• Catch Id (INT AUTO INCREMENT) of a Record after INSERT INTO Statement

  This is my first time I use MySQL as datastorage for my C# Application, as I've seen that there is no UNIQUEIDENTIFIER type as in SQL server I decieded to use INT with AUTO_INCREMENT, my problem is now if I execute a INSERT, how may I get the ID of the Record I just added. My quick and dirty solution has been to execute a SELECT MAX(ID) FROM table Statement. But this doesn't seem consistent. I belive there is a better solution something like mysql_insert_id() (PHP). Any Idea how to resolve this in C#?

• Why does my app not work on Android 2.3?

  Hi all, just a quick question about Android 2.3. I've been receiving reports from people using my app that it crashes on startup in Android 2.3. It works absolutely fine on the other SDK versions as far as I can tell. Since I don't have a phone running Android 2.3 I can't test out where the error is, which makes it very frustrating to deal with! Has anyone got any ideas what might have changed in Android 2.3 to mean the app crashes? Has anyone else had a similar problem? The following are ideas I've had for what might be causing it... Splash screen - on my main activity I trigger this in onCreate and it displays for 3 secs before finishing I'm using the GPS capability of Android, has this vastly changed in 2.3 to mean that something's going wrong? There's been a fundamental change in application startup in 2.3 that I'm not aware of. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

  I need to do a binomial test in Python that allows calculation for 'n' numbers of the order of 10000. I have implemented a quick binomial_test function using scipy.misc.comb, however, it is pretty much limited around n = 1000, I guess because it reaches the biggest representable number while computing factorials or the combinatorial itself. • Pros and cons of keeping metadata in image thumbnails

  I am working on optimizing site load speed for a few moderately high traffic sites. Some quick observations show that creating 40 picture thumbnails (e.g. 138x138 JPG @75% quality) results in 700 Kb total size with embedded metadata and 258 Kb with stripped metadata. Which means that roughly 60% of image size is metadata. So what would be pros and cons of removing metadata from thumbnails? Are there any regulations, e.g. you must keep author info / copyright info in the images? Any insights would be appreciated.

In other words, I need to find the object in the ArrayList with the same FileName as the one I'm searching on. • Options for header in raw byte file.

  I have a large raw data file (up to 1GB) which contains raw samples from a USB data logger. I need to store extra information relating to the file (sample rate, description, trigger point, last seek position etc) and was looking into adding this as a some sort of header. The header file should ideally be human readable and flexible so I've so far ruled out some sort of binary serialization into a header. I also want to avoid two separate files as they could end up separated when copied or backed up. I remembered somebody telling me that newer *.*x Microsoft Office documents are actually a number of files in a zip. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Could I still keep the quick seek times to the raw file?

• Getting .NET schema for a stored procedure result

  I have a couple of stored procedures in T-SQL where each stored procedure has a fixed schema for the result set. I need to map the result sets for each procedure to a POCO object and need the column name and type for each column in the result set. Is there a quick way of accessing the information? The best way I have found so far is accessing each stored procedure from .NET and writing my own extension method on a IDataReader/IDataRecord for dumping the information (column names and types) out. • Where does ASP.Net get its rendered IDs from?

  Hi, I've inherited a project with some nasty JavaScript that depends on hard coded object ids. i.e. There are lots of places where it does things like this var magazine = document.getElementById('repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0'); When the page renders in my UAT environment, the HTML looks like this, and everything works OK. <input id="repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay:_ctl3:chkCats:0" ... etc However, when I put it on my Production environment, the HTML is suddenly rending like this: <input id="repModuleDisplay_ctl03_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay$ctl03$chkCats$0" ... etc The difference in ids means that the JavaScript can't find the Element, and fails. In an ideal world, I'd scrap the buggy JavaScript and do it again properly, but for a quick fix, I'd like to know what is causing the difference in rendering between the two environments. • Why are items being placed below?

  This is really confusing and I have never had this occur. For my computer, it is fine. But for anyone else's computer I have tried, it screws up. So on my site, designatease.com , the second bar down, it places the fifth item down below the first four. I am not sure why it is doing this. • Question about finding third party website APIs.

  I have a client that works with several well established 3rd party sites to sell his product (in this case hotel rooms, but the question is more general). Every time he gets a reservation he has to go to each site and manually make changes. I've done a quick search to see if there are APIs or any developer resources for these sites but have come up with nothing. I've emailed his contacts for each site but have yet to receive a response. I don't have a lot of experience working with third party sites like this but in the past when I've looked for APIs I usually come up empty handed. Are these types of APIs rare or am I just looking in the wrong places? It seems like an obvious thing to have for a company that has an affiliate program. Any suggestions on where to look for APIs or am I at the mercy of my "contact"?

