• External 1TB WD USB 3.0 HDD is not detecting. Working perfectly find in Windows

  My 1TB USB 3.0 was working fine earlier in Ubuntu as well as Windows. But lately it is not at all being detected in Ubuntu. It still works fine in Windows. • Java multiple class compositing and boiler plate reduction

  We all know why Java does/should not have multiple inheritance. So this is not questioning about what has already been debated till-cows-come-home. This discusses what we would do when we wish to create a class that has the characteristics of two or more other classes. Probably, most of us would do this to "inherit" from three classes. For simplicity, I left out the constructor.: class Car extends Vehicle { final public Transport transport; final public Machine machine; } So that, Car class directly inherits methods and objects of Vehicle class, but would have to refer to transport and machine explicitly to refer to objects instantiated in Transport and Machine. Car car = new Car(); car.drive(); // from Vehicle car.transport.isAmphibious(); // from Transport car.machine.getCO2Footprint(); // from Machine I thought this was a good idea until when I encounter frameworks that require setter and getter methods. For example, the XML <Car amphibious='false' footPrint='1000' model='Fordstatic999'/> would look for the methods setAmphibious(..), setFootPrint(..) and setModel(..). Therefore, I have to project the methods from Transport and Machine classes class Car extends Vehicle { final public Transport transport; final public Machine machine; public void setAmphibious(boolean b){ this.transport.setAmphibious(b); } public void setFootPrint(String fp){ this.machine.setFootPrint(fp); } } This is OK, if there were just a few characteristics. Right now, I am trying to adapt all of SmartGWT into GWT UIBinder, especially those classes that are not a GWT widget. There are lots of characteristics to project. Wouldn't it be nice if there exists some form of annotation framework that is like this: class Car extends Vehicle @projects {Transport @projects{Machine @projects Guzzler}} { /* No need to explicitly instantiate Transport, Machine or Guzzler */ .... } Where, in case of common names of characteristics exist, the characteristics of Machine would take precedence Guzzler's, and Transport's would have precedence over Machine's, and Vehicle's would have precedence over Transport's. The annotation framework would then instantiate Transport, Machine and Guzzler as hidden members of Car and expand to break-out the protected/public characteristics, in the precedence dictated by the @project annotation sequence, into actual source code or into byte-code. Preferably into byte-code. So that the setFootPrint method is found in both Machine and Guzzler, only that of Machine's would be projected. Questions: Don't you think this is a good idea to have such a framework? Does such a framework already exist? Tell me where/what. Is there an eclipse plugin that does it? Is there a proposal or plan anywhere that you know about such an annotation framework? It would be wonderful too, if the annotation/plugin framework lets me specify that boolean, int, or whatever else needs to be converted from String and does the conversion/parsing for me too. • MVC - Loading DLL programmactically

  I'm trying to implement a plugable architecture in asp.net MVC. I have based my modules on the following article - http://www.wynia.org/wordpress/2008/12/aspnet-mvc-plugins. I have a DLL that contains a simple controller, and a view. The view is an embedded resource within the DLL. The problem I'm having is, if I drop the DLL in the bin directory of my MVC application manually, then everything works perfectly i.e. the assembly loads correctly. But when I copy the DLL from a file upload input box (via a web form) into the bin directoy, I get an error (The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.) when trying to load the assembly. I use the same DLL, what could the problem be?

