• question on regular servlets within GWT (working in dev mode ,not working in deployment in tomcat)

  Hello guys, i am having trouble with my web application developed in GWT. the application allows users to upload and download using an upload servlet and a download servlet, the upload servlet was created using the gwtUpload library. the download servlet is using regular HTTPServlet. when i run the application within eclipse the download servlet works fine, when i deploy it to tomcat, when a user selects to upload a file, the file does not download, when a user selects a link to download a file, this error is returned type Status report message /testhibernategilead/downloadServlet description The requested resource (/testhibernategilead/downloadServlet) is not available. can anyone explain why this is

• Publish web application from MSBuild Script using VS2010 targets resets working directory

  I am trying to automatically publish and deploy my .Net 4 web application automatically from a build script to be run by our continuous integration server. I am using the new _WPPCopyWebApplication target from VS2010 to perform the publish, however it appears to reset the current working directory of the msbuild project to c:\ this causes my prebuild steps to fail as they have relative paths to some external tools. The task I am running from our master.build file is as follows: <Target Name="PublishWeb"> <MSBuild Projects="$(ProjectPath)" Targets="ResolveReferences;_WPPCopyWebApplication" Properties="WebProjectOutputDir=$(DeployPath);OutDir=$(TempOutputFolder)$(WebOutputFolder)\;OutputPath=$(ProjectPath)\bin\Debug;" /> </Target> This does not happen when using the legacy _CopyWebApplication. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this problem?

  I am really hating SharePoint as there are hardly any good/concrete documentation. I developed custom List "MainCatalog" with few columns (not site columns). Create features and elements with MOSS feature builder at Site collection level so scope="site" installed via stsadm activated via UI "went to site collection website", Site Setting Site collection Feature (and saw my custom list "MainCatalog") and was able to activate. then went to "mySiteCollection Site Settings Site Libraries and Lists " My list is showing But it shows in the "mySiteCollection Create Custom Lists "MainCatalog" I guess it's showing there as a template... But my intention is to deploy this list from development to test environment. EXTREMELY STRESSED. I AM ON THIS FOR LAST 8 DAYS.....

  Hi! I have a aspx file that suppose to write to a file in the server while loading. On the local machine it works fine, but when i deploy it to a live server it gives me an exception "Access to the path 'd:\DZHosts\LocalUser\asafz83\www.asafz83.somee.com\lala.htm' is denied." WHen i asked my serverAdmin for the reason - he told me to remove any impersonation from my web.config file. Well, my web.config file doesn't contain any impersonation, so i'm really confused: What can i do in order for this sealy-stupid application to work? thanks!

• What database is a good progression from MS Access for Coldfusion?

  All my (home) CF learning has so far been done using Access as a database, and as far as the DB goes I "get it". There's no database server, and no need to log on to the database or anything, and setting up table relationships is easy and visual. Oh and its essentially free to deploy. However, I'm now working on an application that's likely to be used across several businesses and probably up to 50 concurrent users. I've heard that Access really isn't up to multi user use or production use on an app. What would you recommend as more suitable, preferably easy to grasp, with minimal tweeking needed for my SQL (I used a tool to convert to MySQL and it certainly handles concatenation differently, I dont want to have to do too much debugging), visual interface available, scalable, backupable, and whatever else I need that I don't yet know I need!

• Restart nginx without sudo?

  So I want to be able to cap:deploy without having to type any passwords. I have setup all private keys so I can get to the remote servers fine, and am now using svn over ssh, so no passwords there. I have one last problem, I need to be able to restart nginx. Right now I have sudo /etc/init.d/nginx reload. That is a problem b/c it uses the capistrano password, the one I just removed b/c I am using keys. Any ideas on how to restart nginx w\out a password?

  Hello, I am using Flash builder 4 (SDK3.5) to create my flex program. I want to deploy this program and load it to a tomcat server. I configure my "flex server" root folder and other parameters in the project properties. The problem is, that i don't know how to make it generic. e.g. my friend's tomcat is installed in other directory on the computer. I know that in eclipse i can run the server and tomcat from the IDE. I can't see how i do it in Flash builder plugin for eclipse 4. There is a server configuration, but there isn't adapter for tomcat. Any ideas? thanks.

  I have a simple application written in C# and .Net 2.0 that displays several PowerPoint 2003 files in a loop. (It is going to be used for a information board in our cafeteria) The application works fine on my development machine but when I deploy it to another machine the events I have registered for SlideShowNextSlide and PresentationClose are never fired.   I have a web applications A.war which has two servlets AServlet and BServlet. Both instantiate a helper class com.mycompany.Foo.class (this is my own class, not a third party library). Now I want to split the two servlets into two separate WARs: A.war will have only AServlet and a new B.war will have BServlet. AServlet will invoke BServlet via HTTP GET. Both WARs will have com.mycompany.Foo.class. I want to deploy both WARs on the same JBoss instance. The question is, will there be any classloading issues due to the same class being present in both WARs, and the WARs being deployed on the same JBoss instance?

  I'm trying to write a SQLCLR function that takes a DateTime2 as input and returns another DateTime2. Based on this post I altered the parameter to be the C# type DateTime giving me the level of precision I require. • changing img src with JQuery but leave pathing info intact?

