Firefox and Thunderbird work as expected, apart that with Thunderbird now when I click on a url inside a message text nothing happens, while before the browser window was loaded and the url page opened.   Hi I'm using a particular web app which for some strange reason runs only in IE and not in Firefox. I need to see which URLs are being fetched by internal components in the web app, such as AJAX requests and video sources being loaded in a video player. In Firefox I would have used Firebug... is there any tool I can use to see (not necessarily in real time or with a nice GUI) which URLs were requested by IE? Thanks

• Selenium RC 403 Error - Forbidden for proxy

  I'm trying to run Selenium RC 1.0.3 using Java 6, JUnit 4, and Eclipse on Snow Leopard. • Console.log in IE on an object just outputted [object Object]

  All, I'm used to debugging JavaScript in Chrome or Firefox just because their built in developer tools are a lot cleaner than IE's. IE8 came along way with the Developer Tools being more polished, but they're still not completely up to snuff. I like being able to step through code as if I was in Visual Studio, and that is pretty nice about IE, however, when trying to do a simple console.log on an object that I have, in Firefox/Chrome/etc. I can actually explore that object. In IE, the console is simply outputting the following: LOG: [object Object] Is there any way to drill down into that object in IE like in Chrome/Firefox/etc.? Thanks all! -Steve

  Hello, I can't make python bindings for webdriver workable. Here is tutorial for installing. easy_install webdriver Won't find webdriver package so I have to install it manually from sources. • Selenium Grid not always using all of its registered RC's, why?

  My Selenium Grid setup is as follows (all VMs) VM1 - Windows 7 x64 - Grid Hub + 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment VM2 - Windows XP x32 - 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment VM3 - Windows XP x32 - 2 RCs registering the default *firefox environment I'm happily using Mbunit and Gallio to drive the Grid, but my problem is that sometimes the Grid hub will stop passing executions over to 1 or more of the RCs, despite their showing available on the hub console. They seem to be happily maintaining their heartbeat back to the hub, but they're never asked to do any more work. This is after they had been executing tests earlier in the test run. Does anybody have any ideas why this should happen? In every case I've observed this behaviour, the last test an RC executed, before it then seemingly gets ignored by the hub, passed, and the session was successfully closed. Interestingly, whenever it happens to more than 1 of the RCs, its always (so far) been the pair that are running on the same VM. Yet they're managing to maintain their heartbeat, so it isn't a network connectivity problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• How to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

  I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill? UPDATE: autofill works in Safari on initial page load, but not when user logs out and the login form is recreated without a page reload. In Firefox it never works.

• selenium RC doesnt run the whole test suite

  I'm trying to run an html testSuite with Selenium RC. The browser starts, the first test runs, and it stops. It doesnt continue to the second test case. I named both the test cases with .html extension. IAm using Firefox. If i run them manually , individually from the selenium RC test runner window they run ok. what am i missing, this seems pretty simple but yet iam not able to get this working. • Server crash = How does a TCP/IP (and the browser-client) behave after this?

  Hello Experts, i would be thankfull for an explanation what happens with HTTP(TCP/IP) transmissions when the server crashes unexpectedly, how does the client Browser (Firefox / IE) handle this event. What happens in the following two standard cases: Clients-actively sends data: The TCP/IP Connection has been estableshed and the Client (Web-Browser) is Sending a POST Request with some data and in the middle of the process of sending the server crashes. What does this mean for the client? As far as I know TCP/IP does not "acknowledge" a send data-package so the client does not know that the server crashed. How will the client behave? (Firefox and Internet Explorer)? The Server is actively sending data: As above the tcp/ip connection has been established and the Server is sending a large website to the client (browser). In the middle of the sending-process the server crashes, so no futher packets are sent. How does the client browser react to this event (Firefox and Interne Expolrer) Thank you very much!! Jens

• Wrong bbox or descent with @font-face and opentype font

  Hey all, I embedded a opentype font with @font-face. Works fine, but the bbox or descent (or baseline/descent line?) is wrong on certain browsers/OSs. The problem is e.g. on a Mac the bbox is not right, that means to center the text in it's bbox I have to set a padding to the paragraph. I guess the font was created on Windows and was not tested on Linux and OS X, and the font rendering engines in these OSs work diffrently. Any idea how to solve withs problem?   I have the following (bash) shell script, that I would ideally use to kill multiple processes by name. #!/bin/bash kill `ps -A | grep $* | awk '{ print $1 }'` However, while this script works is one argument is passed: end chrome (the name of the script is end) it does not work if more than one argument is passed: $end chrome firefox grep: firefox: No such file or directory What is going on here? I thought the $* passes multiple arguments to the shell script in sequence. I'm not mistyping anything in my input - and I the programs I want to kill (chrome and firefox) are open. Any help is appreciated.

