• How to mount an ISO (or NRG) image and rip it as if it were a physical CD?

  I have an ISO (created from an NRG with nrg2iso) backup of a beloved game from my youth: Dark Reign: Rise of the Shadowhand (1998). I with to relive those better times by listening to game's soundtrack. Is there a way for me to mount said ISO in such a way that I can rip the audio tracks into mp3 files? I ask because although I can successfully mount the ISO, ripit / abcde report no cd inserted. How I mounted the ISO: sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop iso.iso /media/ISO Alternatively is there another way to recover audio from ISO / NRG images? Update: I was able to mount the NRG version of my backup in a way that ripit recognized using gCDEmu. ripit failed to rip, however, barfing on the first track - which is most definitely a data track. Is there a way to make ripit ignore the first track?

• How to mount nexus 7 file system to view files from command line

  Just got a Nexus 7, switched MTP on and plugged it in. It pops right up in nautilus, is titled Nexus 7, and lets me browse all of the files. However, on the command line, it's simply listed as /media/usbdrive and when I try to list the files, nothing comes up. Do I have to manually mount it in order to navigate the files from the command line? And why is it that nautilus recognizes it, and has access immediately, but I can't get at it from the command line?

• What is the best solution for document archiving?

  I'm looking for a utility that helps me (and my colleagues) to archive documents in a systematic manner (Like Zeitgeist but permanent). The utility have to clean-out old document from desktops and store them on a server (as automatic as possible and consistent) maybe from just a few locations (Document directory) Documents shall be stored on cheap large media for many years to come - hard disk and file system maybe? Easy to maintain and manage for a small organization. Documents have to be easy to find and restore One systematic manner could be a directory-structure by year, month, user or user, year, month. Its a plus if documents could be linked to a project, if documents could be search-able and if document could also be mail, IM-discussions not only OpenOffice traditional documents. Any ideas?

• News Portal CMS

  I am looking for a specific news portal CMS. I know all the major "general" CMS (like WordPress, Drupal or Joomla) and even the less known ones (like TYPO3, Expression Engine, Text Pattern or Concrete5). I'm already working with a Drupal distribution called OpenPublish and another WordPress installation to determine which would be better, but these are more of a Plan B. I would like to work directly with a CMS that was build exactly for this kind of tasks specific to a news / media portal. It doesn't matter if the CMS is commercial (however, I don't want to pay a monthly fee) or free, but I need to be able to use it on my own server / hosting and I need to be able to access it's source code (not to modify it, but to integrate it with future plugins / modules). If you know any CMS that qualifies for this job, please let me know. In the last few days I was all over Google but I couldn't anything worth mentioning.

• Can't boot Ubuntu after install Ubuntu

  I have downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 32 bit, burnt it on DVD and tried to install on my PC. My PC running in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit mounted on C: drive. Now I want install Ubuntu along with my Windows 7. When I boot Ubuntu through CD, It boots and Ubuntu install window opens. Ask "Try Ubuntu" and "Install Ubuntu". I go on "Install Ubuntu". Then I go on install Ubuntu with Windows (First Option) - install. It shows some blank screen with some lines, and shows "Please Remove installation media and close tray and press enter". Then PC restarts and Run Windows 7 same as before normally. But Ubuntu is not installed. How to solve this problem and install Ubuntu on my PC properly? Note: I am a Android Developer. So I need to install Ubuntu for my Android Development purpose.

• How can I prevent ubuntu from mounting particular partitions/deivices?

  I would like to stop Ubuntu from mounting my other (Windows') partitions automatically (since I do not need it really often - and especially I would like not to automount "System reserved" partition for Windows. There is a similar question here How can I stop Ubuntu 12.04 from mounting Fedora 16's Swap Partition? but! I do not have these partitions added in /etc/fstab. How can I do it ? • Command line method to find disk usage of camera mounted using gvfs

  When my camera was mounted on /media I could use the standard tools (df) to see the disk usage of the card in my camera. However now the camera is mounted using gvfs, and df seems to ignore it. I've also tried pydf and discus to no avail. The camera is definitely available through nautilus, and when I select the camera in nautlius, the status bar tells me the amount of disk free. I can also open the ~/.gvfs/ folder in nautilus and right click on the camera folder and get the disk usage in a graphical way. But that is no use for a script. Are there command line tools that are the equivalent of df for gvfs filesystems? Or even better, a way to make df report on gvfs filesystems?