  I'm using JQuery to switch out an image src thusly: $("#myImg").attr("src", "../../new.gif"); notice the relative pathing on the new src. Unfortunately, this isn't portable when I deploy my app. In my MVC app I'm using a ResolveUrl() method that will fix the pathing problem for me so it's portable, but now my JQuery image src swapper doesn't work right since it now switches the correctly resolved path to a broken relative one. <img id="myImg" src="<%=ResolveUrl("~/Images/transparent.gif")%>" /> What I want is for JQuery to just flip the actual filename and leave the path untouched. My first thought would be to // pseudocode javascript jquery on my thought on how to approach this prob var oldFullPath = $('#myImg").GetTheImgSrc; var newFileNameWithPathIntact = someRegexAddNewFileNameWithOldPath $("#myImg").attr("src", newFileNameWithPathIntact); but that seems rather gross and un-JQuery to me. • How to Integrate SharePoint 2007/2010 and Google Apps?

  Hello All, My (smaller) company has an existing Google Apps Deployment, used for E-Mail / Calendar, etc. I'm looking into a SharePoint setup (2010 most likely). One of the best features is that new events are added to one's Outlook Calendar, e-mails can be sent automatically, etc. Naturally, this works best out-of-the-box with Exchange. I know I can add my own OpenID login system via an OpenID provider for SharePoint and get my users into the system. My question is, can anyone recommend the best way to go about making sure that events automatically find their way into users' calendars and e-mails on the Google Apps system? This would enable us to deploy SharePoint without worrying about migrating our e-mail system to Exchange first (Google Apps is more cost-effective for our needs and I'm required to keep it.) Now is mydesign.com available for sale by some domain broker sales bastards. And those bastards don't accept a first bid lower than 1000$ which is a about ten times of the budget I'm willing to pay. So far so good, it's a sick business model but it's there. Now lets imagine that mydesign.nl is a huge success in the Netherlands and I'm makin tons of profits out of advertisements and other things I'm not yet aware of (I know entering the lotery gives a better chance of earning money, but lets just imagine). Is there a way (licence, legal or otherwise) to prevent the sick owners of mydesign.com to download and steal my javascript app and deploy it on their own site and take the profits of my app?

  Have built a small VB.Net app in VS2010. The connection string to the SQL Server is as follows: <connectionStrings> <add name="IWSR_DataDownloadWizard.My.MySettings.sqlConnection" connectionString="Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Data Source=SQLServer;Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=IWSROL" providerName="System.Data.OleDb" /> </connectionStrings> Within the VS2010 environment AND on my machine, the connection works perfectly, however when I deploy to clients I get an error message of: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. I've tried to search the net for solutions, have seen a few instances of people saying to NOT use the Server Name but the IP Address instead (this doesn't work) and some saying to remove the "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1", again this doesn't work. Can anyone suggest a solution please? Further information: Development System is Windows7 using VS2010 Deployment systems are a combination of Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows 7 SQL Server is SQL2000 (soon to be SQL2005). TIA

• Is it possible to do have Capistrano do a checkout over a reverse SSH tunnel?

  I am developing an application that resides on a public host but whose source I must keep in a Git repository behind a corporate firewall. I'm getting very tired of the slowness of deploying via scp (copying the whole repository and shipping it over SSH on each deploy) and would like to have the remote host simply do a git pull to update. The problem is that the firewall prohibits incoming SSH connections. Would it be possible for me to set up an SSH tunnel from my computer to the deployment computer and use my repository as the source for the git pull? After all, git is distributed, so my copy is just as valid a repository as the central one. If this is possible, what would the tunnel command and the Capistrano configuration be? I think the tunnel will look something like ssh -R something:deployserver.com:something [email protected]

• Is there a quick way to build & install to iPhone (from XCode) without starting the app?

  In XCode, I can use CMD-R to run (or CMD-Y to debug), and my app will compile, install on the phone & start-up. (I've already prepped my phone & XCode so this part works as expected.) What I'd LIKE to do is type CMD-<something else> and have my program compile & install on the phone, but NOT start-up. I realize that I can just CMD-B to build, then go through some rigamarole to deploy, but I'm hoping one of you smart-folk can tell me the lazy-man's shortcut for all of this. Thanks!

• How to make WPF app work as a child process in Citrix

  I am working on a 3rd party application that allows plugins to be written in .NET 1.1. I have decided I would like to write my plugin in a seperate process that is called from the .NET 1.1 application (achieved using Process.Start). This is fine- I create a new process that is a WPF app. When I launch this through MSTSC everything works as expected, however when I run the app through Citrix, the WPF child app fails to render correctly, and the mouse position starts going crazy- the child process window is basically not usable. Is there a way to avoid this happening? If I create a seperate WPF application and deploy this through Citrix everything works fine. If I create a child Windows forms app in .NET 3.5, that also works fine.

For example, a lot of ant manuals suggest the following list of targets: init clean compile build jar test javadoc dist deploy webapp What is the most large build file you met in your life? How many targets did it have and what are they? How often do you need more than predefined set of targets? The goal is to develop some conventions to have standard buildfile template for any project having the notion of the maven-like approach in mind (when a lot of work happens under the cover, convention over configuration). Also it would be great if you know the place where one can find collection of different buildfiles to choose or to get inspired from.