• I need advices: small memory footprint linux mail server with spam filtering

  I have a VPS which is originally destined to be a webserver but some minimal mail capabilities are needed to be deployed as well, including sending and receiving as standalone server. The current setup is the following: Postfix reveices the mail, the users are in virtual tables, stored in MySQL on connection all servers are tested with policyd-weight service against some DNSBLs all mail is runs through SpamAssassin spamd with the help of spamc client the mail is then delivered with Dovecot 2' LDA (local delivery agent), virtual users as well As you saw... there's no virus scanner running, and that's for a reason: clamav eats all the memory possible and also, virus mails are all filtered out with this setup (I've tested the same with ClamAV enabled for 1,5 years, no virus mail ever got even to ClamAV) I don't use amavisd and I really don't want to. You only need that monster if you have plenty of memory and lots of simultaneous scanners. It's also a nightmare to fine tune by hand. I run policyd-weight instead of policyd and native DNSBLs in postfix. I don't like to send someone away because a single service listed them. Important statement: everything works fine. I receive very small amount of spam, nearly never get a false positive and most of the bad mail is stopped by policyd-weight. The only "problem" that I feel the services at total uses a bit much memory alltogether. I've already cut the modules of spamassassin (see below), but I'd really like to hear some advices how to cut the memory footprint as low as possible, mostly: what plugins SpamAssassin really needs and what are more or less useless, regarding to my current postfix & policyd-weight setup?   I'm using the android plugin for eclipse, and when I try to run my program using a real device through the android device chooser, my phone is not listed as a device. I have updated eclipse and all of the android packages, but it still isn't showing up. My phone is running 1.6, which is also the target version listed in the eclipse project. Also, the reason I decided to try testing on a real device is because the emulator doesn't seem to be working right anymore when I run my project. The emulator launches, but the program never does. Any ideas? (using windows 7/t-mobile mytouch 3g)

Now when i try to open that project, it is showing error "This version of visual studio does not support source control" and " Unexpected error enocountered.   I watched today as someone painlessly exported a NetBeans java project to a JNLP file and HTML file that he could just copy to his web server. I, for whatever reason, have found making JNLPs someone challenging, and would love if I could do the same in Eclipse, but I can't seem to find such a function or a plugin which does this. The only thing I've found is this article but I can't really parse it, it's a bit dense to me, for instance it mentions: Ensure that the org.eclipse.equinox.launcher plug-in is in the feature or in one of the included feature; But if that's even a grammatical sentence, I don't know how to ensure what it says.

  I'm using the jquery form plugin (http://malsup.com/jquery/form/) to upload a file via ajax which is processed in the background. The upload is working correctly, and I am using ASP.Net MVC to return a partial view which contains a $(document).ready call to setup a 'timer' to check on the status of the upload file's processing status. When I return the partial view which contains a script block wit ha $(document).ready call, it is never fired, therefore the 'timer' to check for the status of the upload is never started. When I do this via a regular $.post call (without upload) the function fires correctly after the html is loaded into the DOM. Is there anything else I need to do when calling the ajaxSubmit function to get this to fire?   I have a thumb drive (memory stick, flash drive, etc.) on which I use for my projects when I am away from my home PC. Currently I am accessing my Eclipse project directly from my thumb drive when connected to my PC. I would like to copy my files to the PC, develop on the PC, then "synchronize" with the thumb drive (update files on the thumb drive). I also need the reverse process too: synchronize thumb drive files with files on PC. I have looked at the FileSync plugin, but it specifically says it is one-way. How can I synchronize my Eclipse project both directions (PC to thumb drive and thumb drive to PC) on demand (I don't need this done automagically)?

  Hi I'm developing a new site, and in here it's possible for the user to type in a price in a input-textfield. So what I need is some jQuery-code to transforn the typed in price. This means, that when a user types in "1000", the vissible text in the input field shall automatically be transformed to "1.000" - with a period. And if they type in "10000" it should be transformed to "10.000" etc. You can see a live example on this website I found: http://www.boligsiden.dk/ I know it's on danish, but on the frontpage under the map, there are to input fields. Basically as far as I see the entire application code will need to be placed in the JCR repository, but I need it versioned. There is some documentation about OSGi bundles that could contain resources, but isn't it kind of overkill to create a bundle with a bunch of Java code to talk to Sling when all I want to do is load some files to corresponding URLs? What I was hoping for is something like jetty:run that will automatically deploy a WAR into a new Jetty instance. Ideally the goal for Sling would run Sling and then load the specified content -- is there some Maven2 plugin for this right now? Or is the bundle-based solution the "canonical" way of doing this?

