ex) Authenticate users on their desktop app from a server.
Questions about server: Do I have to use Tomcat ? Are there any other solutions ? could I even use Apache ?
hopefully the question doesn't sound stupid, but there are lots of examples out there of achieving certain things in javascript/dom using jQuery. Using jQuery is not always an option (or even a want) which can make understanding the examples of javascript solutions written in jQuery hard.
Is there an easy way to convert jQuery code to regular javascript? I guess without having to access or understand the jQuery source code...
edit (future readers): pretend there is a logical reason why jQuery isn't available!
I've been looking to make things a little more DRY, both on my personal projects (django) and at work (JSP/struts,PHP).
SASS+HAML seem to be quite popular, but, do those outside of the Ruby/Rails community generally use these as well, or do they opt for other solutions? Which do you use, and what was the reasoning behind the choice?
I made an app built it in debug mode and want to run in on another machine.
There is an error:
the application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect
What are possible solutions for that?
I need to have debug version
I am very new to WPF and I am interested in learning it. I have gone through some tutorials, but I am looking for a website or book containing projects/assignments along with solutions so that you can code and learn. As I work through a project, I'd like to be able to refer to a solution in case I get stuck somewhere.
Can someone please share any links/material if you have which can give me some WPF Projects/assignments to work on along with solution.
Thanks.
First, I can assume that all urls that end with jpeg, jpg, bmp, png or gif are images, and others aren't.
I thought of, and tried two solutions:
Matching the regular expression .(jpe?g|bmp|png|gif)$
Using ends-with to check each separately
But, it appears that neither of these exist in XPath 1.0, or at least, they don't exist in Firefox (I am writing a greasemonkey script, so it is only important for the path to work in Firefox).
A library function parses a file and returns an object. If a parser encounters unknown data, missing values etc., it shouldn't throw an exception and stop parsing (because this is not fatal), but there should be a way to pass information about these things to a caller (so that warnings can be displayed in the UI, for example). How can these warning be returned? I'm thinking of passing a callback function/object into the library, are there any other possible solutions?
My form works in firefox but not ie. I've tried using a hidden text field (fail)... I tried using an image instead of a submit button (fail)... are there any other solutions?
Hi!
I would like to create some kind of open free "group" posting of photos with geotags
First I thought about Panoramio, but seems there is no API for photos upload.
By now I can see only two ways:
Flickr - there are groups but you have to approve group membership anyway, or use tags for grouping which is bad for maintenance
Custom server solution which will cost efforts and hosting
Can you suggest other free photo services with geotags functionality, or opensource solutions?
Thank you!
Hi,
I'm looking for free tools to design the UI for my web app.
I'm pretty new to this field, so please point me to acceptable solutions.
Basically, I need to fill a "screen" with some controls, that's it.
Thanks.
EDIT: Well, as soon as nobody answers, maybe somebody can help me with this problem for some framework other than Cappuccino?
is there some way to embed pragma statement in macro with other statements?
I am trying to achieve something like:
#define DEFINE_DELETE_OBJECT(type) \
void delete_ ## type_(int handle); \
void delete_ ## type(int handle); \
#pragma weak delete_ ## type_ = delete_ ## type
I am okay with boost solutions (save for wave) if one exists.
thank you
I'd like to have a div as a canvas, where users would choose images to show, out of a list. They will choose what background it would have, icons, and they will upload an image which will appear in this canvas too.
I'm looking for solutions in PHP or ASP.NET.
thansk
I have a bit array implementation where the 0th index is the MSB of the first byte in an array, the 8th index is the MSB of the second byte, etc...
What's a fast way to find the first bit that is set in this bit array? All the related solutions I have looked up find the first least significant bit, but I need the first most significant one. So, given 0x00A1, I want 9.
Hi,
I am trying to find a way for our users to very easily upload their outlook contacts into our web application (mysql database).
I'm not sure where to begin. I've seen various tools which are pretty complex. I am open to existing third-party solutions, but my hope is that there is something which is very simple to use or build.
Thanks.
PS: Ideally, it would not involve using visual basic.
I am working with Visual Studio 2008. Actually there is References folder missing in its solution explorer. When I create a New web Application it has References folder but when I add new .aspx file it also adds .aspx.designer.cs file with it and its does not show master page option in add dialogue. but in the old web application it shows the master page option where master page file is already added. whats the difference between these two solutions.
I am developing an iPad application where i want to reduce the textsize in a segment in a UISegmentController.Please help. I also want to change the selected segment color. currently the default color we get when a segment is selected is blue. I want to change it to red. Please help me if anyone is aware of these solutions. I am trying to use a Xib file to make the segments.
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to style my select box, I assume I need some type of javascript method.
I'm using rails - and sticking with prototype/scriptactulous.
Does anyone know of any solutions?
I am using simple jQuery
$.get( .... );
Here instead of getting GET response I get OPTIONS.( checked in firebug Net)
Same code is working fine in Safari. Looks like some problem with Firefox.
Any workaround / solutions to fix this problem..
Thanks
Kurund
I'm using a get request to get some page data but need to strip the break tags from the finished file. Basically what I'm doing is taking the output of the get request and saving it to a file but it has hundereds of break tags in it I need removed. I'm fine with running a batch or vb script after the file is saved to remove the tags but I'm not sure how on how to do that either. So far the only solutions I have seen is to remove entire lines.
You can put your documents in SP - cool, but, when its time to reorganize folders structure what I should do with old links?
Is there a way how to identify document instead of using URL where path to the document is used? I need something like permanent link: http://mysharepoint/doc-123, where 123 is the document identifier.
I need URL to the document which doesn't depend on folders where the document is published. Are there solutions?
I have the following schema on MySQL 5.1
CREATE TABLE `mytest` (
`category` varchar(32) ,
`item_name` varchar(255)
KEY `key1` (`category`)
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;
category column is filled with like that
[:parent_parent_cat_id][:parent_cat_id][:leaf_cat_id]
"10000200003000"
if you can search all of the under categories :parent_parent_category_id
SELECT * FROM mytest WHERE category LIKE "10000%";
it's using index key1;
but
How to use index when I wanna search :parent_cat_id?
SELECT * FROM mytest WHERE category LIKE "%20000%";
Do you have a better solutions?
I saw some topics about this, but the problem is that the solutions required a "switch case"... Like this
I have a table with a lot of columns, is there a way to do a dynamic sort without the switch?
I need to capture whats currently shown in my app and save it as a image, is a flash app running locally, without apache, just a flash app with AS3, is it possible?
Ive seen many solutions googling but all need a webserver and this app is running as a desktop app.
Thanks in advance.

I find that most of my work involves creating shims so that different systems can communicate with each other.
Is there any software solutions that handle this. I don't want to make my own.
For example if we received a message like { a: 'abc', b: 1 } from System1, we might want to send { a: f('abc'), c: 'System1'} to System2.
Know of anything like that?
