I can see that with a single thread it is taking a hell lot of time to move the files one by one. Multiple threads is improving the copy performance, but I don't know what should be the exact number of threads. I am using Java executor service to create the thread pool.

    Hello, I am using maven-assembly plugin to create a jar of my application, including its dependencies as follows: <assembly> <id>macosx</id> <formats> <format>tar.gz</format> <format>dir</format> </formats> <dependencySets> <dependencySet> <includes> <include>*:jar</include> </includes> <outputDirectory>lib</outputDirectory> </dependencySet> </dependencySets> </assembly> (I omitted some other stuff that is not related to the question) So far this has worked fine because it creates a lib directory with all dependencies. However, I recently added a new dependency whose scope is system, and it does not copy it to the lib output directory. i must be missing something basic here, so I call for help. The dependency that I just added is: <dependency> <groupId>sourceforge.jchart2d</groupId> <artifactId>jchart2d</artifactId> <version>3.1.0</version> <scope>system</scope> <systemPath>${project.basedir}/external/jchart2d-3.1.0.jar</systemPath> </dependency> The only way I was able to include this dependency was by adding the following to the assembly element: <files> <file> <source>external/jchart2d-3.1.0.jar</source> <outputDirectory>lib</outputDirectory> </file> </files> However, this forces me to change the pom and the assembly file whenever this jar is renamed, if ever. Also, it seems just wrong. I have tried with <scope>runtime</scope> in the dependencySets and <include>sourceforge.jchart2d:jchart2d</include> with no luck. So how do you include a system scoped jar to your assembly file in maven 2? Thanks a lot

    It appears that the php command line is using a different php.ini from the main php interpreter. I am using Ubuntu 10.4. My problem is that in the main php.ini I have included an extra path for an external library, but in the cli version this is not present, and so I have a path inclusion error. thanks

  • Keywords dictionary

    I developed a web site to search a database of videos indexed by keywords. There are several keywords that are repeated like "kid" and "kids" or "children" I'd like that when users search for a keyword they will find also videos with similar keywords and keywords translation (ex. "kid" "kinder"). I was thinking about using an external dictionary, there's Google dictionary but it does not provide APIs. Have you got any idea on how can I do that? Thanks Giuseppe

Until now, my project only had to lazy-load Sizzle at one point in the script, so I was able to just hard-code the gather_content() function call into the load_sizzle() function. However, I now need to lazy-load Sizzle at two different points in the script, and call a different function either time once it's loaded. How can I modify my function so that I can specify a variable number of parameters, to be passed with the callback function? Or, am I going about this the wrong way? Ultimately, I just want to load Sizzle, then call any function that I need to (with any arguments that it needs) once it's done loading. Thanks for any help!

  • Best Practices / Patterns for Enterprise Protection/Remediation of SSNs (Social Security Numbers)

    I am interested in hearing about enterprise solutions for SSN handling. (I looked pretty hard for any pre-existing post on SO, including reviewing the terriffic SO automated "Related Questions" list, and did not find anything, so hopefully this is not a repeat.) First, I think it is important to enumerate the reasons systems/databases use SSNs: (note—these are reasons for de facto current state—I understand that many of them are not good reasons) Required for Interaction with External Entities. This is the most valid case—where external entities your system interfaces with require an SSN. This would typically be government, tax and financial. SSN is used to ensure system-wide uniqueness. SSN has become the default foreign key used internally within the enterprise, to perform cross-system joins. SSN is used for user authentication (e.g., log-on) The enterprise solution that seems optimum to me is to create a single SSN repository that is accessed by all applications needing to look up SSN info. This repository substitutes a globally unique, random 9-digit number (ASN) for the true SSN. I see many benefits to this approach. First of all, it is obviously highly backwards-compatible—all your systems "just" have to go through a major, synchronized, one-time data-cleansing exercise, where they replace the real SSN with the alternate ASN. Also, it is centralized, so it minimizes the scope for inspection and compliance. (Obviously, as a negative, it also creates a single point of failure.) This approach would solve issues 2 and 3, without ever requiring lookups to get the real SSN. For issue #1, authorized systems could provide an ASN, and be returned the real SSN. This would of course be done over secure connections, and the requesting systems would never persist the full SSN. Also, if the requesting system only needs the last 4 digits of the SSN, then that is all that would ever be passed. Issue #4 could be handled the same way as issue #1, though obviously the best thing would be to move away from having users supply an SSN for log-on.   • How do I replace outbound link URLs in a PDF document, using PHP

    I have a PDF document with some external links. I'd like to parse the document, replace the destination of the links then close (and serve) the PDF document, all using PHP I know I can do this with PDFLib but I don't want to incur this cost. I could re-write the document with FPDF or DomPDF, but some of these PDFs are quite complex so this would be a major time investment. Surely there must be a way to do this directly to PDF docs, using native PHP? TIA

I am thinking that for each authenticated user (logged in) we would need an OS CAL & a SharePoint CAL & we would need a processor license for SQL Server - Is this correct & what about non-authemticatedc website "browsers"?     I followed the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825532 After that when I preview my page, I can't see the hitcounter. I learned that it may be related to permissions of the site but I couldn't find how to do it. Is it realy related to permissions ? If so what should I do to ? And any external solution (except this one: http://hitcounter.codeplex.com/) would help, the one in pharanthesis, I couldn't make it work.
