  • Sum and average over null values SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services

    - by Jonathan
I have a simple problem, I think, but I have googled and can't find the solution. I have a cube that has MeasureA, MeasureB and MeasureC. Not all three measures have values for each record, sometimes they can be null, it's depending if it was applicable. Now for my totals, I need to average but the average must not take nulls into account. Any help will be much appreciated. When I view the measures, the null values show as zeros.

  • Get recursive data with sql server

    - by user228777
I am trying to get recursive data. Following code returns all parents on the top and then the children. I would like to get data Parent 1 – his children then parent 2 - his children then parent3 – his children. How do I do this? USE Subscriber GO WITH Parent (ParentId, Id, Name, subscriberID) AS ( -- Anchor member definition SELECT A.ParentId,A.id, A.name,A.SubscriberId FROM Subscriber.Budget.SubscriberCategory AS A WHERE ParentId IS NULL UNION ALL -- Recursive member definition SELECT B.ParentId, B.id, B.name,B.SubscriberId FROM Subscriber.Budget.SubscriberCategory AS B INNER JOIN Parent AS P ON B.ParentId = P.Id ) -- Statement that executes the CTE SELECT parentId, id, name FROM Parent where subscriberID = '1C18093B-5031-42E4-9251-CEF69114365F' GO

  • Sql Server Development Server and Live

    - by Chris
I have a database project that goes through iterations (only one so far) and I need to deploy a testing version to a live server. I'm not sure how to go about this. I can make all the changes in a copy and then remake those changes in the live version. That doesn't make sense. Is there a way to change a server name to an existing server? What's the best practice for this scenario?

  • Dynamically changing databases in SQL Server 2000

    - by spuppett
At work we have a number of databases that we need to do the same operations on. I would like to write 1 SP that would loop over operations and set the database at the beginning of the loop (example to follow). I've tried sp_executesql('USE ' + @db_id) but that only sets the DB for the scope of that stored procedure. I don't really want to loop with hard coded database names because we need to do similar things in many different places and it's tough to remember where things need to change if we add another DB. Any thoughts Example: DECLARE zdb_loop CURSOR FAST_FORWARD FOR SELECT distinct db_id from DBS order by db_id OPEN zdb_loop FETCH NEXT FROM zdb_loop INTO @db_id WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0 BEGIN USE @db_id --Do stuff against 3 or 4 different DBs FETCH NEXT FROM zdb_loop INTO @db_id END CLOSE zdb_loop DEALLOCATE zdb_loop

  • howto create a new Date() in Javascript from a non-standard date format

    - by Michel
hi, i have a date in this format : dd.mm.yyyy when i instantiate a javascript date with it, it gives me a NaN in c# i can specify a dateformat, to say: here you have my string, it's in this format, please make a Datetime of it. is this possible in javascript too, and if not, is there an easy way? i would prefer not to use a substring for day, substring for month etc. because my method must also be capable of german, italian, english etc dates.

  • T-SQL 2005 - Divide by zero error encountered

    - by Grant
Hi, I am trying to get some percentage data from a stored procedure using code similar to the line below. Obviously this is going to cause a (Divide by zero error encountered) problem when base.[XXX_DataSetB] returns 0 which may happen some of the time. Does anyone know how i can deal with this in the most efficient manner? Note: There would be about 20+ lines looking like the one below... cast((base.[XXX_DataSetB] - base.[XXX_DataSetA]) as decimal) / base.[XXX_DataSetB] as [XXX_Percentage]

  • SQL - when should you use "with (nolock)"

    - by Andy White
Can someone explain the implications of using "with (nolock)" on queries, when you should/shouldn't use it? For example, if you have a banking application with high transaction rates and a lot of data in certain tables, in what types of queries would nolock be okay? Are there cases when you should always use it/never use it?

  • SQL - Break a start/end time into 15 minute records

    - by Chu
I've got a record set that consists of a start and end time in two separate fields: id - Int startTime - DateTime endTime - DateTime I'd like to find a way to query a record and return it as X records based on the number of 15 minute intervals found between the start and end times. For example, let's say I have a record like this: id, StartTime, EndTime 1, 1/1/2010 8:28 AM, 1/1/2010 8:47 AM I would return 3 records, the first would represent the 8:15 interval, #2 for the 8:30 interval and then a 3rd for the 8:45 interval. I realize this could be done using logic in an sproc, but we are trying to remain db neutral as we support multiple database engines.

