  • generating a class dynamically from types that are fetched at runtime

    is doing the following possible in C# (or in any other language) 1. I am fetching data from a database. At run time i can compute the no. of columns and data types of the columns fetched. 2. Next i want to "generate" a class with these data types as fields. I also want to store all the records that i fetch in a collection. The problem is that i wanna do both step **1** and **2** at runt ime is this possible ? I am using C# currently but i can shift to something else if i need to.

  • XNA: Retrieve texture file name during runtime

    I'm trying to retrieve the names of the texture files (or their locations) on a mesh. I realize that the texture file name information is not preserved when the model is loaded. I've been doing tons of searching and some experimenting but I've been met with no luck. I've gathered that I need to extended the content pipeline and store the file location in somewhere like ModelMeshPart.Tag. My problem is, even when I'm trying to make my own custom processor, I still can't figure out where the texture file name is. :( Any thoughts? Thanks! UPDATE: Okay, so I found something kind of promising. NodeContent.Identity.SourceFilename, only that returns the location of my .X model. When I go down the node tree he is always null. Then there's the ContentItem.Name property. It seems to have names of my mesh, but not my actual texture file names. :(

    i allready asked this on Stackoverflow, but i think this question may belong here. In a Libgdx game i have some Animations for my Player. All the Frames for this Animation are inside a TextureAtlas. The Player Textures show a human, with a white T-Shirt. The T-Shirt is the only white part of the Player. Now i want to be able to replace the white color with red for Player1, with green for Player2 and so on. How can i do that, without loosing the advantage of the TextureAtlas (Texture switching)? Ofc 1 way would be to store 4 versions of every Frame, for 4 different Players (colors). But there are games out there, where you can fully customize the Player, give him a blue hat, red pants and pink shirts and so on. How can this be done? Thanks a lot!     As a relative newbie in the Java world, I am finding many things frustratingly obtuse to accomplish that are relatively trivial in many other frameworks. A primary example is a simple solution for asynchronous http requests. Seeing as one doesn't seem to already exist, what is the best approach? Creating my own threads using a blocking type lib like httpclient or the built-in java http stuff, or should I use the newer non-blocking io java stuff - it seems particularly complex for something which should be simple. What I am looking for is something easy to use from a developer point of view - something similar to URLLoader in AS3 - where you simply create a URLRequest - attach a bunch of event handlers to handle the completion, errors, progress, etc, and call a method to fire it off.     Hi All, i am new to the web development environment, having came from a unix/c environment. i've been recently asked to create a web app, which i thought would require postgresql, java/j2ee, and javascript for the client interface. as i had wanted a nicer gui, i've been reading up on extjs, which looks really nice to me. a colleague mentioned that the time needed time needed to learn all these various pieces is time consuming, and Jdeveloper seems to provide most of what we'd need (i was shown a demo, which appears to be able to generate some nice web interfaces). what are the pros and cons with the different approaches ? some i can think of: - jdeveloper is an integrated ide, which creates UI easily, tightly integrated with database. (pro) - jdeveloper will be heavier? (con) - wizard generated code may be harder to refactor ?   • Problem upgrading eclipse rcp app from 3.3 to 3.5 on Mac OS

    I previously had an eclipse rcp app based on eclipse 3.3 pugins deployed on both windows and mac OS X 10.4. i'm now trying to port the app to java 1.6 and eclipse 3.5 (Build id: 20100218-1602) plugins on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). I can launch the product from eclipse 3.5 on windows but not on Mac OS X. I have the 64bit cocoa eclipse IDE and java 6. In the launch configuration I set runtime JRE to JVM 1.6.0 and added required plugins.     hello stackflow people As a School assignment i'm required to implement Naïve Bayes algorithm which i am intending to do in Java. In trying to understand how its done, i've read the book "Data Mining - Practical Machine Learning Tools and Techniques" which has a section on this topic but am still unsure on some primary points that are blocking my progress. Since i'm seeking guidance not solution in here, i'll tell you guys what i thinking in my head, what i think is the correct approach and in return ask for correction/guidance which will very much be appreciated. please note that i am an absolute beginner on Naïve Bayes algorithm, Data mining and in general programming so you might see stupid comments/calculations below: The training data set i'm given has 4 attributes/features that are numeric and normalized(in range[0 1]) using Weka (no missing values)and one nominal class(yes/no) 1) The data coming from a csv file is numeric HENCE * Given the attributes are numeric i use PDF (probability density function) formula. + To calculate the PDF in java i first separate the attributes based on whether they're in class yes or class no and hold them into different array (array class yes and array class no) + Then calculate the mean(sum of the values in row / number of values in that row) and standard divination for each of the 4 attributes (columns) of each class + Now to find PDF of a given value(n) i do (n-mean)^2/(2*SD^2), + Then to find P( yes | E) and P( no | E) i multiply the PDF value of all 4 given attributes and compare which is larger, which indicates the class it belongs to In temrs of Java, i'm using ArrayList of ArrayList and Double to store the attribute values. lastly i'm unsure how to to get new data? Should i ask for input file (like csv) or command prompt and ask for 4 values? I'll stop here for now (do have more questions) but I'm worried this won't get any responses given how long its got. I will really appreciate for those that give their time reading my problems and comment.

