1 and Table 2. Table 1 has 1 column called: OldDate which is nvarchar(255), null Table 2 has 1 column called: NewDate which is datetime, not null Example data in Table 1: 26/07/03 NULL NULL 23/07/2003 7/26/2003 NULL 28/07/03 When i try CAST(OldDate as datetime) I get this error: Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime. I need to insert OldDate into NewDate with no errors. I can't skip some rows. Anyhelp would be appreciated.

  • How is a set partitioned into valid and invalid items using LINQ?

    - by Aaron Anodide
    Is there a way to write a single LINQ expression to get the same result of the following code? var validations = new Func<conversion, bool>[] { c => c.affiliate.affiliate_id > 0, c => c.campaign_id > 0 }; var invalidConversions = from c in extractedConversions where validations.Any(valid => !valid(c)) select c; var validConversions = from c in extractedConversions where validations.All(valid => valid(c)) select c;

  • PHP editors for Ubuntu

    - by mepo
What are the Light weight PHP editors available for ubuntu? And is there a ubuntu version of the Notepad++ editor. For those who haven't used Notepad++, do not confuse it with Notepad.exe. Notepad.exe is the lightweight Windows editor by Microsoft. Notepad++ is an Open Source programmer's text editor for Windows based on SciTE. It has syntax highlighting, code collapsing, language recognition, macro recording, regular expression search and replace across line breaks and in files on disk, copy filenames and paths to clipboard, and many other advance text editing tools. Only the more full-featured editors for Linux would be likely to be suitable replacements for Notepad++. Thanks

  • Splitting up input using regular expressions in Java

    - by Joe24
    I am making a program that lets a user input a chemical for example C9H11N02. When they enter that I want to split it up into pieces so I can have it like C9, H11, N, 02. When I have it like this I want to make changes to it so I can make it C10H12N203 and then put it back together. This is what I have done so far. using the regular expression I have used I can extract the integer value, but how would I go about get C10, H11 etc..? System.out.println("Enter Data"); Scanner k = new Scanner( System.in ); String input = k.nextLine(); String reg = "\\s\\s\\s"; String [] data; data = input.split( reg ); int m = Integer.parseInt( data[0] ); int n = Integer.parseInt( data[1] );

  • How can I test if an input field contains foreign characters?

    - by zeckdude
I have an input field in a form. Upon pushing submit, I want to validate to make sure the user entered non-latin characters only, so any foreign language characters, like Chinese among many others. Or at the very least test to make sure it does not contain any latin characters. Could I use a regular expression for this? What would be the best approach for this? I am validating in both javaScript and in PHP. What solutions can I use to check for foreign characters in the input field in both programming languages?

  • Throwing out of range exception in C++

    - by Shinka
    This code works; int at(int index) { if(index < 1 || index >= size) throw 0; return x[index]; } Yet this doesn't int at(int index) { if(index < 1 || index >= size) throw std::out_of_range; return x[index]; } I get the error "expected primary expression before ';'". Now... it surprises me because I know std::out_of_range exists and I have #include <stdexcept>

  • Regex for Date DD-MM-YYYY

    - by Josh M
I have the following expression which will be used as date validation in the HTML5 "pattern" attribute. ?:0[1-9]|1[0-9]|2[0-9])|(?:(?!02)(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:30))|(?:(?:0[13578]|1[02])-31))-(?:(?:0[1-9]|1[0-2])-(?:19|20)[0-9]{2} I want it to allow only valid dates, using "-" as a separator. This means up to 29th in February if it's a leap year, and 30/31 for other months respectively. Currently, it only allows years starting with 2 (2012) and months up to 12 (December). But it limits the day to 29 regardless of which month. Can anybody help me fix it?

  • boost test case for function taking user input

    - by oadams
I have a function that takes in user input via std::cin: std::getline(std::cin, in); and creates a corresponding data structure by matching it with a regular expression. The function then returns this data structure. I'm using boost.test and I want to create a unit test to check that the output data type is correct given some inputs. However I don't know how to go about it since the input isn't passed as an argument to the function. EDIT: Is there a simple way to create a boost test case that feeds the function a string via standard input?

  • Question in Flex (parser)

    - by shkk
Hello... I want to ask you a question about Flex, the program for parsing code. Supposing I have an instruction like this one, in the rules part: "=" BEGIN(attribution); <attribution>{var_name} { fprintf(yyout, "="); ECHO; } <attribution>";" BEGIN(INITIAL); {var_name} is a regular expression that matches a variable's name, and all I want to do is to copy at the output all the attribution instructions, such as a = 3; or b = a; My rule though cannot write with fprintf the left member of the attribution, but only = 3; or =a; One solution for that might be that, after I make the match "=" and I am in the attribution state, to go 2 positions back as to get the left operand as well. How can I do that in Flex?

  • F# match char values

    - by rwallace
I'm trying to match an integer expression against character literals, and the compiler complains about type mismatch. let rec read file includepath = let ch = ref 0 let token = ref 0 use stream = File.OpenText file let readch() = ch := stream.Read() let lex() = match !ch with | '!' -> readch() | _ -> token := !ch ch has to be an int because that's what stream.Read returns in order to use -1 as end of file marker. If I replace '!' with int '!' it still doesn't work. What's the best way to do this?