  • An aggregate may not appear in the WHERE clause unless it is in a subquery contained in a HAVING cla

    - by brz dot net
I have to find the indentid from the status table based on below two conditions: 1. If there are more than one record having same indentid in status table and the same indentID has count1 in feasibilitystatus table then I don't want to display the record. 2. If there is only one record of indentid in status table and the same indentID has count0 in feasibilitystatus table then I don't want to display the record. Query: select distinct s.indentid from status s where s.status='true' and s.indentid not in(select case when count(s.indentid)>1 then (select indentid from feasibilitystatus group by indentid having count(indentid)>1) else (select indentid from feasibilitystatus group by indentid having count(indentid)>0) end as indentid from status) Error: An aggregate may not appear in the WHERE clause unless it is in a subquery contained in a HAVING clause or a select list, and the column being aggregated is an outer reference.

  • SQL Server: compare columns in two tables.

    - by maxt3r
Hi, I've recently done a migration from a really old version of some application to the current version and i faced some problems while migrating databases. I need a query that could help me to compare columns in two tables. I mean not the data in rows, I need to compare the columns itself to figure out, what changes in table structure I've missed.

  • T-SQL Specific Syntax problem (Simple no doubt)

    - by Yoda
Hi guys, I have an issue with a query I'm trying to run on some data, I guess the place to start is to describe the data. Ok so I have a list of email addresses, each email address has a unique ID and an account ID Also in my tables I have a set number which auto incrememnts, this will allow me to target duplicate email addresses What I need to do is something like this. Insert into duplicates (EMAIL,ACCOUNTID,ID) SELECT Email,AccountID,ID FROM EmailAddresses Group by Email,AccountID Having Count(email)>1 Order by AccountID, Email So essentially I want to select all duplicate email addresses and insert them (and their relative fields) into a new table broken down by accountID so I can run some further querys on it. I have been battling with this for way too long and could just use a fresh perspective. Cheers in advance

  • SQL SERVER Spatial Data

    - by Sam
Hi All, I am struggeling finding an effectient way to find a distance between a Point that interetcts a polygon and the border of that polygon. I was able to use the STDistance comparing the point to every point that made up the polygon but that is taking a lot of time. Using SPatial indexed wasnt much helpful because the STDistance is not part of any constraint and even when I did put the constraint, the index didnt help much. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

  • How to limit results by SUM

    - by superspace
    I have a table of events called event. For the purpose of this question it only has one field called date. The following query returns me a number of events that are happening on each date for the next 14 days: SELECT DATE_FORMAT( ev.date, '%Y-%m-%d' ) as short_date, count(*) as date_count FROM event ev WHERE ev.date >= NOW() GROUP BY short_date ORDER BY ev.start_date ASC LIMIT 14 The result could be as follows: +------------+------------+ | short_date | date_count | +------------+------------+ | 2010-03-14 | 1 | | 2010-03-15 | 2 | | 2010-03-16 | 9 | | 2010-03-17 | 8 | | 2010-03-18 | 11 | | 2010-03-19 | 14 | | 2010-03-20 | 13 | | 2010-03-21 | 7 | | 2010-03-22 | 2 | | 2010-03-23 | 3 | | 2010-03-24 | 3 | | 2010-03-25 | 6 | | 2010-03-26 | 23 | | 2010-03-27 | 14 | +------------+------------+ 14 rows in set (0.06 sec) Let's say I want to dislay these events by date. At the same time I only want to display a maximum of 10 at a time. How would I do this? Somehow I need to limit this result by the SUM of the date_count field but I do not know how. Anybody run into this problem before? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Basic SQL Query, I am newbie

    - by user3530547
I just started my database and query class on Monday. We met on Monday and just went over the syllabus, and on Wednesday the network at school was down so we couldn't even do the power point lecture. Right now I am working on my first homework assignment and I am almost finished but I am having trouble on one question. Here is is... Write a SELECT statement that returns one column from the Customers table named FullName that joins the LastName and FirstName columns. Format the columns with the last name, a comma, a space, and the first name like this: Doe, John Sort the result set by last name in ascending sequence. Return only the contacts whose last name begins with letters from M to Z. Here is what I have so far... USE md0577283 SELECT FirstName,LastName FROM Customers ORDER BY LastName,FirstName My question is how do I format is Lastname, FirstName like the professor wants and how do I only select names M-Z? If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. PS With all do respect, I didn't ask for the answer I asked for a nudge in the right direction so why the down vote guys?
