  • MacOS Virtual Input Devices

    - by computergeek6
    How can I create a virtual HID device in code? I'm trying to avoid writing a kernel extension to accomplish this, but it seems to be the only way. I need to be able to create virtual HID devices of all types, and have an app running in the background feed them events. Is there a way to do this in user-space, or must I venture into kernel land?

  • Why is the volatile qualifier used through out std::atomic?

    - by Caspin
    From what I've read from Herb Sutter and others you would think that volatile and concurrent programming were completely orthogonal concepts, at least as far as C/C++ are concerned. However, in GCC c++0x extension all of std::atomic's member functions have the volatile qualifier. The same is true in Anthony Williams's implementation of std::atomic. So what's deal, do my atomic<> variables need be volatile or not?

  • Using .inc files when theming.

    - by Nick Lowman
    Hi there, I noticed in the Zen theme there were various PHP files with the .inc file extension .i.e. template.conditional-styles.inc. I've read/watched quite a few theming tutorials but none of them mentioned these files for theming, only the template.php. Can anyone tell me when, if and how I should be using these files for theming. Many thanks

  • Can't read excel file after creating it using File.WriteAllText() function

    - by Srikanth Mattihalli
    public void ExportDataSetToExcel(DataTable dt) { HttpResponse response = HttpContext.Current.Response; response.Clear(); response.Charset = "utf-8"; response.ContentEncoding = Encoding.GetEncoding("utf-8"); response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; Random Rand = new Random(); int iNum = Rand.Next(10000, 99999); string extension = ".xls"; string filenamepath = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory + "graphs\\" + iNum + ".xls"; string file_path = "graphs/" + iNum + extension; response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=\"" + iNum + "\""); string query = "insert into graphtable(graphtitle,graphpath,creategraph,year) VALUES('" + iNum.ToString() + "','" + file_path + "','" + true + "','" + DateTime.Now.Year.ToString() + "')"; try { int n = connect.UpdateDb(query); if (n > 0) { resultLabel.Text = "Merge Successfull"; } else { resultLabel.Text = " Merge Failed"; } resultLabel.Visible = true; } catch { } using (StringWriter sw = new StringWriter()) { using (HtmlTextWriter htw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw)) { // instantiate a datagrid DataGrid dg = new DataGrid(); dg.DataSource = dt; //ds.Tables[0]; dg.DataBind(); dg.RenderControl(htw); File.WriteAllText(filenamepath, sw.ToString()); // File.WriteAllText(filenamepath, sw.ToString(), Encoding.UTF8); response.Write(sw.ToString()); response.End(); } } } Hi all, I have created an excel sheet from datatable using above function. I want to read the excel sheet programatically using the below connectionstring. This string works fine for all other excel sheets but not for the one i created using the above function. I guess it is because of excel version problem. OleDbConnection conn= new OleDbConnection("Data Source='" + path +"';provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;";); Can anyone suggest a way by which i can create an excel sheet such that it is readable again using above query. I cannot use Microsoft InterOp library as it is not supported by my host.

  • Perl vs Python but with more style than normally

    - by user350571
    I'm learning perl and everytime I search for perl stuff in the internet I get some random page with people saying that perl should die because code written in it looks like a lesson in steganography. Then they say that python is clean and stuff like that. Now, I know that those comparisons are always stupid and made by fellows that feel that languages are a extension of their boring personality so, let me ask instead: can you give me the implementation of a widely known algorithm to deal with a data structure like red-black trees in both languages so I can compare?

  • Display custom file format's metadata in Windows Explorer

    - by Benny Jobigan
    When viewing a jpg or mp3 in Windows Explorer, the bottom pane shows metadata from the media file. Furthermore, for video and picture, the icon is shown as a preview of the media. Is there a way to add this kind of functionality to windows for custom file types that aren't supported by default in windows? Is there a certain sort of plugin or extension that must be written? If so, how is it implemented? Thank you.

  • html.erb vs erb (and haml equivalents)

    - by mathee
    I'm not sure I understand the difference between the html.erb files and erb files in the views for a Ruby on Rails application. (Similarly for haml files.) What are the dis/advantages of each (html.erb/haml or erb/haml) files? PS I'm not asking about the difference between the erb and haml files -- just appending the extension to an html file versus not appending it.

  • Using waitForCondition ( script,timeout ) in Selenium IDE

    - by Alessandro Vernet
    I recorded a script using the Selenium IDE extension for Firefox, and I would like to add the command waitForCondition. I see it takes two arguments: script and timeout. In Selenium IDE, I have 3 text fields for each command: the command name (I assume "waitForCondition"), the target, and the value. Where and how should I put the two arguments in this UI?

  • Server-side web browser for PHP?

    - by Lee
    If you wanted to re-create the DOM server-side and manipulate it in PHP, how would you choose to go about it? I'm looking for a fast, multi-user complete server-side web browser that can interface with PHP and run complete Javascript. Like Jaxer but something I can use with PHP... an extension would be fine, or even an Apache mod. Ideas?

  • c declaring variables in blocks

    - by anon
    I know that in C++, I can declare variables pretty much everywhere. I recall once reading that in C, variables must be declared at the top of a function i.e. the following is invalid: void foo() { int good; if (...) { int bad; } } In the above code, is the declaraing of the bad varaible legal by C standards, or only legal due to a gcc extension? Thanks!

  • Phantomjs creating black output from SVG using page.render

    - by Neil Young
    I have been running PhantomJS 1.9.6 happily on a turnkey Linux server for about 4 months now. Its purpose is to take an SVG file and create different sizes using the page.render function. This has been doing this but since a few days ago has started to generate a black mono output. Please see below: The code: var page = require('webpage').create(), system = require('system'), address, output, ext, width, height; if ( system.args.length !== 4 ) { console.log("{ \"result\": false, \"message\": \"phantomjs.rasterize: error need address, output, extension arguments\" }"); //console.log('phantomjs.rasterize: error need address, output, extension arguments'); phantom.exit(1); } else if( system.args[3] !== "jpg" && system.args[3] !== "png"){ console.log("{ \"result\": false, \"message\": \"phantomjs.rasterize: error \"jpg\" or \"png\" only please\" }"); //console.log('phantomjs.rasterize: error "jpg" or "png" only please'); phantom.exit(1); } else { address = system.args[1]; output = system.args[2]; ext = system.args[3]; width = 1044; height = 738; page.viewportSize = { width: width, height: height }; //postcard size page.open(address, function (status) { if (status !== 'success') { console.log("{ \"result\": false, \"message\": \"phantomjs.rasterize: error loading address ["+address+"]\" }"); //console.log('phantomjs.rasterize: error loading address ['+address+'] '); phantom.exit(); } else { window.setTimeout(function () { //--> redner full size postcard page.render( output + "." + ext ); //--> redner smaller postcard page.zoomFactor = 0.5; page.clipRect = {top:0, left:0, width:width*0.5, height:height*0.5}; page.render( output + ".50." + ext); //--> redner postcard thumb page.zoomFactor = 0.25; page.clipRect = {top:0, left:0, width:width*0.25, height:height*0.25}; page.render( output + ".25." + ext); //--> exit console.log("{ \"result\": true, \"message\": \"phantomjs.rasterize: success ["+address+"]>>["+output+"."+ext+"]\" }"); //console.log('phantomjs.rasterize: success ['+address+']>>['+output+'.'+ext+']'); phantom.exit(); }, 100); } }); } Does anyone know what can be causing this? There have been no server configuration changes that I know of. Many thanks for your help.
