Is there a way to know if all the properties in an object are empty. My object represents fields from database and I want to know if a particular record is present or not. NULL doesnt seem to work.

Hello All
I would like to update a column in Table with reference to other column(s) in same table.
Ex: As in figure below - I would like to update effective endate with min date whichever is greater than effective Start Date of currrent record.
How can this be acheived in T-SQL. Can this be done with single update statement ?
Thanks.
How do I get the desired result in T-SQL like ....
like
I have a Record like
UseriD InDate outDate
1 3/12/2010 3/12/2010
1 3/12/2010 3/13/2010
1 3/19/2010 3/30/2010
2 3/2/2010 3/3/2010
2 3/3/2010 3/4/2010
2 3/4/2010 3/29/2010
3 2/2/2010 2/28/2010
so our result must be like this
UseriD InDate outDate
1 3/12/2010 3/13/2010
1 3/19/2010 3/30/2010
2 3/2/2010 3/29/2010
3 2/2/2010 2/28/2010
How can we do this is T-Sql
I have been using the ActiveRecord library for many years. Recently I started a new project and I'm including the AR 2.0 release in this project. I saw that it shipped with the Linq to Nhibernate library. Are there any good examples of how to use Linq to Nhibernate with the Active Record library?
As the question says, is it possible to play an overlay video over the camera and record it.
Also, would it be possible to play an audio file while in camera mode.
hello.
This is not hundred percent programming related question, but I was not able to find answer on the net.
Is there some kind of detector to record frequency/intensity of light radiation source? something like spectroscopy detector, but instead of actual machine, just the module which can be integrated in project. I have tried searching on Google but I do not even know what such device is called
if you know the more appropriate place to ask, can you let me know please.
Thank you
I have customer and address tables.
query:
select * from addresses a, customers b where a.id = b.id
returns 474 records
For these records, I'd like to add the id of customer table into cid of address table.
Example:
If for the first record the id of customer is 9 and id of address is also 9 then i'd like to insert 9 into cid column of address table.
I tried:
update addresses a, customers b set a.cid = b.id where a.id = b.id
but this does not seem to work.
Hello,
I'm creating a database with Access. This is just a test database, similar to my requirements, so I can get my skills up before creating one for work. I've created a database for a fictional school as this is a good playground and rich data (many students have many subjects have many teachers, etc).
Question 1
What is the difference, if any, between using a Lookup column and a many-to-many associate table?
Example: I have Tables 'Teacher' and 'Subject'. Many teachers have many subjects. I can, and have, created a table 'Teacher_Subject' and run queries with this.
I have then created a lookup column in teachers table with data from subjects. The lookup column seems to take the place of the teacher_subject table. (though the data on relationships is obviously duplicated between lookup table and teacher_subject and may vary). Which one is the 'better' option? Is there a snag with using lookup tables?
(I realize that this is a very 'general' question. Links to other resources and answers saying 'that depends...' are appreciated)
Question 2
What attracts me to lookup tables is the following: When creating a form for entering subjects for teachers, with lookup I can simply create checkboxes and click a subject for a teacher 'on' or 'off'. Each click on/off creates/removes a record in the lookup column (which replaces teacher_subject).
If I use a form from a query from teacher subject with teacher as main form and subject as subform I run into this problem: In the subform I can either select each subject that teacher has in a bombo box, i.e. click, scroll down, select, go to next row, click, scroll down, etc. (takes too long) OR I can create a list box listing all available subjects in each row but allowing me to select only one. (takes up too much space). Is it possible to have a click on/off list box for teacher_subject, creating/removing a record there with each click?
Note - I know zero SQL or VB. If the correct answer is "you need to know SQL for this" then that's cool. I just need to know.
Thanks!
I've been searching and i can't find any ff addons or javascript for finding unused css in ajax apps.
dust-me selectors
can do a site-crawl, but i'm looking for something that examines loaded-in content...
I'd like something where i can press 'record' and then make a load of clicks which will check off the used selectors, and hoping to find an existing one rather than try to write my own with jquery!
Hi,
I have a sql script file that upon import creates a table in a MySQL database and fills it with 2800 record. These are all the postal codes for the country Belgium.
Now I would like to make a Ruby on Rails database migration file from this. Any idea how I can do this?
Thanks,
Michael
I have two tables:
info: ID, fee_id
and
fee: ID, amount
and a reference between them (SQL Server 2008):
ALTER TABLE info WITH CHECK ADD CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee FOREIGN KEY(fee_id)
REFERENCES fee (ID)
ALTER TABLE info CHECK CONSTRAINT FK_info_fee
GO
How to configure this reference that way so a record in fee will be deleted if info.fee_id becomes NULL
Is there a way to implement the null object design pattern in a generic form so that i don't need to implement it for every buisness object.
For me, there are two high level classes you'll need for every business class. One for a single record and another for a list. So i think there should be a way to implement the NULL Object design pattern at a high level and not have to implement it for every class.
Is there a way and how please?

So if you look at the tabs and look at hw2, you'll notice it has a little extra spacing that overlaps the spacing on the right. That's because wrapped the div in the <li>. You will notice the others not having it. I don't understand why is it making that extra little spacing after I wrap it.
Just for the record, this is for CSS spacing which has nothing to do with the JS.
