  • MATLAB: Reading floating point numbers and strings from a file

    - by xsound
I am using the following functions for writing and reading 4098 floating point numbers in MATLAB: Writing: fid = fopen(completepath, 'w'); fprintf(fid, '%1.30f\r\n', y) Reading: data = textread(completepath, '%f', 4098); where y contains 4098 numbers. I now want to write and read 3 strings at the end of this data. How do I read two different datatypes? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

  • Invoking a PL/SQL function from EclipseLink

    - by Mark Robinson
I'm trying to execute a PL/SQL function in EclipseLink which uses Oracle Specific types(eg. Boolean). I've tried using PLSQLStoredProcedureCall which complains that I'm not executing a procedure and I have tried using StoredFunctionCall but that returns PLS-00382: expression is of wrong type Has anyone developed a solution to invoke functions in EclipseLink with Oracle Types? I have heard that it would be possible to extend StoredFunctionCall but I'd rather leverage existing functionality as much as possible.

  • printf and formatting rules

    - by Stringer Bell
I'd like to know if all formatting rules of printf functions currently work (or are implemented) in F# ? For instance, if I want to align arguments on 9 characters (padding with spaces or 0), I would use: printfn "%9A %9A" arg1 arg2 //don't seem to work Thanks!

  • How do I step through and debug a Scheme program using Dr. Racket?

    - by Thomas Owens
I'm using the Dr. Racket development environment and the language definition #lang scheme to do work for a course. However, I'm not sure how to best use this tool for debugging. I would like to be able to execute a function and step through it, observing the values of different functions at various points in execution. Is this possible? If not, what is the typical method of stepping through the execution of a Scheme program and debugging it?

  • Any way to automatically wrap comments at column 80 in Visual Studio 2008? ..or display where column

    - by Jon Cage
Is there any way to automatically wrap comments at the 80-column boundary as you type them? ..or failing that, any way to display a faint line at the coulmn 80 boundary to make wrapping them manually a little easier? Several other IDEs I use have one or other of those functions and it makes writing comments that wrap in sensible places much easier/quicker. [Edit] If (like me) you're using Visual C++ Express, you need to change the VisualStudio part of the key into VCExpress - had me confused for a while there!

  • PHP Mcrypt - Encrypting / Decrypting file

    - by whitman6732
    Trying to write a couple of functions that will encrypt or decrypt a file and am using the class found here to try and accomplish this: http://www.itnewb.com/v/PHP-Encryption-Decryption-Using-the-MCrypt-Library-libmcrypt The encryption function below seems to work, in that it appears to encrypt the file and place it in the intended directory. I'm trying to decrypt the file now, and it just dies with the message "Failed to complete decryption" (which is coded in there...) There's nothing in the php error logs, so I'm not sure why it's failing, but as mcrypt is entirely new to me, I'm more than inclined to believe I'm doing something wrong here... Here are the functions: //ENCRYPT FILE function encryptFile() { global $cryptastic; $pass = PGPPASS; $salt = PGPSALT; $key = $cryptastic->pbkdf2($pass, $salt, 1000, 32) or die("Failed to generate secret key."); if ($handle = opendir(PATH.'/ftpd')) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != "..") { $newfile = PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file.'.txt'; $msg = file_get_contents(PATH.'/ftpd/'.$file); $encrypted = $cryptastic->encrypt($msg, $key) or die("Failed to complete encryption."); $nfile = fopen($newfile, 'w'); fwrite($nfile, $encrypted); fclose($nfile); unlink(PATH.'/ftpd/'.$file); } } closedir($handle); } //DECRYPT FILE function inFTP() { global $cryptastic; $pass = PGPPASS; $salt = PGPSALT; $key = $cryptastic->pbkdf2($pass, $salt, 1000, 32) or die("Failed to generate secret key."); if ($handle = opendir(PATH.'/encrypted')) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != "..") { $newfile = PATH.'/decrypted/'.$file; $msg = PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file; $decrypted = $cryptastic->decrypt($msg, $key) or die("Failed to complete decryption."); $nfile = fopen($newfile, 'w'); fwrite($nfile, $decrypted); fclose($nfile); //unlink(PATH.'/encrypted/'.$file); } } closedir($handle); } //$crypt->decrypt($file); }

  • In which scenario it is useful to use Disassembly on python?

    - by systempuntoout
The dis module can be effectively used to disassemble Python methods, functions and classes into low-level interpreter instructions. I know that dis information can be used for: 1. Find race condition in programs that use threads 2. Find possible optimizations From your experience, do you know any other scenarios where Disassembly Python feature could be useful?

  • How can I merge properties of two JavaScript objects dynamically?

    - by JC Grubbs
I need to be able to merge two (very simple) JavaScript objects at runtime. For example I'd like to: var obj1 = { food: 'pizza', car: 'ford' } var obj2 = { animal: 'dog' } obj1.merge(obj2); //obj1 now has three properties: food, car, and animal Does anyone have a script for this or know of a built in way to do this? I do not need recursion, and I do not need to merge functions, just methods on flat objects.

