  • Text to MP3 using System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer

    I am trying to get a text-to-speech to save to an MP3. Currently I have the System.Speech.Synthesis speaking to a WAV file nicely. With New System.Speech.Synthesis.SpeechSynthesizer '.SetOutputToWaveFile(pOutputPath) This works fine .SetOutputToWaveStream(<<Problem bit>>) .Speak(pTextToSpeak) .SetOutputToNull() .Dispose() End With Now the first line commented out produces a WAV file which is nice. Currently I am trying to replace that with an MP3 output stream and not having much success. I have tried the Yeti.MMedia converter but either it isn't going to work or I haven't got it to work successfully. I have to admit here I don't know much about encodings, speeds etc. So the question I have is, does anyone know of a nice way I can say something like the following: .SetOutputToWaveStream(New MP3WriteStream(pOutputPath)) and have the SpeechSynthesizer write to the WAV which then gets converted to the MP3 and ends up on the HDD.

  • install 64-bit glib2 on 32-bit system for cross-compiling

    I'm trying to cross-compile a 64-bit executable on a 32-bit ubuntu system. This works up until linking, where it fails due to the lack of a 64-bit glib2 (libglib-2.0.a). If I were doing this on a 64-bit system, I would use getlibs to install a 32-bit glib2 into /usr/lib32. However, on a 32-bit machine getlibs doesn't seem to do the opposite-- install a 64-bit glib2 into /usr/lib64. My quesiton is: how do I manually do what getlibs should do, that is, install a 64-bit glib2 into /usr/lib64?

  • gparted installed on OpenSuse shows all file system types as greyed out except for hfs

    I have had this problem before and fixed it, but I don't recall how I did it and I did not record it (sadness :( ) I have all the requisite commands installed on OpenSuse to support gparted's efforts in creating any of the supported file systems. I recall that the problem was that gparted could not find the commands, in any event all the file systems are greyed out in the context menu except for the legacy hfs partition which only supports < 2gb. Even extfs2-extfs4 are greyed out. How do I fix this?

Can someone explain the parameters and where quotes go and possibly rewrite my parameters line?   • Gridview header issue: call event on header

    Now I got this gridview, And I need the headers to be clickable, whereafter an event starts (something like OnClickHeader="header_ClickEvent"?) Ofcourse there is a SortExpression element, which enables to sort the grid, but I want to be able to start any event, like when clicking a button. I could not find any solution within the asp:BoundField nor asp:TemplateField... I thought a hyperlink could solve the problem, but that was a bit premature. Also, when using a TemplateField, I find it very hard to fill the column with data. Could anyone bring me the solution?   • What’s the Minimum System Spec Recommended For Developer Laptop

    I'll be regularly running Visual Studio 2010 Professional, SQLServer Express, Office and at least 1 virtual environment running a Linux Distro. I want the machine to be snappy and responsive even when doing a reasonable amount of Development work. I want to spend what it takes for this, but I don't want to go overboard spending more than I need to. I won't be playing many games or graphics processing so i won't need a monster of a machine. Any recommendations?

    Hi, On my SSAS 2008 instance if a backup/restore of any database is made to/from a UNC path I get an error : The following system error occurred from a call to GetOverlappedResult for Physical file: '\server\share\OLAPDB.abf', Logical file: '' : Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service. . Server: The operation has been cancelled. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices) Creating/copying/moving a file on the share of any size on the share using explorer or the command prompt works.   • Creating a user-defined code generation system in PHP

    My newest project that I'm looking to build with CodeIgniter would require some sort of system that would allow a user to drag and drop pre-defined functions/methods into mini-classes/objects and then run/test them in the browser. So it'd something similar to Scratch. I've designed a relational database that I think could work for this (storing the function names and have these classes "subscribe" to those functions) - but I'm wondering whether or not to go ahead with it. Is there a better way to do this or is there a system out there that would accomplish this for me? EDIT: It would have to be extremely simple for an end user, but hopefully be flexible enough to easily add more complex functionality in the future.

    Hi folks, I have a winforms c# app that has an embedded webbrowser control inside it generated through VS.NET 2008. However it fails to cast the pEvtObj.srcElement when VS.NET is not installed. This immediately starts working when we install the most basic VS.NET with C# that you can. To note: The rest of the c# app works fine, and you can browser the web through the control fine as well, just that the events like the above 'onclick' can't be handled properly. I would like to minimize downtime, so thinking about wrapping reboot in an alias that says "hang on buddy, you're going to hit a fsck on boot". Next question.. what's the best way to say "lets do it next time?" set the last check date? I know tune2fs can set a bunch of parameters, but how would I get em?

    Hi, First I would like to say that I'm really new to ipad/ipod/iphone development, and to objective-c too. With that being said, I'm trying to develop a small application targeting the iPad, using Xcode and IB, basically, I have a table, for each UITableViewCell in the table, I added to the accessoryView a button that contains an image. Also, as you can see, I'm telling it to use the "cell.accessoryView" for the "inView:" attribute, is that okay?