  Hi, I have been using qcodo/qcubed for developing CMS based sites. I had been successful in developing and maintaining fairly complex sites using these frameworks. Things get done so quick and easy using qcubed that i never felt the need to look for another framework like zend, symfony .... I am wondering if you guys have tried or have been using them. I have not tried zend, symfony, kohana or other frameworks of discusson on reddit. What is your opinion, is qcubed as good as these frameworks? If not can you please suggest some of the features that you find useful in other frameworks and are missing from qcubed. thanks

  Hello, now this is embarrassing. I'm writing quick script and I can't figure out why this statement don't work. if [ $(pidof -x test.sh | wc -w) -eq 1 ]; then echo Passed; fi I also tried using back-ticks instead of $() but it still wouldn't work. Can you see what is wrong with it? pidof -x test.sh | wc -w returns 1 if I run it inside of script, so I don't see any reason why basically if [ 1 -eq 1 ] wouldn't pass. Thanks a lot!

  Hello, I've recently chose Kohana for a new project I'm doing And quite frankly, it's going a bit slow due to lack of resources. I've stumbled again and again on problems that I can't find a solution to Examples are probably the hardest to come by, so I'm considering Switching, especially because I'm only starting and I am still able to do it without to much trouble. I've been looking at CodeIgniter, although I know that Kohana is a branch out, CodeIgniter has far more examples and documentation, I'm wondering about your opinion. Edit: I would love to see some complete Kohana sites example, so that I would have a really quick reference. Nothing like already-working code to give you inspiration.

• PHP Session Id changes between pages

  Hi All, I have a problem where i am losing the PHP session between 2 pages. The session_start() is included in a file called session-inc.php into every page requiring a session to be set. This works for all pages on the site except one particular page, member-profile.php. When this page is visited a new session with a different id (same session name) is set and used instead. A few more details: Session name is set manually All pages are on the same server under the same domain name If i put an additional session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file, the session is carried over correctly I have tried setting the session_cookie_domain and session.session_name in the .htaccess, this worked for this domain but it stopped the session being passed over to out payment domain We are running apache 2.2.6 with php 5.2.5 Putting the session_start() above the include('session-inc.php') in the member-profile.php file is the quick and dirty fix for this problem, but i am wondering if anybody know why this would be happening. Now in my web app project, I'd like to be able to get the User Control listed in the right-click menu just like Component and Class, so I don't have to click New Item... then choose it from there. • Fault exception trashes a register causing a crash in [NSInvocation invoke]

  I have an NSOperation which fetches some objects from a core data persistent store and sums up a few totals. Sometimes an object is deleted while the operation in in progress, so a core data fault exception occurs. I try/catch the exception while summing to ignore it because I just want to skip objects that cannot be faulted in. However, when one of these fault exceptions occurs (and I swallow it) there is a crash after the invocation returns in [NSInvocation invoke]. It's a bad memory access when dereferencing the value in r10 which according to GDB on a successful run points to one of these: (gdb) x 0x38388348 0x38388348 <OBJC_IVAR_$_NSInvocation._retdata>: 0x00000008 If a fault exception occured a value of 0x02 is in the register which causes the crash. A quick google search tells me that r10 should be saved by the callee, meaning it is not being restored by whatever code is changing it when this exception occurs. Can anybody explain this? I'm not an expert when it comes to these kinds of low-level details

  Hello all, I have mapped a network drive to a computer in my home network. Now I am trying to access it via PHP - I did this quick test: echo opendir('Z:\\'); This gives me: Warning: opendir(Z:\) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No error in C:\wamp\www\webs\tester-function.php on line 3 What have I done wrong here? I don't want my users typing in the UNC path so is there a way to get the UNC path for them and maybe that will work when I try to access it? This is possible in Microsoft languages but I am not sure how to get PHP to do this - maybe using a cmd.exe command? Please note, the mapped drive does exist as I can see it and I can access it. It also does not appear to be a permissions problem as I am assuming it would of complained about this IF it could access that drive...right? Thanks all for any help

  I receive the following error; OH-TFS-Connector-0051: Operation failed getCollectionMetaData. Server Error : TF201063: Adding a Parent link to work item 1737 would result in a circular relationship. To create this link, evaluate the existing links, and remove one of the other links in the cycle. I have completely flattened out the Work Items in the source project. When retrying the migration the timestamp is modified on the pending errors however the issues are not resolved. These Work Items now have no parents or children in the source project. So I'm wondering if the retry list is no longer valid but there doesn't appear to be a away to have it update? I can run the whole migration again, however it takes 5-7 hours to just do the work items so it would be great if there is a quick fix.
