  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 11gR2 Windows-ra is

    - by Fekete Zoltán

  • What's So Smart About Oracle Exadata Smart Flash Cache?

    - by kimberly.billings
    Want to know what's so "smart" about Oracle Exadata Smart Flash Cache? This three minute video explains how Oracle Exadata Smart Flash Cache helps solve the random I/O bottleneck challenge and delivers extreme performance for consolidated database applications. Exadata Smart Flash Cache is a feature of the Sun Oracle Database Machine. With it, you get ten times faster I/O response time and use ten times fewer disks for business applications from Oracle and third-party providers. Read the whitepaper for more information. var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); try { var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-13185312-1"); pageTracker._trackPageview(); } catch(err) {}

  • 3rd party data - Store in Data Warehouse or Primary database?

    - by brydgesk
    This is mostly a data warehouse philosophy question. My project involves an Oracle forms application, and a Teradata Data Warehouse for reporting and ad-hoc purposes. In addition to the primary data created by the users of our application, we also require data from various other sources. Currently, this 3rd party data comes via FTPd flat files directly to our Data Warehouse. To access the data, our users must use a series of custom BusinessObjects reports. My question is, would it make more sense for this data to be sent to our source Oracle system instead? Is it ever appropriate for a Data Warehouse to be the point of origin for users to access raw data? In short, is it more important that the operational database contain only the data created by your project, or that the data warehouse remain dedicated solely to reporting and analysis?

  • Increase application performance

    - by Prayos
    I'm writing a program for a company that will generate a daily report for them. All of the data that they use for this report is stored in a local SQLite database. For this report, the utilize pretty much every bit of the information in the database. So currently, when I query the datbase, I retrieve everything, and store the information in lists. Here's what I've got: using (var dataReader = _connection.Select(query)) { if (dataReader.HasRows) { while (dataReader.Read()) { _date.Add(Convert.ToDateTime(dataReader["date"])); _measured.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["measured_dist"])); _bit.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["bit_loc"])); _psi.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["pump_press"])); _time.Add(Convert.ToDateTime(dataReader["timestamp"])); _fob.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["force_on_bit"])); _torque.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["torque"])); _rpm.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["rpm"])); _pumpOneSpm.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["pump_1_strokes_pm"])); _pumpTwoSpm.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["pump_2_strokes_pm"])); _pullForce.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["pull_force"])); _gpm.Add(Convert.ToDouble(dataReader["flow"])); } } } I then utilize these lists for the calculations. Obviously, the more information that is in this database, the longer the initial query will take. I'm curious if there is a way to increase the performance of the query at all? Thanks for any and all help. EDIT One of the report rows is called Daily Drilling Hours. For this calculation, I use this method: // Retrieves the timestamps where measured depth == bit depth and PSI >= 50 public double CalculateDailyProjectDrillingHours(DateTime date) { var dailyTimeStamps = _time.Where((t, i) => _date[i].Equals(date) && _measured[i].Equals(_bit[i]) && _psi[i] >= 50).ToList(); return _dailyDrillingHours = Convert.ToDouble(Math.Round(TimeCalculations(dailyTimeStamps).TotalHours, 2, MidpointRounding.AwayFromZero)); } // Checks that the interval is less than 10, then adds the interval to the total time private static TimeSpan TimeCalculations(IList<DateTime> timeStamps) { var interval = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 10); var totalTime = new TimeSpan(); TimeSpan timeDifference; for (var j = 0; j < timeStamps.Count - 1; j++) { if (timeStamps[j + 1].Subtract(timeStamps[j]) <= interval) { timeDifference = timeStamps[j + 1].Subtract(timeStamps[j]); totalTime = totalTime.Add(timeDifference); } } return totalTime; }

  • Programmers and Database Professionals in Performance Based Companies

    - by swisscheese
    Anybody here work for a company (or know of someone that does) in the fields of programming or anything related to DBs and not have set work hours? Where you are paid for performance rather than how many hours you sit in a chair at the office? Any project / company I have been apart of always has pretty strict primary hours with the "great opportunity" / expectation to stay until the job is done. Is this type of flexibility really feasible in a group environment in these fields? Would pay for performance work within a company in these fields? With having strict primary hours I notice a lot of inefficiencies. Some weeks or days there is only so much that can be done (for whatever the reason may be) and if your work is done it doesn't help moral to force someone to stay for 8 hrs/day or 40hrs/week if the next week they may have to pull a 60+hr work week. I know that a lot of flexibility can come from working independently or as a consultant so this question really does not encompass those types of positions.

