  • TArray<Byte> VS TBytes VS PByteArray

    - by Ken Bourassa
Those 3 types are very similar... TArray is the generic version of TBytes. Both can be casted to PByteArray and used as buffer for calls to Windows API. (with the same restrictions as string to Pchar). What I would like to know: Is this behavior "by design" or "By Implementation". Or more specifically, could it break in future release?

  • Usb Driver on 64bit Windows

    - by SurDin
I have a pretty generic 64bit driver based on bulkusb.sys in WDK. It's been working for years with an embedded program, but now it is needed to work on Vista 64. From all the documentation I've tried to look through there doesn't seem to be anything affecting it, except compiling it for the 64bit environment, and yet when I compile it with the AMD64 build environment, I get "driver not intended for this platform" error message when it's trying to open the sys. What could be the solution for this?

  • Ksoap2 Error after Updating Android SDK and ADT

    - by user1291644
    I have a problem. When I updated Android SDK tool to version 17 and the ADT to 17 I can't use ksoap2 any more. I start the app and get this error: 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.pridobiDanasnjo(SplashScreen.java:124) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.alcad.pernat.praksa.SplashScreen.onCreate(SplashScreen.java:73) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2679) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2300(ActivityThread.java:125) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:2033) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4627) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) 03-25 20:13:49.995: E/AndroidRuntime(555): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) I should get String with some numbers but instead I get this error. • Calling "Base-Getter" in Overriding Getter of Property

    - by scherand
I have a base class "Parent" like this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Parent { private int parentVirtualInt = -1; public virtual int VirtualProperty { get { return parentVirtualInt; } set { if(parentVirtualInt != value) { parentVirtualInt = value; } } } } } and a child class like this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Child : Parent { public override int VirtualProperty { get { if(base.VirtualProperty > 0) { throw new ApplicationException("Dummy Ex"); } return base.VirtualProperty; } set { if(base.VirtualProperty != value) { base.VirtualProperty = value; } } } } } Note that the getter in Child is calling the getter of Parent (or at least this is what I intend). I now use the "Child" class by instantiating it, assigning a value (let's say 4) to its VirtualProperty and then reading the property again. Child c = new Child(); c.VirtualProperty = 4; Console.Out.WriteLine("Child.VirtualProperty: " + c.VirtualProperty); When I run this, I obviously get an ApplicationException saying "Dummy Ex". But if I set a breakpoint on the line if(base.VirtualProperty > 0) in Child and check the value of base.VirtualProperty (by hovering the mouse over it) before the exception can be thrown (I assume(d)), I already get the Exception. From this I convey that the statement base.VirtualProperty in the "Child-Getter calls itself"; kind of. What I would like to achieve is the same behavior I get when I change the definition of parentVirutalInt (in Parent) to protected and use base.parentVirtualInt in the Getter of Child instead of base.VirtualProperty. And I don't yet see why this is not working. Can anybody shed some light on this? I feel that overridden properties behave differently than overridden methods? By the way: I am doing something very similar with subclassing a class I do not have any control over (this is the main reason why my "workaround" is not an option). Kind regards

  • VS2008 C++ MFC Access Violation ONLY when stepping through debug mode

    - by HotOil
Hi. This is crazy. It started happening in my main project, so I created a tiny sample brand-new project to reproduce it in and sure enough.. It does NOT happen in a sample project I created that is only a Win32 console app. I'm running this on Win7x64, if that matters. VS2008 SP1. Here goes. I create a small dialog app with a button. Put a breakpoint in the handler function for that button. The button handler function looks like this: void CTestProjectDlg::OnBnClickedButton1() { int i=2; m_csHello.Format(_T("Hello World!")); << breakpoint here UpdateData(FALSE); } Click the button, hit the breakpoint. F10 to step, and boom: "First-chance exception at 0x0398f77b in TestProject.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation." It gives me the option to Break or Continue. If I Continue, it just hits it again, only not "First Chance". Yes I have that exception checked in the Debug-Exceptions dlg. If I Break, the call stack just shows me the line where the breakpoint is. If I F10 again.. I get the exception again, only now the callstack shows me in the _AfxDispatchCmdMsg() function, and my original OnBnClickedButton1() is not in the callstack anymore. It doesn't matter where I put the breakpoint. If, instead of F10, I just continue with F5, it works normally. Now.. if I build a Release version and run in debugging mode: I hit the breakpoint, and all the pointers, variable values look normal. F10, and these turn to garbage. The this pointer is now zero. The m_csHello is now However, in Release mode, an exception is not caught, and it all runs fine. The "hello World string gets displayed in the dialog box as it should. I have put in an inquiry to see if some patch was installed on my box by the IT dept in the last day or two. This wasn't happening 2 days ago. What do you think? Is VS2008 corrupted? Thanks.