• Can't make the Multimedia keys work in LXDE

  I've tried to edit the configuration file in ~/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml however the changes don't take effect, i still can't use the keys. The LXDE wiki shows that after finding that my keyboard sends the correct standardized keyboard events i should go and edit the file to my liking, the keyboard does send the correct events and the keys are properly identified yet nothing happens. Since LXDE doesn't come with a sound preferences option i have installed xfce4-mixer. I too have a netbook running Lubuntu and it's media keys are working fine, i don't know if what i installed has had something to do here?. I also installed xfce4-volumed volume keys daemon from synaptic but to no avail, still nothing. How can i make the multimedia keys of my keyboard work in LXDE with xfce4-mixer Edit: Here is my lxde-rc.xml file

  Does somebody know, how this is supposed to be implemented correctly? In my local business full page, I have a carousel with several images, so what I did is that on the container of this carousel i have written the following: "itemprop='photos' itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageObject"", i.e. <div class="tourism-product-media-gallery" itemprop='photos' itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageObject"> and then on each and every image i have written the following: "itemprop="contentURL"", i.e. <img src="@mediaItem.NormalImage" alt="@mediaItemCaption" itemprop="contentURL"/> But i am not convinced that this is the way it should be. • Mounting Samsung Galaxy S2 via USB on Ubuntu 13.04

  Connecting my Samsung Galaxy S2 to Windows 7 worked seamlessly. Now that I'm on Ubuntu 13.04 I'd like to access my phone's drive via the USB cable, but that's not working. When I do plug it in I get a error message in Ubuntu: Unable to mount SAMSUNG_Android Unable to open MTP device '[usb:002,008]' Then when I unplug it I see a error message on the phone: Attention Unable to find software on your PC that can recognize your device. Service pack 3, Windows Media Player, version 10 or higher, for Windows XP or Android FIle Transfer for Mac OS must be installed. You can download and install PC Kies from http://www.samsung.com/kies in order to sync data with your device, back up data, and upgrade your device (Windows and Mac OS are supported) What can I do here to fix this? I don't want to use any special software with the phone, just access the phone's drive.

  So it’s been a really long time since I consistently blogged on my previous ASP.NET blog (and, let’s be honest, it wasn’t that consistent to begin with!)  With the mainstream use of microblogging sites like Facebook and Twitter, I’ve been able to post more frequent updates (http://www.facebook.com/scott.vanvliet & http://twitter.com/scottvanvliet) but haven’t really authored any good content lately. Well, I decided it’s time for me to try again! I’ve relocated my blog from the ASP.NET weblogs site to my new home here at http://geekswithblogs.net (thanks @jjulian and @jalexander!)  I hope to be posting musings on here about Silverlight, motion graphics, digital media, digital supply chain, and even personal/fun stuff. • How do I mount this HDD?

  I have a Windows HDD attached to an external docking bay on my Ubuntu System, but the HDD brings up an error message: Mounting exited with exit code 14:windows is hibernated, refused to mount. Failed to mount '/dev/sde2':Operation not permitted. The NTFS partition is hibernated. Please resume and shutdown windows properly or mount the volume read-only with the 'ro' mount option, or mount the volume read-write with the 'remove_hiberfile' mount option. For example type in command line: mount -t ntfs-3g-o remove_hiberfile/dev/sde2/media/FE46D60C46D5C615 I am at a loss for exactly how to remove the hiberfile, or even mount it as read-only or read-write. I tried directly copy and pasting that exact command into my terminal, but it said: mount:only root can do that I do not know what to do at this point. I do need to get the information off of this drive, but I do not have a computer to put it in. Does anyone know what I should do from here?