  • Problem with TL-R480T+ and static routes

    Hi! I've some question about this router. Before starting, some configurations, specified by my provider. Wan1 VPN IP - 192.168.172.84 Mask - 255.255.255.0 Gateway - 192.168.172.253 DNS - 195.110.6.7 Wan2 Dynamic IP DHCP - 168.120.1.34 Mask - 255.255.255.0 Router IP 192.168.1.1 Computer IP 192.168.1.7 Routes: route -p add 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0 192.168.172.253 route -p add 195.110.6.0 mask 255.255.254.0 192.168.172.253 route -p add 88.135.112.0 mask 255.255.240.0 192.168.172.253 route -p add 178.219.160.0 mask 255.255.240.0 192.168.172.253 For first provider I need to provide a routes. 'Cause router does not support different routes for different WAN interfaces I put them in "Static routes". But when I try to save them I've got an error: Destination IP address can not be set in a same subnet with the WAN or LAN IP address. If I change IP's to local like 192.168.x.x router tell me: Gateway must be set in a same subnet with WAN or LAN IP address. Changing mask on WAN1 interface to 255.255.0.0 doesn't help. Any ideas? PS! Or maybe I'm must email to TP-Link support?

  • Serving only certain files from a directory to users on IIS7

    - by HarbingTarbl
    I'm have a need to show the most up to date version of a certain file in a directory to users who access a folder on my site (lets call this folder logs). I can't just move the file into the folder as another process relies on being able to find and edit this file while it is running. At first I had thought I could just create a folder on my site, give it the correct permissions and then create a symbolic link to the file. However it seems IIS7 does not follow symlinks. Another solution would be to create a phpscript that pulls the correct file and displays it, but that felt like over-engineering the solution. I know that on Apache this would be simple, but I can't figure out how to do it with IIS7. To give an idea of the folder structure I'm working with. The directory looks like this. Root --File I need to serve. --File containing plain text passwords. --Other folders/files. I can't move any of these files. If I just serve the entire directory using Virtual Directories in IIS I'll also be sharing files and folders containing configuration and other sensitive information.

  • Keeping an enum and a table in sync

    - by MPelletier
    I'm making a program that will post data to a database, and I've run into a pattern that I'm sure is familiar: A short table of most-likely (very strongly likely) fixed values that serve as an enum. So suppose the following table called Status: Status Id Description -------------- 0 Unprocessed 1 Pending 2 Processed 3 Error In my program I need to determine a status Id for another table, or possibly update a record with a new status Id. I could hardcode the status Id's in an enum and hope no one ever changes the database. Or I could pre-fetch the values based on the description (thus hardcoding that instead). What would be the correct approach to keep these two, enum and table, synced?

  • How do I close a database connection in a WCF service?

    - by Dan
    I have been unable to find any documentation on properly closing database connections in WCF service operations. I have a service that returns a streamed response through the following method. public virtual Message GetData() { string sqlString = BuildSqlString(); SqlConnection conn = Utils.GetConnection(); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sqlString, conn); XmlReader xr = cmd.ExecuteXmlReader(); Message msg = Message.CreateMessage( OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageVersion, GetResponseAction(), xr); return msg; } I cannot close the connection within the method or the streaming of the response message will be terminated. Since control returns to the WCF system after the completion of that method, I don't know how I can close that connection afterwards. Any suggestions or pointers to additional documentation would be appreciated. Dan

  • Problem connecting to postgres with Kohana 3 database module on OS X Snow Leopard

