  • Open .doc file from my website in browser

    What's the best way to give the end-user of my web application the ability to open, edit and save (via browser) word documents that are stored in my database? I have this working by doing an html conversion of the file (via Aspose Words) but this method seems not even close to flawless and i'm trying to improve this. Is integrating with google docs possible/good? Their edition seems awesome and very powerful. I can't use any Microsoft Word objects (and this is even discouraged by MS). EDIT: The application is developed in .NET and currently uses the .NET framework 2.0. However, as this is fairly obsolete the idea is to restart from scratch and therefore use the 4.0 framework and C# or VB.

  • AdWords traffic not (properly) reflected in Analytics

    I have an AdWords account, which was set to use Auto-tagging of URLs. When looking at the Analytics account for that site, I couldn't find any reference to AdWords traffic either in the Advertising section or the Traffic Sources section. So I manually constructed the URL tags, and updated the Campaign Ad. Once the ad was approved and the clicks started coming through again, I could see the results in the Traffic Sources section of Analytics. In the Sources Campaigns section, my campaign was listed, and under Sources All Traffic, it was registering the same level of traffic from google/adwords. However, the Advertising AdWords section is still drawing a blank. Any ideas? Are there explicit steps needed to enable full tracking of AdWords campaigns? If it is relevant, the Adwords campaign was set up with one account, and the Analytics tracking with another, but both accounts have full access to both AdWords and Analytics.

  • Delaying execution of Javascript function relative to Google Maps / geoxml3 parser?

    I'm working on a implementing a Google map on a website with our own tiles overlays and KML elements. I've been previously requested to create code so that, for instance, when the page is loaded from a specific URL, it would initialize with one of the tile overlays already enabled. Recently, I've been requested to do the same for the buildings which are outlined by KML elements so that, arriving at the page with a specific URL, it would automatically zoom, center, and display information on the building. However, while starting with the tile overlays work, the building KML does not. While the page has completed loading all of the elements, the map on the page is still loading, including the KML elements. I have also tried placing urlClick() in the parser itself in various places which appear to execute after all the shapes have been parsed, but I've had no success there either. While I've been intending to strip out the parser, I would like to know if there is any way of executing the "urlClick" after the parser has returned the KML shapes. Ideally, I don't want to use an arbitrary means of defining a time to wait, such as "wait 3 seconds, and go", as my various browsers all load the page at different times; rather, I'm looking for some way to say "when the parser is done, execute" or "when the Google map is completely loaded, execute" or perhaps even "hold until the parser is complete before advancing to urlClick".

  • Disable Java Hardware Acceleration in windows?

    I have some issues with my graphics card and I want to disable Hardware Acceleration for java apps. Everything that uses HA is displayed blurry. I've seen some tutorials on how to set this parameter -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false The problem is that the Java Control panel itself is using hardware acceleration and I cannot see anything in order to add this parameter. Edit: Went to java control panel in safe mode, added that parameter and problem continues.. From the support perspective how can one find whether the pages which are opening on GUI at any point of time is a server side scripting or Client side scripting. The reason why I ask this is because I understand that some of the codes are executed by the browser such as Javascript.   • Web-based clients vs thick/rich clients?

    My company is a software solutions provider to a major telecommunications company. The environment is currently IBM WebSphere-based with front-end IBM Portal servers talking to a cluster of back-end WebSphere Application Servers providing EJB services. Some of the portlets use our own home-grown MVC-pattern and some are written in JSF. Recently we did a proof-of-concept rich/thick-client application that communicates directly with the EJB's on the back-end servers. It was written in NetBeans Platform and uses the WebSphere application client library to establish communication with the EJB's. The really painful bit was getting the client to use secure JAAS/SSL communications. But, after that was resolved, we've found that the rich client has a number of advantages over the web-based portal client applications we've become accustomed to: Enormous performance advantage (CORBA vs. HTTP, cut out the Portal Server middle man) Development is simplified and faster due to use of NetBeans' visual designer and Swing's generally robust architecture The debug cycle is shortened by not having to deploy your client application to a test server No mishmash of technologies as with web-based development (Struts, JSF, JQuery, HTML, JSTL etc., etc.) After enduring the pain of web-based development (even JSF) for a while now, I've come to the following conclusion: Rich clients aren't right for every situation, but when you're developing an in-house intranet-based solution, then you'd be crazy not to consider NetBeans Platform or Eclipse RCP. Any comments/experiences with rich clients vs. web clients?