Update: I found a ghetto work around!
i want to develop an application on android phone regarding voice recorder.i have to record a sound for about 30 seconds and then stop and save the recorded sound in gallery.can anyone post the code if you have please?
I have hashtable, my program want to record the valuse of hashtable to process later!
But i have a quesiton . Can web write oject hastable in to file ? if can,how to load that file ?
the jquery plugin that im using is this
http://code.google.com/p/jquery-in-place-editor/
if i have a table like this
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<th>id</th>
<th>first name </th>
<th>last name </th>
</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td class="id">1</td>
<td class="fname">sarmen</td>
<td class="lname">mikey</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="id">2</td>
<td class="fname">john</td>
<td class="lname">angelo</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td class="id">3</td>
<td class="fname">sarmen</td>
<td class="lname">grande</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
and my js looked something like this
$("td.fname").editInPlace({
url: 'ajax.php',
params: '',
show_buttons: true
});
then lets say i click on the first record to edit it which is fname of sarmen. how can i pass a param that only accociates id 1 ? because if i do a query of lets say
"update tbl_users set fname = '$_POST['update_value']' where fname = '$_POST['original_html']'"
(note: im just showing an example so no need to clean posts if that was bothering you :) )
if i run this query the fname of sarmen will update in two records rather than one. How can i only update to id of 1 being to update only one record.
Hi guys,
I need to delete duplicate users in django (by duplicate I mean two or more users with the same email).
If your instance there are three records like this:
id email
3 [email protected]
56 [email protected]
90 [email protected]
I need to delete records 56 and 90 and leave the oldest record id - 3
Is there a way to quickly do this.
Thanks :)
I have a procedure my program calls tens of thousands of times that uses a generic structure like this:
procedure PrintIndiEntry(JumpID: string);
type
TPeopleIncluded = record
IndiPtr: pointer;
Relationship: string;
end;
var
PeopleIncluded: TList<TPeopleIncluded>;
PI: TPeopleIncluded;
begin { PrintIndiEntry }
PeopleIncluded := TList<TPeopleIncluded>.Create;
{ A loop here that determines a small number (up to 100) people to process }
while ... do begin
PI.IndiPtr := ...;
PI.Relationship := ...;
PeopleIncluded.Add(PI);
end;
DoSomeProcess(PeopleIncluded);
PeopleIncluded.Clear;
PeopleIncluded.Free;
end { PrintIndiEntry }
Alternatively, I can declare PeopleIncluded globally rather than locally as follows:
unit process;
interface
type
TPeopleIncluded = record
IndiPtr: pointer;
Relationship: string;
end;
var
PeopleIncluded: TList<TPeopleIncluded>;
PI: TPeopleIncluded;
procedure PrintIndiEntry(JumpID: string);
begin { PrintIndiEntry }
{ A loop here that determines a small number (up to 100) people to process }
while ... do begin
PI.IndiPtr := ...;
PI.Relationship := ...;
PeopleIncluded.Add(PI);
end;
DoSomeProcess(PeopleIncluded);
PeopleIncluded.Clear;
end { PrintIndiEntry }
procedure InitializeProcessing;
begin
PeopleIncluded := TList<TPeopleIncluded>.Create;
end;
procedure FinalizeProcessing;
begin
PeopleIncluded.Free;
end;
My question is whether in this situation it is better to declare PeopleIncluded globally rather than locally. I know the theory is to define locally whenever possible, but I would like to know if there are any issues to worry about with regards to doing tens of thousands of of "create"s and "free"s? Making them global will do only one create and one free.
What is the recommended method to use in this case?
If the recommended method is to still define it locally, then I'm wondering if there are any situations where it is better to define globally when defining locally is still an option.
In Perl, I would write:
$x = "abbbc";
$x =~ s/(b+)/z/;
print "Replaced $1 and ended up with $x\n";
# "Replaced bbb and ended up with azc"
How do I do this in Python -- do a regular-expression string replacement and record what it was that got replaced?
Hi, Here is my scenario:
I have three models Subscriber, Subscription, Plan, with has_many :through relationship
between Subscriber and Plans.
A subscriber can have multiple plans with one active plan. Whenever a subscriber selects a plan I save it using accepts_nested_attributes_for :subscriptions. I get one plan from the form.
Now my problem is I want to get the ID of the record created in subscriptions table.
I am using InnoDB for a MySQL table, and obviously queries using LIKE and RLIKE/REGEXP can take a lot of time.
I've tried Spinx, and it works great, except I have to re-index context at intervals. I can re-index every minute, but I am wondering if there is either 1) a setting in Sphinx to keep records always indexed or 2) other software besides Sphinx that will keep records always indexed.
I want it where that immediately upon inserting or updating a record, the index is updated.
Hi All,
I am trying to delete records in many to many using Doctrine. I used code on http://www.doctrine-project.org/documentation/manual/1_2/ru/working-with-models#many-to-many-relations:deleting-a-link
when I do the first method, it just deletes UserGroup record ONLY. How do I delete User, Group, and UserGroup records at once? The second and thrid methods do not work as well.
If userA deleted OrderA while userB is modifying OrderA, then userB saves OrderA then there is no order in the database to be updated. My problem is there is no error! The SqlDataAdapter.Update succeeds and returns a "1" indicating a record was modified when this is not true. Does anybody know how this is supposed to work, thanks.