    - by Bart Gottschalk
    Environment: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard PHP 5.3 Kohana 3.0.4 When I try to configure and use a connection to a postgresql database on localhost I get the following error: ErrorException [ Warning ]: mysql_connect(): [2002] No such file or directory (trying to connect via unix:///var/mysql/mysql.sock) Here is the configuration of the database in /modules/database/config/database.php (note the third instance named 'pgsqltest') return array ( 'default' => array ( 'type' => 'mysql', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for MySQL: * * string hostname * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string database * * Ports and sockets may be appended to the hostname. */ 'hostname' => 'localhost', 'username' => FALSE, 'password' => FALSE, 'persistent' => FALSE, 'database' => 'kohana', ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), 'alternate' => array( 'type' => 'pdo', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for PDO: * * string dsn * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string identifier */ 'dsn' => 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=kohana', 'username' => 'root', 'password' => 'r00tdb', 'persistent' => FALSE, ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), 'pgsqltest' => array( 'type' => 'pdo', 'connection' => array( /** * The following options are available for PDO: * * string dsn * string username * string password * boolean persistent * string identifier */ 'dsn' => 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=pgsqltest', 'username' => 'postgres', 'password' => 'dev1234', 'persistent' => FALSE, ), 'table_prefix' => '', 'charset' => 'utf8', 'caching' => FALSE, 'profiling' => TRUE, ), ); And here is the code to create the database instance, create a query and execute the query: $pgsqltest_db = Database::instance('pgsqltest'); $query = DB::query(Database::SELECT, 'SELECT * FROM test')->execute(); I'm continuing to research a solution for this error but thought I'd ask to see if someone else has already found a solution. Any ideas are welcome. One other note is that I know my build of PHP can access this postgresql db since I'm able to manage the db using phpPgAdmin. But I have yet to determine what phpPgAdmin is doing differently to connect to the db than what Kohana 3 is attempting. Bart

  • SQL SERVER – New Look for CodePlexProject – Hosting for Open Source Software

    - by pinaldave
    Codeplex is my favorite site. CodePlex is Microsoft’s free open source project hosting site. You can create projects to share with the world, collaborate with others on their projects, and download open source software. It is great place to find so many open source project available to explore. All the softwares are free and open source. I often go there at intervals to check what is new in SQL Server field as well on other technologies. Yesterday when I visited it, I had nice surprise as it has total makeover and looks very decent as well elegant at the same time. I have noticed that when I talk about Codeplex is user community, not everybody knows about it. The quickest way I explain what is codeplex is that I start naming few of the projects which are available there and suddenly I start noticing a few hands going up knowing the projects. This is indirect way to prove that many of us know CodePlex usability but do not pay special attention to what it is actually. Let me name a few popular projects of the CodePlex here. SQL Server Sample Database [link] Image Resizer for Windows [link] Ajax Control Toolkit [link] Skype Voice Changer [link] Silverlight Toolkit [link] Windows 7 USB/DBD Download Tool [link] Orchard Project [link] There are very interesting SQL Server projects available on Codeplex as well. I am listing few of them here for reference in listed in no particular order. SQL Server Sample Database [link] SQL Server Compact ToolBox [link] Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server [link] Internals Viewer for SQL Server [link] SQL Server Spatial Tooks [link] SQL Monitor – managing sql server performance [link] SQL Server 2008 Extended Events SSMS Addin [link] How many of above mentioned project have you come across earlier? - by Tobbe
    I though returning false would be enough to cancel the link action, but apparently it isn't. When I click the link in the code below I do get the 'click' message, which is expected. But I also end up at google.com, which is unexpected. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Link test</title> <script> window.addEventListener('load', function () { document.getElementsByTagName('a')[0].addEventListener('click', function () { alert('click'); return false; }, false); }, false); </script> </head> <body> <a href="http://www.google.com">google</a> </body> </html> How can I make the url NOT change when clicking the link? • Specify which xml file to load when link is clicked

    - by Jason
    Good morning, I would like it so when a link is clicked on the homepage it would load a particular xml file into the next page (the page is called category-list.apsx). This category list page uses the Repeater Control method to display the xml details on the page. I used the example shown here: http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/aspnet_repeater.asp So at the moment the repeater script looks like: <script runat="server"> sub Page_Load if Not Page.IsPostBack then dim mycategories=New DataSet mycategories.ReadXml(MapPath("categories.xml")) categories.DataSource=mycategories categories.DataBind() end if end sub </script> After doing some research I did find someone with the same problem and the solution was to insert #tags as part of the link on the homepage (i.e. category-list.apsx#company1results) and then some script on the list page to pick up the correct xml file: <script type="text/javascript"> var old_onload = window.onload; // Play it safe by respecting onload handlers set by other scripts. window.onload=function() { var categories = document.location.href.substring(document.location.href.indexOf("#")+1); loadXMLDoc('XML/'+categories+'.xml'); old_onload(); } </script> This was from the following link: http://www.hotscripts.com/forums/javascript/45641-solved-specify-xml-file-load-when-click-link.html How can I get these two scripts to connect with each other? Thank you for your time
