  • HTML APIs for touch devices?

    What HTML APIs are available for touch screen devices (e.g. tablet PCs)? I notice that GMail's iPad interface (and other mobile interfaces) doesn't scroll down in a normal web browser (pretending to be an iPad via a user-agent hack). How can one access this API on a PC? I have a school full of tablet PCs that aren't wonderful in tablet mode due to lack of application support, but there looks to be an increasing number of web-based apps that will fill this gap.

    We have all seen countless instances of forms with a select drop down having one of it's options as "Other" and on choosing that option, we get to see a input text box (which was hidden all along) asking us to type in our input. Is there a better way to implement this? Are there plugins out there which will let me do this better? Or are standard HTML elements suffice (some setting to a , may be) ?

  • How to let short content pages reach the bottom of the browser window and then a footer should appea

    In this case, I've developed a CSS code for this web application ..and sometimes the resulting data is too small and the footer of the site appears in the middle of the page and looks odd. I'd like to push that whitespace of the background to the browser's bottom and then followed by a footer. AND if the page is long, that text won't get overlapped by the footer. Can someone help me out with this code right here?     I'm wondering if it's possible (recommended might be the better word) to use sed to convert URLs into HTML hyperlinks in a document. Therefore, it would look for things like: http://something.com And replace them with <a href="http://something.com">http://something.com</a> Any thoughts? Could the same also be done for email addresses?

  • Is html font size using em still important

    In a web LOB web based SaaS product we are developing that we explicitly not support IE 6, only IE7/8, FF 3, Chrome, Opera, WebKit etc... which allow px resize as standard, is it still important to use em rather than px? Its a lot more work to consider the compute font size (size em are computed from their inheritance chain) especially when nesting html reuse components where a font-size has already been specified in an outer container.

  • pdflatex document to html

    I need to convert a bunch of pdflatex only documents (because of graphics-- .pdf's jpgs & pngs) to html. tex4ht is giving a bunch of garbage output. the documents are built using the \input command. Is there anything I can do to help tex4ht with a pdflatex document? I've looked at many converters (pandoc, hevea, tth, latex2rtf) but none of them can include my figures well. Is tex4ht my best bet?
