  • How can I set an intent's class from a string value?

    - by twaxwei
I am trying to set the class for an intent to the address listed in a string value, so that I can launch a given activity. The string is composed dynamically during runtime. Is there anyway to make something like the code below run: String target=com.test.activity1.class; Intent intent=new intent(); intent.setClass(this, target); Thanks

  • What is a .NET application domain?

    - by Luke
In particular, what are the implications of running code in two different application domains? How is data normally passed across the application domain boundary? Is it the same as passing data across the process boundary? I'm curious to know more about this abstraction and what it is useful for. EDIT: Good existing coverage of the AppDomain class in general at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/622516/i-dont-understand-appdomains

  • Usercontrol and Border Style

    - by Ram
Hi, I have created a user control ( custom data grid view control). I have used the code specified at MSDN [site][1] [1]: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316574 to set the border style . I am able to see the selected border style in designer. Like None, FixedSingle or Fixed3D. But when I set the border style to FixedSingle, the border does not appear at runtime. Do I need to draw it manually in the OnPaint method?

  • How can I programmatically change my windows domain password?

    - by Deestan
In other words, how to change my password without going through the "CTRL-ALT-DEL - Change Password" interface. By programmatically I mean via a command-line tool, C# via a .NET library, COM-invocation via Python, ... whatever doesn't involve any manual steps, really. The "NET USER" command is ineligible, as it requires me to run with domain administrator privileges.

  • Using rowDiffs() to calculate difference in values in matrix

    - by user1723765
I'm using the rowDiffs() command to calculate the step by step difference in 116 rows in a matrix. I get the following error: Error in r[i1] - r[-length(r):-(length(r) - lag + 1L)] : non-numeric argument to binary operator I have no idea why this is happening. I could take the diff() separately for each row and it would work. Any ideas? Here's the data: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22681355/data.csv Code: a=rowDiffs(data)

  • How to check if internet connection is present in java?

    - by Chris
How do you check if you can connect to the internet via java? One way would be: final URL url = new URL("http://www.google.com"); final URLConnection conn = url.openConnection(); ... if we got here, we should have net ... But is there something more appropriate to perform that task, especially if you need to do consecutive checks very often and a loss of internet connection is highly probable?

  • Take user input and write to file from javascript inside a pdf?

    - by dazedandconfused
Is it possible to have a pdf file that asks a user a set of questions and then writes their answers to a file, then next time it is viewed loads those answers as default values? I know pdfs can include javascript and have figured out how to add javascript to a pdf with iText (http://itextpdf.com/) but don't know how to prompt for user input or write to a file from inside the pdf. Any help would be appreciated.

  • PHP send batch email [closed]

    - by qalbiol
Possible Duplicate: Sending mass email using PHP I have a PHP script that sends an individual email to all users in my DB, such as a monthly / weekly newsletter. The code I am using goes as follows: $subject = $_POST['subject']; $message = $_POST['message']; // Get all the mailing list subscribers. $query = $db->prepare("SELECT * FROM maildb"); $query->execute(); // Loop through all susbcribers, and send and individual email. foreach ($query as $row) { // Setting maximum time limit to infinite. set_time_limit(0); $newMessage = '<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> </head> <body>'; // Search for the [unsubscribe] tag and replace it with a URL for the user to unsubscribe $newMessage .= str_replace("[unsubscribe]", "<a href='".BASE_URL."unsubscribe/".$row['hash']."/".$row['email']."'>unsubscribe</a>", $message); $newMessage .= '</body></html>'; $to = $row['email']; // Establish content headers $headers = "From: info@domain.com"."\n"; $headers .= "Reply-To: bounce@domain.com"."\n"; $headers .= "X-Mailer: PHP v.". phpversion()."\n"; $headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0"."\n"; $headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"."\n"; $headers .= "Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit;"; mail($to, $subject, $newMessage, $headers); // Send email to each individual user } This code works perfectly with a REALLY small database... I recently populated my test db with 200k+ users, and obviously this script fails, gets out of memory, and dies... I know this is a bad way to send so many emails, thats why I'd like to ask you for much more efficient ways to do this! Thank you very much!

  • What smartphones to target for a modern b2c app?

    - by Fabian
We want to build a smartphone app which uses geolocation, etc. and target the most important smartphones. Which OS would you support for a b2c application? I found a german statistic here: http://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/150842/umfrage/prognostizierte-marktanteile-der-smartphone-betriebssysteme-in-2013/ which forecasts the smartphone usage for 2013. To summarize it lists the following OS, ordered by priority: Symbian, Android, Blackberry (RIM), Windows Mobile, iPhone Would you agree with this priority or should we start with the classical: iPhone/Android combo?

  • Strange issue with cout

    - by ben
After reading from a text file, and storing it into a string, I tried to pass this message into another function that will print it out. This is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/MCjfRdp void insert (int id, string message){ cout << "Inserting " << message << " at" << endl; } Somehow the message behind the string overrides the message. But once I removed the " at" after message, it worked as expected. http://imgur.com/JdHPPmi void insert (int id, string message){ cout << "Inserting " << message << endl; } I somehow suspect the problem came from stringstream, but i couldn't find out where. Here's the code that read from file vector <string> line; fstream infile; string readLine, tempLine, action, tempLine1; int level, no; infile.open(fileName.c_str(),ios::in); int i = 0; while (!infile.eof()) { getline (infile, readLine); line.push_back(readLine); } infile.close(); line.pop_back(); for (int i = 0; i < line.size();i++) { stringstream ss (line.at(i)); getline (ss, action, ' '); if (action == "init") { // some other work here } else if (action == "insert") { tempLine = line.at(i); ss >> no; stringstream iline(tempLine); getline (iline, tempLine1, ' '); getline (iline, tempLine1, ' '); getline (iline, tempLine1, '\n'); Insert (no, tempLine1); } Since my file has different kinds of actions, here is what test.dat contains: insert 0 THIS IS A TEST edit: When i did file.txt, it came out as something like this. Inserting THIS IS A TEST at Inserting THIS IS TEST NO 2 at