  • Hidden features of Qt.

    - by Lukasz Lew
A little is hidden in Qt given splendid documentation. But given vastness of Qt functionality paradoxically many useful features have been overlooked by me (and reimplemented or work-arounded). What Qt functions you wish you have noticed earlier?

  • Are .dll files loaded once for every program or once for all programs?

    - by Nilbert
I have a simple small question which someone who knows will be able to answer easily, I searched google but couldn't find the answer. There are many programs running at once on a computer, and my question is: when a program loads a DLL, does it actually load the DLL file or does it find the memory in which the DLL is already loaded? For example, is ws2_32.dll (winsock 2) loaded for every program that uses winsock, or is it loaded once and all programs that use it use the same memory addresses to call the functions?

  • Qhttp request and response debugging.

    - by William Wilson
OS: Windows XP/Vista Qt version: 4.6.1 Using OpenSSL I need to watch the actual requests and responses that is going through the wire for QHttp requests and responses and in some cases need to interrupt the request. I tried with few of the http debuggers available in the market but they seem to work only for requests that are using the WinInet functions. Unfortunately, the openssldump utility is not present on windows platforms. Thank you.

  • What is a good platform for building a game framework targetting both web and native languages?

    - by fuzzyTew
I would like to develop (or find, if one is already in development) a framework with support for accelerated graphics and sound built on a system flexible enough to compile to the following: native ppc/x86/x86_64/arm binaries or a language which compiles to them javascript actionscript bytecode or a language which compiles to it (actionscript 3, haxe) optionally java I imagine, for example, creating an API where I can open windows and make OpenGL-like calls and the framework maps this in a relatively efficient manner to either WebGL with a canvas object, 3d graphics in Flash, OpenGL ES 2 with EGL, or desktop OpenGL in an X11, Windows, or Cocoa window. I have so far looked into these avenues: Building the game library in haXe Pros: Targets exist for php, javascript, actionscript bytecode, c++ High level, object oriented language Cons: No support for finally{} blocks or destructors, making resource cleanup difficult C++ target does not allow room for producing highly optimized libraries -- the foreign function interface requires all primitive types be boxed in a wrapper object, as if writing bindings for a scripting language; these feel unideal for real-time graphics and audio, especially exporting low-level functions. Doesn't seem quite yet mature Using the C preprocessor to create a translator, writing programs entirely with macros Pros: CPP is widespread and simple to use Cons: This is an arduous task and probably the wrong tool for the job CPP implementations differ widely in support for features (e.g. xcode cpp has no variadic macros despite claiming C99 compliance) There is little-to-no room for optimization in this route Using llvm's support for multiple backends to target c/c++ to web languages Pros: Can code in c/c++ LLVM is a very mature highly optimizing compiler performing e.g. global inlining Targets exist for actionscript (alchemy) and javascript (emscripten) Cons: Actionscript target is closed source, unmaintained, and buggy. Javascript targets do not use features of HTML5 for appropriate optimization (e.g. linear memory with typed arrays) and are immature An LLVM target must convert from low-level bytecode, so high-level constructs are lost and bloated unreadable code is created from translating individual instructions, which may be more difficult for an unprepared JIT to optimize. "jump" instructions cause problems for languages with no "goto" statements. Using libclang to write a translator from C/C++ to web languages Pros: A beautiful parsing library providing easy access to the code structure Can code in C/C++ Has sponsored developer effort from Apple Cons: Incomplete; current feature set targets IDEs. Basic operators are unexposed and must be manually parsed from the returned AST element to be identified. Translating code prior to compilation may forgo optimizations assumed in c/c++ such as inlining. Creating new code generators for clang to translate into web languages Pros: Can code in C/C++ as libclang Cons: There is no API; code structure is unstable A much larger job than using libclang; the innards of clang are complex Building the game library in Common Lisp Pros: Flexible, ancient, well-developed language Extensive introspection should ease writing translators Translators exist for at least javascript Cons: Unfamiliar language No standardized library functions, widely varying implementations Which of these avenues should I pursue? Do you know of any others, or any systems that might be useful? Does a general project like this exist somewhere already? Thank you for any input.

  • Tools, scripts for working with MS SQL 2008

    - by hgulyan
Hi, While working with DB, I find useful using some tools, that help me to solve DB problems. Some of them are: 1) Insert generator 2) A tool that can execute a script on a list of DB's 3) Finding a text in stored procedures and functions. 4) DB Back up scripts My question is, what are most useful tools, scripts(anything else), that help you to work with MS SQL? Thanks in advance.

  • is versus as pl/sql

    - by sqlgrasshopper5
I thought that oracle treats both "is" and "as" same for functions and procedures.I tried googling with "pl/sql is vs as" and got the following link which says both are the same. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2338408/is-vs-as-keywords-for-pl-sql-oracle-function-or-procedure-creation But I found http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/plsql/coll/declaration.html#index_by which seems to indicate there is a difference. Could somebody (list/point me to a link) the other contexts where using "is/as" makes a difference?. Thanks.