  • mysql_tzinfo_to_sql missing on my system

    I ran into problem with timezones within MySQL. Long story short, my application is worldwide, and each database has it's own timezone set within the application (not the server) in the way of "Europe/Berlin", "Europe/Vienna", "America/Sao Paulo". Obviously this is unacceptable for MySQL at first per connection. I read that it handles data better if you use UTC offsets. Basically my goal is to log a field's alteration in another table using a trigger. For that I use UNIX_TIMESTAMP within the trigger. Although UNIX_TIMESTAMP() follows the global timezone for the server which obviously bothers me a lot :| So I went to search for a "per connection" solution to use inside the trigger and well I found that mysql_tzinfo_to_sql can actually import zone info (UTC offsets) from my linux's zoneinfo files. Although to my amuse, when I ran the commant I got the following: bash: mysql_tzinfo_to_sql: command not found So I'm looking for a solution to fix that. I don't want to "map" the timezone names into UTC offset just so I could use in the trigger. Is there an alternative tool? Or at least sources for this one in particular only? What kind of queries does this tool generates so I could do it manually then if there is no alternative tool. Thanks in advance on any help on the issue! P.S: The OS is Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 and the MySQL server is the one from aptitude with performance tweaks with my.cnf

    How is that for a lot of acronyms! I am having trouble testing GWT's RPC mechanism using GWT's GWTTestCase. I created a class for testing using the junitCreator tool included with GWT. I am attempting to test using the built in Google App Engine using the created "hosted mode" testing profile created by junitCreator. When I run the test, I keep getting errors saying things like Starting HTTP on port 0 HTTP listening on port 49569 The development shell servlet received a request for 'greet' in module 'com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit.gwt.xml' [WARN] Resource not found: greet; (could a file be missing from the public path or a <servlet> tag misconfigured in module com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit.gwt.xml ?) com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.StatusCodeException: Cannot find resource 'greet' in the public path of module 'com.google.gwt.sample.stockwatcher.StockWatcher.JUnit' I hope that someone somewhere has successfully run junit test (using GWTTestCase or just plain TestCase) that will allow for the testing of gwt RPC. If this is the case, could you please mention the steps you took, or better yet, just post code that works. Thanks.

    Question: The below code works fine as long as it is in an executable. It uses the msft (text-to-)speech API (SAPI). But as soon as I put it in a dll and load it with loadlibrary from an executable, it doesn't work. I've also tried to change CoInitialize(NULL); to CoInitializeEx(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED); and I tried with all possible flags ( COINIT_APARTMENTTHREADED, COINIT_MULTITHREADED, COINIT_DISABLE_OLE1DDE, COINIT_SPEED_OVER_MEMORY) But it's always stuck at hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); I also tried those flags here: CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,CLSCTX_SERVER, CLSCTX_ALL, but nothing seems to help... There are no errors, it doesn't crash, it just sleeps forever at CoCreateInstance...   • To clone or to automate a system installation?

    Let's say you're setting up a cluster of servers performing the same task. Or say you're just setting up a bunch of different servers, but you expect to use a base configuration on all of your servers. Would it be better practice to create a base image and clone it, or to automate the installation and configuration? I occasionally end up in this argument with my boss, in situations where we're time-pressed. When he sees me struggle with perfecting the automation, his suggestion is often to clone the entire disk to the other machines. But my instinct has always been to avoid cloning. This is mostly from an Ubuntu perspective, but the question is fairly general. My reasons for avoiding cloning are: On a typical install, even if it's fresh, there are already several unique identifiers installed: filesystem UUIDs, SSH host keys, among others. These would have to be regenerated. Network needs to be reconfigured for each clone. This would need to be done off-line, of course, or the settings will conflict with other machines on the network. On the other hand, some of the cloning advantages are quite clear as well: (Initially?) less effort required than automating configuration. Tools exist to quickly address (some) of the above disadvantages. (I can see right through my own bias there.)

  • FitNesse doesn't call setters in my fixture

    I have copied a trivial example from the FitNesse Two-Minute example: package com.mrijk; import fit.ColumnFixture; public class Foobar extends ColumnFixture { private double numerator; private double denominator; public void setNumerator(double numerator) {this.numerator = numerator;} public void setDenominator(double denominator) {this.denominator = denominator;} public double quotient() {return numerator/denominator;} } However all test fail with: "Could not find field: denominator.", so obviously the setDenominator is not found/used. When I make the the variables numerator and denominator public instead of private, the tests run successfully. I must be overlooking something, but can't see it yet. Anyone?

  • Can't Call resignFirstResponder from textFieldDidBeginEditing ? (iPhone)

    [myTextField becomeFirstResponder]; [myTextField resignFirstResonder]; When I do this -(BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)textField , it works. But when I use the same code inside -(void)textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField *)textField , it does not work. I am certain that it is calling textFieldDidBeginEditing. I have an NSLog inside the method and it is being called.
