I just wanted to start a blog but couldn't think of an appropriate name. The name should be geeky in some sort of way. I'm not very creative today, so what are your proposals?
I have created a simple view consisting of 3 tables in SQL.
By right clicking and selecting Design, in the Object explorer table, i modified my custom view. I just added sortby asc in a field.
The problem is that the changes are not reflected in the outout of the View.
After saving the view, and selecting Open view the sort is not displayed in output.
So what is going on here?
Hi, in VIM sometimes when saving, I accidentally hit capital W instead of its lowercase brother. I am prompted for my system password, so I assume it is running a sudo command of some sort, but do you know what?
Thank you!
I have a SQL table (MYSQL 4.0 to be precise) composed of the following :
int no (primary)
int field1
int field2
I would like to swap the values of field1 with the values of field2 and vice-versa.
Ex.: 1;2.5;3.76 becomes 1;3.76;2.5
I need a swapping temporary variable of some sort. But I don't think I can use something like
Set @var1 = field1
inside my update statement. And I don't think altering the table to add a temporary column is my best best either.
Sorry about the bad heading, but the question was not easy to compress into one sentence...
I have two lists of contigs (list1 and list2). They contain mostly unique contigs, but with some overlap. I want to compare list1 and list2 and then create a list3 that contains all contigs in list1 minus those also present in list2. Is this possible with a simple cat/paste/grep/sort/uniq kind of batch command?
Thanks!
I need to sort a 2 dimensional array of doubles on multiple columns using either C or C++. Could someone point me to the algorithm that I should use or an existing library (perhaps boost?) that has this functionality?
I have a feeling that writing a recursive function may be the way to go but I am too lazy to write out the algorithm or implement it myself if it has been done elsewhere. :-)
Thanks
I am working on an ASP.Net web application in which several WCF services are being used. At client level, I am creating channel factory mechanism to invoke service operations. Right now, I have created an assembly having classes used for channel factory creation code for every service. As per my assumption this is some sort of
facade pattern. Please help me to find a better approach or any design pattern, which I can use here.
I'm using VS 2012, and I'm working on a bubble sort.
After searching I found a nifty trick to see the content of the array in the "Watch 1" tab, (How to view contents of an array while debugging in Code Blocks?), but going from "watch 1" to "Autos" every step to see what's changing in the array isn't practical at all.
How can i see the array content within "Autos" along side my other changing variables, where i need it to show?
Hi
I am using a pool of 5 with jquery. So only 5 notifications should be shown. I think it would be nice to have maybe under the "close all" button to have a count like shown 5 of 20 notifications.
To me it could get confusing if I keep closing notifications and new ones keep poping up. I might think there is some sort of problem with the site.
Anyone know how to do this?
I have a link in one view myapp/locations that goes to myapp/statistics?id=1 (statistics for location with ID 1) which works fine but it doesn't look pretty. I think I've seen people do this sort of thing without needing the ?id=1? I could use a POST but this is not RESTful. Is there a way I can use routing to allow the user to go to myapp/statistics?id=1 but have the user see myapp/statistics?
Many thanks.
I have a node in Drupal with a few comments. Is there an easyish way to get the CID of every comment within the node? Also, is there a way to sort them by various parameters, chronology, karma of the comment etc. Thank you.
I saw some topics about this, but the problem is that the solutions required a "switch case"... Like this
I have a table with a lot of columns, is there a way to do a dynamic sort without the switch?
I want to create a Window like when a context menu pops up or clicking the menubar. I want a Window that will be like this and that I can take over its paint event. Sort of like what is created when you select a sub tool in Photoshop.
Thanks
I'm currently developing a small Database Management System for a local company. How would you go about explaining how the system you have designed to a client? If they are non-technical and have no understanding of programming, how would you go about showing what the system will do and how it will do it? I guess some sort of visual representation of the system but this seems very patronising to me.
Hi all,
Sorry if this is a noob question, I searched quite a bit and couldn't find an answer.
I'm developing a html5 app that relies on sqlite for local storage.
I'd like for it to appear as an app icon on the iPhone/Android screen, what's the best way to do this? Ie can I write some sort of "wrapper" app to achieve it?
Thanks!
I'm trying to embed and then play back a .wav file in a C++/CLI app but all the examples I've seen which use PlaySound are in VB. I can't see how to get froma Stream^ to the LPCSTR which PlaySound requires:
System::IO::Stream^ s = Assembly::GetExecutingAssembly()->GetManifestResourceStream ("Ping.wav");
LPCSTR buf = s->????;
PlaySound(buf, NULL, SND_ASYNC|SND_MEMORY|SND_NOWAIT);
I guess I need some sort of horrible .net memory conversion magic.
For some reason this function confused me:
def protocol(port):
return port == "443" and "https://" or "http://"
Can somebody explain the order of what's happening behind the scenes to make this work the way it does.
I understood it as this until I tried it:
Either A)
def protocol(port):
if port == "443":
if bool("https://"):
return True
elif bool("http://"):
return True
return False
Or B)
def protocol(port):
if port == "443":
return True + "https://"
else:
return True + "http://"
Is this some sort of special case in Python, or am I completely misunderstanding how statements work?
There seems to be a plethora of documentation tools for Python. Another one that I've run across is epydoc. It seems like Sphinx is the de facto standard, because it's used to generate the official Python docs. Can someone please sort out the current state of Python's documentation tools for me?
I am working on generating emails using Java. I would love to use some sort of system where I can send out mass emails and ensure that the emails were received by the intended recipient (A. My code to send the emails worked and B.The emails were not marked as spam). How can I do this without setting up (and keeping track of) a couple hundred email addresses and then checking each one individually?
Thanks!
I am trying to get the Paypal issue resolved whereby the users are made to make payments using the Do Direct method of Paypal... please suggest me some sort of tutorial for this implementation..
Learning the basics of XML for the first time from W3C tutorials. How are most XML files generated? Does the server side application usually print a complete XML file to be parsed each time there is new data?
I have a CGI application in C and it includes the SQLite API. Is the best way to do some sort of printf to a XML file (using my data from the database) so it can be parsed?
Thanks.
I've got a UITableView that is sortable, but that's it. Right now, I have all the cells set to UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone, but this still moves the TextLabel of the cell over to the right by 40 pixels. Is there anyway to get edit mode, and the sort icon at the right, without shifting the TextLabel over?
I've got a custom colour set in Visual Studio and one of the colours when debugging is making things a bit of a misery. Unfortunately I can't figure out which one it is, and when going through and changing all the light background ones, it still remains.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? In this screenshot the current line is yellow, and the caller is the white/cream sort of colour which is the one I want to change...
Thanks very much! :)
