• Can a Java portlet be embedded in an ASP.NET page?

  We have some portlets created by a team working on a JEE site. They would like to include one of these portlets within a site I manage, which is ASP.NET. Aside from solutions like iframes, is it possible to embed a Java portlet within an ASP.NET page?   I have a default.aspx page that needs to be refresh every 10 sec. My solution so far is a javascript function, but it only works in firefux and not IE. I'm looking for a way to handle the refresh mecanism in the default.aspx.cs page instead, with some sort of Timer. Any good simple sugestions/hints or solutions out there that can lead me in the right direction?

I thought of, and tried two solutions: Matching the regular expression .(jpe?g|bmp|png|gif)$ Using ends-with to check each separately But, it appears that neither of these exist in XPath 1.0, or at least, they don't exist in Firefox (I am writing a greasemonkey script, so it is only important for the path to work in Firefox).

  hopefully the question doesn't sound stupid, but there are lots of examples out there of achieving certain things in javascript/dom using jQuery. Using jQuery is not always an option (or even a want) which can make understanding the examples of javascript solutions written in jQuery hard. Is there an easy way to convert jQuery code to regular javascript? I guess without having to access or understand the jQuery source code... edit (future readers): pretend there is a logical reason why jQuery isn't available!

  I have a bit array implementation where the 0th index is the MSB of the first byte in an array, the 8th index is the MSB of the second byte, etc... What's a fast way to find the first bit that is set in this bit array? All the related solutions I have looked up find the first least significant bit, but I need the first most significant one. So, given 0x00A1, I want 9.

Basically what I'm doing is taking the output of the get request and saving it to a file but it has hundereds of break tags in it I need removed. I'm fine with running a batch or vb script after the file is saved to remove the tags but I'm not sure how on how to do that either. So far the only solutions I have seen is to remove entire lines.