    Hello guys, I want to communicate xml serialized objects from the server to the client and the other way arround. Now it is (probably) easy to invoke methods from a mobile client (compact framework) using WCF, but is there a way so that the server can invoke methods on the client side or some other way to pull data from the client? I know that callback contracts are not available in the compact framework as you can see here: http://blogs.msdn.com/andrewarnottms/archive/2007/09/13/calling-wcf-services-from-netcf-3-5-using-compact-wcf-and-netcfsvcutil-exe.aspx Originally I thought of socket programming and of developing this by myself, then someone here mentioned WCF. But it seems like WCF only would work in a non mobile environment as I need callbacks. Anyone can help me with this? Is it possible to develop a two way communication with a desktop server and multiple mobile clients using WCF, or will I have to do socket programming? Thanks for any advice or any kind of help!

    I'm trying to connect to an SSL-enabled mysql server from my own java application. After setting up ssl on mysqld, and successfuly tested an account using "REQUIRE ISSUER and SUBJECT", I wanted to use that account in a java app. I've generated a private key (to a file called keystore.jks) and csr using keytool, and signed the csr using my own CA(The same used with mysqld and its certificate). Once signed the csr, I've imported the CA and client cert into the keystore.jks file. When running the application the SSL connection can't be established. Relevant logs: ...   • Java Swing over Remote Desktop - Strange, weird GUI squashing

    I thought this question fits SuperUser more than StackOverflow because it's not about actual Java programming, though programmers might be more likely to encounter the problem. Anyway, let me start of with some stats before I ask the actual question: Laptop: Windows 7 x32 Screen resolution 1024 x 768; Nvidia GeForce Go 6200 Connected to desktop via ad-hoc wireless network Access internet via desktop Desktop: Windows 7 x64 Screen resolution 1920 x 1080 Connected to laptop via ad-hoc wireless network Access internet via cable modem I'm connecting to my laptop via Remote Desktop from my desktop to take advantage of the large screen. I'm doing programming on my laptop (for portability reasons). Everything else runs smooth and fast over Remote Desktop as both computers are connected directly over the ad-hoc wireless. The only problem is this: Java Swing apps don't display the GUI properly. I acquired a Java Swing application and I'm debugging it in Eclipse. Here's what I got when I ran the app: Apparently there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the GUI application I'm debugging, because the Java Control Panel exhibits the same problem. I've searched high and low in Google about this; the closest I came to a solution is this. But sadly, the use of -Dsun.java2d.nodraw=true has no effect at all. This only happens over Remote Desktop. I have tried locally and the GUI apps display properly. This isn't a dealbreaker for me as I can stop using Remote Desktop when developing Java Swing apps. However, I would like to know if anyone has encountered this and found any solution. PS: All software involved (Eclipse, Java JRE, etc.) are latest versions.

  • Seeking web-based FTP client for very large file upload

    I have looked around for these for some time... the limits imposed by the web server and/or the dynamic programming environment (e.g. PHP) are far too restrictive for the application I'm working on. We need to be able to move large graphics and video files to and from clients (ranging from tens of MB to a few GB in a single file). Plain FTP with a proper desktop client will do the trick, and we're hosting this in Amazon EC2 with EBS. User management will be done from the office via webmin. Users are chroot-jailed into their home dir by proftpd. net2ftp will work for many clients, but we often need to move single files that approach 1GB or exceed 2-3GB which is way out of the range of any http-based uploader. So we turn to Java or Flash - can they do it? From within the web browser establish an FTP connection and grab a huge file? There are licensed applets and such out there, but none seem convincing. Again, I'm looking for some code that can speak FTP and read (& write?) the local disk, that is delivered in a web browser, and can move single files of 2GB+. The reason for having a web-based interface to FTP is to skip the software installation step for our clients. I will consider proper desktop client software as long as it's "portable" and at least Win+Mac and can be easily configured by lay-man users in a hurry.

    1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. Actually in Java code I have two seperate lists, one with Node1 objects and other with Node2 obects. I can sort the list in any order sperately inside java. But I need to have the dates sorted irrespective of the nodes it is apperaing on the XML. What is the best approach to sort this way in Java? Actaully I am using Castor for marshalling the java objects to XML. If you know this can be done with Castor, that will be great!

    I currently have a MapToolKit.html , and two .js files namely map.js and search.js. When i search places like starbucks, they will return me addresses and coordinates stored into an array.