  • Creating a bundle - What's going wrong?

    - by joeylange
Hello everyone, I've got a relatively simple one here. I'm making bundles to live inside the Resources folder of my application (and possibly in the Application Support folder). These bundles will contain template information for the data the application handles. I've constructed a bundle, with extension "booksprintstyle", and the directory structure is up to spec. I have an Info.plist all set and I think I've filled in all the values I need to. Do I need to change something in my App to have these folders-with-extensions recognized as bundle files, or am I missing something in my bundle structure? I noticed that some bundles have a file called PkgInfo; is that important? Below is the Info.plist from my bundle. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CFBundleDevelopmentRegion</key> <string>English</string> <key>CFBundleGetInfoString</key> <string>1.0, Copyright © 2009 Joey Lange</string> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>net.atherial.books.exporter.printingpress.printstyle</string> <key>CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion</key> <string>6.0</string> <key>CFBundleName</key> <string>Books Print Style - Generic</string> <key>CFBundlePackageType</key> <string>BNDL</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>CFBundleSignature</key> <string>????</string> <key>CFBundleDisplayName</key> <string>Books Print Style - Generic</string> <key>NSHumanReadableCopyright</key> <string>Copyright © 2009 Joey Lange</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>1.0</string> </dict> </plist>

  • Code Generation(based on templates) for COCOA

    - by Vikas
Hi, I have written a library for I-phone which is based upon some object models(whose definitions I get via XML). Now I have one implementation for a sample model ready but to make the code library generic I want to write an application where I can templatize the code and provide placeholders for data model specific points. Is there any tool available for Xcode to enable me do this. In java "Velocity" does this job for me. Regards, Vikas

  • What is missing from the Java API?

    - by Jack
I started using Java years ago and I've always found almost everything I need inside the standard API provided with JDK SE, with the exception of specific things that don't fit well inside a generic API, like GUI elements (graphs or so on) or advanced mathematical API.. So I was wondering: Which are the most important things that the Java API is missing? When I say "important", I mean either things that you have often needed, but have had to rely on custom libraries, or things that are usually are included in APIs, but not in Java's.

  • How to set the cursor in kEventControlSetCursor?

    - by fret
I want to be able to change the appearance of the mouse cursor as it moves over various hot spots in my view's and it seems to me that I should be doing that in the kEventControlSetCursor handler (which I can get). The function "SetCursor" is deprecated, which leads to the question, what do I call to actually change the cursor? And is there some standard list of cursors I can use? Things like horizontal and vertical arrows? I beam?

  • Problems with CGI wrapper for PHP

    - by user205878
I'm having a bugger of a time with a CGI wrapper for PHP. I know very little about CGI and PHP as CGI. Here's what I know about the system: Solaris 10 on a 386 Suhosin PHP normally running as CGI, with cgiwrap (http://cgiwrap.sourceforge.net/). I am not able to find an example wrapper.cgi on the server to look at. Shared hosting (virtual host), so I don't have access to Apache config. But the admins are not helpful. Switching hosts is not an option. Options directive cannot be overridden in .htaccess (ExecCGI, for example). .htaccess: AddHandler php-handler .php Action php-handler "/bin/test.cgi" ~/public_html/bin/test.cgi: #!/usr/bin/sh # Without these 2 lines, I get an Internal Server Error echo "Content-type: text/html" echo "" exec "/path/to/php-cgi" 'foo.php'; /bin/foo.php: <?php echo "this is foo.php!"; Output of http://mysite.com/bin/test.cgi: X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.11 Content-type: text/html echo "Content-type: text/html" echo "" exec "/path/to//php-cgi" 'foo.php'; Output of http:/ /mysite.com/anypage.php: X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.11 Content-type: text/html echo "Content-type: text/html" echo "" exec "/path/to//php-cgi" 'foo.php'; The things I note are: PHP is being executed, as noted by the X-Powered-By ... header. The source of /bin/test.cgi is output in the results. No matter what I put as the second argument of exec, it isn't passed to the php binary. I've tried '-i' to get phpinfo, '-v' to get the version... When I execute test.cgi via the shell, I get the expected results (the argument is passed to php, and it is reflected in the output). Any ideas about how to get this to work? UPDATE It appears that the reason the source of the test.cgi was appearing was due to errors. Anytime fatal error occurred, either within the cgi itself or with the command being executed by exec, it would cause the source of the cgi to appear. Within test.cgi, I can get the proper output with exec "/path/to/php-cgi" -h (I get the same thing as I would from CLI).

