  • Magento layout related basic Questions ?

    Here is what I think about Magento (plz correct me if I am wrong ) 1)Each module has its own layout.xml stored in /interface/theme/layouts/ folder. 2)Magento loads all these layouts for current theme and creates a big xml file. Now what I am confused at . a)If magento loads /default/default/ (interface & theme) then why all the templates & layouts are inside base/default/ ?? b)what if I create my module name “page” inside my namespace “Jason” i.e Jason_Page , now what will happen to blocks in layout files which are named c)Since all the layouts are loaded and merged into one big xml file , then what happen to all those reference blocks which have same name attribute and are inside “Default” handle tag ? e.g d)what is Local.xml layout for and its use ?? e)wats the relation ship between a module name foo , and its layout name foo.xml ? What will happen to layout.xml if two modules with same name exist in diff namespace ? Thanks in advance .

    I have 2 tables, one is an assets table which holds digital assets (e.g. article, images etc), the 2nd table is an asset_links table which maps 1-1 relationships between assets contained within the assets table.     I've implemented Django's relatively new allowed hosts setting, which is meant to prevent attackers from submitting requests with a fake HTTP Host header. Since adding that setting, I now get anywhere from 20-100 emails a day notifying me of invalid HTTP_HOST headers. I've copied in an example of a typical error message below. I'm hosting my site on EC2, and am relatively new to setting up/maintaining a server, so my question is what exactly is happening here, and what is the best way to manage these invalid and I assume malicious requests? [Django] ERROR: Invalid HTTP_HOST header: 'www.launchastartup.com'.You may need to add u'www.launchastartup.com' to ALLOWED_HOSTS.

Have tried a couple times downloading the Android SDK and ADT plugin for Eclipse In the Android SDK and AVD manager load fine but will not load any available packages. Show: - Android Repository --"Some packages were found but are not compatible updates" In the installed it shows 1.5 to 2.3 SDK platforms. How to I get them available. Appreciate help. Thanks, Alex

    I'm working on creating my own Linq-to-Sql generated classes in order to learn the concepts behind it all. I have some questions, if anyone knows the answer to one or more of these I'd be much obliged. The code below, and thus the questions, are from looking at code generated by creating a .DBML file in the Visual Studio 2010 designer, and inspecting the .Designer.cs file afterwards. 1. Why is INotifyPropertyChanging not passing the property name The event raising method is defined like this: protected virtual void SendPropertyChanging() Why isn't the name of the property that is changing passed to the event here? It is defined to be part of the EventArgs descendant that is passed to the event handler, but the method only passes an empty such value to it. 2. Why are the EntitySet<X> attach/detach methods not raising property changed? For an EntitySet<X> reference, the following two methods are generated: private void attach_EmailAddress1s(EmailAddress1 entity) { this.SendPropertyChanging(); entity.Person1 = this; } private void detach_EmailAddress1s(EmailAddress1 entity) { this.SendPropertyChanging(); entity.Person1 = null; } Why isn't SendPropertyChanged also called here? I'm sure I have more questions later, but for now these will suffice :)

    How can I parse text and find all instances of hyperlinks with a string? The hyperlink will not be in the html format of <a href="http://test.com">test</a> but just http://test.com Secondly, I would like to then convert the original string and replace all instances of hyperlinks into clickable html hyperlinks. I found an example in this thread: Easiest way to convert a URL to a hyperlink in a C# string? but was unable to reproduce it in python :(

  • Can't establish a DB connection. (Maybe threads related)

    Hello, I am getting this exception on the Rufus::Scheduler ActiveRecord::ConnectionTimeoutError: could not obtain a database connection within 5 seconds. The max pool size is currently 30; consider increasing it. I've increased the pool from 10 to 30. And I also monkey patched the method which raises the exception to also call ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! before doing its job. And I also restarted the service which executes the script so that the new code is run. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need any other info about environment or whatnot. Thank you.

Table UserOwners contains list of users that certain user created (list of child-users) - or to be more precise, it contains UserOwnerID and UserID fields. Is it suppose to be something like this? public void Add(User user) { db.Users.InsertOnSubmit(user); db.UserReferences.InsertOnSubmit(user.UserReference); } ...or I will have to pass two objects and after adding user I must read it's ID and than assign it to userReference object and add that object to DB?   • Do MySQL Locked Tables affect related Views?

    So after reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1415602/performance-in-pdo-php-mysql-transaction-versus-direct-execution in regards to performance issues I was thinking about I did some research on locking tables in MySQL. On http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/table-locking.html Table locking enables many sessions to read from a table at the same time, but if a session wants to write to a table, it must first get exclusive access. During the update, all other sessions that want to access this particular table must wait until the update is done. This part struck me particularly becuase most of our queries will be updates rather than inserts. I was wondering if one created a table called foo on which all updates/inserts were carried out and then a view called foo_view (A copy of foo, or perhaps foo and a linkage of several other tables plus foo) on which all selects occured, would this locking issue still occur? That is, would SELECT quries on foo_view still have to wait for an update to finish on foo?