  • Erlang bit syntax variable issue

    - by Jimmy Ruska
Is there any way to format this so it's a valid expression, without adding another step? <<One:8,_:(One*8)>> = <<1,9>>. * 1: illegal bit size These work <<One:8,_:(1*8)>> = <<1,9>>. <<1,9>> <<Eight:8,_:Eight>> = <<8,9>>. <<8,9>> I'm trying to parse a binary with nested data with list comprehensions instead of stacking accumulators.

  • @ symbol for strings in jQuery

    - by anilca
if (confirm('<%=Ns1.Ns2.MyClass.GetResourceText("DeleteConfirmationMessage")%>')) { /* something to do...*/ } I have a jQuery expression as above. But the return value of GetResourceText method is a very long string. So my page renders the function like below: if (confirm(' Are you sure lablabla? If you delete this lablabla... lablabla... ')) { Because of this my jQuery functions do not work. Is there a symbol for jQuery like @ that we use in C#?

  • Bash, Concatenating 2 strings to reference a 3rd variable

    - by Im Fine
I have a bash script I am having some issues with concatenating 2 variables to call a 3rd. Here is a simplification of the script, but the syntax is eluding me after reading the docs. server_list_all="server1 server2 server3"; var1 = "server"; var2 = "all"; echo $(($var1_list_$var2)); This is about as close as I get to the right answer, it acknowledges the string and tosses an error on tokenization. syntax error in expression (error token is "server1 server2 server3.... Not really seeing anything in the docs for this, but it should be doable. EDIT: Cleaned up a bit

  • Some pro regular expressions help needed here

    - by Camran
I need a special regular expression, have no experience in them whatsoever so I am turning to you guys on this one: I need to validate a classifieds title field so it doesn't have any special characters in it, almost. Only letters and numbers should be allowed, and also the swedish three letters å, ä, ö, and also not case sensitive. Besides the above, these should also be allowed: The "&" sign. Parenthesis sign "()" Mathematical signs "-", "+", "%", "/", "*" Dollar and Euro signs Accent sign or whatever it's called, for example in "coupé" the apostrophe above the "e". Double quote and singel quote signs. The comma "," and point "." signs Thanks

  • Creating Slugs from Titles?

    - by James Jeffery
I have everything in place to create slugs from titles, but there is one issue. My RegEx replaces spaces with hyphens. But when a user types "Hi     there" (multiple spaces) the slug ends up as "Hi-----there". When really it should be "Hi-there". Should I create the regular expression so that it only replaces a space when there is a character either side? Or is there an easier way to do this?

  • Delayed evaluation in Clojure

    - by StackedCrooked
I'm having some trouble understanding how the delay macro works in Clojure. It doesn't seem to do what expect it to do (that is: delaying evaluation). As you can see in this code sample: ; returns the current time (defn get-timestamp [] (.getTime (java.util.Date.))) ; var should contain the current timestamp after calling "force" (def current-time (delay (get-timestamp))) However, calling current-time in the REPL appears to immediately evaluate the expression, even without having used the force macro: user=> current-time #<Delay@19b5217: 1276376485859> user=> (force current-time) 1276376485859 Why was the evaluation of get-timestamp not delayed until the first force call?

  • Regex: Match opening/closing chars with spaces

    - by Israfel
I'm trying to complete a regular expression that will pull out matches based on their opening and closing characters, the closest I've gotten is ^(\[\[)[a-zA-Z.-_]+(\]\]) Which will match a string such as "[[word1]]" and bring me back all the matches if there is more than one, The problem is I want it to pick up matchs where there may be a space in so for example "[[word1 word2]]", now this will work if I add a space into my pattern above however this pops up a problem that it will only get one match for my entire string so for example if I have a string "Hi [[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]], How are you" then the match will be "[[Title]] [[Name]] [[surname]]" rather than 3 matches "[[Title]]", "[[Name]]", "[[surname]]". I'm sure I'm just a char or two away in the Regex but I'm stuck, How can I make it return the 3 matches. Thanks

  • PHP reg expr. replace ALL URLs except img src URLs

    - by zilveer
Hi, I have searched but havent been able to find my answer. It follows like: I would like to replace all URL in a string to links except the URLs within img src tag. I have a regular expression for replacing all the URLs to links, but would like it to NOT replace the URLs within img src="" attribute. How can i do this? Here is the code for replacing all URLs: /*** make sure there is an http:// on all URLs ***/ $str = preg_replace("/([^\w\/])(www\.[a-z0-9\-]+\.[a-z0-9\-]+)/i", "$1http://$2",$str); /*** make all URLs links ***/ $str = preg_replace("/([\w]+:\/\/[\w-?&;#~=\.\/\@]+[\w\/])/i","<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"$1\">$1</a>",$str); /Regards

  • Can we use (id) in if- else condition ?

Should not we use (id) in if condition ? I want to get called two selectors by using the if- else condition. How can I make it ? Thank You.

  • Assign RegEx submatches to variables or map (C++/C)

    - by Michael
I need to extract the SAME type of information (e.g. First name, Last Name, Telephone, ...), from numerous different text sources (each with a different format & different order of the variables of interest). I want a function that does the extraction based on a regular expression and returns the result as DESCRIPTIVE variables. In other words, instead of returning each match result as submatch[0], submatch[1], submatch[2], ..., have it do EITHER of the following: 1.) return std::map so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch["first_name"], submatch["last_name"], submatch["telephone"] 2.) return a variables with the submatches so that the submatches can be accessed via: submatch_first_name, submatch_last_name, submatch_telephone I can write a wrapper class around boost::regex to do #1, but I was hoping there would be a built-in or a more elegant way to do this in C++/Boost/STL/C.