  • Cost of exception handlers in Python

    - by Thilo
In another question, the accepted answer suggested replacing a (very cheap) if statement in Python code with a try/except block to improve performance. Coding style issues aside, and assuming that the exception is never triggered, how much difference does it make (performance-wise) to have an exception handler, versus not having one, versus having a compare-to-zero if-statement?

  • With sqlalchemy how to dynamically bind to database engine on a per-request basis

    - by Peter Hansen
I have a Pylons-based web application which connects via Sqlalchemy (v0.5) to a Postgres database. For security, rather than follow the typical pattern of simple web apps (as seen in just about all tutorials), I'm not using a generic Postgres user (e.g. "webapp") but am requiring that users enter their own Postgres userid and password, and am using that to establish the connection. That means we get the full benefit of Postgres security. Complicating things still further, there are two separate databases to connect to. Although they're currently in the same Postgres cluster, they need to be able to move to separate hosts at a later date. We're using sqlalchemy's declarative package, though I can't see that this has any bearing on the matter. Most examples of sqlalchemy show trivial approaches such as setting up the Metadata once, at application startup, with a generic database userid and password, which is used through the web application. This is usually done with Metadata.bind = create_engine(), sometimes even at module-level in the database model files. My question is, how can we defer establishing the connections until the user has logged in, and then (of course) re-use those connections, or re-establish them using the same credentials, for each subsequent request. We have this working -- we think -- but I'm not only not certain of the safety of it, I also think it looks incredibly heavy-weight for the situation. Inside the __call__ method of the BaseController we retrieve the userid and password from the web session, call sqlalchemy create_engine() once for each database, then call a routine which calls Session.bind_mapper() repeatedly, once for each table that may be referenced on each of those connections, even though any given request usually references only one or two tables. It looks something like this: # in lib/base.py on the BaseController class def __call__(self, environ, start_response): # note: web session contains {'username': XXX, 'password': YYY} url1 = 'postgres://%(username)s:%(password)s@server1/finance' % session url2 = 'postgres://%(username)s:%(password)s@server2/staff' % session finance = create_engine(url1) staff = create_engine(url2) db_configure(staff, finance) # see below ... etc # in another file Session = scoped_session(sessionmaker()) def db_configure(staff, finance): s = Session() from db.finance import Employee, Customer, Invoice for c in [ Employee, Customer, Invoice, ]: s.bind_mapper(c, finance) from db.staff import Project, Hour for c in [ Project, Hour, ]: s.bind_mapper(c, staff) s.close() # prevents leaking connections between sessions? So the create_engine() calls occur on every request... I can see that being needed, and the Connection Pool probably caches them and does things sensibly. But calling Session.bind_mapper() once for each table, on every request? Seems like there has to be a better way. Obviously, since a desire for strong security underlies all this, we don't want any chance that a connection established for a high-security user will inadvertently be used in a later request by a low-security user.

  • Variadic templates in Scala

    - by Thomas Jung
Suppose you want to have something like variadic templates (the ability to define n type parameters for a generic class) in Scala. For example you do not want to define Tuple2[+T1, +T2] and Tuple3[+T1, +T2, +T3] but Tuple[T*]. Are there other options than HLists?

  • Bash completion for Maven escapes colon

    - by armandino
I added bash completion for Maven following the docs: http://maven.apache.org/guides/mini/guide-bash-m2-completion.html Everything works well except for goals that use a colon. For instance, instead of mvn eclipse:eclipse completion escapes the colon mvn eclipse\:eclipse Any suggestions how this can be fixed? I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 (2.6.27-17-generic) and $ bash -version GNU bash, version 3.2.39(1)-release (i486-pc-linux-gnu)

  • Spinner cannot load an integer array?

