  • Modifying the Google Drive menu interface

    - by Dangerbunny
So I'm working on a web-app for the Google Marketplace that's going to involve integration with Google Drive. Part of what I want to be able to do with the app involves something along the lines of adding a menu option to the Drive menu interface. For instance, you could be editing a document in drive and browse to File-"My new fancy option." Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if it is not, is there another way of adding this sort of custom action functionality where you are able to perform non Drive standard actions on files from within the Drive interface?

  • Getting error using ContactManager Sample

    - by OceanBlue
I have created some contacts data in the emulator. When I run the ContactManager sample app downloaded from the Android site, I get an error. Specifically, when trying to add a Contact through the app, I get a NullPointerException. I think it is because the "Target Accounts" spinner on the scree is not getting populated, and hence I cannot select a Target Account before adding a contact. Has anyone run across this problem or has any clues on how to fix this?

  • How big can I make an Android application's canvas in terms of pixels?

    - by user279112
I've determined an estimate of the size of my Android emulator's screen in pixels, although I think its resolution can be changed to other numbers. Quite frankly though that doesn't eliminate the general problem of not knowing how many pixels on each axis I have to work with on my Android applications in general. The main problem I'm trying to solve is this: How do I make sure I don't use a faulty resolution on Android applications if I want to keep things' sizes constant (so that if the application screen shrinks, for instances, objects will still show up just as big - there just won't be as many of them being shown) if I wish to do this with a single universal resolution for each program? Failing that, how do I make sure everything's alright if I try to do everything the same way with maybe a few different pre-set resolutions? Mainly it seems like a relevant question that must be answered before I can come across a complete answer for the general problem is how big can I always make my application in pixels, NOT regarding if and when a user resizes the application's screen to something smaller than the maximum size permitted by the phone and its operating system. I really want to try to keep this simple. If I were doing this for a modern desktop, for instance, I know that if I design the application with a 800x600 canvas, the user can still shrink the application to the point they're not doing themselves any favors, but at least I can basically count on it working right and not being too big for the monitor or something. Is there such a magic resolution for Android, assuming that I'm designing for API levels 3+ (Android 1.5+)? Thanks

  • How can I remove the present view when I have added more than one subView ?

    - by srikanth rongali
How can I remove the present view when I touched the close button. I did [self.view removeFromSuperView] when I added only one subView. It worked. But, I have now added another subView to the previous subView. I need to to get the parent view . How can I do it. My code of adding the subView is here. When I did the following only one view is removed. //FirstViewController: UIViewController -(void)libraryFunction:(id)sender { LibraryController *libraryController = [[LibraryController alloc]init]; [self.view addSubview:libraryController.view]; } //LibraryController: UIViewController -(void)viewDidLoad{ RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; UINavigationController *aNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:rootViewController]; self.navController = aNavigationController; [aNavigationController release]; [rootViewController release]; [self.view addSubview:navController.view]; } //RootViewController: UITableViewController - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Close" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(close:)]; } -(void)close:(id)sender { [self.view removeFromSuperview]; } Thank You.

  • Activity should be transparent, but has black background

    - by Uwe Krass
I followed the instructions of writing a transparent layout. My res/values/style.xml looks like this: <resources> <style name="Theme" parent="android:Theme" /> <style name="Theme.Transparent"> <item name="android:windowBackground">@drawable/transparent_background</item> </style> <drawable name="transparent_background">#00000000</drawable> </resources> The activity snippet looks like this: <activity android:name=".Controlls" android:label="Controlls" android:theme="@style/Theme.Transparent"> When I start this activity from my root activity, the layout gets drawn correctly, but the background stays black.

  • Connecting ipad to external monitor

    - by Josh P.
I am trying to connect my ipad app to an external screen using the following (not checking the correct resolution for no - just want it up and running). - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { [window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; if ([[UIScreen screens] count] > 1) { window.screen = [[UIScreen screens] objectAtIndex:1]; } [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } Is this supposed to redirect everything to the external monitor? How dows it work with touches/gestures? I see in the Apple apps, the controls etc are left on the ipad screen...

  • Load large images into Bitmap?

    - by GuyNoir
I'm trying to make a basic application that displays an image from the camera, but I when I try to load the .jpg in from the sdcard with BitmapFactory.decodeFile, it returns null. It doesn't give an out of memory error which I find strange, but the exact same code works fine on smaller images. How does the generic gallery display huge pictures from the camera with so little memory?

  • Customize Annotation problem....Plz Help.. !!

    - by user128647
I want to show my custom UIView(.Xib View) to appear when user tabbed on pins (not apple's callOutBubble) and in that UIView there should be a button which fires an IBAction on touched down event. Therefore i have added an AddObserver method to MKAnnotationView. which responds to touch events over pin in MKMapView. But i have also added 3 buttons over that XIB view, which have also assined IBActions. But when i run application, Buttons in Customized Annotation view are not responding to IBAction (Touch Down)? Why this happens ?? What is the solution for that??? I need to have called some method, when those 3 buttons tabbed. Thanks

  • iPhone Application: force landscape mode, strange behaviour...?

    - by David Lawson
This is a method I use to switch display views, based on a string passed (for example you could pass MainMenuViewController to switch views to a new instance of that class): - (void)displayView:(NSString *)newView { NSLog(@"%@", newView); [[currentView view] removeFromSuperview]; [currentView release]; UIViewController *newView = [[NSClassFromString(newView) alloc] init]; [[newView view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460)]; [self setCurrentView:newView]; [[self view] addSubview:[currentView view]]; } I have my application forced into landscape view (.plist and -shouldRotate), but if you look in the code: [[newView view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460)]; I have to set the frame of the newView to a portrait frame for the view to be displayed correctly - otherwise, for example, a button on the new view can only be pressed in certain parts of the screen (rectangle up the top), unresponsive anywhere else. Even though in all my NIB files they are set to landscape.