  • Open mails in outlook from java using the protocol "mapi://"

    I developp a Java application using Windows Desktop Search from which I can retrieve some information about files on my computer such as urls (System.ItemUrl). An example of such url is file://c:/users/ausername/documents/aninterestingfile.txt for "normal" files. This field give also urls of mail items indexed from Outlook or Thunderbird. Thunderbird's items (only available using vista and seven) are also files (.wdseml). But outlook's items urls start with "mapi://" like : mapi://{S-1-5-21-1626573300-1364474481-487586288-1001}/[email protected]($b423dcd5)/0/Inbox/???????????????????????? The problem I have is opening the real item from Java in Outlook using this url. If I copy/paste it in the run dialog of Windows, it works ; it also works if I use "start" followed by the copied/pasted url in command line. The url seems to be encoded in UTF-16. I want to be able to write such code : String url = "mapi://{S-1-5-21-1626573300-1364474481-487586288-1001}/[email protected]($b423dcd5)/0/Inbox/????????????????????????"; Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /C start " + url); I doesn't work and I've tried other solutions like : String start = "start"; String url = "mapi://{S-1-5-21-1626573300-1364474481-487586288-1001}/[email protected]($b423dcd5)/0/Inbox/????????????????????????"; FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(new File("test.bat"); fos.write(start.getBytes("UTF16"); fos.write(url.getBytes("UTF16")); fos.close(); Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /C test.bat"); without any success. Using the solution above, the file "test.bat" contains the correct url and the "start" command, but the run of "test.bat" results in the well known error message : '¦' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Has anybody an idea to be able to open "mapi://" items from Java ?

    How can one add two long values (call them x and y) in Java so that if the result overflows then it is clamped to the range Long.MIN_VALUE..Long.MAX_VALUE? For adding ints one can perform the arithmetic in long precision and cast the result back to an int, e.g.: int saturatedAdd(int x, int y) { long sum = (long) x + (long) y; long clampedSum = Math.max((long) Integer.MIN_VALUE, Math.min(sum, (long) Integer.MAX_VALUE)); return (int) clampedSum; } or import com.google.common.primitives.Ints; int saturatedAdd(int x, int y) { long sum = (long) x + (long) y; return Ints.saturatedCast(sum); } but in the case of long there is no larger primitive type that can hold the intermediate (unclamped) sum. Since this is Java, I cannot use inline assembly (in particular SSE's saturated add instructions.) It can be implemented using BigInteger, e.g. static final BigInteger bigMin = BigInteger.valueOf(Long.MIN_VALUE); static final BigInteger bigMax = BigInteger.valueOf(Long.MAX_VALUE); long saturatedAdd(long x, long y) { BigInteger sum = BigInteger.valueOf(x).add(BigInteger.valueOf(y)); return bigMin.max(sum).min(bigMax).longValue(); } however performance is important so this method is not ideal (though useful for testing.)     Hi Guys, I am doing a project concerning robot simulation and i need help. I have to simulate the activities of a robot in a warehouse. I am using mindstorm robots and lego's for the warehouse. The point here is i have to simulate all the activities of the robot on a Java GUI. That is whenever the robot is moving, users have to see it on the GUI a moving object which represents the robot. When the roads/rails/crossings of the warehouse changes it must also be changed on the screen. The whole project is i have to simulate whatever the robot is doing in the warehouse in real-time. Everything must happen in real-time I am asking which libraries in Java i can use to do this simulations in real-time and if someone can also point me to any site for good information.   • Building error in Eclipse with build.xml

    I am working on a Java project with Eclipse. This project requires a second project (not mine), named sams in its build-path. The sams is provided with a build.xml file and it should generate some code using Apache CXF when building it. When I use Apache ANT on Eclipse and run the cxf.generated command from its build file I get the following error: Buildfile: C:\Docs\ZacRocha\Desktop\sams\build.xml cxf.generated: [echo] Generating code using Apache CXF wsdl2java...