    - by Adam
    I have an application, which has a Spinner that I want populated with some numbers (4,8,12,16). I created an integer-array object in strings.xml with the items mentioned above, set the entries of the Spinner to the integer-array, and when I run the app I get: 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): java.lang.NullPointerException 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.createViewFromResource(ArrayAdapter.java:355) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.ArrayAdapter.getView(ArrayAdapter.java:323) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.AbsSpinner.onMeasure(AbsSpinner.java:198) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureChildBeforeLayout(LinearLayout.java:888) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:350) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:278) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:245) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.measureVertical(LinearLayout.java:464) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.LinearLayout.onMeasure(LinearLayout.java:278) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewGroup.measureChildWithMargins(ViewGroup.java:2989) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.widget.FrameLayout.onMeasure(FrameLayout.java:245) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.View.measure(View.java:7965) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewRoot.performTraversals(ViewRoot.java:763) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1632) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4310) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) 04-19 23:38:48.016: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(10193): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) As soon as I changed the array to a string-array, this works fine.   • Conway's Game of Life - C++ and Qt

    - by Jeff Bridge
I've done all of the layouts and have most of the code written even. But, I'm stuck in two places. 1) I'm not quite sure how to set up the timer. Am I using it correctly in the gridwindow class? And, am I used the timer functions/signals/slots correctly with the other gridwindow functions. 2) In GridWindow's timerFired() function, I'm having trouble checking/creating the vector-vectors. I wrote out in the comments in that function exactly what I am trying to do. Any help would be much appreciated. main.cpp // Main file for running the grid window application. #include <QApplication> #include "gridwindow.h" //#include "timerwindow.h" #include <stdexcept> #include <string> #include <fstream> #include <sstream> #include <iostream> void Welcome(); // Welcome Function - Prints upon running program; outputs program name, student name/id, class section. void Rules(); // Rules Function: Prints the rules for Conway's Game of Life. using namespace std; // A simple main method to create the window class and then pop it up on the screen. int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { Welcome(); // Calls Welcome function to print student/assignment info. • Simple extend mappable class in lift

    - by coubeatczech
Hi, is there any way how to easy subclass a Mapped class in lift framework? class One extends LongKeyedMapper[One] with IdPK{ object sharedField extend MappedString(this) } class Two extends One[*]{ ... } *and now I can't hint the compiler because One is not defined generic. So this doesn't work, what is the right way?

  • Common DataAnnotations in ASP.Net MVC2

    - by Scott Mayfield
    Howdy, I have what should be a simple question. I have a set of validations that use System.CompontentModel.DataAnnotations . I have some validations that are specific to certain view models, so I'm comfortable with having the validation code in the same file as my models (as in the default AccountModels.cs file that ships with MVC2). But I have some common validations that apply to several models as well (valid email address format for example). When I cut/paste that validation to the second model that needs it, of course I get a duplicate definition error because they're in the same namespace (projectName.Models). So I thought of removing the common validations to a separate class within the namespace, expecting that all of my view models would be able to access the validations from there. Unexpectedly, the validations are no longer accessible. I've verified that they are still in the same namespace, and they are all public. I wouldn't expect that I would have to have any specific reference to them (tried adding using statement for the same namespace, but that didn't resolve it, and via the add references dialog, a project can't reference itself (makes sense). So any idea why public validations that have simply been moved to another file in the same namespace aren't visible to my models? CommonValidations.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.ComponentModel; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; namespace ProjectName.Models { public class CommonValidations { [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Field | AttributeTargets.Property, AllowMultiple = true, Inherited = true)] public sealed class EmailFormatValidAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public override bool IsValid(object value) { if (value != null) { var expression = @"^[a-zA-Z][\w\.-]*[a-zA-Z0-9]@[a-zA-Z0-9][\w\.-]*[a-zA-Z0-9]\.[a-zA-Z][a-zA-Z\.]*[a-zA-Z]$"; return Regex.IsMatch(value.ToString(), expression); } else { return false; } } } } } And here's the code that I want to use the validation from: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.ComponentModel; using System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations; using Growums.Models; namespace ProjectName.Models { public class PrivacyModel { [Required(ErrorMessage="Required")] [EmailFormatValid(ErrorMessage="Invalid Email")] public string Email { get; set; } } }