  • UITextView disabling text selection

    - by dizy
I'm having a hard time getting the UITextView to disable the selecting of the text. I've tried: canCancelContentTouches = YES; I've tried subclassing and overwriting: - (BOOL)canPerformAction:(SEL)action withSender:(id)sender (But that gets called only After the selection) - (BOOL)touchesShouldCancelInContentView:(UIView *)view; (I don't see that getting fired at all) - (BOOL)touchesShouldBegin:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event inContentView:(UIView *)view; (I don't see that getting fired either) What am I missing ?

  • Use one single DLL library to import other libraries at runtime

    - by Yifan
I am writing a Win32 DLL library that can be redistributed. I am using different versions of the windows API because I want to support Windows 7 functions, but still have support for Windows 2000 (with some function disabled). What I have currently is MyLib2000.dll, MyLibXP.dll, and MyLibVista.dll, and my application chooses which library to load at runtime. I want a way to have a single DLL (MyLib.dll) that stores the other three in itself and when it's being loaded, it extracts the correct DLL out of itself and loads it. I know this is not the best way to do this, so suggestions on another method of doing this is welcome.

  • iphone - grouping UIImageViews x blocking elements

    - by Mike
I have to rotate several UIImageViews around a specific center. To accomplish this I am using the famous trick of putting these views as subviews of a larger one and rotating that one. The problem is that these subviews have to detect touches, because each one has buttons on it. The hierarchy is like this LARGE_VIEW | |_____ imageView1 | |_________ button1 | |_________ button2 | |_________ button3 | |_____ imageView2 |_________ button4 |_________ button5 |_________ button6 etc So, to make buttons respond to tap, I had to make this; [LARGE_VIEW setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; [imageView1 setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; [imageView2 setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; ImageView1 and 2 are two vertical rows of buttons on each side of the screen. The problem is that there's another view below LARGE_VIEW and this view is not receiving the taps, because LARGE_VIEW is intercepting them first. I don't need LARGE_VIEW to detect any taps except on the two areas where imageView 1 and 2 are. LARGE_VIEW must let pass taps on the area defined by this rect (52, 0, 768-2*52, 1024). ImageView1 and 2 have this size: 52 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high (iPad). ImageView1's rect is: (0, 0, 52, 1024) and ImageView2's rect is: (768-52, 0, 52, 1024) LARGE_VIEW must let pass taps on the area defined by this rect (52, 0, 768-2*52, 1024). How to solve that? I need LARGE_VIEW detect taps on each rect defined on my previous paragraph and pass these taps to its subviews and just let pass taps outside these rects to the app, so other views BELOW, can detect taps too. thanks.

  • iPhone NSCalendar - Incorrect Calendar Drawn for users outside US

    - by xoail
    After trying to work on someone else's code, and so many different iterations, I am unable to understand what am I doing wrong with dates on a calendar month view. I am trying to present a calendar in month view fashion like calendar.app but unfortunately some users in countries like Australia, UK are reporting incorrect alignment of Days to Dates. For instance in Australia it displays 17th March as Friday. Any help is highly appreciated! Here is the code sample I am using: -(void)setCalendar { NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; NSDateComponents *comps = [gregorian components:units fromDate:[NSDate date]]; self.currentDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents:comps]; NSInteger weekdayInteger=[comps weekday]; currentMonth=[comps month]; currentYear=[comps year]; NSString *dateString=[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",currentDate] substringToIndex:10]; NSArray *array= [dateString componentsSeparatedByString:@"-"]; NSInteger currentDay=[[array objectAtIndex:2] intValue]; currentMonthConstant=currentMonth; currentYearConstant=currentYear; currentDayConstant=currentDay; currentConstantDate=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d/%d/%d",currentDayConstant,currentMonthConstant,currentYearConstant]; currentFirstDay=((8+weekdayInteger-(currentDay%7))%7); if(currentFirstDay==0) currentFirstDay=7; [gregorian release]; } And this is how im populating the calendar: -(void)fillCalender:(NSInteger)month weekStarts:(NSInteger)weekday year:(NSInteger)year { currentMonth=month; currentYear=year; currentFirstDay=weekday; UIButton *temp; NSInteger numberOfDays=[self getNumberofDays:month YearVlue:year]; currentLastDay=(currentFirstDay+numberOfDays-1)%7; if(currentLastDay==0) currentLastDay=7; NSString *monthName=[self getMonth:month]; NSInteger grid=(weekday-1); monthLabel.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %d",monthName,year]; for(int i=1;i<=numberOfDays;i++) { if([frontView isEqualToString:@"view1"]) temp=[arr_View2Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; else temp= [arr_View1Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; [temp setBackgroundImage:nil forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [temp setUserInteractionEnabled:TRUE]; UILabel *aLbl = (UILabel *)[temp viewWithTag:123]; [aLbl setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",i]]; // check for today if(currentDayConstant == i && currentMonthConstant == currentMonth && currentYearConstant == currentYear) { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } else { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:69/255.0 green:2/255.0 blue:71/255.0 alpha:1.0]]; } [temp setTag:i]; grid++; if(grid==35) grid=0; } } And finally viewdidload: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self setCalendar]; // set views [self.view1 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,45,320,232)]; [self.view2 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,277,320,232)]; [self.view addSubview:self.view1]; [self.view addSubview:self.view2]; frontView = @"view2"; [self fillCalender:currentMonth weekStarts:currentFirstDay year:currentYear]; frontView = @"view1"; }