  I am currently using Eclipse Version: 3.5.1. It works perfectly in normal conditions, even with the SVN plugin, the faulty component that I am about to talk about now. The thing is that whenever I am conducting a merge, eclipse shuts down. It just crashes without even leaving an error message or anything else. It happens too often so that I can hardly normally.   Is it possible to launch a debugger such as jdb from maven? I have a pom.xml file that compiles the project successfully. However, the program hangs somewhere and I would really like to launch jdb or an equivalent debugger to see what's happening. I compile using mvn compile and launch using: mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="com.mycompany.app.App" I was expecting something like: mvn exec:jdb -Dexec.mainClass="com.mycompany.app.App" to launch the debugger but, as usual, my expectations are incongruent with maven's philosophy. Also, I couldn't find any documentation (on Maven's website or google) to describe how debugging works. I suspect that I have to use some plugin.

• How do I fix JavaHL (JNI) Not available after I have changed the logon password on my Mac?

  I have installed Eclipse 3.5.2 and the plugin Subversion JavaHL Native Library Adapter 1.6.9.2 and this worked without any problems. However, this morning I was forced to change the password to logon to my Mac and since then I get the message that "Subversion native library not available" when I try to save any changes. Can anyone help? I have tried to add this line (-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni) to the eclipse.ini file but this didn´t seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

  Please suggest some free tools or some in build feature in Eclipse for intellisense of xml. • Eclipse -vm option trouble

  I'm having trouble setting up a new eclipse installation with the -vm option. I'm using the eclipse.ini file below (which has worked in the past). I need this for the m2eclipse plugin. Currently, if I include the -vm option eclipse fails to start. • dlopen / dlsym with as little linking as possible

  I have an application which can make use of plugins which are loaded at runtime using dlopen. Each of the plugins defines a function toretrieve the plugin information which is defined using a common structure. Something like that: struct plugin { char *name; char *app_version; int app_verion_id; char *plugin_version; int plugin_version_id; /* ... */ }; struct plugin p = { "sample plugin",APP_VERION,APP_VERSION_ID,"1.2.3",10203 }; struct plugin *get_plugin() { return &p; } This works well and plugins can be loaded. Now i want to build a small tool to read these properties without linking the whole application. For doing that I have some code like this: void *handle; struct plugin *plugin; struct plugin *(get_plugin*)(); handle = dlopen(filename, RTLD_LAZY); if (!handle) { /*...return; ...*/ } get_plugin = dlym(handle, "get_plugin"); if (!get_plugin) { /*...return; ...*/ } plugin = get_plugin(); printf("Plugin: %s\n", plugin->name); This works nice for simple plugins. The issue is that many plugins reference further symbols from the application, which are resolved even though RTLD_LAZY was set. (like global variables from the application which are used to initialize plugin-global things) So the dlopen() call fails with an error like fatal: relocation error: file sample_plugin.so: symbol application_some_symbol: referenced symbol not found. As I just want to have access to the single simple structure I was wondering how I can prevent the linker from doing that much of his work.

• The method split(String) is undefined for the type String

  I am using Pulse - the Plugin Manager for Eclipse and installed. I have the Eclipse 3.5 for mobile development(Pulsar) profile with a couple other profiles. I realized that the split() method called on a string from code such as below: String data = "one, two, three, four"; data.split(","); generates the error: "The method split(String) is undefined for the type String". I am aware that the split() method did not exist before Java's JRE 1.4 and perhaps could be the cause of the problem. The problem is I don't think I have jre/sdk versions installed. Perhaps there's one in-built with the Pulsar profile and needs editing - but I couldn't tell what settings (and where) needs tweaking. I have checked WindowsPreferencesJavaInstalled JREs and it's set to = jre1.4. Please help thanks.

• Cut and paste out of/ into text fields in a separate window doesn't work

  I have a Macintosh Mozilla plugin which puts up a separate window for login information. It seems to work fine, it gets keyboard events like typing and hitting return to hit the default button. HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to get cut and paste events. When I hit Cmd-v, the edit menu flashes, but nothing happnes. Is this a problem with my responder chain? Do I have to specially tell Mozilla that I want these events? or am I likely to have some other problem that I haven't even thought of? thanks.