  Drag-and-drop file uploading can be done in Firefox 3.6 by using FileReader: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2121018/native-drag-drop-file-upload-in-firefox-3-6 However, Google recently released an update for Gmail that allowed drag-and-drop file uploading in Chromium as well as Firefox, and Chromium does not have FileReader. I'm using the latest Chromium nightly, and it can drag-drop upload files, while not supporting FileReader. I've seen someone mention that drag-drop uploading can be possible by dragging onto an <input type="file" />, but that can only support one file at a time, while Gmail's uploader can handle multiple files being dragged onto it, so that's clearly not what they're doing. So the question is, how do they do it? How do you support Chromium for HTML5 file uploading?

• Strange Google Maps v3 geocode behavior when a quote is in the address

  See my test page. When on the page, click the top left button "Geocode". If you are in Firefox, geocoder.geocode() will have it's status equal to ERROR (and pop an alert after a few seconds). In Internet Explorer (at least 7), everything is fine and the marker is added to the map. If you remove the quote from the address (l'Assomption -- lAssomption), everything execute fine in Firefox. Now with my question: how a quote can "crash" the Google Maps V3 API only in Firefox!?

• Cross-Browser jQuery text-zoom implementation

  I've got some code to increase/decrease font size. This is giving me a headache because each browser seems to implement the $.css('font-size') differently (see jquery bug). The part that's really killing me, though, is that Firefox is scaling up okay, but when I use the scale down function below, it scales up. Webkit & IE are both working as expected. Any ideas on that? I put this in a fiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/srQ3P/1/ where you can see it working as expected, and you can see it broken in firefox at the project page: http://cumberlandme.info/residents MAJOR EDIT Sorry, the issue is not the code, it's firefox buggy behavior. • Chrome SSL Security Issue under Windows systems?

  The Fortify.net website allows you to check what SSL Encryption key is used by your browser. I gave it a try with the browsers I've on my machine and these are the results Fedora 9 Firefox 3.0.8 = AES cipher, 256-bit key Chrome 4.0.249.30 = AES cipher, 256-bit key Windows XP SP3 IE 6.0.2x = RC4 cipher, 128-bit key Firefox = AES cipher, 256-bit key Chrome 4.1.249.1042 (42199) = RC4 cipher, 128-bit key .... WHAT!!?!! Chrome is using RC4 128-bit (as IE6 does) that is well known as been very weak! Chrome under Unix works fine... I'm wondering how is this possible? Do you have this issue or is there a way to change the default key to be AES 256bit? I'm using Chrome as the main browser under Windows and I'm really considering to switch back to Firefox

  I am trying to write a JavaScript script that is "overlayed" on top of a Facebook page. It uses DOMContentLoaded to detect when content is loaded, then adds some extra stuff in. However, because Facebook doesn't actually "reload" the page when going to a new page (it just uses AJAX), the DOMContentLoaded handler doesn't run again, even though there is new stuff to look through. Anyway, to detect the change, I thought about using onhashchange since Facebook used to change the page's hash, but in Firefox 4 (I need to support Firefox 3 and later with this, but no other browsers), Facebook doesn't change the hash anymore and in pre-Firefox 3.6 there is no onhashchange. I thought about using DOMNodeInserted, but would that really slow down the page? (I really can't have any slowdowns in this script.)

  I have a website at bgflirt.com that appears differently in FireFox and Chrome. This is how it looks in firefox: and here's how it looks in chrome: As you can see, in chrome (and safari) the page is not stretched to fit the entire screen. I'm using this code for positioning the div containing the flash on the right: <div style="width: 200px; position: absolute; right: 0px; top: 10px; overflow: hidden;"> </div> The page should look the way it does in firefox, in all browsers. Any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated !
